AgricultureRe: Why We Are Importing Grass By Minister Of Agriculture by Mboi: 11:13am On Mar 26, 2016
obailala:
The points I made and the points Audu Ogbeh made are very simple and clear for any person with the most basic education to understand; it is bot rocket science and at least, I believe we all did a little of agric science in high school. There are several things to gain from the initiative which includes a boost in beef and milk production and in addition, with the plan to have cattle restricted to the grass reserves, cattle herders wouldnt have to move their cows around in search of pasture and this would help avoid the recurrent clashes between the herdsmen and farmers. What on earth is so difficult to underatand in this most basic explanation?

Now the real reason why Nigeria isnt moving forward is because of people that you who have instead of applying some common sense and focus to discern a very simple initiative like this, you have emotionally chosen to only view and judge everything in this life from the microscopic prism of political/ethnic/tribal/religious sentiments. That is the exact reason the black man is backwards and that is the exact reason the older generation has refused to relinquish power to the youths; the youths exemplified by your manner of reasoning have clearly not shown any sigm that we are ready to take over.... we choose to dwell purely on emotions and refuse to use our God given intellects.

For the records, I am not a card carrying member of any political party (even though I have my leanings to the apc strictly because of Buhari and my disgust for what pdp has done to this country for 16 years). I dont personally know any politician and I am not even resident in Nigeria. I am just a concerned Nigerian who gets irked by the reasoning of people I encounter on social media everyday. For crying out loud, what on earth is so difficult for educated people to understand in this simple initiative?... why do we always see everything as a ground to make political arguments?
I now know the reason why you always support what this govt does because you don't live in Nigeria. I was wondering how a sane person in Nigeria today will still be standing in support of all the policies, actions and propaganda of Buhari and APC govt with the current situation of things in Nigeria right now.
My brother Nigerians are suffering, a lot of things have gone worse. Do u know how many people that Fulani herdsmen killed in Agatu and how they killed them? Do u know how these herdsmen destroy farmlands and kill the owners in the South east and Mr President turned deaf ears to all these. Now you want to tell us that the only way to stop this nonsense is by importing grasses for them to grow or cross breed what. The first time they talked about importing these grasses, they never mentioned boosting cow milk production and meat production. Let me tell you, there has never been any processed cow milk by Nigeria in Nigerian market, it's only Fulani and otherother local Hausas that extra cow milk manually to drink. So what mechanism do they have on ground for cow milk processing. It is a move on the right direction for Nigeria govt to establish and sustain processing of cow milk from Nigerian cows for consumption but that is not what we need fight now, there are other pressing issues directly affecting the daily lives of Nigerians which need to be addressed urgently. Nigerians are suffering, there has been serious fuel scarcity in Nigeria since last month, so much queues in filli g stations and our minister for Petroleum said publicly he can't do anything that he's not a magician. Is this govt? You said PDP spoilt Nigeria for 16yrs and I ask you, what exactly did they spoil, what exactly is working in Nigeria today that did not work better during PDP's Administration. PDP left over 4000mw in power, today we're trying to even get 2000MW. This govt is causing hardship to the masses and the worst is the so called President do not care. He keeps deceiving gullible Nigerians with fight against corruption meanwhile this govt is the most corrupt so far in the history of Nigerian democracy. Any govt that builds on lies and propaganda is corrupt. Any govt who does not obey court orders is corrupt. Any govt who violates human right is corrupt. This a govt who could not conclusively conduct just state elections. This govt lie's to the citizen everyday. The latest and most shameful one is the $200b saga which the EFCC said Nigerian past leaders dumped in Dubai banks and bought houses in Dubai with it. UAE came out publicly to deny that saying total foreign cash and investment in Dubai is not mode that $108b. So how come only Nigerians stashed $200b to Dubai? No govt can succeed with lies and propaganda which is what PMB's govt is doing. The rate of increase in inflation over d past few months have never been recorded since 1999 and u said PDP spoilt Nigeria. When this govt came into powerin may 2015, the rehabilitation work on our refiniries were almost completed and as at Nov/Dec Kaduna refiniry started operation with that of Warri. Are they working today? The last PDP govt introduced TSA, BVN, reduced ghost workers, build almajiri schools, built and commission universities nationwide, what has this govt achieved. Forex is scarce because of bad policy by CBN. People can't pay their children's school fees abroad, manufactures can no longer import materials for their factory, thousands of jobs are lost everyday, economy is stand still and all you can focus on is to import grasses for cows so dat we can start processing milk and increase meat production. Give me one reason why the govt is not clueless.

