@Atiku07 Go and tell your principal not to be carried away cos we all know how the justice system works. He has gone to pay someone in lagos to pass the judgement as he so wishes. We are waiting for the judgement from the Abuja high court which will obviously contradict this one. Meanwhile dont come here trying to threaten anyone Atiku cant be president he is not fit period. Court judgement quashing allegation that he misused PTDF fund ok tell us one judicous thing he spent the money in. Well the verdict by Akande has only quashed the case based on the fact that there was not much evidence which he Atiku did everything to destroy, it is not a certificate of good character. The court in Abuja may see enough evidence on the other hand. You know what Atiku is just making mockery of our justice system and he should not celebrate otherwise he will be celebrating too early cos OBJ does not loose too many battles and will surely not loose this one. Go and tell your principal that Nigeria has moved beyond his likes he will not be president. |
it is not Anti-Atiku campaign it is rather a campaign for better Nigeria which Atiku cant be part of. |
I keep on saying it, to find out the truth about 53suitcases type Atiku Abubakar in to www.wikipedia.org. You will know the truth. |
Mariory you have said it all, Some Nigerians like toremain in poverty for the rest of their life. Atiku or IBB come from a culture where every other person arround them tell them rankadede to eat their breakfast, they have even built a situation where the same people will even tell their children rankadede in future for them to eat breakfast and they want to foist that on the whole Nigeria. It will not work, I wish Nuhu Ribadu will build up his own school of thought to counter this useless so-called blind loyalty of Notherners for their elders. What has their loyalty brought them other than poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy. Go to the streets of Adamawa you will see loads of beggars while Atiku is living in affluence. Well you may want to argue that the same is obtainable everywhere in Nigeria but at least the average southerner will not be unnecessarily loyal to someone who is not adding value to his life. To prove this OBJ's greatest critics are even from his own tribe the yoruba why can the Hausas learn to do this let us make Nigeria a better place. Whether Atiku likes it or not no presidency for him, I personally think he should spend time to ensure that he does not go to prison. |
i have said it before that adedibu should go and pick form for presidency, chris uba should be his vice because they are both as qualified as ibb and atiku ;d ;d ;d ;d ;d ;d ;d ;d ;d |
TayoD I absolutely understand where you are coming from about constitutionality. The type of hostage Nigerians are held right now is just like the type the old Italian Mafia held the Italian people to. Go and research how the mafia was defeated and the role of Giovani Falcone u will understand where am coming from. in brief look at this, After several years of planning, the trial began on February 10, 1986. The presiding judge was Alfonso Giordano, flanked by two other judges who were 'alternates', should anything fatal happen to Giordano before the end of what was going to be lengthy trial. The charges faced by the defendants included 120 murders, drug trafficking, extortion and, of course, the new law that made it an offence to be a member of the Mafia, the first time that law would be put to the test. Judge Giordano won a lot of praise for remaining patient and fair during such a mammoth case with so many defendants. Some of the defendants indulged in disruptive and rather alarming behaviour, such as one who literally stapled his mouth shut to signify his refusal to talk, another who feigned madness by frequently screaming and fighting with guards even whilst he was in a straitjacket and one who threatened to cut his own throat if a statement of his was not read out to the court. Most of the crucial evidence came from Tommaso Buscetta a Mafioso captured in 1982 in Brazil, where he had fled two-years previously after escaping from prison whilst on day release during a prison sentence for double-murder. He had lost many relatives during the Mafia war, including two sons, as well as many Mafiosi allies such as Stefano Bontade and Salvatore Inzerillo, and so had decided to cooperate with the Sicilian magistrates. The Corleonesi continued its vendetta against Buscetta by killing several more of his relatives. Testifying against the Corleonesi was the only way he had left of avenging his murdered family and friends. Tommaso Buscetta (in sunglasses) is lead into court at the Maxi Trial. Some evidence was also presented posthumously from Leonardo Vitale. Although Buscetta is widely regarded as the first pentiti (and was certainly the first to be taken seriously), back in 1973, 32-year-old Leonardo Vitale had turned himself in at a Palermo police station and confessed to being in the Mafia. He said he had committed many crimes for them, including two murders. He said he had been having a 'spiritual crisis' and felt remorse. However, his information was largely ignored because his unusual behaviour, such as self mutilation as a form of personal penitence, lead to many to regard him as being mentally ill and his detailed confessions therefore unworthy of being taken seriously. The only Mafiosi convicted by his testimony were Vitale himself and his Uncle. Vitale was held in a mental asylum