Politics › Re: See Why We Want Change And Not Rule Of Law by meccuno: 2:51pm On Jan 27, 2016 |
[s] samento: What is rule of law? The "Rule of Law" that totally disappeared during GEJ administration suddenly appears to disrupt the necessary Change Nigeria badly needs to bring back the lost glory
"Don't Fear the Change, Fear the Future- President Barack Obama. #SOTU2016 . Nigerians did not vote for PMB for him to become a democrat. . Nigerians did not vote for PMB for him to keep quiet while Nigeria fall apart. Nigerian's voted PMB for him to rescue Nigeria. Nigerian's were witnesses to the corruption and rot in government for the decade leading up to the 'Change' movement. Nigerian's were witnesses to the needless and unacceptable loss of life and insecurity that corruption brought. Nigerian's wants and demand a better social, economic, financial life. That is why they voted for PMB. PMB should be wary about these attempts to squeeze the 'democrat' out of him. It is all strategy to cripple progress. Thieves and corrupt politicians buy judges with stolen cash today in Nigeria. PMB should move decisively against corrupt people irrespective of what corrupt judges say or do in their courts. If it is true that Dasuki stole and/or distributed $2.1Billion security funds, definitely Dasuki has committed a treasonable offence against the nation, and no responsible court should EVER grant him bail. PMB must work to prevent corrupt people from acting as compromised instruments for frustrating our collective desire for justice and restitution. In Egypt, the courts did not grant a visibly sick ex-president Mubarak any bail, rather he was wheeled into court on his sick bed. That sent a message that your crimes will catch up with you no matter your status or health condition. Let Dasuki and every other bloated suspect endure the healthcare system that their greed created. No more foreign medical tours for crime suspects. PMB must stand his ground against these 419-Judges, “Enough Is Enough”. Millions of Nigerians are doing a rethink about the Buhari's government. We do not like this seductive but ineffective 'democrat' garb. By now, FANI Kayode should be calling his teenage wife for his high value meals from a DSS cell (as he nurses the consequences of the reckless and irresponsible statements that threatened the unity and peace of the Nation) AYO FAYOSE, the foul loudmouth, should be well out of office, in some remote village, nursing his vulgarity and emptiness. By now, half of our stolen-funds, should have been redeemed from this thieves. After decades of being robbed and rendered victims of a nation in 'arrested development', few Nigerians give a damn about how our stolen funds is recovered. We just want our money back. By now, the rascals that destroyed PDP should have been shown the way out of Nigerian politics and a new breed of responsible politicians allowed to form the new PDP. Certainly, none of these thieves should have the audacity, so rampantly displayed, to penetrate an APC that should be growth focussed. PMB, your fellow Nigerians know that you can CHANGE things for the better in Nigeria today if you really put your mind to it. RULE OF LAW IN NIGERIA: Suddenly, they know the principle of Rule of Law. Where were these constitutional and human rights lawyers when - (1) Fayose entered courtroom and beat up a judge, these guys didn’t remember Aristotle or A.V Dicey essays on Rule of Law. No, there was no Rule of Law. (2) When Obanikoro threatened a military General, rigged an election (all caught on tape), and was compensated with ministerial post, these guys didn't remember Rule of Law. (3) When a sitting Governor and Speaker of House of Representatives plane was grounded on "Orders from above", wailers didn't remember any book called Law. (4) When Amaechi was prevented from entering Government House Port Harcourt as a sitting Governor by a weak Police CP Mbu, they didn't remember Rule of Law existed. (5) When Tambuwal was denied access into the National Assembly and his security details detached from him, Rule of law wailers never existed, (6). When 5 out of 32 Rivers law makers sat and "impeached" the Speaker, these "Rule of Law" guys were nowhere to be found. However, now that President Buhari is after the thieves who bled Nigeria dry and the wicked Dasuki gang that were so heartless as to make our soldiers go to war with no weapons and ended up being slaughtered by Boko Haram, these so-called lawyers and activist are now shamelessly irritating PMB by labelling him undemocratic. PMB stance on the Kanu issue is best understood from the security perspective. These irresponsible lawyers and human rights activists are talking from both sides of their mouth. Nigerians DO NOT need to be lectured about Rule of Law. My simple advice to these confused lawyers