What was written on Jesus cross is the same in all gospels. They're all correct even though they rendered it differently!
The point is that "The King of the Jews" was the basis of His accusation according to Pilate.
It's just a pity he's suffering from misdirected zeal (Romans 10:2-4} thinking he could make sense when what he has (Quran) is nothing compared to God's word the Bible! smiley
Christianity Etc › Re: God Does Not Exist: Nigeria Is The Best Proof by MaxInDHouse(m): 7:08am On Nov 12, 2024
plaetton:
Since the dawn of human history, Religious people have advanced all sorts of arguments to support the existence of whatever God or diety that they believe in.
In the the prescience era, their arguments carried a lot weight, mostly because proof or evidence was not a requirement.
In the modern scientific era however, goddists have struggled to explain the existence of their particular God in the face of numerous advances in knowledge about the universe, our Earth and biological life.

So these days, the Religious folks have to do quiet a lot of logical acrobatics, mostly absurd fallacies, to justify their faith.

On this particular forum, non believers have been asked several times to prove that God does not exist.

Well, even though it is the responsibility of the believers to show proof of the existence of God, the nation of Nigeria does make a compelling case ,in fact, absolute proof, that God does not exist.

This is a nation of 200m+ people who expend the most time and energy to worship and pray to God.

In my 50+ years of life, no single prayer has been answered in Nigeria and for Nigeria.

Despite our absurd fixation with religion and our religiosity, Nigeria can best be described as a God-forsaken nation.

When will it become conscious in our minds that whoever sold us this grand bogey, has left us holding the bag full of desert sand ?

How long shall we continue to carry this bag of desert sand?

Highlighted shows you're just assuming things without a thorough investigation into the matter {Psalms 10:4} i have discovered that in most cases when critics (atheists) want to talk about God their only focus is comparing what the Bible says with science claiming since these things can't be scientifically proved they are lies.
The Bible is not a science textbook it says a lot about unseen intelligent beings living around us so when these unseen beings operates you can't just conclude that you must see them perform things the Bible said they did in times past before you agree they exist you will continue to demand for proof of their existence while those dealing with them ignore you and whatever you think about them.
As for science intellectuals have come to the conclusion that they can't say God doesn't exist.
WHY?
The Bible was written thousands of years ago before modern day scientists began finding out so many things this book says which surely sound odd during the time it was written.
I will give you three instances.
The book says that God hangs our planet home (earth) upon nothing {Job 26:7} as at the time Moses penned down those words nobody living could agree with him that our planet home as huge as it is can be suspended floating without anything supporting it in fact scientists of his time said a lot that makes sense far much more than what Moses wrote but today you and i know that Moses the man who lived some 3600 years ago is right on the matter.
The book also talked about water circle how it evaporates from the earth, condensed and fall back to the earth as rain {Job 36:27-28} please how did Moses knew all of that back then?
The book also talked about the exact shape of our planet that it's spherical (round) when most people back then thought it is flat! Isaiah 40:22
So who was giving these people the accurate information if there is no unseen intelligent beings?
You said Nigeria is a proof that God doesn't exist yet you don't know that as big as this country is the worshipers of the true God are less than 500,000 so what impact do you think that number can make in the midst of over 200,000,000?

I am not discussing the accusations!
All the inscriptions from the 4 Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are different!

All are correct if we want to talk about reports during investigation because all are saying Jesus is to be executed for claiming he is the promised Messiah or King of the Jews! smiley

Inscription on Jesus’ Cross!
When crucified, Jesus’ cross had an inscription — but what did it say?
1. Mark 15:26 - The inscription:“The King of the Jews.”

2. Matthew 27:37 - The inscription: “This is Jesus the King of the Jews.”
3. Luke 23:38 - The inscription: “This is the King of the Jews.”
4. John 19:19 - The inscription: “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” embarassed
This Apostle John Sabi put top-notch jara o!
Na so we dey see INRI above Jesus head on the alter!
Latin - "Iesus Nazarenus, Rex Iudaeorum"
English - "Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews"! Every Christian loves John!
This is what i told you the other time about the language used in Jesus' day Pontius Pilate asked the soldiers to write the inscription for anyone who knew Jesus to know why he must be executed since he (Pilate) can't figure out why the Jewish religious leaders insisted that Jesus must die.
So with the inscription Pilate won't have to face Caesar for the execution of an innocent man.
The Jewish religious leaders and other Jews are not familiar with Latin so it's after they knew the meaning that they ran back to Pilate to rewrite it but he told them what he wrote has been written.
Why?
If he did what they are demanding he would be in trouble because Jesus had no soldiers to fight for him neither did he declare himself King rather it's the Pharisees that schemed the accusations knowing fully well that the Messiah supposed to be King of the Jews and since Jesus is claiming to be the Messiah with all his actions then there is a reason to charge him for treason against Caesar.

Now to your question the writing was unknown to the Jews since it was written in Latin so it's the idea that Jesus of Nazareth was accused of claiming to be the king of the Jews that's in the minds of all.

So the point is made clear that Jesus was accused but the accusations was unjustified even though the Jewish religious leaders say he must be executed. smiley

Even Lazarus that was claimed to have risen from the dead, no one bothered to interview him about life after death.

