The problem is most Nigerians got their logic twisted at the heat of the recession most world economies were banging on the need for banks borrowing to themselves and SMEs, that is how the world averted a worldwide depression. They did so by averting interbank and bank-business protectionism. But in Nigeria we have simply criminalised lending which is critical to businesses and the wider economy, thereby creating a hault in the economy. Right now banks have shut all credit lines and just chasing debts. After they have recovered all the debts what will happen? They will stop lending or doing business forever? This is just madness. Already petroleum marketers are having problems in their credit lines and the queues will start getting longer at the petrol stations due to this artificial-political-banking-crisis. Sanusi is creating what will go down in history to be known as SANUSI's DEPRESSION and you guys are here celebrating idiocy. |
chuks (soludo) I ga di |
its amazing how they come up with all these talks of corruption and fraud in other to replace one fool with another fool. The Government of Umaru Yar'adua has no business pontificating on corruption so long as it still employs the very Attorney General of Fraud himself, Mike Aondoakaa. |
I think people should stop springing up conspiracy theories at the slightest opportunity. For me I think the greatest worry here is that nigerian leaders dont seem to realise that we live in the digital age and in the age of 24hrs media. Information Management is key. So this business of denying the truth inspite of every evidence to the contrary is just very childish. Someone should tell Nigerian leaders that we live in the digital age and there is something called citizen journalism!!!!!!!! There is a level of arogance on the part of our leaders that is just inconsistent with the times. First and foremost, Ribadu is a freeman and should have the right to visit Nigeria anytime he likes. I am personal disappointed with Ogbonaya Onovo. Who could be prompting him to take such childish position? Ibori? Yar'adua? or okiro? Old men should be older than certain lies and Onovo should know this. |
If Man Utd were still winning 3-2 and city were putting the pressure against Utd. That referee will surely not invent 4 minutes let alone 7. |
Cristalz:The reason your line of argument is childish is when points were deducted from AC Milan and co for Match fixing I doubt there was any AC Milan player officiating those matches. |
City boss Mark Hughes has demanded an explanation from the referee after United striker Michael Owen settled the Manchester derby in the 96th minute.www.bbc.co.uk Even Mark Hughes an ex-United player has questioned the cutomized old trafford officiation And I as a Man Utd fan I agree. I think for the sake of football FA should ask the right questions There seem to be one rule for Old trafford and another for everyone else |
Binna This is not simply a bad call, its old traffordish time and time again bad calls are made at old trafford and there has always been one beneficiary Sir Alex Ferguson's side does always benefit. I think its time the FA does ask the necessary questions and allow their retrospective officiation of football matches go full circle. |
A-40:I am waiting for post-match analysis whether football rules don change some are even suggesting that referee can even officiate the match for another 90mins ![]() Injury time is constant, there is nothing like addition to injury time. All that is expected of referee is if a ball is goal bound u just allow the attack to end before blowing. At the time the ball was in the middle of the field when rooney kicked it up, referee should have ended the match at that point cos at that time 4mins had ellapsed. |
folks if 4mins added time has been added then its 4 minutes according to football rules you can not add more time on top of the added time ref can only purnish people for time wasting but can't add more time on top of added time. |
I am tired of being a fan of a club that keeps winning dishonestly how do you score the winning goal in the sixth minute of a four minute injury time. Where is the FA and there retrospective refereeing ![]() |
Arsenal is turing into a factory for SPIN DOCTORS!!! and Robin Van Persie is very good at this. It looks like RVP is better off spinning issues than scoring goals, I think he should quit the game and concentrate on what he seems to know how to do best. Before the Match between Arsenal and Man City RVP used the Arsenal website to launch an attack on City's summer shopping saying that money can't buy love for city. Then after the clash with Adebayor he claimed his malicous, mindless and potential-career-ending tackle on Adebayor was just an ill-timed tackle while Adebayor's was intentional. (unfortunately the media bought this brutal lie and today Adebayor has been purnished in retrospect and yet no purnishment for Van persie). And then the most shameful of all . . , . . . . . . . . . , . Arsene Wenger effective bullied Mark Hughes not to appeal Adebayor's charge. In his words. . . . . Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, launched a furious attack on Emmanuel Adebayor, his former striker, yesterday as the bitter fallout from the North London club’s 4-2 defeat away to Manchester City on Saturday failed to subside.Well I have watched football in the last 20 years and Eduardo did not ease off on his dive and simulation in other to decieve the referee and get a penalty for his team. Eduardo did not just get the backing of his manager, his manager launched an official appeal in which ED has been curiously set free. So I do not think Arsene has the moral grounds to lecture any manager on how honest they should be. Arsene Wenger should be very ashamed of himself for this. By the end of this season Arsenal will fail on every front, they will not win the league and will not even qualify for champions league. Even though I am a Man Utd fan and a closet Arsenal Fan, from today onwards I shift my support. City gets my support this weekend. |
