Sun of god:

Hold one man responsible for the misfortunes of a state he no longer governs.

I think there are 'bigger devils' within Anambra that the people need be more concerned about.

'Kalu' is a relatively small devil in comparison.

My brother say what you know, Orji Uzor Kalu and his mother are still very much running Abia. He controls the security Aparatus and have classified dossiers on Theodore Orji (the sitting Governor) which he can use to unsit him anyday he likes which is why he made sure Theodore Orji won the elections from Prison. Also remember that Theodore Orji was Kalu's Chief of staff.

Guess who the current Chief of Staff to the current Abia Government is? You guessed right!!!!

Mascott, Orji Uzor Kalu's younger brother . . . . . . . Masscott is waiting in the wing to replace Theodore as Governor whenever the need arises.

So enough of the Kalu dominance, Imo State has prevented him from exporting his vissionless dominance, Anambra must also do the same by rejecting Ekwunife.

Na wa oh!!! when will they offer Sani Lulu's job to a Foreigner?

This penchant for Foreigners is getting ridiculous.

If there is anything that needs foreign management it is the administration of NFF.

Sani Lulu should offer his own job to a foreigner too.

We are turning into a country of CYNICS.

If one can not hold a political view without being paid to do so. It follows that while Okocha may have been paid to support Soludo, others would have been not to do so.

So you guys might like to start by telling us who paid you to oppose Soludo and how much you were paid?

Politics / Wow! Okocha Joins The Fray For Soludo by McKren(m): 4:02am On Feb 01, 2010
Okocha To Mobilise Youths For Soludo

FORMER Super Eagles Captain, Austin Okocha has joined in the campaign for Professor Charles Soludo's election as the Governor of Anambra State in the forthcoming election.

Specifically, the football star said he has concluded arrangements to mobilise youths in all the nooks and crannies of the state in the quest to rally support for the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Disclosing this at a parley organised in honour of Soludo by the Anambra Indigenes and Friends yesterday, the erstwhile football talisman said even though he was not involved in partisan politics, he could not afford to be indifferent to a candidate "who has drawn up a comprehensive programme of engaging so many youths productively."

Okocha regrettably attributed the frequency of criminal activities like political violence, assassinations, cultism clashes, prostitution, armed robbery and kidnapping to unemployment.

He said he was sure that should Soludo emerge Governor of Anambra, the trend would change for the better.

Okocha humorously added: "If I had not discovered my talent in football early enough, I probably would have been one of the kidnapping kingpins today."

He said even though his parents came from Delta State and he grew up in Enugu, he still regard himself as an indigene of Anambra State.

"In any case", argued the football hero, "Professor Soludo is a national icon and all well-meaning Nigerians should support his vision to make Anambra a model state in development, which will make the nation develop faster and better."

The reception party which held at Colonades Hotel was well attended by entrepreneurs, technocrats and professionals from Anambra State including Chief C. C. Ifeanyi, the immediate past president of the Association of Anambra Town Unions in Lagos; Engineer Boniface Madubuenyi of Mabon Petroleum Group and Donatus Okonkwo, one of the gubernatorial candidates in the forthcoming election who is widely expected to step down for Soludo this weekend.

The boy (Okocha) who grew up in the old Anambra State giving his bit to bring about change in the State.

No matter what happens on Saturday, Soludo has run a very brilliant campaign and mobilised people from all class of the society.

No matter what heppens, Soludo has set a standard on how to run a Guber campaign.

ndu_chucks:

I don't have much patience for people who are slow to learning. Most of us, would like to see Jonathan as acting President with full executive powers - the earlier he becomes acting President, the better we all will be.

Yar'Adua has not violated any part of section 145, period. The senate is simply trying to force him to do the right thing and transmit the letter that will enable Jonathan to take over temporarily.

Ever heard of the phrase "the letter and spirit of the law"?

Are you proud that a supposed democratic government is inventing a loophole in the law in other to disobey it?

Aondoakaa is responsible for the floating of section 144 into the political discuss in his quest to render latest attempts by the NASS irrelevant and bring back the political discuss and determination in the hands of the FEC.

I think Aodoakaa's thinking here is he will be able to bully the FEC to get his will but he may meet his waterloo here because sure a lot of water has passed under the bridge since December 10.

