PoliticsRe: The Oba of Lagos pubclicly disgraces the Ooni of Ife in Lagos (Video) by MayorofLagos(m): 3:38am On Apr 26, 2017
Afam4eva:
You must be high on cow dung if you think the Obi of Onitsha will pay homage to the Ooni when the Ooni is not hosting him. The Ooni is not higher than the Obi because they're from totally different ethnicities. Now, the Oba of Lagos is a different issue considering that he's from the same ethnicity as the Ooni and according to Yoruba oral tradition the Alaafin of Oyo Ooni of Ife is the highest in rank.
Obi of Onitsha is under the sovereingty of Benin.

Amongst the sixteen sovereingties created by Ife, Benin is one of them.

Obi of Onitsha is subordinate to a lower Crown heirarchy of Ile Ife.

You are mixing traditional Imperial Sovereingty with federal character artificially created by Nigerian rulers to balance distribution of power.

How many sovereingties has the stool in Onitsha created in its history? Answer that logically, not emotionally, if you can.
PoliticsRe: The Oba of Lagos pubclicly disgraces the Ooni of Ife in Lagos (Video) by MayorofLagos(m): 2:44am On Apr 26, 2017
In heirarchy of Obaship and protocol of honor, Ooni has tarnished his stool.

Dont blame Oba Akiolu.

In normal order Ooni is supposed to be seated. Obi should get up and go pay him homage. Akiolu should get up and go pay him homage.

I wonder if as prince Ojaja II was groomed on sovereingty and what the Ooni crown stand for.

Have you ever seen Alaafin walking over to shake and hug with subperiors? Akiolu dare not treat Iku Baba Yeye like that....he will receive a calabash with parrot's egg in it before next sunrise. He knows!

Dont blame Akiolu, ask why Ooni is distributing handshakes and hugs and high fives to his subordinates.

As always, Good job to Oduduwa pikins!!

If we had been doing this a long time ago when it was typical of Ibo to spin bs on internet their delusion would have been healed long ago and we would be spared this trouble.

Ibo is just not the type to look other way and dismiss when it comes to fabricating lies and embellishing truths. We must shut down their voice immediately we get the message. They are in village at moment undergoing indoctrination, they will return with fresh sheets of lies. We should be prepared to shut Ibo voice.

Indeed we should stand viewing them and treating them as a minority group.

My point is that contrary to your assertion, from Jan 16 1966 to July 29 1666, Ojukwu did not have the power to release Awo. So begin to base your argument on the few days loophole between July 30 and August 3 1966.
So where did Ojukwu get his authority to release him on August 3rd?

Federal Prisons, at whatever time, is a Federal Institution under Interior Ministry and no regional governor, military or civilian had authority to release an inmate, particularly one in the calibre of Awo.

Now, Ojukwu loved the camera and the power of photo imagery and cinemas. Everywhere he went cameras followed him. An important event such as releasing Awo from prison is a political marker and Ojukwu could not have missed that. No one has presented any record evidence of Ojukwu releasing Awo. All we hear is hearsay through the village rumor mill.

PoliticsRe: Myth Buster - Production Of Petrol, Kerosene & Diesel By Biafra by MayorofLagos(op):
From the mouth of the individual who, indisputably, was the genius behind production of fuel (petrol, kerosene, diesel) for Biafra.

I used to produce petrol for Biafra- I, Fola Oyewole. Yes. It is like brewing ogogoro, put it in something, fire it, and it would produce steam, pass it through cold water. So if you have a small river around your camp, about one third of the crude you put is petrol, the second third or there about is kerosene, without doing anything and the next is diesel, because we didn’t know what to do, we threw away the rest, but people who do know can tap it into something.

The point is the kerosene I got, I didn’t need. I gave to people of Owerri Nkwo Orji, the village where my camp was. Then I was chief so to say, I gave them anytime I boiled- petrol, kerosene, so everybody was looking after everybody so to say.
The myth that Ibos entreprenuering and inventive spirit is behind this technological breakthrough is hereby shattered forever and is no longer tenable.

Ibos can not any longer lay claim to this ingenuity and enterprising spirit.

Death to you and all you ever stand for in life!

FANI-KAYODE ON NNAMDI KANU
Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of IPOB and easily the most courageous, powerful and credible Igbo leader in Nigeria today.
...
I was amazed at his depth of knowledge, his immense courage and his deep convictions.

...we must give honor to whom it is due. Consequently I have no regrets for what I have said.
...
I have associated with, met and worked with many men of influence and power since I entered the combustible fray of politics thirty years ago but this one was different.

This was a man that had what I would describe as a Mahatma Ghandi-like quality. That is to say he is one that is prepared to sacrifice everything and anything for his beliefs, his people and his cause.
Like the great Scottish freedom fighter William Wallace I have no doubt that if he deemed it necessary he would go as far as to sacrifice his very life in the struggle for freedom and independence for his Igbo people from the Nigerian state and from our internal colonial masters and for the establishment of his beloved Biafra.

Not all may agree with him on that course but they must respect his determination, passion and courage.

Very few Nigerian leaders have that level of selflessness and commitment to any cause and, simply put, I admire it.

I looked deeply into his eyes as we spoke and I touched and weighed his soul.

I can tell you, without any fear of contradiction, that he is a profoundly good man who loves his Igbo people deeply.

He is also well-educated and widely-read and he is a formidable intellectual.
...