then released in June 1984; six-months later he was shot dead. There were many critics of the Maxi Trial. Some implied that the defendants were being victimized as part of some sort of vendetta of the magistrates. The Sicilian writer Leonardo Sciascia said that: "There is nothing better for getting ahead in the magistracy than taking part in Mafia trials." Cardinal Pappalardo of the Catholic Church gave a controversial interview where he said that the Maxi Trial was "an oppressive show" and stated that abortion killed more people than the Mafia. Other critics suggested that the word of informants - primarily Buscetta - was not the ideal way to judge other people, as even an informant who has truly repented is still a former criminal, liar and murderer and may still have a vested interest in modifying their testimony to suit their needs or even settle vendettas. It was also said that such a huge trial with so many defendants was not making allowances for the individuals, an attempt to "deliver justice in bulk" as one journalist put it. The information that Buscetta gave judges Falcone and Borselino was highly important, and was termed 'The Buscetta Theorem', in that the believability of his claims of the existence of the Mafia was central to the case. Buscetta gave a new understanding to how the Mafia functioned and how the clandestine groups of hierarchy in the Sicilian Cupola See how an ex-criminal was used as witness against the mafia, to bring them to justice. How right is that? may be not but if you think of the many people that have been mudered and intimidated you will accept the aproach. That is the same case with Nigeria. Justice may not have been done to Dariye, Fayose or Alams. But what about the millions of Nigerians who have been deprived food as a result of the activities of these men, what about those who have died of disease. Alams is currently undergoing treatment abroad if people like him put the necessary healthcare facilities Nigerians will not be requiring treatment abroad. Remember that they can afford to, how many other people cant afford to travel abroad. How many other people have died or will die because they cant afford treatment. You see if Ribadu keeps on waiting for the constitution he will not get anywhere in 100years trust me. Those who are wide questioning the constitutionality of the removal of Dariye and Fayose has other interests. Trust me, its not something any Nigerian should spearhead. Because whether you are comfortable or not the bad state of our economy has direct or indirect effects on us. You know what TayoD constitution or No I want to see more Governors go Orji, Sani Yerima, Igbenidion etc they should be impeached. |
wanna know the truth about 53 suitcases? log on to www.wikipedia.org the online encyclopedia and type Atiku Abubakar. Then you will know which to believe. |
Re: 9ijaMan "The greatest sin against a country is not to break it laws but to break its constitution" My dictionary defines constitution as, The system of fundamental laws and principles that prescribes the nature, functions, and limits of a government or another institution. The document in which such a system is recorded. Constitution The fundamental law of the United States, framed in 1787, ratified in 1789, and variously amended since then. So that the laws of the land is a component of the constitution. When you break the law you thus break the constitution. Yes Obasanjo has questions to answer about some impeachments but there is need to separate which from which. If you have brought the EFCC into the equation then you are approximating the whole thing which is not fair. Let me explain, The impeachment of Ladoja and Obi where unconstitutional no doubts but they had nothing to do with EFCC. I find it very disturbing when people talk about spate of impeachment and count those as 5, for me there are only 2 unjustified impeachment and we must know this. DSP Alameiseigha was caught in the act so too was Dariye, That of Fayose the facts are there. When people start talking about of constitutionality in defence of a thieving governor you begin to wonder if the constitution in the first place empowers these governors to embezzle state funds. Where was the so-called constitution when they stole. If we had an ideal democracy most of the state assembly will not wait EFCC to remind them that such people should be impeached. They refuse to do their job, rather collude with the governor to pepertrate more evils on the people. Even when the EFCC reminds the house to do their job the governors try to exploit the slow process of our justice system to remain in office till the end of their tenure after which they hope to escape from the country. The truth is that I dont know the problem with Nigerians, instead of people to protest the immunity clause in our constitution which has meant as soon as you vote a governor you are invariably giving him the right to embezzle all you got or kill your brother and not answer for it we are busy criticizing the EFCC. For me I dont care what any person thinks I will tell my grand children about Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the man who is single-handedly fighting Nigeria's revolution. His job is not easy, if he is to follow religously ourconstitution which in the first place I think is flawed he would achieve anything. At least if not for anything virtually every politician is pledging to fight corruption meaning he has been able to bring to our awareness that coruption should no longer be our way of life. He has identified the need to weed it out of our system. Kudos Nuhu Ribadu!!!!! you are the Giovanni Falcone of our time. |