and human rights activist is for them to take that lecture to USA/Britain/France. Where were you guys when they invaded Iraq against UN laws, Libya and the latest Syria? How about Guantanamo Bay where people are detained without trial? We want our money back, and President Buhari has our support to use whatever means necessary to get our money back! How he does it again is immaterial, Under this new PMB government, “YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR EXCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS”. Are we quick to forget on February 19 2011 when Olisa Metuh beat up a 67 year old Vice Principal for confiscating his son's phone in school: The Vice-Principal of British Nigerian Academy, Prince & Princess Estate, Abuja, Mr. Kola Pele, 67, has taught in numerous schools and nurtured many pupils. He was going about his duty on a BNA visiting day when the National Vice-Chairman (South-East), Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Olisa Metuh, invaded the school with his wife, policemen as well as aides and allegedly assaulted him and other teachers for confiscating his son’s GSM phone. Metuh, a lawyer turned politician, allegedly held Pele by the throat and reportedly ordered an aide to put him in his car boot, saying “No police IG or SSS can secure his release.” - culled from Punch Now this same Metuh is reported to have torn and tried to swallow his own written confession while in EFCC custody (a crime of destroying government property) and some are asking he be realesed because of "rule of law". Did he grant the teacher "rule of law"? When are we going to stop this Hypocrisy? The government should just ignore the noisemakers, lock who you need to lock and deal with who you need to deal with. They don't play by the rules either, METUH IS A LAWYER at least he should know better. If the law must assist you must have assisted the law. Mr President we don't want rule of law now, please recover our money. [/s] Trash!! |
Politics › Re: Clueless Nigeria, By Femi Aribisala by meccuno: 1:07pm On Jan 27, 2016 |
sidneyj: How to Be a Clueless President, By Femi Aribisala In six years of Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency, the opposition told us again and again the man was “clueless.” It made sure the tag stuck to him like glue. But now we have a new sheriff in town, with the APC claiming to be better at everything than the PDP. While that might still be subject to debate, there is overwhelming evidence that in the cluelessness department, the PDP is certainly no match for the APC. Here is a compendium from the APC textbook of cluelessness, provided within barely one year in office. If you want to know how to be a clueless president, this is the APC blueprint. Blame Game Instead of giving Nigerians the change you championed, give them excuses. Blame Goodluck Jonathan for everything, including the harmattan. Whenever you make a blunder, pass the buck to the former president. If there is petrol shortage, blame it on Goodluck Jonathan. If the budget is dead on arrival, blame it on Goodluck Jonathan. In the middle of an economic crisis, promise to provide Nigerians with free education; free meals daily for millions of Nigerian public school-children; free tertiary education; free health-care and free houses. Facing a drastic drop in Nigeria’s income, declare you will be giving grants of $1.5 billion a year to Nigeria’s poor. When you fail to deliver on any on these highfalutin promises, blame it quickly on Goodluck Jonathan. Blunders Forget the name of you vice-presidential running-mate. Call him Yemi Osunbade instead of Yemi Osinbajo. Tell President Obama the name of your political party is the All Nigeria’s Peoples’ Congress when it is All Progressives Congress. Call your party on CNN the All Progressives Confidence. Tell Al Jazeera INEC means Independent Nigerian Electoral Commission instead of Independent National Electoral Commission. Even though West Germany ceased to exist in 1999 and the current German president is Joachim Gauck, refer to German Chancellor, Angela Merkel as “President Michelle of West Germany.” Destroy INEC by turning it into a National Commission for Inconclusive Elections. Go to the United Nations and give rousing speech about fighting Boko Haram, then fail to attend the crucial meeting on Boko Haram at the same U.N. session. Tell the Americans the Chibok girls were abducted from their “hotels” instead of their “hostels.” Tell Nigerians there is nothing like petroleum subsidy. Then as president, announce the removal of the non-existent petroleum subsidy. Claim Jonathan diverted $700 million from the $1.1 billion Chinese loan for the Lagos/Kano rail project when only $400 million was earmarked for Lagos/Kano rail. Announce that foreign exchange can now be paid into domiciliary