Car Talk › Re: 07 Camry Gear 13 Pin by mayor2013: 3:10pm On Sep 26, 2017 |
slimmdree: Good day guys, I have an highlander 2004 model that I have been having issue with on the gearbox. The initial problem started when the gear was put into drive and the car would jack before it moves, at times it will take a long time before it moves and when it does, it jacks forcefully. My mechanic suggested then that the gear box was faulty and we decided to change it. The new one that was bought had same problem and was having oil leak, it also was having issue changing while accelerating. Any help would be grateful No warranty on the gearbox? If still within warranty period make sure it's changed. If you get another and you have same symptom then ask your mechanic to look in another direction by first running a scan on the transmission and getting the fault error(s) |

nasonaso: OK sir, if you zoom my 3rd pix closely, by your extreme left you would see a device which is tied with a red wire looking like a DVD ROM from a computer.
According to the electrician. He said that device is usually gotten from Honda cars and the function of the device is used to lower (reduce) fuel supply to the nozzle Which invariably leads to lower fuel consumption. |

Car Talk › Re: My Toyota Camry 2002 (2.4) Refuses To Start But I Cranking Fine (engine Turns) by mayor2013: 1:08pm On Sep 24, 2017*. Modified: 4:12pm On Sep 24, 2017 |
Akgelo2k: For the car gurus, while driving my car I heard a chirping sound so I parked the car and checked the bonnet..noticed my timing belt was slipping off, tried fixing it back and continued my journey only for the car to finally stop.called my mech checked it and noticed that one of the pulleys on which the timing belt rolls(the one reponsible for turning the engine) had broken..he replaced it..however 2 days later the exact same thing happened again...so they opened it up to find out what's making it break...turns out a small key which helps keep the pulley in place had worn out..so this was changed along side a new pulley...after coupling everything, they started the car and heard a cracking sound, on 2nd attempt, the engine could no longer turn...so they loosened everything again..noticed that one of the teeth of the sproket(thats what they called it) upon which the timing chain turns, had cut...4 valves had broken and another 4 were bent...so my engine top was brought down and sent to someone else to replace the valves and "ground" them(dunno what that means)....this was done and the engine coupled...it started but was shaky (couldn't rev smoothly)...the nozzles were cleaned, plugs changed and ignition coils checked(were fine) still the problem persisted..i scanned my car and it gave me P1349 error..they cam to a conclusion that it was from the valves (that the man did not "ground" them well)...so the system was loosened again and top taken to the man to finish his work......after coupling....now the car could not start but the engine was turning fine...
An electrician checked it out but could find the cause of the problem...he said there was no "current" entering the ignition coil/plug area...scanned the car again..this time it showed no error codes ( which is very odd coz long before now -2yrs ago I had error code for a faulty oxygen sensor which I intend rectifying by getting a new one)..he concluded by saying that the problem is either from my "starter sensor" or my "brain box"....pls how can I suddenly have a damaged brain box from all these...for a car that has never given me any problem since 2011 that I got it.. Meanwhile before he(electrician) came, we got another "starter sensor" from a toyota spider engine(same engine) and tried but the car still didn't start... please I need help..would be grateful if any1 can offer a lasting solution now coz i'm so confused as to what to do Thanks My first advice at this junction is to have your mechanic changed first. For him to have open timing chain area and reset timing chain and started the ride and the piston and valves clashed that means a pointer to say the timing was totally set wrongly. Second advice is to have that engine changed cos that engine can never be the same. Sorry about your loss |

feelme3: Its a Nissan Maxima 97. I had to let the whole bits pour out before he fixed back the plug. Abeg, what's the consequence of the purge control solenoid sucking up the hydrocarbon? Though I haven't noticed any visible change on the car's movement This would kill your engine. Replace charcoal canister and have the your purge control solenoid changed as well. You would also need to clean up the vacuum lines.this is not healthy for your ride |
Car Talk › Re: What Came Out Of My Car. Any Idea? by mayor2013: 11:42pm On Sep 22, 2017 |
That's your purge control valve solenoid. It all allows for flow of gas accumulated from your fuel in your tank to go in through the intake manifold plenum. This gas has a storage house called the charcoal canister.in this case what I think is happening here is that the your car's charcoal canister has been over filled up with hydrocarbon so there fore the purge control solenoid valve keeps sucking up the hydrocarbon rather than the gas. What car is this by the way? |

Car Talk › Re: My Brake Doesnt Hold. Have To Pump It Once Or Twice First by mayor2013: 9:57am On Sep 19, 2017 |
xyoung: the car spec is toyota camry 2005, (big daddy).
Service done recently I changed my brake pads and brake pad rotor recently, did wheel alignment and balancing
Complaint Recently i observe the brake doesnt hold immediately i step on it. It only hold when i press it to the very end. Secondly when i am on the road, i have to pump it twice before it will hold the 2nd time. I suspected there is air inside the car and called my mechanic to bleed the brake, the problem was solved instantly but after 1 day of driving the problem returned.
Solutions needed pls Have you had your brake lining checked. Then if yes a proper diagnosis needs to be carried out. If in Lagos we can offer a free diagnosis to know the actual problem |

docadams: It took almost all my day reading this thread. I discovered that so many things need to be restructured in this country. First on my list is redistribution/cloning and posting of genuine mechanics to other places.
I spent N65,000 to buy shocks for a good car I bought from Eshanmotos. All transactions/installation was left to my automechanic to effect. The performance after installation was worse than the ones that were removed.
I have learnt a lot here. One thing that struck me was the contribution of some automechanics to the gradual decline in performance of cars even when adequate resources were made available.
My eyes have opened wide. What car is this? |
