going by your thoughts,if they should be tried and thrown into jail, then they are guilty already. So there is no need for them to appear in court. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? I understand as a Nigerian, you need a little "action" to aat least show that your god buhari is "working". But you need to be critical in your reasoning. Nigeria is not a mob state where jungle justice reigns supreme.try to be less emotional.
Politics › Re: How To US Government Fights Corruption by meccuno: 8:13pm On Oct 10, 2016

Clean2016:
Got this from a friend
I got this from a brother in the USA

ON THE JUDGES THAT WERE RECENTLY PICKED UP BY THE DSS.

I have lived in the USA for the last 20 years. There are some agencies in the USA that you never mess with - we fear them - and in order of importance, reach and power, they include:
1. The Internal Revenue Service
2. Department of Homeland Security
3. Federal Bureau of Investigation
4. The Drug Enforcement Agency
5. Anti Terrorist Force (ATF).

These are just a few. These agencies go after Businessmen, Judges Senators and Congressmen alike.

Under President Obama's tenure the following were picked up :

1. Scott Bloch (R) United States Special Counsel. pleaded guilty to criminal contempt of Congress for "willfully and unlawfully withholding pertinent information from a House Committee investigating his decision to have several government computers wiped ....". On June 24, 2013, U. S. District Judge Robert L. Wilkins sentenced Bloch to one day in jail and two years' probation, and also ordered him to pay a $5000 fine and perform 200 hours of community service.

2. David Safavian (R) Administrator for the Office of Management and Budget where he set purchasing policy for the entire government. He was found guilty of blocking justice and lying, and sentenced to 18 months.

3. Lewis "Scott" Libby (R) Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney (R). 'Scooter' was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice in the Plame Affair on March 6, 2007 and was sentenced to 30 months in prison and fined $250,000. His sentence was commuted by George W. Bush (R) on July 1, 2007.

4. Lester Crawford (R) Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, resigned after 2 months. Pleaded guilty to conflict of interest and received 3 years suspended sentence and fined $90,000.

5. Claude Allen (R) Director of the Domestic Policy Council, was arrested for a series of felony thefts in retail stores. (2006) He was convicted on one count and resigned soon after.

In the Legislative branch:

6. William J. Jefferson (D-LA) was charged in August 2005 after the FBI seized $90,000 in cash from his home freezer. He was re-elected to the House in 2006, but lost in 2008. He was convicted November 13, 2009, of 11 counts of bribery and sentenced to 13 years in prison. Jefferson's Chief of Staff Brett Pfeffer, was sentenced to 84 months for bribery.

7. Jack Abramoff CNMI scandal involves the efforts of Abramoff to influence Congressional action concerning U.S. immigration and minimum wage laws. See Executive branch convictions. Congressmen convicted in the Abramoff scandal include:
8. Bob Ney (R-OH) pleaded guilty to conspiracy and making false statements as a result of his receiving trips from Abramoff in exchange for legislative favors. Ney received 30 months in prison.

9. Duke Cunningham (R-CA) pleaded guilty November 28, 2005, to charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud and tax evasion in what came to be called the Cunningham scandal and was sentenced to over eight years in prison.

10. Frank Ballance (D-NC) admitted to federal charges of money laundering and mail fraud in October 2005 and was sentenced to four years in prison.

11. Bill Janklow (R-SD) was convicted of second-degree manslaughter for running a stop sign and killing a motorcyclist. Resigned from the House and given 100 days in the county jail and three years probation.

12. Jim Traficant (D-OH) was found guilty on ten felony counts of financial corruption, sentenced to eight years in prison and expelled from the House of Representatives.

Most of them were picked up at night, and in their pajamas!

