awys:@Tre20 That's why it is high, but even at that it is too expensive. The thing is, the station in Benin will collect your finger prints and send it to Alagbon, Lagos for the report. As it is now you can bargain with them or if you have time and feel like visiting Lagos you can go to Alagbon yourself to get it done. It won't take more than 15 minutes to get it done( 3-5k). N.B: Police report is actually free, but we know how bad the system is in naija. Another thing is this, you can decide to apply without the report (if you think you can't afford the 40k and can go to Lagos to get it done yourself). |

Tre20:Runaway o. Will the police officer follow you to Canada? If you are in Lagos you can get as between3k (if you bargain well) and 5k in Alagbon (that's the best place to get it). 1 Like |

oyibo4real:If you have made tuition deposit and intend to switch school after getting your TRV, I doubt you will get a refund of the 8k paid. So please think about your moves before making them. Most schools can only refund your tuition or part of it when your visa application is rejected(you have to show them proof), so get to know your school's refund policy before taking your next step. Good luck 1 Like |

blackyshadow:If you are sponsoring yourself then you have to provide fund for the two years, but if you have a sponsor then he/she can show fund for one year and show proof he will be able to sustain the sponsorship beyond the first year(this can be done by showing account of enough money to pay the 2nd year or show any other means he intended to use in funding you) |

godguy:No it won't, it becomes lump sum when the you and the sponsor refuses to explain the transaction. All you and your sponsor need to do is explain it in your SOP and letter of support respectively that the said amount was transferred to your account as your tuition fee and living expenses (to show commitment from your sponsor). |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by mcobex: 7:16pm On Jan 06, 2021 |
blackyshadow: 1. Yes anyone can sponsor you as long as they give genuine reason(s) why they are doing it. 2. The best way to convince the vo is for the sponsor to pay your tuition fee or transfer the entire fund(tuition and living expenses) into your personal bank account. NB: The above is mainly if the sponsor is a 3rd party(not your parents or siblings). 2 Likes 1 Share |

Asusino:My view: It simply means, if you apply for admission and got accepted (which is almost sure cos you have a supervisor that will plead your case on the admission board), you are guaranteed 16k(for tuition and living expenses). There's a high possibility of getting more funding from the other sources (later on).....check the school funding page to know which you can apply for. Try to apply ASAP. CONGRATULATIONS N.B: The guaranteed 16k will not be sufficient for your tuition and living expenses, so you need to source for other funds(self or scholarship). From my calculations you need additional 10k 1 Like |

MerryCoke:The information you gave is fund related, so if at the time of applying you have enough funds to cover your tuition and living expenses for the entire duration of your program then you are good to go. But if you are using a sponsor then he/she will have to show funds for at least the first year of your studies, while showing proof of how he/she intends to continue paying your fees(for subsequent years). I also want you to know approval goes beyond just having funds, some other aspects needs to be as solid(purpose of visit, home-tie,....etc). |

Ckechi:As long as the account belongs solely to your sponsor then you have nothing to worry about. The issue is not just about the money, but how accessible it is to you(the applicant) |

Chimzy4real:They are asking how you intend to fund your studies/the source. If you are sponsoring yourself state it(with how you were able to save up if possible). if it is your family that is sponsoring you state it also with proof. From the program page you should know or have an idea of how much it will cost to fund your program (tuition and living expenses), state the estimated amount as well. Good luck 1 Like 1 Share |

hairbyuj:Let him apply alone first while he uses you and the kids as his home-tie, once he gets his TRV he can apply for you guys to join him. Yes there are schools that don't request for IELTS score from Nigerians. Let him search for schools offering his intended course and see their application requirements. Good luck |

AbionaT:I don't have time now to go through SOP, but you can draft one first then ask people to go through it and see where you need to add or remove something. For your intended program, do you intend to start your own company/business relating to the course after graduation? If yes, it will be a great reason for the change is career. |

Chocs:@AbionaT please, like @chocs said, DO NOT HIDE YOUR MSc. You can either go for express entry (since you have masters and working experience). But if you must go the study route, then you can go for PhD or another masters. As for you having an admission for a diploma course, hope it is advanced diploma (in science, which is different from your current field)? If yes, then you need to explain to the go why you want to change career(mind you, you have every right to change career but you MUST convince the vo why you intend doing that at this stage of your life). N.B: I want to re-emphasis this: DO NOT HIDE YOUR MASTERS DEGREE, PLEASE!!! It is better you let them know then explain you want to change career, maybe due to wanting a new challenge or something that holds water. 1 Like |

Rootiab:Showing fund isn't the main goal, the main goal is to show funds and give evidence the funds will be readily available for your studies. If you are borrowing the money just to print statement of account then it won't fly, but if you borrow the money to pay your tuition fee then good. All you need do is explain the source and show evidence of it as well 1 Like |

Rootiab:Your questions are not too clear, I guess that's why no one has responded. 1. Is the company providing you the said papers only or they really want to sponsor you? 2. If the money didn't come from your parents, where is it coming from? You have to be specific if you want the right answers/suggestions. |

lentomac:like @awys said, you have to think about the step before taking it. From what you just said, I think you can explain to the immigration officer you want to know the city more and also intend to run a course that will give you an edge before school resumes (you have to show proof of it as well). Mind you, all these means more money to be spent, so you need to make proof of fund available just in case they ask you. Also, your family friend can write a letter stating he will cover all your expenses within that 3 months and the said course will be online. |