accounts without specifying if depositors will be allowed to withdraw them. Anti-corruption rigmarole Declare that you will kill corruption in Nigeria while being surrounded and bankrolled by corrupt politicians. Then invite those with corruption allegations hanging over their heads into your cabinet. Maintain: “Jonathan’s ministers stole 150 billion dollars.” But fail to prosecute them for stealing $150 billion. Tell Nigerians $2.5 billion was stolen by the PDP through Dasukigate, but charge people to court for stealing no more than $100 million. Believe that trying members of the PDP for corruption on the pages of newspapers amounts to waging a serious war on corruption and is a substitute for national economic policy. Say: “We cannot build an economy where corruption is the working capital.” Then declare to no effect that recovered stolen monies will be used to revamp the national economy. Insist Abacha never stole any money, and then probe the PDP for the mismanagement of the non-existent Abacha loot recovered from abroad. Fail to recognise that with the official exchange-rate at N198 to $1, while the parallel market rate is $305 to $1, you have created the widest parallel market margin ever recorded in Nigeria’s history of Nigeria and laid the foundation for widespread corruption in the banks. Accuse the opposition of using public funds to finance its election campaign, but fail to disclose where you got the money to finance your own very expensive election campaign. Claim to be so cash-strapped, you had to borrow N27.5 million to pay for the presidential nomination papers of your party; then state in your assets declaration that you have N30 million in your bank account. Commend INEC for running the ostensibly free and fair election that brought you to power; then challenge in court every election conducted by the same INEC that your party lost. Contradictions Claim you inherited an empty treasury in spite of the over $30 billion left in our foreign reserves. Say you met no money in the treasury, then spend N2.2 billion on a four-day junket to the U.S. with no agenda and with nothing achieved. Say: the federal government of Nigeria is: “the biggest Boko Haram.” Then become the head of the federal government of Nigeria. Declare grandiloquently: “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody.” Then say: “The constituents (that) gave me 97 percent cannot in all honesty be treated on some issues with constituencies that gave me 5 percent.” Say you belong to everybody but ensure that your personal aides are virtually all Northerners. Say: “I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone.” “There will be no paying off old scores. The past is prologue.” Then send EFCC dogs after Elder Godsday Erubebe. Say: “I pledge myself and the government to the rule of law, in which none shall be so above the law that they are not subject to its dictates, and none shall be so below it that they are not availed of its protection.” Then seek to replace the rule of law with the rule of fear. Go on national television and tell Nigerians you will not be obeying the courts in the cases of Dasuki and Kanu. Interfere in the judicial process by publicly declaring your enemies guilty without trial. Tell Christiane Amanpour on CNN that you will defeat Boko Haram within two months if elected. Then say you did not say so. Declare that you will defeat Boko Haram by the end of December 2015, then say you only meant to defeat it “technically” after it unleashes mayhem on Maiduguri while you were busy celebrating its fictional defeat. Say: “Boko Haram is a typical example of small fires causing large fires. An eccentric and unorthodox preacher with a tiny following was given posthumous fame and following by his extra judicial murder at the hands of the police.” Then send troops to massacre hundreds of Shiites in Zaria. Involve Nigeria in a Middle Eastern regional struggle between Saudi Arabia and Iran by joining the Saudi led anti-terrorist coalition. Open the door for wider terrorist attacks on Nigeria by killing Shi’ites in the North while the Saudis execute Shi’ite mullahs and prisoners in Saudi Arabia. Prosecute avoidable wars on several home-fronts: against Boko Haramites in the North-East; Shi’ites in the North-West; Biafrans in the South-East; and Niger Deltans in the South-South. Nonsensical policies Grind the country to a halt by making yourself Sole Administrator of Nigeria for six months. Squander your vital first 100 days in office doing absolutely nothing; while receiving cheers as “Baba Go-Slow.” Present “body language” as a substitute for policy. Ensure that over N5 trillion is wiped off the Nigerian Stock Exchange within six months of your coming to office. Promise: “I will stabilise global oil price.” Then watch as the oil price tumbles from $50 