deolutolu: Good morning guys, I was refused this morning. Based on eligibility. Something like purpose of visit or insufficient fund would have made more sense but ineligibility for me is incomprehensible. Does anyone have an idea of what eligibility entails. I plan on applying for my gcms note. Any help in that regards would be appreciated too. sorry for the delay, share ur profile to help us know more |

Senatorkolade: Nigerians are the most problematic people in the world with the way we abuse things. Before now, Canadian study permit applications were not difficult for Nigerian students even with PGd or ordinary diploma but some unscrupulous Nigerians abused this privilege in the past by absconding when they get to Canada. If this trend is not reversed, Masters applicants may be treated in this way in the future even with funding. I have heard of a Nigerian who used the funding money paid into his account to sponsor his family for SPWP application and now running up and down to look for the school fees when it is time for him to pay. Some abandon their study looking for money. I don't know why a 24 year old student is running up and down looking for money to build house in Nigeria leaving his Masters degree to suffer with the funding he got. This is embarrassing. We had training with some Consulars including some Canadian Consulars. One of them told me that they get information about Nigerian applicants' tricks in study permit applications through the blogs. He mention some including this Nairaland. I was shocked to hear this. I then stylishly asked how he got to know about the Nairaland, he said they got to know when a study permit applicant mentioned Nairaland in his "Statement of Intent" he submitted to the Canadian High Commission. Since then, they have been peeping into what Nigerians post there. Please,I will beg people to stop posting fraud or indicting posts on Nairaland. The VOs are here.
Also I beg people in the name of everything you believe in, if you know that you don't have the primary intention of studying, don't apply for the study permit. Better go for Express Entry and that will be better for you.
For those considering the option of bringing their family into Canada through the Spousal Work Permit, if you apply for your spouse less than a year you get into Canada, you are endangering the SWP application. This is because you mentioned your family as one of your home tie when you applied. Now the same home tie is what you want to bring in. This gives the VO a doubt about what you initially told them. Mind you, you wife's Spousal Work Permit is a continuation of your initial study permit application. VISA Officer will reason that if you as the Principal applicant does not respect the terms of the visa given to to, how will he/she believe that your spouse will respect the terms of the work permit. This is logical. Mind you, your school gives the CIC the feedback on how you pursue your program in Canada. Well said bro |

jnyuwa02: Depends on what you or your brother want to study. I am saying stay away from applying for postgraduate diploma and certificate courses in Canada because many people have encountered problems getting TRVs with such admissions. VOs want to determine that you would be a serious student and remain in school for them to grant you visa. I guess it was borne out of experience of Nigerians using certificate courses admission as a short cut route of getting a visa and absconding into thin air and not attending the school they promised to attend. This is because PGD is very easy to get into. So you will do yourself a world of good by applying for a regular masters program that is rigorous, where you have to write thesis proposal/statement of intent, find supervisors and meet other stringent demands. That way when you go to a VO with your acceptance, they will take you as a serious student whose purpose of study is really to study. I am not saying PGD are not serious students who want to study. Going the PGD route is really risky because of the rate of denial for a visa in that arena because of common perception borne out of experience of absconding PGD students granted visa in the past. So settle down and patiently go through the rigorous masters admission process, you will find somewhere even with that GPA. There are no shortcuts to life's greatest achievements. Bro this is 100% not true, applicants going for diploma gets their applications approved so please stop giving wrong advise to people on this. Yes we have see more people going for Masters getting trv but that's because the number of people going for Masters and PhD are more than those going for Diploma. The only thing u will say on this that I will allow is if an applicant is qualified to get a masters admission and he instead opted to go for a diploma but if someone isn't qualified for a masters program he/she has every right to apply for a PGD program and it will be APPROVED, everything depends on how the applicant package his/her application and GOD'S grace. so @Eilenora check schools that will accept ur 2:2 but if there isn't any in Canada then apply for PGD and state it in your sop that u would have LOVED to go for Masters but u didn't meet up the requirements for it and also tell the vo the importance of PGD (make sure u convince him). Thanks |

mcobex: Good, u said ur uncle pledged 60k, is the 25k (tuition fee) part of it? if it is then the balance will be 35k. So I will suggest he pays that amount into ur personal account so u can print ur statement of account + ur 500k. there's no harm in u submitting ur statement as the 500k has origin (all u need say on ur sop is that the 500k is from ur siblings for ur studies). From my little calculation CAD35k = #10.5mil so that's almost how much he has to pay into ur account for ur upkeep (though the minimum cic request for is CAD10K = #3million ). Let ur uncle state in his letter of support the money he is pledging and give the date he pays the money into ur account (u will also state it in ur own sop) Cc: @Charts |

jnyuwa02: There is always a need to prove relationship. How about if someone to razzle dazzle Canada and get a visa, convinces a close friend to transfer money into his account to get a visa and after his gets his visa, refunds the money back? Been sponsored by a close relative and proving that relationship is always convincing than been sponsored by some stranger or friend. And what makes you think even a family member can't remove the money from the applicant's account as soon as trv is gotten? The thing is this as long as the sponsor explains his or her reason for wanting to spend such hug amount on the applicant and pay the applicant's tuition fee or pay the said amount into his account (case where the school doesn't accept fees until trv is secured ). if I may ask you, why do you think cic later ask some applicants to provide another letter from the bank to assure the funds will be dully exported to canada when trv is secured? |