Mr Abubakar came up the ranks of the ruling PDP primarily, due to the pivotal role he played in its formation. He was also an ardent opponent of President Sani Abacha, the late dictator. Atiku's source of wealth has caused some curiosity among Nigerians but that also goes for many other wealthy Nigerians, including his boss - Olusegun Obasanjo. He has said in a new biography yet to be published that he made his money, "through wise investments, hard work and sheer luck of being at the right place at the right time," but many think this statement is just a smokescreen. He worked as a Customs Officer for twenty years, rising to the rank of Deputy Director before turning to business and politics in 1989. While serving as a Customs officer in charge at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos in 1984, the infamous "53 suitcases" scandal belonging to the late Emir of Gwandu happened. He was alleged to have waived all formality to let the Emir and his entourage through without even searching one suitcase. Most customs officers at the scene were shocked and appalled. It was also later alleged that many of the suitcases were filled with money. This incident incensed the then Head of State, General Buhari and his Deputy, Brig. Tunde Idiagbon, who ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter, to the chargrin of the Head of State's then ADC, Maj. Mustafa Jokolo, who was also the Emir's first son. The Finance Minister at the time, Onaolapo Soleye and another young but influential Army Officer, Col. Chris Alli, tried in vain to plead Atiku's case before Buhari and Idiagbon. Fate conspired in Abubakar's favour just as his trial was all set to go ahead: General Ibrahim Babangida, in an effort to save his own skin, overthrew the Buhari regime. This worked perfectly well for Atiku Abubakar, who was eventually eased out of office (effectively sacked). I HOPE IT IS CLEARER NOW, IT IS ONE OF THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF NIGERIA'S PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT. THAT IS THE SOUGHT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE ASPIRING TO RULE 2007 NIGERIA. THE OTHER ONE IBB HAS BEEN PART OF EVER SUCCESSFUL COUP IN THE HISTORY OF OUR NATION. THOSE ARE THE EXPERIENCE THE OLD FOLKS CAN BOAST OF. |

If after all the provisions of section 137 of our constitution and IBB, Atiku, Andy Uba, are campaigning for election. Then Nigeria is a banana republic period. I don't even know what Adedibu is doing why has he not picked the PDP form to contest guber election in Ekiti or Naija president. |
It is a shame that people have aloud the fight against corruption as a fight against anti-third term forces. Well Fayose was not against third term, Dariye was OBJ's boy before his ordeals, Wagbara was also OBJ's man. Yes I know someone will like to say what about Uba or Adedibu. Someone will even say OBJ himself is corrupt. No doubt about all this but for me I think it will be foolhardy to say because we want to checkmate OBJ's dictatorship we now enthrone someone who has a track record of abuse of office and fraud. Guys see what wikipedia holds of Atiku in his 53suitcase scandals. Then there was no OBJ or EFCC witch-hunting yet he dispalyed his traits. People have to wake up and forget sentiments we will not mortgage our future in our quest to give Atiku sympathy votes. This man will take us 30years backwards. This worked perfectly well for Atiku Abubakar, who was eventually eased out of office (effectively sacked). So that if not for IBB's coup against Buhari's government in his quest to protect his wife's drug bussiness scandal this man should either be in jail or an ex-convict. Guys forget sentiments Atiku is not fit. Going by section 137 of our constitution and the indictment by the administrative panel of enquiry Atiku is not fit. He is going about telling people he is the most investigated VP in the world. Before he goes about adding that to his CV he should remember that his not being arrested is not because they did not find him guilty rather its because he has an immunity from prosecution. In a civilised society he will resign and allow trial to proove his innocence, even Jacob Zuma of south africa did resign. He Atiku has chosen to hide his sins using Nigeria's immunity. For OBJ or NOT, Third term or NOT. Atiku should forget 2007. |
BigB1 I am pretty sure you dont know about your principal IBB, cos if you do you will not gamble with your future or those of your children. For more info about IBB visit www.againstbabangida.com The man has too many hurdles to scale, let me highlight a few. *There is a protest match by National Coalistion for Democracy to checkmate his presidency starting in Minna and then to other zones led by Umaru Farruk, the gruop that swiftly protested his picking presidential form in Abuja. *Pronnaco under the leadership of Anthony Enahoro is mobilizing Civil Society groups against him. *WASU with a membership base of 60million students under Daniel Onjeh is launching a protest match against him. *Gani Fawehinmi is on his way to court of competent jusridiction to challenge IBB's presidency using the Okigbo report, of course no need to tell you what that means going by section 308 of Nigeria's constitution which bars all who have embezzled money in the past from contesting. *The PDP has set up a panel led by John Odey to screen him out using the same Okigbo report. *Millions of Nigeria are also out there crying for justice and petitioning him to God. IBB cant even campaign, other presidential aspirants are going around the country soliciting for votes he cant even do that, why? IG will of course not be available to follow him arround. People will stone him to death if he tries. You know what BigB1 go and tell your principal that we will not gamble with our future in the name of democracy, we will not wait to stop him at the polls, we will rather choose to be both proactive and pre-emptive. We will truncate his ambition before the polls. IBB is a threat to National Security. BigB1 better change your support to Donald Duke because you seem to be a dedicated man. |
