Dr Kitaun:

I concur.

and all of u talking rubbish about Lagerback need to get a dog to screw !

Lagerback was never resposnible for that nincompoop KaHITa's moronic lash-out, was he ?

he held Obasi's leg from scoring ?

he hypnotised Osaze from coming to the field ?

was he foolish to have included Haruna who MISTAKENLY deflected into his own net ?

it must have been Lagerback that instructed TT and MORE ANNOYINGLY ECHEJILE to get injured and in the process wasting our SUBTITUTION OPTIONS ?

I weep for Naija . . .

Kaita should NEVER play for the SE again, but history might make him the gem of the next SE team just the way LUKMAN HARUNA still found his way into the SE after his MEMORABLE bleed UP at EGYPT  cry  cry

Where is Sagamite to gloat his stewpid mouth off ?  undecided

what did your largeback do to defend the 1-0 goal advantage? did he make any tactical subs when Kaita got a red card? would it have been helpful to sub one of the attack minded players for Ayila to close he midfield? What did Lagerback do to justify his mega wage in this match?

Mourinho defended 10 mmen against Barcelona in Camp Nou why cant Lagerback defend our 1 goal or at least have a maximum of 1 -1 in South Africa against a hopeless greek team?

Nobody is safe in Nigeria

The horror of armed robery in Nigeria is something else

I still have not recovered from the shock I had the day I was travelling from International Airport to my village but confronted by Armed Robbers at PH Aba expressway.

May Abubakar Rimi's soul rest in peace.

Sanusi should have been allowed to run First Bank for like 5years and lets see how the bank will progress before we hand him the rest of the economy.

This man was appointed on account of being a bank CEO. But he was bank CEO for only 5 MONTHS!!!!!!

He is clearly running the CBN like a risk manager. he is looking at just once variable in this multi-variate equation and not considering any other factor.

He simply can't see the big picture.

I really want to go to sleep and wake up in 4years time when he is gone!!!!!!!!!
Politics / Re: The Downfall Of Northern Supremacy by McKren(m): 5:56pm On Feb 13, 2010
I think this whole celebration of "downfall of Northern Sopremacy" has inferiority complex written over it. This thread is both dumb and childish.

I think what we should be celebrating is Nigeria's progressive move towards an egalitarian society where everybody has a voice no matter your religion or ethnic group. Nothing captures this more than the fact that Nigerians of all tribes, religion and creed campaigned and demanded the respect of our constitution and hand over to Jonathan.

So I personally think this thread is dumb.

Beaf:

Jonathan is deeply introverted. He has been so for more than 50 years of his life. What matters most is that he delivers.

Desmond Tutu sounds as out of place as Bakare. Both don't know what they are talking about and should keep out of politics.

Beaf cool down.

Tunde Bakare has been campaigning for weeks for handover of power to Jonathan. Besides this kind of agitation from the likes Bakare is necessary so that the moves by Jonathan to implement section 144 will be supported by public opinion.

We all support Jonathan Presidency and hope that he delivers, but as honest supporters its important to criticise him to keep him honest. A man who wants to lead 2010 Nigeria should be somewhat charismatic. Jonathan can work on his speech making abilities. We don't expect him to be Obama but he can improve.

Desmond Tutu of South Africa also became the leading voice for black south africans after Mandela was arrested.

Jonathan did not look confident and he should work on his speak making effort. For a PhD holder and fromer lecturer, its not too much to think he should do better.

And what is a good end.

A good end will be a United Nigeria which recognizes its chequered history and respects all members of its over 200 ethnic groups and their equal right.

Take a step back and listen to the Igbos. all we ask for is an egalitarian society. We were never inherently secessionist and have never been. But we refuse people imposing their ways of life on others and yet will not allow them follow their own destiny.

Let every Nigerian in every part of Nigeria lead their lives the way they wish without anybody  imposing cultures or religion on them. If we can not do this then we have no business living together.
Politics / Re: Civil war not against Ndigbo — Gowon by McKren(m): 5:16pm On Feb 13, 2010
RoadStar:

Let us cut the story short.
The biafran war is an open wound.
We should work towards healing the wound.
What initial action do you Ndigbo advocate.

