OBAGADAFFI:Thats not a cabinet, those are Administration Staffs. VP does not have cabinet. Administration Staffs are the ones to translate policies into process. |
Very true declaration! I think the combination of interviews given by Ango Abdullahi and Tanko Yakassai is backfiring on North and will end up engender a new political cohesion in the South. The competition between the Southerners must continue cause I think it sharpens our skills and drive for self improvement and preservation but I believe the vitriol and caustic darts needs to be sheathed. We can argue points and counter claims but respectfully and morebcivil. Also, we need to collectively start attacking and antagonising the North in areas of security, productivity, economy, education and diversity. We need to put pressure on them and demand why with such huge population and federal allocation their society remain poor and backward. They hate alcohol and cannot stand the sight of their women dressed in public in revealing clothings. These should be our weapons to attack their culture. We want to reengineer their society and want their women to be released from the shackles of male chauvinism that is pervasive in their culture. A woman has right to dress anyway she wants and associate with anybody that pleases her. Hausamen cannot be allowed to dictate that. We Southerners must begin to champion the rights of Northern women to show cleavage or show thighs if thats what she desires without any persecution or attack. We must also encourage their youths that their contract to life is between the individual and his/her God. They must separate worship from living. There is nothing wrong with partying or clubbing, once in a while its good to throw away worries and enjoy life...with a bottle of Johnny Walker! The boys can do it, the girls can do it too. |
I really think Atiku Abubakar (or whether na Abubakar Atiku) is behind this Dr Farouk. |
AkinPhysicist:Hahahahahahahahaha... ![]() baba were ni paddy yi, i swear to Edumare! I dey laugh dey fart join.... ![]() |
Clinton9000:if Hausa say his share of Nigeria population is 55% will you believe him without a authoritative data to support it? If he says the population of muslims in SE is 20% will you believe him without a official data? What about when he says the bokoharam is killing only muslims and they are a christian army fighting islam in North, dobyou agree? .....but you will attach your ego to his claim that 70% of industries in Lagos is owned by Ibo and believe it, right? If 70% of industry is owned by Ibo then you should be the one in government house running affairs of the state. Why aren't you? |
I truly believe biafrans should go to Israel, dressed as Jews, and do a solidarity rally. All this rallies in London will get you no where, UK is not interested in splitting Nigeria. |
MetaPhysical:Metaphysical, There is a set of articles authored by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, may his soul rest in peace! If any Nigerian earned being called prophet and worshipped, Awo is that person. These articles are collected under the label of Awo's Doctrines. Ill be honest, Awo's thoughts in these articles can be compared to the American Marshall Plan from which was taken the phrase "American Dream". Awo had a dream for Yorubaland, and by extension for the regions at large. Part of Awo's doctrines is what Alhaji Lateef Jakande implemented in Lagos State in early 80s, and expanded into contemporary versions that sustained Tinubu, Fashola and now Ambode. The break in democracy after return of military shunted the growth and trajectory put in place by Jakande, but the template was never destroyed. To make it simple, fundamentally, individuals do not need to be rich, they just need to be gainfully employed in a rewarding production chain and they will enjoy a wholesome sense of being and a desirable lifestyle. So the task for administrators in public sector is to explore areas of human endeavours that they can channel for purposeful engagement both in the public and private sectors to equate worth and value for public good. In other words, in any existing opportunity where humans can make useful returns are there impending barriers that will discourage that enterprise? If the answer is yes, then the government has identified a task and must engage to remove that barrier so revenue streams can be tapped for good of society. Very noble idea! How many states in Nigeria today are removing barriers and encouraging enterprise for public good? The report on IGR is a hint on who these states are. Some states are so excellent at doing this that they are natural magnets for enterprising minds. Yet other states are so reckless and care less about society and unconcerned about the risks and dangers in consequence of their citizens abandoning their roots (uprooting) and support base to go live as strangers in a totally unsupportive and hostile culture where their "fundamental" needs for productive and rewarding employment can be realized. Federal character is a statutory call and limited only to the public sector....civil service, federal ministers and so on in the center. Why do we allow politicians in states that have a perennial poor performance in the protection of their citizens at local level to serve the nation at federal level? Those states with impressive IGR have demonstrated capability to promote what is good for society in their locality.....these are the people we need at federal level to drive policies for youth, women, children, healthcare, education, culture, interior, budget, trade and industry and so on..... We need to change mindset and make service at federal a performance-based selection at local level. So far, IGR seems the only reliable data available to assess each state. Since federal character is a state based criteria, the number of vacancies in cabinets should be a ratio of the total contribution at input to the central government. There is plenty to say but I think this isbsufficient. |
Desyner:Excellent point! Mosques are already subsidized from government coffers, why sink money into a infrastructure that serves no utility for production? |
Desyner:If properly structured and operated the different aspects of it will not be too difficult to manage. We need to start running government in tandem with successes in the private sector. |
SalamRushdie:Your perspective on public administration and the use of policy to grow society is very narrow, if an IGR means extortion to you. |
Kanu need to shut up and let people talk for him....otherwise he will find himself back in prison, and a much longer tenure the second time around. |
.. |
I dont see how he could talk about bokoharam, talk about biafra but leave out mention on fulani herdsmen and how to apply rule of law to deal with it. We need a part II of the interview and his opinion on atrocities of herdsmen and how, in his view as a Northerner, an intellectual and a regional leader, it should curtailed. |