to $28 within eight months of your presidency. Also ball-watch as the naira tumbles to a record-breaking N305 to one dollar. Declare when the country is broke: “I will provide one meal a day for children in public primary schools.” “I will make direct cash transfer of 5,000 naira to the 25 million poorest and most vulnerable citizens.” Propose through your Minister of Science Fiction to create 3.4 million jobs in Nigeria in 2016 through the production of pencils. Plan to have 365 cultural festivals 365 days a year under your Ministry of Culture. Shout “chanji, chanji” while a large chunk of your party-members are turncoats from the same PDP that ruled the country for the last 16 years. Refer to ministers as noisemakers then establish a Cabinet of ministers. Take six months to choose a cabinet then come out with old cargoes. Tell Nigerians you delayed appointing ministers because you were looking for saints and angels, then appoint many known devils. Say: “The corrupt will not be appointed into my administration.” Then appoint those with corruption allegations hanging over their heads. Delight in putting square pegs in round holes. Make Kayode Fayemi, who has a Ph.D. in War Studies, Minister for Solid Minerals instead of Minister of Foreign Affairs. Make Professor Anthony Anwukah, a professor of Education and a former vice-chancellor a Junior Minister to a journalist, Adamu Adamu, in the Ministry of Education. Make Solomon Dalong, a former Assistant Inspector of Prisons the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. Make Muhammadu Bello, who headed the National Hajj Commission for eight years, FCT Minister. Budgeting Propose a N6 trillion budget in 2016 for a nation that failed to meet revenue estimates of N4 trillion in 2015. Predicate this on borrowing N2.2 trillion, which requires N1.2 billion daily to service. Benchmark your budget on the price of oil being $38 in 2016, making it dead on arrival with the oil price falling to $28 within a fortnight of your budget presentation. Fail to anticipate that, once sanctions against Iran are lifted, the oil price will go further down as Iranian oil is added to the international oil glut. Allocate N40 billion to look for oil in the North-East in the middle of an oil glut when Nigeria needs to diversify from oil. Within the framework of a drastic cut in Nigeria’s income, raise the budget for Aso Rock from N6.6 billion in 2015 to N18 billion in 2016. Earmark N3.6 billion for the purchase of several BMW saloon cars! Budget N1.75 billion for feeding in Aso Rock in 2016 when Jonathan only budgeted N530 million in 2015. Allocate only N29 billion to the Ministry of Agriculture, while earmarking N39 billion for the Ministry of Information and Culture. Present the budget to the National Assembly without first scrutinising it. Present the budget with fanfare, then send someone to steal it from the National Assembly. Present the budget, then withdraw it after reading it. Remember this: when the budget fails, blame it on Goodluck Jonathan! www.femiaribisala.comHow to Be a Clueless President, By Femi Aribisala I don't know if I can call this a TKO or a KO? |

Politics › Re: An Open Letter To The Gullible Nigerian Youths by meccuno: 9:09am On Jan 22, 2016 |
[s] don4real18: I decided to stay clear of this country affairs even though it concerns every Nigerian But coming out once again to air my views (against what I originally planned) is due to the fact that we have been played and the youths are at the frontline. There have been different happenings in recent times, from Dasukigate (the master Atm) the Biafran agitators and the free fall of the naira against the very powerful dollar.
#TheBiafranAgitators These are made up of youths that have refused to learn from history These are youths that have refused to control their subliminal perception These are youths that enjoy being played or perhaps are purposefully ignorant due to sentiments and ethnic diversity Their agitations have brought about deaths of youths likely to have a bright future at the expense of someone else's greed (with a sugar coated mouth of freedom) Ojukwu died old and peacefully while the agitators for his dream died in their thousands Nnamdi Kanu resided in another country until now (presently under custody) while instigating violence in the minds of these youths that have put many to death which could have been avoided. Have these same youths asked themselves while the so called sponsors of their agitation refuse to come out and carry placards with them Why they have refused to share in the bullet wounds of their "people"? Is their life more precious than those agitating on the street? Until these youths answer these questions truthfully, they will likely remain in the bondage of ignorance and still remain in the frontline of these games.