I think the candidates and the organisers should all be ashamed of themselves.

Don't they see when political debates are organised in other countries?

You are not even allowed to clap even if you think anyone is making a good point. You only clap when all the candidates have been introduced and the round of appluase is for all of them simulatneously.

This is very diabolical. They should put their acts together next time.

They should realise it's not about who bullies who, its for all Anambrarians everywhere in the country. Was it televised though?

No prompt time, no modalities, no follow up questions . . . . . . . very shambolic.
Politics / Re: Why Is Andy Uba So Scared Of Asking For The People's Vote by McKren(m): 3:23pm On Dec 20, 2009
Nigerian courts need to stop allowing itself to be used as an obstacle to the democratic process.

Andy Uba's plot to adopt the 'Imo option' for his own future and adopt the 'Atiku Option' to stop Soludo would have had a better chance if there were elections going on in the rest of the country. But right now, Anambra's misfortune of yesteryears is now its todays fortune.

The fact that its guber election is holding differently simply means that the only way to win is to go out their and ask for the people's vote.

Andy Uba/Maurice Iwu will fail this time.
Politics / Re: See Soludo's Plans In Detail- Africa's Dubai Taiwan! I Am Soooo Excited! by McKren(m): 12:46pm On Nov 22, 2009
The future of a country will continue to remain bleak so long as its citizens refuse to hope.

I am not alarmed by the dream to turn Anambra to a model Dubai or Taiwan or Japan or Whatever. I studied in Anambra for 6years, 1 year predegree course at Mbaukwu and 5years main course at Unizik, Awka. My time there was very educative not just because I was in Higher Education but because it offered me a chance to learn a lot more about our people and our space in Nigeria's geopolitical landscape.

Anambra like its name suggest is truly 'HOME FOR ALL' (Anambra nwelu ebu nwe mfu). Yes the roads used to be very bad at Iweka in Onitsha and most parts of the State, yes there was robbery in most dark corners of Onitsha just like you have in most parts of Nigeria.
But behind these ills you could still find the enormous ingenuity of the people waiting to be captured. Do you want to talk about the skills of Auto and spare part Artisans in Nnewi, or the fact that any new cloth designs anywhere in the world would surely have an indiscrimanable replica made in Iweka within weeks (and this includes Versace, Calvin Kelvin, Amani etc.), or do we want to talk about that the current success in Nolywood was possible thanks to the ingenuity and big dreams of Onitsha Film Directors when they launched the movie living in bundage.
Apart from these skills, that State is known for commerce and industry and has been known in the whole West Africa if not Africa even before most of us were born. The State has got great potential  with the dredging of River Niger as well  as the discovery of Oil.

So with all this potentials it is disheartening that all some want to talk about as their plan for Anambra is building roads and paying teachers Salary on time.

It is not impossible to set in motion a dream to better the lot of Anambra. Dubai or Taiwan may be used as part of the catctphrase to remake Anambra but surely these reforms will have a Nigerian feel to it. All may not be achieved either before Soludo leaves office but begin we must and whoever takesover can continue with these dream if Ndi-Anambra and South-East by extension could identify with it. All that is needed is a public-private sector partnership and Onitsha traders will begin to enjoy the kind of Government support they need to take their Business to the next level. Reverse-Engineering can also be used to help legitimise the copy-cat attitudes of some of our brothers in the skilled trade so that they can build a viable business they can call their own. This is what China does, they don't invent anything . . . . . .they mostly copy.

I also have no doubt in the ability of the man SOLUDO to dream big and set actions in motion to pursue those plans.  I am also impressed by Soludo's still and grit under fire. Soludo has a big heart and the heart of a LEADER.

I hope he wins.
Politics / Re: Anambra: Prepare Handover Note, Soludo Tells Obi. Jonathan, 7 Govs For Campaign. by McKren(m): 11:51am On Nov 22, 2009
Folks let us put Soludo's comments in context!!!!!

There should be a guber election in Anambra 4 months all of a sudden Peter Obi wants to conduct council elections in the State. He had 4years to do this but did not, why 4 months to next election? His intentions are surely questionable.

