Christianity Etc › Re: Is It Right For Churches To Pay Instrumentalists ? by Mckybarf(m): 10:06am On Nov 26, 2012 |
This is a very dicey issue and always treated with mixed opinions everywhere but to understand this one needs a firm grasp of the livites and the charge laid on them by God concerning the tebernacle and its duties. What i must emphasize is, anybody, whomsoever is concerned with the activities of any church and with this i mean a church worker( pastors, usher, singers, instrumentalists, etc) is a spiritual levite and thus entitled to some emolument of some sort. That notwithstanding, doing that robs all of us of the blessing that comes with voluntary service that is rendered without expecting anything in return, the which the christian life is all about. This too oughtn't be an excuse to rob people who render service of their due. At least, a little something to motivate them will do no harm. One thing to note is that these people spent resources and time in training themselves to be useful. He who sows or harvests does so with expectancy. Besides, why muzzle the ox that drives the plough? |

I still wonder why people- even self acclaimed christians still cant seem to get straight about this whole issue of tongue speaking. As far as i know from scripture, there are two kinds of tongues- prophetic tongue, which requires an interpretation and devotional tongue which is just a believer speaking to God. I for one use the devotional tongue and have encountered the use of the prophetic though not personally. Cant fathom why people always seem confused about this. |

In africa in particular, it is 'me' first before anything else. Elsewhere, it is country first be 'me'. Its our mentality we need to change. Idokojimmy: Globalization has made international politics interesting, especially with the adoption of Darwinian theory which emphasizes survival of the fittest. The interdependence of nations, has made countries to have friendly and hostile ally, even though there appears to be no permanent friends in international arena. Friendly allies are those that will be readily available to offer assistance in times of trouble, hostile ones will stop at nothing untill they frustrate your policies, programmes, diplomatic relation, international image, and in most cases they work towards disintegrating that country. These hostile nations use foreign media, international NGO, and other machinery to further their agenda. It will be recalled that the USA once predicted that Nigeria will disintegrate come 2015. As a follow up to this prediction, they have carried out propaganda about our dear country, writing fake reports using internationalal Organisations, questioned our policies, fault our programs, frustrated our economy, and will stop at nothing to see that their prediction becomes a reality. I will not pretend that Nigeria is a better place, but all well meaning nigerians must express optimism. That it isn't good now doesn't mean we will remain perpetually backward. Most of these reports are exaggerated to suit their plan. For instance, how do they collect data for these reports? How many Nigerians do they contact to get data from? Do they interview our parents in the village, or visit the hinterland where common men live? Obviously they don't. They come with preconceived idea, run around in Abuja, recruit disgruntled persons that will serve their interest, use and dump them. The product is: Nigeria is worst, don't go there, and the likes. Their reports are biased, preconceived, totally false and ultimately against our unity.
What do we owe our nation? Follow them condemn Nigeria, and allow their prediction come to pass or work to correct perceived challenges? there we go again- africans! Always pointing fingers and accusing others like dumb retards yet we fail to realise that our problems and their solutions gave always rested with us. Please, we were also given brains with which to think. We keep talking of the oriental giants and how they have progress, but we never want to traverse the miles they did to get to where they are. Stop blaming america, naija, and start thinking with your brains. |

Whether you marry or not violates no traditional laws but doing it write is what matters. I am aware of the hell that unmarried people of our society go through but that doesnt make it no more a tradition. |

Miss_3v3: I have been dating my boyfriend for about 2,5years and even till now am not sure if he is the one. He seems very sure about me but sometimes i feel like the real reason apart from the fact that i love him, that i am still with him is he is such a nice guy and am afraid that i may not find a guy like him again.
We have different backgrounds(grew up abroad while he has never left the country, different thoughts( am more "westernized and he is kinda local ). Sometimes i feel we are too incompatible like i am the type of woman who believes in a relationship, all should be equal. i don't want a man that thinks it is just a women's place to be in the kitchen just like i don't think it's only a man's job to pay bills or buy everything just because it is a "man's" job.
When i get married i have no problems with sharing cost's equally our bills etc just like when we both come home from work. The least he can do is help out perhaps with dishes etc not expecting him to cook but if he did it once in a while to surprise me then i would not mind . But my bf is more of a women's place is this and a man's place is that. Another potential problem which i just realised could be a problem is am going to be earning way more than him.
I am currently doing my articles towards chartered accountancy and he is currently working in real estate business he got a new job. I am afraid that i may become the boss of the house because if am paying bills and he is not even willing to help me with some of the things at home, i think there will be a problem.
Another issue is we are currently in different countries, we have been having a long distance relationship and i see him during holidays. Now am not sure if i want to relocate and give up everything because i can have more opportunities here then there especially for a man am not sure of.
I don't think he is willing to relocate because all his friends are there and family and job wise he may not get a job here. He seems indecisive about his future as he wants to go back and study and i don't know am very confused. Sometimes i find him childish and not mature enough even though he is 2 years older then me.
Should i hang in there or call it quits? i dont think the problem with you two has anything to do with background: its about how much you both are willing to sacrifice in order to make your relationship work. You are completely different people and until you both are willing to compromise a little for each other, it will be difficult to exist as a couple. |