Those who think Duke is soft are being decieved by his look, the man is a very strong willed person. If there is any governor who can strategically fight corruption without fear or favour he is the man. Its not about making noise. Those who think he is from minority should spare us that trash, this is 2007 Nigeria let us enthrone him based on merit. Forget tribalism, our past leaders are not even tribalistic. What has IBB, Atiku, OBJ, Orji, Odili done for their people. Politicians are just exploiting ethnic differences to impoverish us none of them in the believe the least bit in tribalism. Orji in 2003 worked against Ekwueme today he is shouting Igbo Presidency!!!! All those governors shouting power should return to the North what did they do for their people. They only proclaim ethnic sentiments because they will be the eventual beneficiaries. As far as am concerned there are only two tribes in Nigeria, the Elite and the Masses so forget tribe. Come to think of it most of those campaigning have not even told Nigerians their programmes except Duke. They have no Idea what to do with power. BigB1's principal "IBB" wants to deploy his skills to mainatin the stability of Nigeria. ? IBB's Skills= Being part of every successful coup in nigeria's history ? Stability - Are we in a civil war, why do we need stability? All these are trash the qualities IBB posses are not what anyone will desire in 2007 Nigeria. If there is any war we are faced with its that of poverty and unemployment which he IBB laid foundation to, damn !!! I said I will not type about IBB anymore cos he is a non issue. Odili has no other idea other than to share oil money equitably, that tells you what a laim duck president he will be. Others aint even worth discussing because all they know is sustaining President Olusegun Obasanjo's economic reforms without telling us how to go about it. The truth is that Donald Duke is out best bet, Pat Utomi should have gone to senate cos I personally think he is a theorist. He might know a lot, there is more in running a government which he might be lacking. However if PDP fails to give us Duke then Utomi in AC will stand as a fall back. For all those who think votes dont count in Nigeria, for all those who think nothing works out in Nigeria. Also remember that there is a point in life when some things cant just continue to happen. we will find out feet someday and that date could be 2007. 2007 is make or break for Nigeria. Vote Donald Duke for President. |
In the west people pay their tax religously, but the average Nigerian will prefer to pay tights in church and evade tax. Given the religous complexity of the Nigerian state I dont think churches should pay tax to the state. But what the EFCC should do is to serve as a control check to churches to make sure the revenue genarated is being deployed to add value in the lives of members of the church. Because many times in this country you see people skipping meals because they want to pay tights in church meanwhile the head of the church is living in afluence. That is exploitation by every standard whether he is a man of God or not. |
there is hardly anytopic in nairaland thats already running to the 7th page. I hope this guy is very popular as well on the streets of Nigeria. We need to make him Prez. |
God bless you Odeku. Obasanjo has said time and time again he is leaving in 2007, not sure what Nigerians want. The truth is that some people are trying to rise to power on the anti-third term platform. I personally think such people pose a greater danger than OBJ. Anti-third term slogan is a smokescreen to cover there impunities. Thanks to all those who fought on our side during third term war but being anti-third term will not make people who have a track record of corruption to be credible candidates in 2007. |
UNIPETROL? is that even a school?? thats a filling station or garage dont know how you guys call it in canada. |
Even OBJ has said it that the conversion of saul to paul to damascus is a bible thing, e nor dey happen again. Guy man na guy. Who marry play boy should be willing to have a playhusband. |