When you die, you die.
Jews in Jesus' day knew what their scriptures said about the dead. Psalms 146:3-4; Ecclesiastes 9:5-10
At death nothing remains so death is the exact opposite of life! smiley

Does Hebrew have the word "sabachthani"?
What is "abandon" or "forsake" in Hebrew?
Answer and stop the diversion!
This is what Wikipedia says:

Why did Jesus say, “Eli, Eli, Lama sabachthani” that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Is "Eli, Eli, lema/lama sabachthani?" Hebrew or Aramaic? The general consensus is that it is Aramaic rather than Mishnaic Hebrew, though given how similar these can be, this is not universally agreed.

The reason why i strongly believe it can't be Aramaic is because most Jews in Jesus' day speaks Aramaic so whatever makes it difficult for them to understand what he said then it couldn't have been the same language they all speak back then so it must have been Hebrew that most Jews don't really understood fully! smiley

AntiChristian:
I am sure of this sir.
They misunderstood what he was saying to mean he was calling Elijah! Both "Eloi" and 'Eli" are Aramaic!
"Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani" is Aramaic. Scholars have determined this based on the use of the word "sabachthani" which is Aramaic, not Hebrew. If it were Hebrew, the word "azabthani" would have been used instead.
In Hebrew, "Eli Eli lama sabachthani?" will become "Eliy ‘Eliy lamah `azab’taniy?"
The fact that those around him can't grasp his statement it simply means he wasn't speaking Aramaic but Hebrew which was the language most people in his days don't get it's indepth meaning! smiley

His main language was Aramaic!
You just want to argue for the fun of it.

When Jesus spoke Hebrew "Eli Eli" those around him couldn't understand what he was saying yet they were all Jews that should tell you that Jesus could speak both his mother tongue and the lingua franca commonly spoken in his day! smiley

Ohyoudidnt:
Seriously? What is the difference between Hebrew and Aramaic language? Do they share similar words?
Jesus spoke in Hebrew not Aramaic according to the history of the Jews both language were used by the Babylonian returnees because Ezra was teaching many returnees what was written in Hebrew language so it was because most returnees understood Aramaic better than Hebrew that the rest of the books from the time they returned were written in Aramaic but that didn't end the Hebrew language as Jews were proud of their own than a foreign language.
The point here is that once a language is in use for wider communication each person strive to teach his or her child just as you and i are communicating in English now of course that's not our mother tongue.
So the Greek language being the most widely spoken in Jesus' day is well known to Jewish children but that doesn't stop them from speaking their own language: Hebrew! smiley

Captain4Jehovah:
We are not perfect, God is. This shoudn't give us a setback to tell the truth. Although Jesus didn't EMPHASIZE marrying of more than one wife_he did say," ...the Creator made them male and female. and for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to HIS WIFE(not wives), and THE TWO shall become ONE FLESH."(Matt. 19:4-5)[Emphasis is mine].
Do you know the surprising thing? Polygamy was abolished by the Roman government during Jesus time! It is not a sin AT ALL if someone marries more than one wife before he becomes a Christian but IT MUST NOT BE AN INDULGENCE for the rest, those who are not Christians(that is, after I marry more than one wife, I will become a Christian) and those who are.
Lastly, Christians must understand that Satan and his agents are advancing IN STRATEGIES which are used TO ACCUSE THE BELOVED. REMEMBER, HE IS AN ACCUSER OF THE BRETHREN!
When Jesus made reference to the beginning he is telling us that whoever wants to return to the garden where Adam and Eve were driven he or she must stick to the arrangement God made in the beginning! smiley

NO!
"Eli Eli" isn't Aramaic nah it's Hebrew. smiley

What i want you to know is that Jesus spoke in Hebrew but that doesn't mean he couldn't speak the lingua franca of his time which is Greek because even most Jews of his day don't fully understand the Hebrew language rather it's Greek they can speak fluently just as most children today can't speak their parents language like English because that's the norm. smiley

Marrying more than one wife FOR BEING A CHRISTIAN IS A SIN. THERE IS NO COMPROMISE IN CHRISTIANITY! We can't make God's word non effectual. BEING IN THE NEW COVENANT, Christians MUST NOT COPY THE CULTURE OF THE GENTILES.
Many people want to remain babies in the faith instead of growing into maturity.
Christianity is the highway to holiness promised by the true God {Isaiah 35:8} this way leads to everlasting life {John 14:6 compare to John 3:16} where crying mourning or pain will not be {Revelations 21:3-4} how possible is polygamy that's been causing envy and hatred for thousands of years will be allowed in God's Kingdom?
They don't know that the laws of God are now written in the hearts of righteous people {Jeremiah 31:33} who will not do to others what they won't accept! Matthew 7:12
I have asked this question but no polygamy apologist gave me a simple and direct answer:

What did the Bible say Paul knew that Jesus don't know?
Paul only nationalized as a Roman citizen just as many elites are doing today but when talking about the lingua franca of the time all Jews teach their children what they supposed to know.
After their return from Babylon most Jewish children can't speak Hebrew anymore that's why the later part of the Old Testament was written in Aramaic (the language of Babylonians) ever since then the Hebrew language is no longer strong in the mouth of Jewish returnees instead they began learning the language of any nation that's ruling like Greece but the elderly ones among them still keep their mother tongue.
Note what you quoted earlier "Eli Eli" even the Jews standing their don't understand what he was saying! Matthew 27:46-49