It is of no use getting into a debate on an 'ALLEDGED' argument between this two. I can only believe there is a disagreement between this two if and when Aondoakaa is sacked because the man has been due for sack ages ago. |
Mike U dey ask for suggestion ![]() u know sabi say most guys will prefer to allow the process run its cause and fail so that they can criticize. |
JProspero:You live in the misguided belief that removing bank MDs one way or the other is the solution. Helllllllooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! The number of Bank MDs you sack is not a macro-economic index. |
1. The choices available to us where never only to either do nothing or to create an economic upheveal. 2. The office of the CBN Governor is never a place for marxists. 3. Corruption should be fought by all citizens but people in high places must put the National interest at heart in anything they do. The release of El-Magrehi from a Scottish Prison is not the most morally sound thing to do but the authorities of UK have determined that it was in the country's national interest. That is what you call looking at the big picture. The CBN Governor should have the capacity to look at the big picture and make the right choices and unfortunately Sanusi came short. |
Folks Fashola is doing well but Lagos is in Nigeria and Fashola is still a Nigerian Governor The Agberos/OPC are Tinubu's base, they are his army and responsible for why PDP has been unable to crack Lagos. The same can be said of Kano State, Hisbah and Shekarua in terms of use of thugs to rig elections. May be Fashola may be popular enough to win a landslide in the next election but the Kingmaker Tinubu will want to continue to be relevant and will keep his base. Conventional wisdom would have been to discard of what is a cynical tool to winning elections. But the truth is that elections being what they are in Nigeria, these Agberos will continue to be relevant so long as electoral reforms are yet to come. Agberos will still be there so long as their is unemployment, motor parks and inadequate regulated transport system. So folks get used to it and try to remain in the real world. Fashola is the Governor of Lagos State of Nigeria and no Mayor of New York. |
Adebayor is no spitting diouf He will be fine. Arsenal committed a cardinal sin by selling a top class central defender and attacker to a club trying to break into top four and could potentially displace them. They should live with it, the mistake is already made. Adebayors attitude and disrecpect for the big four is probably what city needs to break in if well managed. |
baslone:well unforyunately Adebayor has recieved the maximum penalty for celebrating in front of opposing fans on the VP issue, their is a clause that requires the decision of the referee to stand so long as he had a close enough view. That was the case. Yes the media are playing politics but the FA will be setting a very wrong precedent if they ban adebayor in retrospect. Then they must be ready to re-referee all the matches all season. |
Some people talk about the law without having a clue please what section of the constitution gives EFCC the power to incacerate people for 2 weeks without charging them to court? On the evidence of the 4 Bank MDs, Akingbola is justified to claim he does not believe he will get fair treatment from the EFCC and will not answer their call. You cant remove people from office without due process, incacerate them without due process, because they gave out loans without due process. The EFCC and CBN are as guilty as the Banks. I thought this was the Reason Farida claims she is different from Ribadu? Or her idea of due process works when treating Governors who stole from our common treasury but not when it involves people who gave out loans? |
I will not be suprised if Adebayor comes out of this without a Ban A warning fine should be enough The British Media are very eager to convict foreign players but if its an English Boy they will spin the hell out of it. At worst they will say 'he did not need to do that' and it will be end of story. Van Persie flew into Adebayor with what is a malicous challenge, Adebyor dodged and reciprocated . . . . you can blame Adebayor for over-reacting but Van Persie should be ashamed of himself for putting such a Statement out as if he was totally innocent I doubt he would put that statement out if Arsenal won away by 4-2. The attempt to ban Adebayor for his celebration is just very ridiculous. The guy did not make any silly hand gestures. We have seen footballers go away and after so much noise from home fans if they score they tell fans to shut up by putting one finger across their both lips. Do we want to start red carding all those sort of players? |
Dis Guy:The economy is crashing And I don't think any economy of the world will survive with Shake-ups every 5 years All I think that was needed in this case was to put adequate lending frameworks in place, and bailout the failing banks if necessary with a mechanism put in place for repayment. Running to the media and Sacking 5 Bank MDs in one day is not a Banking policy And BTW those who shouted down the Banking consolidation years ago led by Atedo Peterside are at the vanguard of promoting the current Sanusi onslaught. So this is not a case of people being resistant to change, this is just politics of 'who is up' and 'who is down' and I think the economy of 150 million people can not be used to engage in political tussles without putting into consideration the bigger picture. This is why there must be due process, I PERSONALLY HOPE THE COURTS RE-INSTATE THE 5 BANK MDs. Lest I forget, apart from sacking 5 MDs and dolling out 420billion has there been any change in the Banking process that led to the current bad loans? I doubt any framework has been put in place by the CBN. None has been implemented nor announced. Talking and acting tough is no replacement to good strategy. |