Please I need to know if I should apply for my study permit via online or paper? I base in Lagos. And please what is the meaning of upfront medical? I awaiting your swift response. Thank you! Congratulations on your admission and welcome to the forum. The route will depend on you as both routes are the same, though if you intend submitting lots of documents then use the paper route (but mind you that your passport will be with cic during the entire process of the application), but if your documents aren't much then you might use the online route (you don't need to submit your passport until when a decision has been made of your application). Upfront medical means you doing your medical at a cic designated clinic/hospital before you apply for your visa while if you don't do that before you apply then you will have to wait for the vo to send you medical Mali before you will be able to do it |

I believe your reasoning is similar to mine about a good profile like this.
But I noticed that in some cases, these VO's want to see the applicants effort as regards what he/she have in bank even if an uncle or aunt commits his/her whole life to help.
Smh.
It is well. Yes especially if the applicant is at a certain age bracket, even if the money isn't much |

We will only be paid after the first 6 months of service and my payment will be backlogged.( we have still not been payed even now)
-Sponsored by my maternal uncle Affidavit/ prove of what he does-( owner of his company) , sponsorship and relationship was submitted. -Sponsorship letter on his company letter head stating he will bear all financial burden and that he has been responsible for my education.signed and stamped in his company seal. -His company bank statement with closing balance of 91 million naira, infliw and outflow of 350 milloin naira. -Company's letter of incorporation - company has been running since 1985. First sorry for the delay, I will advise you reapply again cos if you can repackage well you will get it approved this time. Pls help me answer these few questions: 1.How much is your tuition fee? 2. How much did your uncle pledge to commit for your studies and upkeep? 3. Is your uncle the sole signatory to the company's account? Before you answer I think if your uncle can pay your tuition fee and your upkeep (atleast CAD10,000) into your personal bank account then you will be fine on the side of funds. Atleast with this you will have something in your account to show. NB: No matter how much our sponsors are pledging for our studies as long as we are around the age of 20yrs above I THINK it will be WISE to also include our own statement of account no matter how small the cash in it is(it will help tackle personal asset). |

Because initially, that was the plan until I got an advice about not using someone who doesn't have the same surname with me as a co sponsor as that might raise a flag. The other person who wanted to co sponsor me is my mother's brother who clearly does not have the same surname with me. Your uncle or anyone can sponsor you, all they need do is pay your tuition fee or pay the money into ur account |

ceceliaa34: Hi, thanks for your reply.
Actually it's not really about the 7m or how much he's committing, He's committing himself alright... I just paid over 7k CAD. That's about as far as commitment goes at this stage. My upkeep obviously won't be from the said 7m balance but from subsequent inflows to the account in the not too distant future. It's just an estimate of what would be on the account by ending. Could be higher. Since it's a business account, transactions are processed on it at least 3 times a week. Closing amount as at 2 months ago was nearing 13m, then we bought goods to restock the store, money left the account(outflow), came back after sales (inflow) You get my drift?
That was why I put a caveat earlier that the inflow and outflow for the last 6 months is quite strong.
So it's not about the closing balance as at the time I print the SOA. I get your drift but my case here is that your dad needs to tell the vo in his own letter of support how much he will commit for your living expenses (idott has to be spelled out) and the vo expect you to have the money before you travel (that's why most people are asked to get an assurance letter from the bank to state the funds will be transported to Canada when it's time). If your dad is the sole signatory to his company let him wait till when the account has around that "13 million" or more that you talked about then he can now pledge to give you around 5 million naira for your living expenses (though the minimum is CAD10K=#3million), whatever he will be pledging for your upkeep for the year shouldn't be less than the 3 million naira (even if he won't give u all the money now cos I know most people will be sending the upkeep money on a monthly basis but NEVER tell the vo that). You still have time so I will advise you wait when the account balance increases a bit before you apply but if you can't wait then make sure your dad is specific about the amount he wants to commit for your upkeep. NB: He should also make reference to his PFA as that will help. Trust me the closing balance is very important, infact more important than the inflow and outflow (as long as there is proof of how the money was made.....like comany registration). |

ceceliaa34: Hi guys.
Finally paid my first semester tuition via Form A at Access Bank. Very fast I must say. Less than a week.
I'm planning to apply for Visa first week of September for Winter Session. My dad is my sponsor and we are planning on using his business account. However, sales has been kind of slow this year and we could maybe do about 7 million Naira as closing balance for SOA. I'm especially worried cos I'm going for PGD at Lambton so I want to submit a well-covered airtight application.
He does have a Pension Account of over 30million and he hasn't withdrawn even a kobo. The funds are still with the PFA and he doesn't want to withdraw now for reasons best known to him. Can we include his pension account as a supporting financial document? Is it advisable?
I should probably add that the inflow and outflow of the business account is quite strong... Yes u can use his pension account documents. inflow and outflow isn't as important as the closing balance. out of the 7 million how much is your dad committing to your studies? thank God you have paid your tuition so what he will need to provide will be your living expenses which is atleast CAD10K |