1. An apology from the Nigerian State ?
2. An Apology from all other ethnic groups ?
3. Allow Ndigbo to secede. (Along what boundaries thought) will it include Urobhos, Ijawa, Efiks etc and other southern minorities is likely not attainable.
4. Igbo president ?
5. Igbo should be allowed to murder other tribes as well. undecided
6. Some compensation fee paid to Ndigbo. (who and who would get this money)

Instead of critics making all this noise what will be a starting way foward.
If you do not have any ideas on how the whole situation can be atoned can you let the issue lie.

Appology from the Nigerian State is a good start. When white people appologise for their attrocities to black people you all celebrate it. This week the whole world is commemorating apatheid. Whites and blacks alike. Some time in April the story of Rwanda genocide will be told and present day Rwandans are reminded the ills of hatred and war.

But in our country we want to live in denial and think we will make progress and reconcile like that? Sorry that reconcilation will continue to elude us untill we acknowledge the truth.
Politics / Re: Civil war not against Ndigbo — Gowon by McKren(m): 5:11pm On Feb 13, 2010

Gowon should stop talking and go and die in shame

Nigeria has nothing to learn from cowards.

If he has no plans confessing and appologising for his attrocities to his fellow Nigerians then he should die the shameless old man that he is.

CoolSunny:

If PDP is losing South Eastern States, then where's the hope of an Igbo President come 2015 or 2019? PDP at least is the machine that can be used to make that a reality. Chances would have been stronger had Soludo won in Anambra. Who knows he may later have become VP or the President? One thing is needful, seeing the future from the present and acting in accordance to realise your long term goals.

Igbo Presidency is not the solution to all our problem. I think when you attach so much importance to it makes your adversaries think they deny you anything by denying you Presidency. There are a lot of long lasting opportunities to harness in politics by being in mainstream politics. The Presidency is about the least of them all.

Apart from a feel good moment for Igbos and creating employment for 1 politician of Igbo route. I don't know what else it will change. Because I don't know that the allocation to SouthEast states will increase as a result, nor do I know that you can legally have more opportunity than anyone else then. Because all policies will still need assembly approval to take effect.

Like everyone else we should all aspire to produce leaders. We have in the past and we can do it again. BUT IT IS NOT THE GREATEST OF OUR PROBLEMS.

I guess we both agree that PDP and Iwu did not "allow" Obi to win; he actually won, and hell would have broken lose if they rigged in Andy Uba or PDP. For Soludo, he lost because he is in PDP.
The mistake folks like you keep making is that you underestimate APGA and what it represents. That was the undoing of PDP, LP, AC and PPA. For the first time APGA has earned the respect it deserves.
My only problem with APGA now is that it seems their national chairman Victor Umeh is not as resourceful as the former one -Chekwas Okorie.
That party is beloved in the south east but the party leadership needs urgent reform.

That south east is a PDP region is the biggest myth of the day. South east is APGA, but PDP has been rigging the polls.
Politics is fluid anyway, but APGA will win south east if they play it like in Anambra.

Well if that is how APGA hopes to capture the rest of South East then I am sorry that dream will not material anytime soon.

The rest of the world will not sit down forever and allow APGA have a field day with what they want forever. If you think South East is predominatly APGA I can only say you think that based on who you know and what their political ideologies are.

The cynical politics played by APGA in Anambra will not fly in the rest of SouthEast.

Folks don't buy the crap of a powerful kitchen cabinet

There is a limit to their powers. If Yar'adua is not there and can not be proven to be there they will immediately eveporate into thin air.

This is what happens in politics, when you leave a void they are usually filled by special ineterests.

This void exists because Jonathan has refused to act. And that is the truth. If Jonathan does act this so called kitchen cabinet will have no say until they are able to produce the President.