Now talking about Soludo's comments. In a civilised society come February 2010 while Peter Obi is preparing his manefesto and plans for his next tenure, he will also be writing his handover notes in case he fails at the polls. While Obi's supporters will be hoping that all he Obi has to make public is his plans for the next 4years, Obi's opponents should only be interested in his handover notes. So SOLUDO simply reminded OBI what a natural opponent to anyone in a political contest should be saying.

OR ARE WE SUGGESTING THAT SOLUDO SHOULD ASK OBI TO ANNOUNCE HIS PLAN FOR 2010-2014? surely that will raise the question whether he is even confident about his chances in the first place.

Nigerians need to grow up politically. This comment by Soludo is strategic as well as psychological, if Peter Obi decides to be cowed by it, its his business.
Politics / Re: Lets Talk About Ngige by McKren(m): 6:41pm On Nov 10, 2009
I honestly think any of the three will be better than what Chris Uba has to cook or Andy Uba himself.

I also thank God for Chris Ngige and praise his courage to come to the realisation that his dance with Chris Uba was on the wrong part of history and the effort he made to correct his mistakes.

However I honestly believe that in any civilised society people will continue to question his judgement as to why he allowed himself to be used that much by his fellow man and that has direct impact on his leadership qualities. I think Chris Ngige is a fine man but I question his leadership and judgement.

I also encourage Anambra people to ignore the argument about Soludo being an imposition. Given that there was an existent court order preventing the PDP congress from taking place before the INEC deadline to submit a candidate. Those who went to obtain that court order can not turn around to call Soludo an imposition when the PDP NWC was left with no choice thn to only use other options of selecting a candidate or risk not fielding one at all in february 2010. I think Soludo was duly selected by the PDP, if the people of Anambra think Soludo is not suitable for the job then so be it. However his selection was within PDP constitution.

I am also worried about Arewa now declaring Chris Uba a democrat and rising in a cominique to suggest Chris Uba's attempt to enforce democracy when it is he Chris Uba who has been the source of confusion. I am also worried about President Yar'adua attempt to prevent the ecclipse of Uba from the PDP by stalling the inuaguration of the new PDP caretaker committee. President Yar'adua always seem to act quicker on his rule of law when the the interests of his corrupt friends are threatened. It seems to be some will rather like charlattans to dictate the play in the South East. I think Igbos must rise up this time and reject this.

Finally I also think Peter Obi is alright. All in all let the Anambra people decide between these three fine men Obi, Ngige, Soludo.
Politics / Re: Lets Talk About Ngige by McKren(m): 6:25pm On Nov 10, 2009
The sad story of Anambra state is that the actors in the then PDP who destroyed the state can by merely joining alternative parties become born again politicians who should be given a chance while people continue holding PDP responsible.

The major actors in the crisis that rocked Anambra State started with Mbadinuju, as we speak Mbadinuju is now a member of AD. Then we had Chris Ngige who is now in AC, then there is Chris Uba who is on his way to PPA and then you have Andy Uba who is more or less a lone actor. Yet people still continue to take their eyes off the ball to blame the PDP.

The reason Nigeria's political misfortune will continue is Nigerians refuse to think strategically. PDP will continue to be relevant in every state politics in Nigeria because they are the ruling party. If Soludo is humiliated in Anambra polls come February 2010 the only victor from that result will be Chris Uba. The message to the ruling party will be if you shun me or shun motor park politics you loose. Meanwhile Peter Obi or Ngige will win the office without any real power because the fact that a PDP dominated State House of Assembly will continue to leave either Ngige or Obi weak and meaning that Chris Uba continues to remain relevant.

with the look of things, Chris Uba looks like he is headed for a roadblock. We can either checkmate him by enthroning a new emerging force within PDP in Anambra which by all accounts is more civilised and can control the Uba brothers or we can continue running in circles by attempting to reject a party for the sake of it when there is actually no alternative choice based on the universal principles of multi-party politics and ethics.
Politics / Re: Ngige, Soludo Or Obi: Who Would You Choose As Your Candidate And Why? by McKren(m): 7:56pm On Oct 19, 2009
Anambra consider this when you vote.