Dis Guy:well I reject the notion that the only choices available to us were to either 'do nothing' or 'create an economic upheveal' I am sorry but the office of the CBN Governor is no place for marxists. Sanusi is failing and will ultimately fail if he is not stopped |
Dis Guy:Pull out what I said lets see if its not the primary selection process I was criticising rather than the party itself? Does ANPP or AC have a better instituted selection process? PDP has no values but yet so does every other political party otherwise classify the opposition parties in Nigeria based on Left, Right, Centre; or based on Conservative or Liberal. So the argument that good people can not identify themselves with PDP is based on NOTHING and not good enough. Fashola's success is not based on his party's ideals, it is nothing more than decency of the man Fahola. Remember AC is the party of Atiku, Tinubu etc. So what are we talking about? Its also interesting that Duke who was arguably the best Governor at his time is a PDP man. |
God will bless Akingbola Someone needs to stand up to this madness being perpetrated by Sanusi, I wish the remaining bank MDs will go on the offensive and charge CBN for their removal without due process. |
The Bank MDs should immediately institute a court case against the CBN Governor for removing them without due process and seek their re-instatement. The office of the CBN Governor is no place for Marxists. |
All he needed to do was to put the right framework in place to strengthen the system and if any bank refuses to re-adjust to the new order he will secretely take drastic measures to deal with the particular banks. But what we rather saw was a political pundit and social critic doing what he knew how to do best, which is create a media circus. The sacking of 5 bank MDs in one day surely can't be in the strategic interest of our economy. Now we have a CBN Governor who does not know the importance of Investor perception and confidence in the Banking sector. We have succeeded in destroying the reputation of our banking system and it will take another 5 - 10years to rebuild it. Who says we could not have done this better ![]() Some of us raised an alarm when this Sanusi circus started but people refused to see the big picture. You know we live in a country where all our woes as a Nation can be traced to corruption whether its bad roads, poor hospitals, no electricity etc. And so with this victim mentality the natural instinct is to jump on any band wagon of Anti-corruption. But the truth is the CBN Governor need to be grown-up enough to see the big picture. You need to strike a balance between Managing Risks and Growing the economy, creating an enabling environment for bussiness to thrive. However what we have seen in the last few weeks is the criminalization of what is a legitimate business process which is 'borrowing and lending'. Creating a media circus in a knee-jerk way and ending up doing a trailer U-turn on the motorway after we saw very wicked shocks on the economy and it became evident that even the remaining banks were as guilty as the 5 banks targeted. I hope the courts will put us out of this missery and re-instate these bank MDs immediately. I love Ribadu and consider him my idle, but I will surely not fancy Ribadu as my CBN Governor nor Business secratary (what u call cormerce and industry minister in Nigeria). Sanusi's courage, brillaince, stubborness and willingness to easily step on toes will be very helpful in re-making this country but those skills are surely not needed in the office of the CBN Governor. A CBN Governor needs to see the big picture and most importantly put our Strategic Economic Interest as a Nation First. |
This attempt to attack PDP is based on nothing, its part of empty politics by the opposition. Saying that people should not be taken seriously because they belong to the PDP when you have not come up with good ideas, values and clear party manifestos of your own is just very empty politics. The political landscape in Nigeria is polluted and need to be reformed and PDP being the ruling party has contributed immensely to it. But opposition has no moral right to point accusing fingers at PDP because they are no better. |
let someone get these guys on recorded video saying these things oh for proof!!!! So that we will not be in a situation where we have to choose between having an 8year limit and 4 more Years of Yar'adua or running the risk of having power not coming down South in 2015. Because we are all in agreement that Yar'adua has failed. What we don't want is if there is Yar'adua's replacement from the North by 2015 they will tell us whoever is in power need to complete 8years to finish his program |
They should go and hire good lawyers to challenge the actions of the CBN and stop being timmid |
FBS:exactly!!! I doubt if there is any footballer out there who will smile and congratulate Van Persie after such a challenge everybody should move on, we don't want to get into a situation where they begin to re-referee every match after the game is over. The bruhaha about goal celebration is even more ridiculous. At the rate they are going very soon players will not be expected to celebrate when they score goals in an away match because afterall you will be surrounded by homefans. |
Beaf:I think you are right I also agree with all of your previous post but the problem is, it will not be achieved, at least not for now. all they go to national conference to do is waste everyone's time I believe 100% resource countrol by every region on resources in their backyard will spur innovation. But we never agree on anything in this country. Even IBIME from River State will not even agree to 100% becuase he thinks its too much to ask. So whats the point of wasting everyone's time ![]() I will rather look for means of protecting people's right and negotiating better deals for nigerians within the existing law. than trying to change the law. A country that can not get something as basic as census or election right is sure not mature enough to re-write the constitution. so lets save everyone the waste of time. |