People are just being naive in here. Noboby says OBJ's hands are clean, he may have done questionable things but at least he thinks the status quo should not continue. Probably the most appropriate thing OBJ would have done is to allow all man chop then come 2007 hand over to Atiku and the game will continue abi?. May be if he did that he would have been more popular right? would he personally have lost anything if he did just that? When some people want to be sincere they tell u OBJ uses and dump people, if the fight against corruption has destroyed his relationship with his closest allies then whose interest is OBJ actually protecting? Dariye was OBJ's ally before his ordeals, so too was Fayose, Wagbara, Tafa Balogun, Afolabi, Fasawe, Marwa. Yes there is the question of Adedibu, there is also the Ubas. Being a president is not just white and black like we see it, OBJ needed to soil his hands to rise to power in 1999, he also needed some people to remain in 2003. But what matters most is where are we today in the fight against corruption. In 2003 election was openly how much you can spend, people were sharing money openly and anyhow but today people are campaigning on the slogan of war against corruption promissing to continue the fight. That is a huge shift in values. Forget Uba and Adedibu they will soon meet their waterloo, once upon a time Anenih was all and all but today he is not that influential. Rather than criticise the system what Nigerians should rather do is to cash into the system, work closely with EFCC and enthrone credible leadership. Forget EFCC and selective justice. If they go into transcorp like you guys think OBJ will be removed someone like Atiku will take over and we will go back to square one. We have the greatest opportunity to enthrone true leadership that will be clean enough to give an unselective fight to corruption post 2007. I am not being biased am just facing the peculiarity of the Nigerian situation. |
am impressed with the quest to register, people should so that we can see if we can actually win back our country. However we need to be patient with the e-registration because if it works it will help a lot. So that people will no longer make bogus claims of votes that dont exist. |
What resources and skills does IBB have that he wants to offer Nigeria. Stollen wealth and being part of virtually every successful coup in the history of our nation are just the perculiar things he has. I dont know what you are after BigB1 but for me and many other Nigerians those are not the qualities we desire our president to have in 2007 Nigeria. |
@Big B1: you are in a lonely island I am sorry for you. The case of Donald meeting violence in maidugiri is not about his person its about a strugle between PDP and ANPP over the control of the state. Does it not suggest something to you that of all the 16 presidentail candidates who went to pick the PDP form only that of IBB called for a protest by people in abuja. I dont know what your motivation over supporting IBB is, but I am so convinced that soon the picture will be clearer to you that the man belongs to the past. He is unfit to be president, he destroyed all that democracy stood for. Only God knows how guys like you think you will succed, WASU under the leadership of Daniel Onjeh with a membership base of 60million students are planning a protest match against him. Pronacco under Anthony Enahoro is mobilizing the civil society against him. Nothern coalition for democracy (the group who swiftly protested his picking the PDP form, a fact which accounted for his leaving the PDP secrtariat through the back door) is launching a nationwide campaign against him starting from his backyard MINA. PDP has set a screening panel under the leadership of Publicity secretary John Odey to screen him out. Gani Fawenhinmi is compiling his sins using the Okigbo report, Dele giwa etc to challenge his candidature at a court of competent jurisdiction. Of course you and I know what that means to INEC screening giving section 308 of the Nigerian constitution. He also has EFCC/ICPC to contend with during INEC screening, no need to emphasize what the man NUHU RIBADU (The Giovanni Falcone of our time) of our time will make of him. Most of all millions of Nigerians are out their petitioning his case to GOD. Big B1 if you think we will fold our arms and wait for election time so that IBB will go and swindle the votes of naive people in our rural areas, especially in the North. Then you are underestimating the precedence of justice over your so-called democracy. There is nothing democratic about IBB taking part in elections, cos he destroyed all democracy stood for. We will not wait we will be both proactive and pre-emptive. Why has he chosen to make himself an obstacle to public desire, once upon a time he was an obstacle to democracy today he is making himself an obstacle to generational change. IBB does not command the much power he had as military head of state, if we could chase him out of office then with all his security outfit, we can easily stop him now that he is just one man hidding in a prison yard somewhere in mina. He is a disaster and a threat to National security. |
What I fail to understand is how Atiku is able to produce cheques linking whoever criticizes him in the war againts OBJ. I guess that says a lot about the source of those cheques. After the talk of producing cheques linking El-Rufai to PTDF I said to folks that I will not be suprised to see cheques linking even Gani Fawehnmi to PTDF. Well the truth is that these cheques even say a lot about his person, if he had all these evidence why did he not let the Nigerian people know all this all this while as our number 2 citizen and defender of the constitution. Why does it have to take him being accused to come up with all this. Guys I dont know what u think about this guy but go onto wickipedia.org type his name and see his record as custom boss and his clearing of suitcases belonging to Emirs. He has a track record of abusing his office to pepertrate corruption. I dont know what you think but this guy is not fit to be president. |
