I have almost a similar problem but mine started after replacing my drive shaft. The transmission started acting up with some jerking and sometimes when I accelerate it seems am firing on neutral gear then all of a sudden speeds off. some mechanic said I pulled the shaft when vehicle was warm as I can relate that. Is my gearbox gone bad? Its a toyota highlander 2005.

Gear box loading. Never ever do a drive shaft/ CV joint work when transmission is hot. Best bet is to have it done following day. This one Na one chance

I need your opinion/advise on a particular matter.

Early this year, I bought Lexus RX330 and used it for a month before leaving Nigeria. Before I left, I removed the battery, locked the vehicle and covered it with a car cover to protect it from the sun UV rays. I brought the car keys with me, didn’t leave it to anyone.

Last month, a relative called to inform me that there are molds/moulds everywhere in the vehicle and even sent pictures and this got me worried. They suggested that I should send the key as to clean the vehicle. Due to my fear, I sent the extra key to them, not the original with remote buttons.

Today, the relative told me they were unable to open the car with the extra key. While we were discussing, someone mentioned that the pair can only open the safe, this doesn’t make any sense to me. I did a few google search and got nothing tangible, they were mostly talking about key FOB and so on.

Nairalanders, can you please let me know if you have experienced such OR/AND do you have any idea on why the extra key won't open the car.

Key was not properly cut to fit to open door. If its an Rx330 yours should have a transponder chip that synchronises with the immobiliser to start the ride if other wise would also not start the ride. Just a pointer here. How did this person know that it's only the safe the key can open without getting to open the car door?

What car is this and has it been fixed? Location of the said ride?

If the issue started after oil change, then wrong oil is the cause. What type/brand of ATF did you use?

If right oil was used and Guage, then the oil was changed late and internal components had been damaged.

Your OBD portable scanner will not pickup codes, you need a professional high level diagnostic scanner

Nigeria is a dump site for almost any product. If you have the time buy any can of refrigerant with a SON stamp, weigh it on a scale and check gross weight on can. they will never tally, we are always short-changed.

You shouldn't have gone into the tales of refrigerant. Have got a whole story book to write about the Nigerian refrigerant.e.g some becomes bubble like when discharging

Which of the oil seal did mechanic change? Would advice you run a scan on the transmission first. Sounds to me like a transmission problem