#FallOfNaira Am I sad?... Yes Am I happy?.... Yes People have failed to understand the reason for these free fall and have heaped lots and lots of blame on the present administration without understanding the reason. The naira will depreciate more in the coming weeks and more people will point fingers. The Naira's true problem is our dependency on oil and the embrace of corruption. Even the rich and mighty Saudi Arabia is affected and had to remove subsidy recently to balance itself. The best solution for Nigeria is to look inward and explore other resources to generate resources. Empower youths to go into agriculture, woo companies to go into mining, focus on green housing and forget the conventional bricks and blocks, improve local manufacture into international standards and many more.
#DasukiGate A gate to success in a #corrupt way His involvement in the arms scandal deal has caused the deaths of many at the expense of his and his robots greed. Fathers have died, mothers have cried Graves of children and no one is tried He's presently in the custody of our security officials and so many people (likely the ones who haven't lost friends and family in the terrorist killings) are shouting rule of law. Isn't it our judicial system that sentences petty thieves for their crimes and makes looters free men These corrupt politicians can hire the best lawyers to prove they are innocent and walk free in a jiffy. So, what rule of law? Just because we are in a democratic system of government doesn't give you the right to steal from the government coffers. So many youths cry out that he's not the first to loot or the president should investigate his own party and one begins to wonder if they also benefited from Dasuki's generosity. I totally concur with the language of the president and the commendable work of the DSS and the EFCC whose hands were tied during the last administration. That anyone involved in this arms scandal that have destroyed many Nigerians and properties should be seriously dealt with to discourage future looters from engaging in this deeds

This thread can be informative at best. It isn't going to come up with a solution to the oil crisis. The prices will keep going down and the consequences will be far worse than many might imagine. There will be another global recession. Many countries in Europe and the mideast will go burst like Greece. The only thing that can give us a little succour if we act now is true federalism. The Nigerian structure as it is is flawed and can never produce a 21st century robust country the North will never accept the concept of true federalism. They would prefer to say that true federalism was destroyed by aguiyi ironsi and that's where it ends.........if we had true federalism in place, it would boost the economy and speed up development process......but some people do no want others to take their destinies in their hands |

I hope Nigerians are not really gullible or lazy to do some research. I think it's an economic war going on around the world for supremacy within nations. @ least we are on the same page.....it goes way beyond that......am very sure this has been in the offing for a very long time.....the US planned this and it is being targeted at some countries e.g for reasons best known to them.........am sure for a new version of colonialism...... |

[s] shachris02: I listened to Nigeria Info PH FM this evening and got irritated by the level of ignorance and foolery exhibited by some callers. The first thing you should know is that wike did not Ban protest by anyone. What he banned are ILLEGAL protests that never followed due procedures.
What constitutes an illegal protest? When the protest has not being acknowledge by designated authorities.
In simple terms, an illegal protest is one that does not have a police clearance.
Biafrans are quick to cite spain, the US and other western countries where citizens are free to protest. What they do not know, or are convincingly hiding is that fact that before any of those protests take place in those countries, the people involved must get a POLICE CLEARANCE.
Nobody is obstructing your freedom of expression, but you must do it within the confines of the rule of law.
You wouldn't because you are expressing yourself, cause me, a law abiding citizen of this Nation to be discomforted, because I as well have the same freedom of expression as you do have.
I have seen one too many of these so called peaceful protests in Aba. When they start, everything else grinds to a halt. Banks are closed, School closed, Traffic gridlock....No freedom of movement. Nothing.
I support WIKE totally and implore all SE governors to implement such. If you must protest, get a police Clearance.

bloodyBLOGGER: Nzeogwu should shut up!
He didn't have the interest of Nigerians at heart. He was only trying to depose the oligarchy then and install his own, which he failed in.
The problem with political losers is that they tend to request for the support of the people when they are embarking on their selfish interests. The moment they achieve it, they never remember them again I just pity for the silly people who allow themselves to be used and dumped by these class war participants.