Bro, I'm not in the mood to exchange words back and forth with your type. The issue being discussed on this thread is meant for serious brains not bitter emotional political losers. Thanks.
I don't k how much they pay you to be defending them blindly. The reason why this country is not moving forward is because of people like you. The reason why the youths don't have a place in Nigerian govt is because of people like you. They paid you to come here and confuse people with things that don't exist. The first time Audu Ogbe mentioned grass importation, he said it will stop Fulani herdsmen from invading people's farms in search of food for their cows. People reacted against if, now they have changed it that it will increase milk production just to deceive Nigerians. Don't think you can deceive everybody here with those useless points you raised there, you talked about things that don't exist and you know it.
Talking of being a looser, PDP and APC, who is a looser in Nigeria today or do u think the game ended at the polls? The masses make the govt work, when a govt comes up with a policy that does not go well with the masses, they'll protest against it by any form or means available to them and the govt will sit up,change what ever policy or stop it. Here the reverse is the case. Anytime this govt goes against the people's wish, people like you will accept money from them, come here to attack anybody that says against such bad move by the govt and that is why Buhari and APC think they can do anything and Nigerians cannot do anything.

LEarn to read, read the article and get some education into your skull. Nobody here is talking of elections of TRANSFORMATION and CHANGE. You are obviously lost and, just like several others of your colleagues here who are still stuck in the past 2015.
That is the problem we have, a lot of dead brains like you all over Nigeria. Knowing how to read and write is not wisdom. The old SSCE holder u voted knows even if your parents send u to University, you'll still reason like a pupil. It's only a clueless and insensitive unrepentant old man that they made a President that will leave the pressing issues in his country and be cooking up stories and reasons so he can import grasses for his cows. Zombie will always be Zombie.

APC and Buhari will finish this country and some idiots will be foolishly and blindly supporting them.
Those who voted for APC and change are the people that put Nigeria in this mess because either they were charmed or they were loosing their senses then. A normal thinking person knows that transformation is better than change. Change can be positive or negeative, now the change you people voted for is negeative, you should've asked before voting...

It is high time we Nigerians march to the street and protest against bad governance, lies, deceit, and hardship we are encountering in the govt.
Enogh is enough. We have a petroleum minister who is telling us he does not have solution to fuel scarcity currently causing massive suffering on Nigerians.
We have a President who turns deaf ears to the killing of more than 500 innocent children and their parents in Agatu community by just cattle rearers.
We have a govt who also pretended not to notice one of his cabinet's member's fraudlent and violent activity in the jus past Rivers Re-run where APC's candidate was captured in a video demanding for the return of his N12m bribe to INEC,where the APC state chairman was shielding an INEC officer arrested by the Nigeria Police for electoral malpractice and where a youth corp member was killed becos he refused to release voters register to some thugs of a notable politician.

We have a president who keeps travelling round the world while his citizens suffer.
We have a president whom him and his agents disobey court orders thereby dashing the last hope of the common man.
We have a president who violates human rights by unlawfully keeping people in detention for more than 72hrs without trial and keep them incommunicado.

Buhari and APC should as a matter of urgency bring back our abducted school girls from Ikorodu. I thought it's only under GEJ and PDP govt that such will happen and the presidency keeps mute due to their wickedness and corruption. How can you allow young girls to be taken away forcefully from their parents and loved ones just like that. The president is the grand commander and chief security officer of our dear country Nigeria, he should as an effective and incorruptible President rescue our girls and unite them with their families.

Your ignorance nor get "Part 2"!.

