Like traveling in and out of Canada?

Yea… you will need it for that.

If you don’t have the card, you will need to apply for PRTD

Hi all… please seniors that have landed, what was the time frame between landing and getting your pr card? I know it varies but I just want to have a rough estimate so I can plan accordingly. Thank you!

Honestly… you can’t get a rough estimates as the timeline is disorganized. 2 people are still waiting after 3 month ish.. another got it after 2 months.

Your COPR is enough for things you need to do that requires your PR card.

Good day house. Please what's the current realistic timeframe to get the PR card. It says 70 days on their website but can anyone tell if that's a fairly accurate timeframe or if it can take much longer than that. I landed on June 9 and I plan to travel back to naija for 2 - 3 weeks sometime in October. Thanks in advance.

The card time frame is a hit or miss.

For some it comes faster for others takes time.

When it is time to travel and the card ain’t here yet, you can apply for PRTD in naija. That one timeframe sef na gbasgbos.

Have they learned Québécois French?

You would not want to ruin your immigration plans, would you? Immigrants under PNP are required to reside in the province of choice for a period of time. I do not think it has changed for now.

I lived in Gatineau for 2 years and I don’t speak French. The only complication is when filing taxes, especially if you live in Gatineau and work in Ottawa which can be resolved if you use tax consultant.

Isn’t Gatineau in Quebec? The house prices there are so cheap but can an oinp nominee live there?

Gatineau is in Quebec. But some folks live there and work in Ottawa.

I am not sure how OINP works but, I know some provinces requires you to reside in the province for certain amount of years (it is part of the requirements).

Why a visitor need to carry cash,it not a requirement ..show ur bank card as ur means to support urself And i doubt any officer will ask you to show Bta/Pta ,they may ask how u plan to support urself ."l have my bank card with me amd that l will use" ..simple...na nigeria immigration dey complicate not canada.

Some do ask and I have seen it happen.

one person had to show their current bank statement to support what they said in their application.

Another one had to show cash.

As a visitor be ready for anything.

Remember, it is up to the border agent to allow you in or not.

Greetings to you all.

Please for those arriving Canada on a visitor Visa, is BTA/PTA still required at the POE? If so, how do one go about it urgently for a trip scheduled for next week? Thanks

It is always a different case at the border- totally dependent on the border agent you meet.

But the rule of thumb is to have your money in hand. You are a visitor, you said you have money when you applied, so be ready to show proof of such.

If them ask you and you no get proof—- back to naija.

‘Watch border services —cbsa’ to understand how far. And note this applies to everyone.

Hello folks,
I applied for US visitor visa in Toronto 2 months ago but i was refused. i am a PR holder. I have been issued b1/b2 visa back in Nigeria 2 times. my kids were born in USA and hospital fees were paid in full.
I want to ask if anyone has been in my shoes and if they later issue the visa.
Thanks in advance

You simply reapply again.

Being a PR here doesn’t give you added advantage.

Just apply again when you are ready.

Speaking of passport, does anyone know what the heck is going on. I recently checked the Nigerian embassy website to check the renewal process as my passport in expiring later this year. What started as an exploratory exercise quickly turned into a depressing adventure as there are people who went for biometric capture in February/March still waiting for their passport and the constant retort from the embassy official that there are no booklets. It's a woeful tale of lamentations and it's scary.

Also, the ambassador promised back in February that the 10-year validity passport will rolled out soon and there is no word on that yet. No surprise there knowing how Nigeria rolls.

Finally, does anyone know the stipulations about flying into Nigeria with an expired Nigerian passport but with a valid Canadian one?

That passport issue has been an ongoing crisis.

With respect to your question:
You can get an emergency travel document of some sort from the embassy that can allow you travel to Nigeria without a visa(the document together with Canadian passport should be enough - according to Aregbesola and Abike).

See this link https://nigeriahcottawa.ca/emergency-travel-certificates/

Or you can apply for naija visa.

These past weeks, I've been reaching out to my friends who are abroad to help me with links or advices to move abroad too. But I discovered that none of them decided to help, instead they discouraged me either by saying, "it's difficult to move now or the country isn't issuing visa now".

One of my guy in CANADA defiantly ignored my text when I asked him for links or the route he used to move, the other in Korea said the country isn't issuing visa now but he recently moved back and another directly said that it's very hard to get visas now to travel. But one Asian American in the States gave me lots of links to move to the State and even encouraged me to move.

But then I don't understand why our African brothers over there will never encourage or advice someone willing to move. Is it envy or greediness or what? I've never had any of my guy abroad encourage me to move when I asked for advice. If things are difficult over there, why not come home?

NB: I never asked them for fund cos the money is available.

The problem here is your dependence on them for links to travel when everything is seemingly available online and even on nairaland.

There are numerous links and posts on nairaland that give you more information on the countries you mentioned.

Even posts relating to lifestyle and how to survive are also available too.

Greetings to all.
I would like to begin the process of getting my Canadian driver's license. How do I go about processing this? I have two years of driving experience from Nigeria, and I heard I'd need to get a letter or report. Thank you. At the moment, I live in London, Ontario.

Go to the nearest drive test Center and ask for the requirements.

Hello everyone,
Pls I need answers to these questions;

1) Are kids (under 18) of immigrants registered in schools in the same class they were in their home country? OR

2) Do they move to a lower class?

3) Do they write assessment tests to determine the class they fit in according to the Canadian education standard?

Gurus in the house, pls respond.
Thanks grin

Every province/school board has a system of doing this. There is no one rule fits all.

When you land, locate a school/board closer to you and inquire from them. They would be the best to give you an up-to-date information.

Hello house, please for someone that just landed, how do we go about filing our tax? I’ll appreciate any response. Thank you

File your taxes as soon as you land.

Your income in Canada for previous year will be 0.

Alternatively, apply for child care benefits, the form should double as filing for taxes too.

Hello everyone,
Can I use an international driving license I got in Nigeria to drive automatically in Canada, or do I still need to write the knowledge test and take the road test?
Because securing a spot for a road test in my province takes about 5 months.
Thank you.

Check the province you live in and see their requirements.