Do you think it would be better if we all were of the same tribe and same religion? the problem of nigeria and any other society with multi-ethnic and multi-religeous systems is just a lack of peaceful co-existence and tolerance. Until we see ourselves as brothers and sisters and eliminate that mentality of feeling superior to others, which is only based on vanity, we can never see eye to eye. Despite our differences, we can let go of the radicality and extremism which on breed tension and conflict fuelled by fanatism and tribal and religeous. These are the exact words my younger sister said yesterday when i visited my family house, though she is a working graduate, my parent have been piling pressure on her to bring a man for marriage
my sister 31, has never liked the idea of renting a personal accommodation, she prefer the idea of moving' from her father's house to her husbands house'.
i really don't understand why my parent don't want to appreciate the fact that, unlike men, women have limited say concerning the timing of their marriage,as far as my parent are concerned "she is due".
i understand their are many ladies out there undergoing the same challenge.
what i don't understand is "why d pressure"?
i need more advice to giev to my sister pls. you will never appreciate it until you are a mother yourself. Why? for centuries, as far back as in Eden, man has been grappled with the problem of inability to take responsibility and to be held accountable for our actions. Its an inherent habit of ours to point fingers at others instead of owning up to our misdeeds. Adam, when confronted by God over his disobedience blamed God for giving him Eve, and she in turn blamed the serpent. Jackie Green, 19, was born a boy named Jack After seven attempts to kill herself and two years on suicide watch her parents let her become a girl On her 16th birthday she became the youngest person in the world to have a gender reassignment surgery Many little girls dream of growing up to be someone like Jackie Green.
An aspiring model, the 19-year-old’s cascading chestnut hair, porcelain complexion and aquiline nose are reminiscent of a pre-Raphaelite muse, or maybe one of the Downton actresses. Today, the former Miss England finalist is dressed in this season’s Seventies-style prints and a statement necklace. ‘Topshop,’ she smiles when I ask about the designer. Her adoring boyfriend of two years, also 19, is with her when we meet at a gastropub in North London – and she exudes confidence, which no doubt helps in her job as a hostess at the Burberry store in Bond Street.
Yet the road to becoming the self-assured young woman she is today has not been easy – for Jackie was born male. Happier than ever: Jackie Green, now 19, became the world’s youngest person to undergo gender reassignment surgery at the age of 16 Aged just four, and then named Jack, she told her mother Susan: ‘God has made a mistake, I should be a girl.’ Trapped in a body she hated, Jackie first overdosed aged 11 and made six more suicide attempts before she was 15.
Medicines were locked in a safe and knives had to be hidden away. She threatened to mutilate her genitals. And so, aged 16, Jackie Green became the youngest person in the world to undergo transgender surgery. ‘Without that surgery, I wouldn’t be here now,’ she says bluntly. ‘I’m a girl, I always have been – there’s never been any doubt in my mind about that. It’s just that my body didn’t match because, as far as I’m concerned, I had a birth defect.

Baby mama: let me educate those of you who don't live in the USA about how the elections work here so you don't celebrate Romney's win of Mississippi and South Carolina
The country is somewhat divided into red state i.e. Republican states and blue states i.e. democratic states These are areas that traditionally vote along those lines so the candidates are expected to win in those states, nothing to celebrate there.
However there are 9 states that can swing either way They are called swing states or battleground or purple states These are the only states to watch
The states are
Florida Ohio Virginia North Carolina new Hampshire Colorado Nevada Wisconsin Iowa
Every state according to it's population and number of representatives is assigned a certain number of electoral votes The total number of electoral votes for all 50 states and Washinton DC is 538 and to win the presidency the candidate must have at least 270 electoral votes OBama winning all the traditional blue states and Romney winning all the traditional red states will not earn either candidate up to 270 electoral votes,so the swing states come into play. So far if Obama wins Florida from that list,he is likely to win the residency since Romney will have to win all the other battleground states to win. Romney must win florida to stay viable in the race .
So celebrating Romney's win in West Virginia is like celebrating ACN winning in Lagos State thanks for the info. Many people seem a bit confused. |

It only tells one thing, you are least of what you claim yourself. You arent as important as you want people to believe. I think 'class' should not be depicted by what you wear, because it isnt uncommon for people of 'low society' to spend their fortunes to buy the most expensive of clothes and most annoyingly, wearing them to sell at the market. The important thing is to work on your demeanour and how you carry yourself about. You can be most and yet be seen with super class. |

ACNBB: ....We all don’t have crystal balls to see into our future, so we generally work by faith and instinct. With that said, how has prophecies from pastors or prayer warriors affected your life in the past?
I personally believe that once we hear from someone, our thoughts and actions are somewhat skewed either in a positive or negative way because there is so much power in words. And if you haven't encountered any....please do not pay attention! Just pray and ask God for directions. So do you believe in prophecies about life issues (e.g. career, marriage and so on), how do these pastors have the power to see into the future to determine what is right or wrong for someone? Sometimes when my mind is godly (state we all long to be), I pray and ask God to show me things in dreams and he does. But dang! I feel there are so many prophecies going around these days! (Well, when you decide to pay attention).
I have friends who go through lives moments with prophecies from different pastors and it’s quite disheartening. In my opinion, it’s almost same as visiting a psychic to predict what next (which I feel is evil). I may be totally wrong with my outlook on prophecies but what’s your take on it? for someone like me, and judging from my background and what i've been through in life, prophesies have strengthened my will to live and my resolve of a sure success because all the prophesies i have recieved so far have only confirmed what i have always believed. |