The slight appreciation was because:

Price of Crude Appreciated a little bit in the last two days.
This was so because Russia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to peg output ...... (though Iran has not yet agreed to do same) being th emajpr producers around that end of the world.
This means Nigeria has "earned" more Dollars.
The more Dolars we earn, the more buoyant our own currency.
This is what Ubah and the rest of you will never understand.
grin grin

On BDC,
Some Directors of CBN have opened "BDC Shop" where they channel the Dollars Nigeria earns from sale of Crude, at OFFICIAL RATE.
They then sell this at the Black market rate, making a fortune!

This is why Govt said you cant take Dollars from us at #199.... and then go to sell at #400 to the Public! Source your Dollars yourself, if all you want to be doing is "rent-taking".
Even their "deposit" has been returned to them, as of today.

Even Banks that get forex from the CBN at #199, have been diverting such Dollars to those BDC Mallams, to sell at #400!..... and share the profit between themselves.

There are too many Criminals in this country and "Democracy" seems too lenient if not incapable, of dealing with them!
What Nigeria needs is a "DEDICATED, PATRIOTIC BUT BRUTAL DICTATOR" like Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, to come for just TWO YEARS, TO CLEAN THE COUNTRY and HAND OVER TO A CIVILIAN GOVT.

Criminals numbering into their tens of Millions cant be "handled effectively", using "Rule of Law"

The blame should probably fall on those running our Country right?,
But is it because we have a short memory, or we pretend to forget that what happened in past administrations is affecting us now.

Since the discovery of crude oil, our country has made trillions of dollars of it,
Yet we have nothing tangible to show for it, and even a war torn Iraq has more in foreign reserve($57070 billion) than us .
We discovered oil almost at the same time with Norway, yet today, Norway has a sovereign wealth fund worth $800billion and we only have $1.5billion in our's.
80% or more of our forex earnings come from crude oil, and crude is dead cheap right now, if we had enough saved in our forex reserves, that could have been used to prop up the naira, the same Ogas bashing Buhari, are the same guys who put us in this mess.

Agubushmenyo:
Mr Ubah, but some people said it was Buhari's cluelessness...

Wailers will hide their head in shame!!
Yes it is because of Buhari's cluelessness. He called BDCs thieves and fraudsters and directed CBN to stop selling dollars to them that is why we have fake free fall of Naira thereby causing hardship to the massess. According to them, selling forex to BDCs depletes Nigeria's forex reserve. CBN released news that they will start selling dollars again to BDCs @ $400,000 every week because they have seen the impact of removing them from business coupled with what Ifeanyi Uba said and the naira started appreciating immediately.
So if Bubu is not clueless he will know that BDCs play very vital role in Nigerian economy in terms of foreign exchange.
In a week, a commercial bank can have forex demand from it's customers of about $90m to $500m, since CBN does not sell enough forex to commercial banks, they use BDCs to meet their customers demands for forex.

I have already made several comments regarding the $1 = N1 rhetoric. Buhari never made such statement, but that is another story entirely.
---
As regards the excess crude account, when it was shared, the FG got 52% of the share. Can NOI tell us how she saved the FG portion?
---
Nothing stops BDCs from getting dollars anywhere to meet local demand. CBN only stopped them from getting dollars from the Foreign Reserves.
---
We can speculate about how Ubah wants to go about the $1 = N200 campaign, but if it is about setting up a BDC, then I wonder how he will do better than the thousands of BDCs currently existing.
---
As I said, it's about supply. Where is Ubah going to get his dollars from? Clearly not from CBN. If he already had his sources, he should flood the market already with his dollars and make a killing from it.
I don't want to believe you are being naive here. For the $1 to N1 issue, sorry Buhari brought it up during their campaign in Owerri.

For the excess crude account, why did governors insist that it must be shared and what did they do with theirs as well.

For what Uba said, don't think he does not have a blue print of what to do before coming to a national TV to say such. Uba is a business man and might know what to do to salvage the situation. BDC operators were many I agree but their business were surviving at the mercy of CBN. They use to get forex at subsidised rate from CBN and had no other means of getting forex. If travelex and two or more firms like them starts operation in Nigeria supply of dollars will be equal or even more than demand and you'll see naira going back to N180.
Forget about where Ifeanyi Uba will get his foreing exchange, and know he can't just start throwing dollars here and there. He must get approval from the authorities and must follow due process too. Let them give him the chance to save our economy.