Interesting article. One of my arguments against having an Ibo President in this country is that its inevitable he will sorround himself with Ibos, but Ibos dont have it within them naturally to be good leaders and will soon bungle authority and power vested in the Presidency and make life intolerable for the whole country. This article acknowledges that the Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo are not culturally compatible and have a fierce competition, so it advises putting us into different cages where we do not collide and blow things up. So they created regional government for each major tribe where we can run our society and people the way it fits us. It was working well before Independence, it continued to work fine after Independence but the back to back leadership of yanminri fvckd it up, first by Azikiwe in 1963, not satisfied, Ironsi demolished regionalism and made himself Supreme Commander over the zoo and put the different wild animals, previously caged in separate zones, into one arena for collision and fury. Here we are now.... |
nwabobo:A return to democracy, that was Yorubas struggle! |
SuperS1Panther:That will force them to have a rethink about population drain and bring back home their sons and daughters scattered all over and developing other regions. |
vayne:Using IGR will change mindset and facilitate active productivity for self preservation in face of measurable level of competition and outcomes. Mindsets will shift. |
Where is Nnamdi Kanu's Biafran passport? |
TonyeBarcanista:You are well spoken but you are not well taught in politics. You don't allow or give Presidential office. Aspirants must invest themselves. If Ibo wants to be President what are they erecting currently in the political landscape to secure that interest? |
TonyeBarcanista:You know, it should be nice to score and rank public officers. That way we remove ambiguity. All Hausa governors carry the mantle of Northerner on head and disturb us with noise of Arewa but yet no commitment towards a regional growth and progress. How can such people be better than governors who have championed growth, security and progress for their region? 6yrs and counting, Arewa this, Arewa that but they lack cohesion and vision to intervene and collectively push bokoharam out. These guys are poor resource managers and visionless, their citizens have abandoned homes and resttled in states where you say Governors make noise. If you would be fair, not driven by personal motive, you should advocate for rotation amongst ethnics, and not regions. Has Kanuri ever been President or Vice President? |
Tonye, The West has a lineup of politicians that were groomed specifically for corporate responsibility in Yoruba states. They are a corps of top notch performers in reserve for duty as commissioners, directors, deputy governors, chief judge, state house speaker, governor, in any of Yoruba states belonging in the DAWN and Odua Investment Corp. Ill give you an example of one who just recently passed, Dapo Famakinwa. Dapo was waiting in the wing for his next assingment as Commissioner in one of these states. Just few days ago Governor Aregbesola sworn in new cabinet members. One of the cabinet position was Commissioner for Regional Planning. So, I say all this to point to fact that Yorubas take politics in this country very seriously and attend to it with vigour. Let me put it this way....Yorubaland is a political laboratory I can name twelve available candidates for governorship posting and another 30 at deputy level in Yorubaland. Look at Ambode and his efficiency. Almost all governors in Yorubaland today and some of their commisioners have served Lagos State in one capacity or the other. The state of readiness and the vision is superb! So which region can you put up to match the Yorubas attendance to political service? None! Name two persons in North who if he was Yoruba would be in the rank of Fashola, Ambode, Amosun, Aregbe, Ajimobi, Fayose.... No region as yet operate with the kind of sophistication and discipline employed by Yorubas in practicing politics. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is a product of that reserve corps. If we admire Yorubaland and its politics then we can use it as model to reintegrate and realign political Nigeria. Anyone you bring from other region to lead us will be a reflection of what their region is. North has nothing to put forward towards national development so they use intimidation and threat of violence to cower everybody into backing off for them. Once they are in seat of power they lack clue on what to do to move country forward. East has no clue what it wants. I doubt they will havr clue on what rest of the people want. |
IGR should be our new federal character. How much is your state contributing? |
May her soul rest in peace |
Being a multi-ethnic region, it will be highly unfair for one region and ethnic group to seek to occupy the slot of the South in the Presidency in 2019 irrespective of whether it is the office of the President or the Vice President. It will amount to injustice to the ethnic nationalities in the South save the Yoruba for Yemi Osinbajo to succeed Buhari in 2019..You looney.... We practice "democratic" system of ruling in Nigeria, not SLOTocratic. |
Daboomb:Who is this? The guy you responded to said Awo committed suicide. Your response with harakiri is misplaced. Awo did not commit suicide, he had an open casket funeral. Victims of suicide are never given open casket funeral. Awo was presented in a glass see through and the view was fully multi dimensional, and the glass casket was not closed to public view at all. So your response on the maater came very short and actually supported the position of that yanminri you were quoting. Ask the yanminri how ojukwu funeral was held, and if the casket was opened and the public allowed to see him or not. Why was Ojukwu casket sealed? |
Underground political movements will usually use the type of boycott/rememberance Ibos had yesterday and the serene quietness that goes with it to pull a fast surprise on ruling government. So I was expecting that we will wake this morning to news of Kanu's whereabout. His Nigerian and British passports were taken from him. No one has taken his Biafran passport from him however, and this could get him a passthrough by facilitators through the Cameroon border, which is the closest international border to him. The sit at home was a well suited decoy to use to implement a behind-the-scene exit strategy and fast forward him to Gabon, where it is claimed the President is an Iboman. A while back the Biafran passport was selling like hot cake. So did Dilector buy one or not? Im sure it's acceptable at the border crossing. The new Biafran passport was Nnamdi Kanu's idea. It promises freedom and freewill from under the suffocating burden of the zoo. Im sure Dilector find the restrictions slapped on him by the court to be a way of arresting and controlling his free will to associate, to communicate....it snatches away his liberty as a Biafran. The key to unlock that restriction and regain freedom and freewill is the Biafran Passport. Where is Nnamdi Kanu's Biafran passport? Dilector must walk the talk now or be silent forever! |
Ok, i see! I see why Yoruba vex for this matter. Do yanminris have Eze in Nairaland? If they dont they need one. |