In the case of the Judges picked up by the DSS, don't forget that they were reported to the NJC by their own colleagues - i.e. fellow judges. For those condemning the DSS , what is it that you are complaining about? Is it method of arrests or is it because that the Judges were arrested? Neither is there a Nigerian law that says an arrest has to happen in daylight. Those Judges are accused of perverting justice at different Electoral Tribunals by their own colleagues - so we should allow a corrupt Judge's decision truncate the aspirations of genuine voters? When are we going to start building national institutions that are bigger than single individuals? Have you all forgotten what happened to Justice Salami of the Federal Court of Appeals?

C'mon Nigerians, we either want to work toward a country that works for all or we don't!!
[/s] you come here to quote other advanced countries because it favours Your cause. Why did you not tell us that the same US practices fiscal federalism. And why are we not practicing it yet? Stop deceiving your self.

yes oh! Nigeria isn't in shortage of people who got money not proportional to their salaries when in govt. Tinubu, abacha, babangida, obasanjo, fashola, amaechi, abdusalami etc. If actually buhari wants to fight corruption, these people would be very easy targets.
Politics › Re: North Moved Against Jonathan Because Of Oil Blocs – Ofeimun by meccuno: 3:18pm On Oct 10, 2016
seunmsg:
I respect Odia Ofeimun but all what he said in this piece is nonsense and very disappointing. Nigerians voted out Jonathan because of his poor performance in office and nothing else. Linking his electoral loss to crude oil politics is absolute nonsense. How many oil well has Buhari allocated since he became president? Silly talk like this will only continue to divide the country at a time when all parts need to unite and demand for good governance.

And to the issue of restructuring, it is very funny that he tried to suggest that Yoruba's have abandoned the clamour after moving to the federal mainstream with APC. Just last week, Yakassai accused Yoruba's of pushing for restructuring out of jealousy and Ibos quickly supported him. No southern leader rebuked him or even try to correct that silly accusation. In fact, IPOBS gloated over that thread without remorse. Now, Ofeimum is raising the issue again.

Even though I am still unconvinced about how restructuring will make us a better and more united nation, I think southerners must learn to take a position on the matter and stick to it. Restructuring can only be achieved through a united southern voice. Yorubas alone cannot champion the cause. SE and SS must also admit that they want Nigeria restructured and the call is not out of any jealousy.
I doubt if you can actually reason higher than this. Its either you are short sighted and do not see the big picture,or you are suffering from autism. Things happening in Nigeria is not 1+1=2. Most times its usually equals to zero. Pls think outside the box

Old Fool should STFU!. The north had the full support of the british without which the north were no match for the SW. The british govt. gave financial, material, logistics,&otherwise, british media machinery was deployed while elections were massively rigged in the favour of the north, all borne out of the fear of that Awo who was a strong voice against her(british) imperialism& northern feudalism, would stop at nothing in cutting off her firm grip on Nigeria. Awo had vowed never to work with the british imperialist & never to see the north rule NIG. But in all his account, Yakassai never give credence to Zik's NCNC. He mentioned NPC several times with no particular regard for NCNC whose alliance provided its majority. Zik was the true defination of a used& dumbed hollow ish flat headed jerk who refused Awo's Call for a southern alliance. Zik's action subjected the larger igbos to slavishness as at today. Tanko acknowledged the SW as the 1st among the ethnic groups & that's the truth!

Read the trash you wrote kid. You have no business being in a place when you feel you're being limited rather than stay put earning fat salary while you're doing nothing. No one but yourself can prevent you from excelling. Failures always find excuses while they fail. they heap the blame on everyone but themselves.

My friend, bury your head in shame and accept the fact that your local champion ineffectual buffoon failed woefully. It is a shame really that Nigeria had so much coming in as revenue and your NOI with her fellow co-looters wacked everything in the cookie jar. It's pathetic that a person of her pedigree couldn't supervise an oil boom.

The governors were right to demand for their share when they knew that if they hadn't demanded for it, it would have found its way as usual into the hands of Alibaba and the forty thieves.

What happened to the FG's share (51 percent)? Where did it go to? Of course you know where.