The biafrans took the bate placed by Nzeogwu and his own Oligarchy build up which led them to losing 3million innocent souls in a senseless war that could have been avoided. The Ojukwu they died because of abandoned the project and still later came back to contest for the Nigerian Presidency. That shows you that these guys don't give a damn about the people hope you have checked your blood pressure........ |
Politics › Re: Milito-Democracy Is What Nigeria Needs In Order To Grow by meccuno: 7:35am On Jan 15, 2016 |
[s] spanishkid: First of all, I must commend the efforts of PMB for his fight against corruption. PMB has shown that he really the interest of this nation at heart. Even with all the distractions from the IPOB, Ohaneze Ndigbo, PDP, National Assembly, Olisa Metuh, OBJ Ezekwesili, FFK, Fayose and co he has still been able to stand his ground. It's never easy.
Secondly, I want to advice PMB to not listen to what anyone has to say on how to run the country. That was the mistake our son GEJ made when President and that gave some red cap wearing and two wrapper tying fools an opportunity to not only to hijack but destroy his government. They looted this country so dry that even a blind man could see it. Also, I commend PMB efforts in the fight against insurgency and corruption. He should ensure he spares no one including Tompolo. Nigeria must move forward and no one is bigger than the government. Also, should also realize that propaganda and blackmail is part of the job. I won't be surprised if PDP tries to blackmail him or use propaganda. After all, who doesn't know PDP to be a party of Criminals and terrorists.
Thirdly, PMB should ensure not to be lenient when dealing with Nigerians. Nigerians are very stubborn and unrepentant people and the only way he can deal with them is to rule with an iron fist. That is, using the system the military style but in a civilian outfit. Nigerians are the most difficult people to lead and as such they require iron hand. He should use the whip when necessary. PMB should also ensure capital punishment for some certain offence especially in the case of Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB followers and also corrupt politicians. [/s] you should be called italliankid.......the name suits you well considering the fact that your sisters are people who make us proud in italy....... |

[s] TonyeBarcanista: It is now common to see some so-called members and chieftains of PDP jumping into queue to support, shield and glorify alleged corrupt members of the party. It started with the Saraki scandal, when some PDP and APC senators abandoned their legislative assignment to accompany indicted Bukola Saraki(who is not a card carrying party member) to court in a show of "solidarity". As if that wasn't embarrassing enough, the #ArmsGate scandal and other probe saw an army of some party members and chieftains going to the press and social media to "condemn" the fight against corruption because their comrades are indicted. Most embarrassing is the fact that this set of people not just support the alleged crooks, they expect everyone to join the league of shame. When did PDP started supporting and shielding crooks?
Is It Not PDP Government That Created EFCC? When PDP took over power from the Military in 1999, President Obasanjo went on world tour. He observed that corruption perception of Nigeria was hindering foreign investors to come invest in Nigeria. Additionally, Nigeria was listed by the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) as one of the 23 non-cooperative countries in the effort to fight corruption and money laundry. As at the time, Nigeria had only the Police force(that was very corrupt) to deal with fraud and stealing. The PDP government of President Obasanjo sent an Executive bill to the National Assembly for the creation of a special agency to tackle economic crimes, fraud and money laundry. The EFCC was birthed in 2003, with then Assistant Police Commissioner, Nuhu Ribadu as Executive Chairman.
If PDP government created EFCC, is it unfair for members to answer their alleged economic crimes? Is EFCC the creation of APC?
PDP Has Traditional Silence on Indicted Officials Since creation, several PDP chieftains have been arrested and prosecuted for corruption without the party siding any of the indictees. Some of them are; Depreye Alamesigha, James Onanefe Ibori, Saminu Turaki, Lucky Igbenedion, Ayo Fayose(indicted but fled), Adolphus Wabara(ex-Senate President), Uzor Kalu, Fabian Osuji(a serving minister under Obasanjo), Joshua Dariye, Bode George, Gbenga Daniel, Dimeji Bankolea, Peter Odili, Obong Attah etc. The tradition of the party as an institution then was to allow indictees and their aides defend themselves. PDP as an institution did not involve in corruption matters involving these members and chieftains. Though some party members and chieftains as individuals were having one or two corrupt issues, non of them were "defended" by the party as an institution.