However if Jonathan knows that he is happy with the status quo and want to remain loyal to them and his boss, then he should sign the budget, play along and stop heating up the polity by ignoring these things so that we can all move on.
Politics / 80 Days On The Sideline Is Enough Mr Jonathan Goodluck by McKren(m): 6:11pm On Feb 09, 2010
Time for Jonathan to act is now to quell this crisis

No need for double face . . . . . .Mr Jonathan must stand up for what he believe's in and act on conviction for what is right. He should show some leadership, address the Nation asking everyone to remain calm. He should now authorise a fact finding team led by Edwin Clark or General Andrew Owoye Azazi or Ufot Ekaette or anyone else he Jonathan can surely trust including in the team those who claim to be best friends of Yar'adua as well as independent professional high level medical doctors to go to Saudi Arabia to find out the truth.

If they go to Saudi Arabia and are refused access to Yar'adua, then the team can legitimately come home with the conclusion that Yar'adua is missing and the assembly can impeach him for gross misconduct, if he is found to be incapacitated then we will know and FEC can start the process under section 144 to remove Yar'adua. If he is well and responding to treatment then they can come home and say so with a letter from the President saying that he is on medical leave and we can all move on while we pray for President Yar'adua to get well soon.

If the President is too sick to sign a letter, then he is incapacitated. Its that simple

This business of displaying unwarranted loyalty in the media by Jonathan and turning around to refuse to sign documents or filling in for the President like a Vice President does is in itself gross misconduct. Leaders can get into trouble for their ACTIONS or INACTIONS.

In this case Jonathan's inaction is getting alarming and should as well get him into trouble. After 80days of power vacuum, the Vice President should begin to show some leadership or resign if he is uninterested in his job.

Tomorrow's FEC meeting is a big opportunity. He should not be decieved by the yeye resolution passed by NASS today, it amounts to nothing. He should thank the Senate for their effort to resolve the situation quickly but demand that there can be no substitute for the due process of the law to take its course. He should then allow Dora Akunyili's memo to be discussed. After which he should announce a plan to send a delegation to go on a fact finding mission in Saudi Arabia on his behalf.

That will mean having two commander-in-chief

if the other one comes back what happens after swearing in the VP?

Senate should impeach Yar'adua so we can move forward.
Politics / David Mark Leads Senate Into b.o.o.b.y Trap? by McKren(m): 2:14pm On Feb 09, 2010
Has David Mark succeeded in misleading the Senate?

The present resolution by the Senate could be overturned by a law court as being strange in law and yet it could be used as an excuse by our notorious AGF Aondoakaa tomorrow as to why the FEC does not need to discuss the issue any further since it has been taken care of by th NASS.

What we have from the Senate is far from what we need. The Senate should impeach the President for gross misconduct if they wish to see an end to this crisis.

They have simply designed a crisis-within-a-crisis with this resolution.

Otherwise the FEC must begin the process to declare Yar'adua incapacitated tomorrow. Jonathan can show some leadership too.

I HONESTLY THINK NIGERIANS SHOULD GET READY FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE CAMPAIGN. WHICH IS PROTESTING IN FRONT OF THE SAUDI ARABIAN PRESIDENT TO COME CLEAN ON WHAT THEY KNOW ABOUT YAR'ADUA

THE FORCES OF DARKNESS ARE NOT READY TO CEDE POWER. WHAT I PERSONALLY FIND CURIOUS IS THAT THESE FOLKS AONDOAKAA INCLUSIVE ARE VERY SHORT SIGHTED. WHAT DORA CALLED FOR IS PERHAPS A VERY SOFT LANDING FOR YAR'ADUA. HER MEMO IS PERHAPS THAT OF A LOYAL FRIENDS TRYING TO BE HONEST TO HER BOSS ON THIS OCCASSIONS THAN A PROTEST MINISTER OF HERO WANNABE AS AONDOAKAA SEES IT.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer in Saturday’s guber polls in Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo yesterday surprised the majority of the people of the state who thought he would be heading for the court to challenge the outcome of Saturday’s election when he declared that the governor-elect would have his support.

Making the declaration at a press briefing, Soludo who was adjudged the highest spender in the electioneering campaign stressed that inasmuch as INEC has declared Governor Peter Obi winner of the election despite the grave flaws, he would support him for the future of the state.

“Finally, let me use this opportunity to congratulate my friend, Mr. Peter Obi. In spite of the grave flaws, INEC has declared you the winner of the election. The fight is not about us, but about the future of Anambra State. You will have my support,” he said.