P. S:
FYI: NOI did zilch. With that oil price(110 dollars to a barrel), Nigeria economy was on auto pilot. Everything fell in place!
It took a plummeting oil price to expose the carelessness and ineptitude of your local champion.
you said she didn't save, but when reminded that fashola and amaechi didn't allow that, you devised another crooked way of escaping what is apparently the truth staring you in your face. Solomon prayed for wisdom. God gave him. Its not anybody's fault that you can't pray.....
Politics › Re: Buhari Favoured South-East More Than North - Buba Galadima by meccuno: 3:17pm On Sep 25, 2016
seunmsg:
Please, let's understand each other clearly. I am not against the call for restructuring. I have listened to different people make the call and they all have varying opinions on the exact structure that we should transit to. What I want to see is a coordinated view on restructuring. Not the present call that is been pushed by various tribal/political interest. Should we restructure to regionalism or should we maintain the current 36 states structure? Should we adopt the 50 states recommendation of Jonathan's confab? Should we devolve more powers to the current state structure and reduce the power of the federal government? These and many more are the issues that I want the proponents of restructuring to clearly define instead of each person pushing different versions.

Again, people like me are sceptical of the interest of the proponents of restructuring because they often limit their argument to resource control. Which resources do they want to control? The resources deposited by God under the land and in the deep water? Did the resources get there by the hard work of any tribe or just by God's magnanimity? You can decide to be emotional about this but I will be pragmatic. Natural resources should be put to the benefit of all citizens of the country and not to a particular state or region. What is the productivity of these oil states apart from oil? Akwa Ibom collects the highest revenue among the states, what is her productivity apart from oil? Nothing! Why should Osun or Gombe be forced to be productive and Akwa Ibom is excused? We should encourage general productivity and not excuse others. What the proponents of resource control want is an unequal union where a region will be stupendously rich while the others are in abject poverty. That is unfair if you ask me.
an average yÓruba man wouldn't make comments like these. It is obvious you are a northerner. Stop using the opportunity to cause problems here for the SW people.

The igbos made it clear you hate and reject buhari by voting against him. What sort of appointments are you guys expecting again from a man you rejected? Even we the south west that gave him so much support got 18 appointments while igbos got 12 despite voting against him yet they still complain of marginalization. The GEJ you all supported could not build you a complete road in the east and second Niger Bridge he decieved you igbos with will be built by Buhari. Like buhari said during the presidential media chat, "WHAT DO THE IGBO'S WANT "? Do you guys want him to vacate the office and install the obi of Onitsha as president? The useless Nnamdi kanu who was bribed by the PDP to brainwash igbo youths brought about series of lies and confusion on his evil radio before been locked up. After getting 12 appointments igbos are still looking for biafra. Is this not selfishness? Biafra will never come. We will not allow any useless referendum sad
how you reason amazes me. You champion one Nigeria but still show your high level of tribalism. So because they didn't vote for him, then he should not perform his duty as the president of Nigeria and cater for all citizens of this country? When they complain you start talking rubbish about why they are better of in Nigeria but you fail to even recognise that they have been excluded from any development. I don't blame you, I blame the man who created a country called Nigeria when it was very obvious we were never meant to be a Nation.

Let's be realistic, anybody can die for Nigeria without even knowing it.
In most cases, you wouldn't have in mind that you will die, if you are the optimistic type.

Assuming there's a full-scale war with a neighboring country, let's say Cameroon. And your community was attacked by the enemy troop and many people were killed, including your close relatives.
And maybe, you managed to survive that attack.
If you are grown enough, No be to join NA remain? As to make sure that your community and loved ones will not be further attacked.
What if you die (God forbid o) on the process of defending that your community, haven't you died for your country

are we waiting when a Gunman will attack us and ask your life or Nigeria?..

My final point is that, there are many ways to die for Nigeria without even knowing it.