He is not a politician in the true sense of the word but rather a freedom fighter and a charismatic leader who has managed to inspire millions of Igbo youth all over the world to once again have faith in themselves and their collective cause and aspirations. In my view that is a good thing.

I can also tell you this: he is a man of great faith and conviction and his rise to prominence is not ordinary but instead prophetic.

He cannot be destroyed or silenced by any government or man born of woman because the Lord is with him and He is using him. He is using him to say and do the things that many believe but that are too scared to say or do.
Other leaders have had their time in the past and now this is his. He is paying a very heavy price right now for what God will use him for in the future.

Very few leaders can or would be willing to take the pain and make the kind of sacrifice that this man is making today.

I am a very cautious and circumspect person and it takes me a while to warm to people or for them to win my confidence. Yet this case was different.

Nnamdi and I, rather like Che Guevera and Fidel Castro at the beginning of the Cuban revolution, connected immediately and he won my trust, respect and admiration.

If there is anyone that can truly build the much needed bridge between the south-west, the south-south and the south-east it is Nnamdi Kanu.

This is because he is pragmatic and sincere. It is because he is respectful and accomodating of alternative points of view and dissenting opinions and he speaks from a position of knowledge and strength. It ibecause he is very proud of his Igbo heritage and he would never betray his people or prostitute his principles.

The truth is that he is not just a combination of Owelle Nnamdi Azikwe and Dim Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu: he is a combination of Azikwe, Ojukwu AND Major Kaduna Nzeogwu all rolled into one.

The fire of revolution and the yearning for fundamental and equitable change burns in his blood and resides in his bones.

He has spoken up for, defended and fought for the preservation and dignity of his people just as those other three leaders did in the past at different times in our history.
...
His love, remarkable courage and sheer passion for his people and their cause is boundless and unfathomable.

The Igbo is blessed to have him as one of the most respected and reverred leaders in our entire history as a nation.
...

Nigeria is signatory to a number of treaties on military operations. Our military is sensitive to critics who will raise alerts of human rights abuse so they are mindful to follow internationally acceptable mode of engagement.

Oodua People Congress are not signatories to any treaty with anybody, they operate on open opportunity understanding and therefore cannot legally be sued for engaging combatants outside the limits. OPC has told these state governors in Yorubaland to look the other way so they can have free field to do what is necessary to truly protect the land. The governors on the other hand are scared of what that would mean for them when they need electoral mandates.

These governors need to just take a month leave from security issues. Enough time for OPC to do what it wants to go into Arepo and Ikorodu creeks to do.
PoliticsRe: How We Can Develop Ala-Igbo - Okezie Ikpeazu by MayorofLagos(m): 11:01pm On Dec 28, 2016
I took time to read and understand each post on this thread.

OP,
Ikpeazu captured some but not all the factors that created deficits and detriments in Iboland.

When there is conflict between two opposing forces you bring in a mediator to use truth and reconciliation to address grievances and seek a middle way to reset and restart relations and restore peace. Truth and reconciliation as a tool for peacemaking is equally useful for intra- ethnic divisions as is the case with Iboland.

Your leaders have spent decades looking in the wrong direction for what troubles you. You have fundamental cultural beliefs that is out of alignment with the inherited system of governance left to this nation by colonial Britain.

In addition to the fundamental cultural difference, you were also at a disadvatage in the choice of Zik as your representative leader.

These two pointers are at the root of your problem. Other issues that Ikpeazu mentioned are just surface events and offshoots from incompatibility of your culture and leadership into the system and style of governance established for the sovereingty.

This is not to say other regions have a perfect startup, but it is worth noting that a continuity was possible for them when sovereingty transitioned from colonial leadership to indigenous leadership and their learning curve was very small because their cultures and traditional statehood had served as headstart all along. In fact for Yoruba specifically the colonial system was a retrogade from its traditional customs of state rulership and check and balance for urban evolution and state civilization.
Awolowo proved this politically and socially. Babaramota already alluded to that fact where Awo confronted the colonial Governor and charged him with incompetency.

For instance all the contemporaries of 50s and 60s youth leadership schooled in England, exception was Zik, who schooled in America.

Zik could find culturally compatible sentiments in the American system of governance where no central authority or monarchy exists.

His peers in Yorubaland and Hausaland found culturally compatible society in England. They saw the system they inherited as one and the same with their ethnic society. For Zik on the other hand there was clash of values. He could not reconcile Ibo society into the greater Nigeria. This aspect played into the push for forceful takeover and reshape of the whole country from ground up.

Another factor in the fundamental problem is the custom and beliefs in birthrights. The diala can buy land and attain community or clan leadership and can represent the community and marry freely....the osu is forbidden from any of these privileges of birth. When it dawned on osus that in Yorubaland they are equal to dialas and no one here forbids them anything or set no-go limits on them, plus the fact Yorubaland is a land of milk & honey....they abandoned their condemned life in Iboland sought refuge in Yoruba. Many of them rose to prosperity and far above their freeborn peers. This factor alone drained Iboland of headcount faster than anything else.

As you plan a resettlement (that guy was correct by callintg it resettlement, and im going to add to it...) and "rehabilitation" of Iboland, start thinking what it means and changes needed to make every Ibo a freeborn on your homeland. You also need to define and reassess if you want to remain as member in this culturally incompatible system of governance.