PDP Even Campaigned With Anti-Corruption in 2007 Let us also recall that in the 2007 election, PDP used "anti-corruption" slogan to campaign for its Presidential candidate Musa Yar'adua. They maintained the fact that Yar'adua was one of the most transparent politician in that era, and PDP is a party that fights corruption. In fact, one of the factors that worked against Atiku Abubakar when he flew AC flag was that "He was corrupt, and Yar'adua (and Buhari of ANPP) was incorruptible". As at then, there was an incorruptible and uncompromising patriots like exNAFDAC DG late Dora Akunyili, and Nuhu Ribadu's effort to add color to the campaign that brought Yar'adua to power.
When Did PDP As A Party Change? It is however shocking that some members and chieftains of the party of today will not only drag the party into personal corruption cases of chieftains, but has made it clear that a "loyal" party member must prove his/her loyalty by supporting indicted crooks and condemning anti-corruption crusade of Buhari. It is even debasing that some of these people see support for corrupt officials as "playing opposition". Is that opposition or nuisance?
When did PDP as an institution started taking such position? Does playing opposition equate to being shameless, constituting nuisance, and siding criminality? Will it not be appropriate for the party to set up investigating committee to assess the involvement or otherwise of its chieftains and implement discipline on those that are found wanting? Won't that help save its image and boost credibility?
Blackmail Tactics... While some people have tried so hard to discredit me, I have to state that I(TonyeBarcanista) will NOT succumb to any form of blackmail from any quarter to back corrupt ex-officials nor oppose the fight against corruption. Some accuse me of seeking favors from APC, but sane mind will deduce that it is more profiting(if one is seeking personal gain) to support corrupt officials than to support a government fighting corruption. Some say Barcanista is a "political prostitute without integrity", but sane mind will grasp that it is only people with integrity that will call for prosecution of alleged thief without fear or favor to any group or individual. What message will I send to the world if I support corrupt officials? As for "political prostitution", the fact is that nobody(and nothing) can hold me to ransom.
As long as I am concerned, politics is about service to the public and not individuals. Nigeria will always come first for the good of Nigerians. Nigeria must be better... Aluta Continua
May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria [/s] |

Family › Re: 9 Lies You Need To Stop Believing by meccuno: 9:46am On Jan 14, 2016 |
eleojo23: It's been a while since I created a topic on this platform. I wish to share this with you as a way of starting the new year.
The worst lies are the ones you tell yourself over and over again – the ones you live by. Perhaps someone close to you ingrained these lies in your mind, perhaps you were influenced by the negativity of popular media channels, or perhaps they grew from simple, innocent misunderstandings. Either way, if you plan to learn something new for the sake of self-improvement this new year, start by unlearning a lie that has been deceiving you. Here are nine lies I have determined to unlearn in my own life:
1. Success looks a certain way. You are not in this world to live up to everyone else’s expectations, nor should you feel that everyone else is here to live up to yours. You’ve got to pave your own distinct path. What success means to each of us is different. It’s about spending your life happily in your own way. You have your own personal calling that’s as unique as your fingerprints. The best way to succeed is to discover this calling within you and then find away to offer it to the world in the form of a beneficial service. Ultimately, if you can wake up every morning and do something that makes a positive difference, makes you proud, and makes you smile, before you get back to bed, you are a true success.
2. Happiness is about getting what you want. There are two ways people try to find happiness. One is to continue to accumulate more and more of what they think they want. The other is to appreciate what they already have. The latter is the right path. Happiness isn’t about getting what you want; it’s about wanting what you’ve got. Happiness is not a goal, it’s a by-product of living well in each moment. To be happy doesn’t mean you don’t desire more, it simply means you’re thankful for what you have and patient for what’s yet to come. Sometimes it’s easy to get so caught up in trying to accomplish something big, that you fail to notice the little things that give life its magic. So appreciate today for all it’s worth. Today is one of the good old days you’re going to miss in the years ahead.