The PDP candidate, however, stated that they were not unaware of the unhidden hostility of INEC towards his candidature, adding that intelligence report came to them of INEC’s decision to return Mr Obi.

According to him, “we were never under any illusion as to the breadth and depth of the obstacles on our way. The fear of Soludo on the political saddle was palpable and the high-level conspiracy to stop Soludo was also very evident. INEC as the umpire never hid its hostility towards us as well as the fact that it was an interested party to stop Soludo. We received the intelligence report of the ‘decision’ to ‘return’ Peter Obi.

“Throughout the campaigns, we called for a free, fair and credible election. We even suggested the adoption of Option A-4 as we remain convinced that we will win landslide in any free and fair election in Anambra State.
“What happened on the 6th February portends ominous note for our democracy and adds another dangerous dimension to the rigging process. The voters register was fraudulently manipulated to exclude hundreds of thousands of voters who have valid voters card.
“Furthermore, in most places the voters’ register used at the polling booths were different from the ones displayed or given to the political parties.

Even people who had verified and confirmed their names during the display of voters register could not find their names at the polling booths. We are convinced that this manipulation was systematically designed to rig us out as the problem was most pronounced in PDP strongholds.
“We saw tens of thousands of our supporters stranded in every local government. We earlier complained about this fraud and we were assured that anyone with a valid voters’ card will be allowed to vote. We told our supporters but they were utterly disappointed. INEC officials confirmed to some of our associates that they came to Anambra with a mandate to ‘return’ APGA, and their brazen activities left no one in doubt.

“The brazen manipulation of voting and closing times, selective choice of which results to accept and which ones to cancel, and outright manipulation of the results in many cases designed to achieve the objective left the election results a charade. There was no voting in Obosi (a stronghold of PDP with about 45,000 registered voters); ward results in Aguata were cancelled and several manipulated to achieve set objective; the electoral officer for Idemili South local government admitted at the state collation centre that the result for Action Congress was inadvertently bloated by 10,000 because she was ‘sleepy’ and yet it was accepted; Onitsha South and Anaocha were a huge joke.
“There are serious concerns about the results in all the local governments. What happened in Anambra is what a friend has described as ‘administrative rigging’. Hundreds of thousands of people who turned out to vote and with their valid voters’ cards were disenfranchised. Can this be described as a ‘free and fair’ election? Curiously, all those on record to have dismissed the process as neither free nor fair during the voting have made a U-turn to hail it because the outcome is favourable to them. Was the first reaction a dummy to conceal the orchestrated plan?

“To the millions of Anambra people who are sad because they see the potentials for their brighter future being delayed, I ask you to cheer up. May we all keep our eyes on the ball. Despite the seeming temporary setback, I still have an abiding faith in the Anambra project. I strongly believe that 40 years after the Nigerian civil war, Anambra’s renaissance is inevitable. I believe that politics remains the only veritable avenue to ensuring enduring democracy and development. I have stepped out and will devote the rest of my life to public service.

“We remain deeply grateful to the President, Vice-President, the state governors, members of the National Working Committee and leadership of our great party, PDP, the leadership of the National Assembly, members of the campaign organisation and the election committee, our numerous financiers and stakeholders, our numerous friends and well-wishers, and millions of supporters. The road ahead is long, and by the grace of God, we shall overcome. The struggle for a better Anambra State and Nigeria has only just begun.
“This experience has among other things revealed to me how desperately Nigeria needs fundamental electoral reforms. A situation where INEC determines whether and where voters can exercise their right to vote as in the case of Anambra cannot augur well for our nascent democracy. Together, we can fix this problem”.

But voter turnout was extremely low, according to INEC figures. Just 301,232 of 1.84 million registered voters took part, a figure partly explained by so many names being missed off the electoral register, local election observers said.

ELECTORAL REFORM NEEDED

Ngige rejected the result, while Soludo described it as a charade marred by "brazen manipulation." But he accepted defeat.

"Let me use this opportunity to congratulate my friend Mr Peter Obi. In spite of the grave flaws, INEC has declared you winner of the election. The fight is not about us but about the future of Anambra state. You will have my support," Soludo said.