The Anambra House of Assembly is still very much PDP controlled. Ngige will have problems with a PDP dominated house where Chris Ubah still is able to pull strings.

I think Soludo will be a force for stability as he has the right connections to command the loyalty of the house.

Anambra post 2010 should be talking about economic development and not battle for the soul of Anambra between Ngige and the Ubah brothers.
This confusion must not continue forever.

Ngige is a good man but has shown from history an inability to cage the Ubah brothers.
Politics / Re: Ngige, Soludo Or Obi: Who Would You Choose As Your Candidate And Why? by McKren(m): 10:00am On Oct 19, 2009
I am honestly tired of the childish argument that Ngige's dodgy nomination during a tour of Onitsha and then conducting an election to legitimise it is democracy. How can you have a predetermined result and then conduct an election to reflect your pre-determined result and you call that being credible. THAT IS A CHARADE.

Given the circumstanses PDP's nomination of Soludo is as good as those of AC or APGA. We need a wholistic overhaul of our politics and the notion that some are getting it right while PDP are not just tells me we probably don't even know what we want.

So forget the parties in question here, its all about the decency of the leading contenders which is only a good thing for Anambra.

Fashola was as much an imposition on his party as Soludo is right now. And yet Fashola is doing a good job more than Tinubu or AC can ever immagine. Before we gloss over AC being a holy party need I remind you that is is still the party of Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar.
Politics / Re: Ngige, Soludo Or Obi: Who Would You Choose As Your Candidate And Why? by McKren(m): 8:38am On Oct 19, 2009
Folks the people of Anambra will do with what you are FOR rather than what you are AGAINST.

You are better off telling us what you saw in Obi's manifesto or Ngige's manifesto that make you want to vote for them rather than the childish talk of Soludo being a teacher who should not tarnish his image, or Soludo being an Abuja slave. Some of these just sound to me like childish jealousy.

Are we saying that we have nothing we stand for? we are just against Soludo?

Surely we should have more serious reasons to vote than that.

I wanna thank those of us who see through the facade that Ribadu has been selling. I want to align with those who believe that Ribadu and Ibori are birds of the same feather. Now that we all know that Ibori is thief, we shall wait for Ribadu to answer a lot of questions like:

How many exotic cars does he own?
How many houses (home and abroad) does he own?
How did he join the police, on merit or by federal character or by man-know-man?
Why didn't he tell us the names of those involved with the Halliburton and Siemens scandals?
What role did he play in installing Yar'dua?
What role did he play in third term?
What he did to those who were distributing N50m apiece to NASS members to push 3rd term (remember this happened in broad day light at a bank in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja)?
Why is he afraid of defending himself before the same courts that he used to "prosecute" Ibori?
Is El Rufai, Obj, Andy Ubah & Co corrupt?

Politics / Re: More Bank Ceo's To Go - Update 1 by McKren(m): 5:59pm On Sep 27, 2009
What people are failing to realise is that the corruption in the Banking Sector is more fundamental than who the bank bosses or employees are.

It has more to do with how our system works, who we are, and our values.

We are trying to create an economy that is integrated with the rest of the world in the 21st century and somehow we are hoping to do that without having adequate frameworks and these are where Sanusi should be focusing on and not victimising businessmen who did business the way business was done in Nigeria at the time, albeit unethical.

We live in a country where people can walk up to the coperate affairs commission and set up a company with fictitous names and then use that company name to obtain loans from banks without adequate credit checks just because they are prominent in the society.

May be what we should be concentrating on is to create a strong National identity system, setting up credit reference agencies, and other regulatory agencies like the FSA in the United Kingdom. With these organisations like CAC can not register un-existent business leaders, and banks will not be lending money to un-existent people.

Sanusi can also work with lawmakers to set up the necessary laws to make sure their is hope to correct these in the future.

Instead of doing the small things that matter that will lead to better business practices, what we have seen is a CBN Governor more intrested in talking down the economy, criminalizing lending and borrowing, victimising bank MDs and rounding them up without due process.
All of these hot headed approaches are not solution to anything, they can't solve anything for anybody.

Someone should tell Sanusi to grow and stop trying to make history for the sake of it. At the rate he is going he will make history for the wrong reasons.

McKren
What is the point in calling Sanusi a cynical fool
I dont get it. . .

