The word "legend" has been misconstrued and wrongly redefined by this generation. Who da f**k made that staement? Do you know who a legend is or what it means? I ask again, Do you? ![]() |
@OP, Nice write up. Just to briefly add that; diseases are "contract" and not "contact". So change the title to; Why is .......easily "contracted" instead of "contacted". |

Chill bro, Its so normal. I felt same way too when i got my current role in an international organisation. I did well at the interview and secured the job amongst 18 candidates. In my case, I would say i got so struck by the repute of the organisation and at the initial stage kept imagining "small me" working for such a global organisation. Truth is, I just applied and never thought i would be invited for an interview talk more of securing the job. Little wonder after the documentation and all, reality doned on me and it felt like i was dreaming and this resulted in some fears of the unknown hunting me. Despite the initial deep fears of whether i could meet up with the demands (as 30% of colleagues are foreign nationals), however, in my heart of hearts i knew they had hired the best brain and the most needed hands as they saw all that in me at the interview stage and was why i was hired. I wont deny that i made a few mistakes at the start (but did not dwell on them). And trust such org to put you through in other to bring out the best in you. Long cut short, with God, one year into the job, my confidence level is so grown that i am even entrusted with more responsibilities than are on my JD and God has been helping me to deliver. So relax bro, its normal but dont dwell there for too long. Believe in your abilities and talk to God. |

Hello friends, I am asking because compared to the prices of cars quoted here on NL, I discovered that same cars on jiji.com seem cheaper and on good conditions. I asked a work-place colleague, and he said cars displayed on jiji are displayed by fraudstars who are on-the-wait to defraud unsuspecting potential buyers. Autu gurus in the house, pls help clarify my fears; How Genuine Are Cars Displayed On Jiji.com. Please, i plan on getting a car from jiji soon since they seem cheaper but for my fears. |

Abujabir24:How could this have crossed your thought line bros. The Red Cross is only but a neutral and an impartial entity whose mandate as given by the signatories to the GVA conventions of 1949 (which includes all countries of the world) is to protect and assist (not with arms or funds) victims of armed conflicts and other instances of voilence regardless of the roles they play(ed) in the conflict. The red cross does not take side nor assist the none state armed groups please. Those who know, know and those who dont know, should please take note. |
The International Committee of the Red Cross has observed a three-day mourning for its two female workers, Saifura Khorsa and Hauwa Liman, who were executed by the Boko Haram insurgents loyal to the Islamic State of West African Province in September and October respectively. The ICRC told our correspondent on Friday that it had no plans, whatsoever, to suspend its operations in the North-East, noting that its offices were shut for only three days to mourn with the families of its deceased workers. The ICRC spokesperson, Mr. Vincent Pouget, stated this in an interview with our correspondent. Pouget said, “To suspect that we may halt our operations is not correct. We had our mourning period on Wednesday in all our offices in the Lake Chad region. “We started a three-day break of our programmes just to mourn Saifura and Hauwa. There is no connection between this and stopping operations. It is too soon to talk about that. We are now focused on the families of Saifura and Hauwa. “We have seen such reports that ICRC is pulling out from the North-East; that is not correct. It is too soon to determine the consequences it will have on our operations. But to mention this statement, it is misunderstood in the media.” https://punchng.com/staff-execution-red-cross-neast-operations-to-continue/ |

I came in full-touch with President Buhari’s vacuity in October 2014, in the heat of the battle for APC presidential ticket. I had gone to his house in Abuja with my boss to interview him. When he emerged from the closed curtains, I saw a warm and charming man. He was a bit shy. I was taken in by his easy and gentle mien. But that was it. Of all Nigeria’s presidents, Buhari is the one with a diminutive intellectual stature. His severe intellectual malnourishment is not even a subject of debate; most of his supporters admit that he is not smart. But they taper their admittance with a claim that he makes up for what he lacks in intelligence in having integrity. It is because of his obvious intellectual disadvantage that his handlers have stopped the routine presidential media chat, and even advise him against attending debates. The interview was not so charming. In fact, it was lifeless, unanimated, and disappointing. Besides me not being able to decipher his deeply accented words, his answers to questions were like a penalty kick shot over a goalpost. I remember, he was asked why he was opposed to the national confab convened by President Jonathan, and he only mumbled hysterically about the composition of the conference. But when asked if he had read the recommendations of the confab and what he would like amended, he said “No?” And then there was a brief silence in the room. Gbagam! I also remember he was asked about how he would fix the challenge of power, but instead of responding to the question, he regaled us with heroics of the 1980s. And on how he stopped the maitatsine crisis of the 1980s, President Buhari said he only gave orders, entered Kano; the riots stopped and the leader of the insurrection was captured. How that happened he could not explain. Other questions on economy and politics were asked, but the president performed poorly, divagating and time-travelling. I knew instantly, that he lacked that stuff. He was so enamoured with past glories that I feared he was still stuck in the 1980s, and needed a “software update”. Despite the disappointing interview, I took a liking to him. He is a likable person no doubt. But after experiencing two years of debilitating governance under him, it dawned on me that sentiments do not make a good leader. One must be very objective in choosing a leader – ethnic, religious and personal considerations are immaterial because they are not conditions for good leadership. I could have a president from the south-east, but the roads to my region would still be death-traps. Nigeria has a rich blend of leaders, who can stir it to success – I see Oby Ezekwesili, Donald Duke and Kingsley Moghalu.