3. A busy day is a productive day. “Work smarter, not harder” is one of the most common clichés in the personal development space. But like most clichés, few people actually do it. Go ahead and take a look around; the busy people outnumber the productive people by a wide margin. Perhaps you’re one of them. Busyness seems impressive. It puts you in the heat of the action. It gives you an elevated sense of accomplishment. You’re always late for social engagements, barely have enough time for family get-togethers, and hardly get a moment to yourself. Emails and texts are shooting out of your smartphone like machinegun bullets, commitments and meetings fill up your entire calendar, and sleep is an afterthought. You’re like a rock star without a record. Of course, it’s all just an illusion. A commitment to anything more than the essential is to work harder, not smarter. So flip it around and work smarter by putting first things first.
4. To be brave is to not be afraid. Truth be told, the only time you can be brave is when you are afraid. Being brave is when you do something, regardless of your fears, because you know it’s the right thing to do. In other words, you are afraid to do it because there are unknowns, but then you go ahead and do it anyway. Whatever course you decide upon in life, there is always the possibility that something will go wrong. There will always be difficulties arising that tempt you to fear that you don’t have what it takes. To map out any course of action and follow it to an end requires bravery.
5. To be strong is to not feel pain. Life is often painful. It requires a worthy struggle for growth and experience. Anyone who says differently is selling a lie. The strongest people are the ones who feel pain, accept it, learn from it, and fight through it. They turn their wounds into wisdom. It’s all about having the courage to take a break, to shed a tear, to dust yourself off, and then to get back in the ring to fight like you’ve never fought before.
6. Everyone around you is holding you back. Many of us don’t genuinely want to be responsible for our own fate. Perhaps we daydream about “fulfilling our dreams,” but we leave those dreams firmly in the realm of fantasy. We don’t research them, talk to people about them, read related books, etc. Somehow we prefer the fantasy to the reality. And there’s nothing wrong with that, until we say that someone else is “holding us back”. That turns an idle fantasy into a barricade of lies. The truth is, if you’re not working on something meaningful today, the only person holding you back is YOU. If you aren’t doing anything about your goals and dreams, you have no one to blame except yourself. Either you take responsibility for your life or someone else will. Blame is a scapegoat – it’s an easy way out of taking accountability for your own outcome. It’s a lot easier to point the finger at someone or something else instead of looking within. When it comes to working hard to achieve a goal or dream – earning a degree, building a business, or any other personal achievement that takes time and commitment – one thing you have to ask yourself is: “Am I willing to live a few years of my life like many people won’t, so I can spend the rest of my life like many people can’t?”
7. You are automatically entitled to certain things from others. People are sometimes led to have a sense of entitlement because they falsely believe they are owed something based on the social role they have chosen. For example, if someone has accepted the role of being someone’s friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife, they feel entitled to get certain favors from the other person. If someone has accepted the role of being a parent, they feel entitled to being respected by their children. If someone has accepted the role of being a consumer, they feel entitled to be served to their specific wishes. Of course, these expectations of entitlement often go unfulfilled. Why? Because nothing in this world is guaranteed. Regardless of your chosen role in all your relationships and walks of life, you don’t automatically get any more than you openly communicate, negotiate, and work for.
8. You will feel comfortable when the time is right. So many of us complain about the boring repetition present in our daily routines, yet we choose no clear course for correction. We want to change something, but we never think the time is right. Why? Because the very source of our boredom also provides a solid foundation of comfort. We are comfortable with our current surroundings. Steering off the known track is risky, and we are subconsciously scared of what might happen if we do. So, what happens when we stick to the current track? Nothing. We jog along the same circular track at a steady pace daily. We pass by the same mile marker at the exact moment we did yesterday, and the day before, and the week before that. There is not a worry on our minds because we already know the terrain that lies ahead. If something makes you a bit nervous and uncomfortable, it means you’re doing it right and growing. All great opportunities in life will force you to grow emotionally and intellectually. They force you to stretch yourself and your comfort zone, which means you won’t feel totally comfortable at first. And when you don’t feel comfortable, you will likely assume the timing isn’t right, even though it is.
9. It’s already too late. If you’re reading this right now, congratulations, you are alive, which means it’s not too late for you. Things can change if you want them to. Right now you can choose differently and make something new happen.
Getting rid of these lies from your mind will not happen automatically. It will take some time and practice. I have started erasing these lies from my mind and you too should do the same. The earlier you start the better.
I hope you found this helpful.
Happy New Year To You!