Well you can debate whether he is a fool or not, may be I am wrong and I do hope I am wrong because the man is already occupying a very sensitive position.

But I do think most of his choice of actions so far have not been very wise.

I also have no doubt that Sanusi is very CYNICAL because he has not focused his actions on growing the economy but talking it down by spending more time on what is wrong with the economy than what can be right about it.
We also all know how important trust and investor confidence is in any market. So I have no doubt that he is a very cynical guy.
Politics / Re: More Bank Ceo's To Go - Update 1 by McKren(m): 5:05pm On Sep 27, 2009
Sine1:

I also have a confirmed story from insiders.

A bank CEO had 200 million used 20 million to buy some property and then sold the remaining millions for some more millions and billions.

Now my question is
Who are your 'insiders' Mr Jarus?

No we have to take his word for it just like we have to take Sanusi's word for it.

No proof!!!! They just make up things and expect the rest of the world to believe it.

I also have my Insider source telling me that Sanusi has concretised arrangement to destroy confidence in the Banking Industry just to take over the banks through the backdoor and sell them to his cronies.

At the end of the day, regardless of who is telling the truth and who is making it up, the economy of 150million people are at risk.

You know Sanusi said recently in his BBC Have your say answer session that he favours more banks than less banks. I believe that with that statement lies the truth of these bruhaha. He did not even need to destroy the economy to have his cronies in banking business. All Sanusi needed to do was to grant more licences to his friends who he wanted to share a pie in the financial sector. He could have also used the advantage he has as CBN Governor to favour his cronies and their banks if he likes and at least may be the economy would have kept booming.

So it was not even necessary in the first place to destroy the system and take over existing banks through the backdoor to achieve his motive. Sanusi is just a cynical fool.
Politics / Re: Ibb Calls For Decentralisation Of Power by McKren(m): 4:25pm On Sep 27, 2009
My dislike for IBB has always been that he knew the right thing but refused to do it.

I am still suspicious of this cunningness as we speak.

There is a part of me that wants to believe that the reason IBB wants to welcome devolution and decentralization of power at this time is because of the realization that Most of Nigeria's Uranium reserve are in the North and given that Nuclear Energy is the future os the world's energy source may be black gold in the delta may continue to be less and less important.

So I personally think this is far from being a sign of repentance, its just a very shrewd adjustment from a shrewd pragmatist! I am not very impressed.

While I welcome it because this country will be better off if all parts are self sufficient, I don't think I have any reason to celebrate what IBB says.

We would like to know what your weaknesses are.
Hmmm. I think I have a temper. I think I could be more cautious in my choice of words in speech - perhaps I say too much at times, say more than I need to.

It's something I need to watch as a Central Bank governor. I think sometimes I'm a bit inflexible and I've got to realise that it's not in every situation that your view is always the correct one and if it is the correct one, it doesn't always have to prevail.

You have to pick the issues that are really important and where there will be no compromises and those where a small compromise will not cost that much.

http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5422919-146/Exclusive_interview_with_the_new_CBN.csp

The above are Sanusi Lamido Sanusi's own assessment of his weaknesses just when he became CBN Governor, unfortunately this guy is allowing this weakness to get the better of him yet the dumb Government of President Yar'adua does not want to rein in on this guy before he destroys what is left of our economy.

Unfortunately we eroneusly have a CBN Governor who thinks the number of Bank MDs you sack is a MacroEconomic Index.

Now he wants to create a Risk department
This guy is looking at everything from one point of view.

Does he actually have any plans to grow the economy? creates jobs? make small businesses thrive?

Does he have anything positive.

Sanusi should remember that he will be judged by what he builds not what he seeks to destroy.

Folks what do you make of this issue of concensus candidates in Nigeria's politics

Political parties in Nigeria claim to want to deepen internal democracy and yet there solution to that is having concensus candidates rather than having party delegates vote for who they want their flag bearers to be.

I think this smacks of laziness.

When you call for a concensus candidates is'nt it the case that who ever emerges will be seen as the establishment imposition on the party which defeats the purpose of trying to deepen internal party democracy.

Why can't we have clear rules of who party delegates are and how they can vote to elect leaders
