PoliticsREVEALED: How Kwara Govt Received & Diverted UBEC’s N1.5bn Grant (Exclusive Doc) by MediaGuru36(op): 5:24pm On Jun 28, 2019
A ‘major scam’ involving diversion of public funds by the immediate past administration of Kwara State government, has been uncovered by the new government, Igbere TV reports.

The ‘scam’ led to the blacklisting of the state by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

Igbere TV reports that the then state government had mismanaged 1.5 billion naira grant meant to upgrade schools in the state in 2013.

This was further revealed on Thursday during an unscheduled visit of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to the UBEC headquarters in Abuja.

UBEC officials told the governor that the sum of N1.5bn was allotted to Kwara in 2013 with a request for the state to pay another N1.5bn as counterpart funding.

The officials said the government was later discovered to have borrowed the N1.5bn from a bank with which it immediately accessed the UBEC fund.

“Upon receipt of the UBEC's N1.5bn, Kwara government returned the N1.5bn it had borrowed from the bank and then diverted the UBEC's N1.5bn without investing it in educational infrastructure as required by law”, a top UBEC official told our correspondent.

“This led to UBEC blacklisting Kwara and demanding for immediate refund of its N1.5bn.”

Findings by Igbere TV showed that the then state government later returned N1.050bn leaving an outstanding N450 million which the Abdulfatai Ahmed's administration never paid to UBEC.

The new governor, AbdulRazaq was told that UBEC will only do business with Kwara when the outstanding N450m is refunded to UBEC by Kwara government.

Igbere TV reports that the Kwara delegation led by AbdulRazaq promised to pay the N450m to enable the state access funds to develop its schools.

Further investigation by Igbere TV revealed that Kwara has not accessed UBEC funds since 2013, following the blacklist.

Exclusive documents obtained by Igbere TV from UBEC’s headquarters showed that the commission has at least N5.6 billion available for Kwara which can only be accessed if and when the state pays the outstanding debt of N450m.

Igbere TV reports that AbdulRazaq's visit to UBEC comes barely 48 hours after he visited decrepit schools in the Northern Senatorial District of Kwara where most of the schools’ roofs had collapsed.

He had promised to look into the devastating state of the infrastructure across the state especially in schools, hospitals and road networks.

Here are some of the exclusive documents obtained by Igbere TV...

Politics“declare Your Assets Now”, PDP Dares Buhari, Osinbajo, Lawan, Gbajabiamila by MediaGuru36(op): 4:54pm On Jun 28, 2019
The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, called on President Mohammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo to make their assets public “as prove to Nigerians that they are not corrupt”, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the party also challenged the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, and the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, to also declare their assets in other to convince Nigerians that they are truly for “the fight against corruption.”

In a statement sent to Igbere TV by the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi, he berated the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) for insisting that it could not release details of assets of the president and other top officials without their consent.

“We are of the opinion that President Mohammadu Buhari, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan and Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila should declare openly their assets to allow Nigerians to further see how much wealth they have acquired since joining government.

“We believe laying claim to sainthood is easy as President Buhari and others have been doing all along, but Nigerians deserve to see beyond whatever government forces down their throats. By making public declaration of their assets, Nigerians will be able to see better and judge accordingly.

“By making public their assets, Nigerians will see how many heads of cattle have been added by President Buhari had 2019. Blowing hot and cold at the same time is not the hallmark of a leader with clean hands.

“We urge President Buhari and other top government officials to be more coordinated and exhibit transparency not only in fighting graft but in their dealings with Nigerians, because, no matter how fast lies have moved, in a flight, truth will catch up,”
the statement read in part.

PoliticsReno Omokri Reacts To Busola Dakolo’s Rape Allegation Against COZA Pastor by MediaGuru36(op): 4:01pm On Jun 28, 2019
Popular critic and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has reacted to the viral rape allegations against COZA pastor, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had earlier reported that Busola Dakolo, wife of singer Timi Dakolo, has accused Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) of raping her.

The celebrity photographer made this known in an interview with Chude Jideonwo on YNaija TV, which was closely monitored by Igbere TV.

In the interview, Mrs Dakolo revealed that as a teenager in the Divine Delight Club, the precursor to COZA, she was groomed and raped by the pastor.

She said it happened while she was a 16-year-old secondary school student living with her parents in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Reacting in a series of tweets obtained by Igbere TV, Omokri wrote;

“1 - I have NEVER liked Pastor @BiodunFatoyinbo of @cozaglobal for reasons that I will not say publicly. However, I am mature enough to divorce my emotions and be led by logic. And I counsel those now condemning him to do the same. #ForTheBodyOfChristNotForFatoyinbo

“2 - The average Black African is easily moved to hysteria by excitable emotions. This is why it is RIDICULOUSLY easy to manipulate Africans with the media Satan does his best work with such people, who can’t suppress emotion in preference to logic

“3 - Think. Dont emote. A pastor comes to your house early in the morning. He does not know who will open when he knocks, or who is at home. He knocks and immediately you open he pushed you to a chair and raped you in your pyjamas. Do people think?

“4 - Even the most USELESS movie director wont accept such a plot in a B rated Hollywood/Nollywood/Bollywood movie. A movie has to have PLAUSIBILITY. I dont like pastor Fatoyinbo, but I won’t suspend my intellect because of my dislike of the fellow

“5 - After he allegedly raped you, you kept quiet for enough time for him to go to his car and get a soda drink for you? It does not ADD UP. My dislike for @BiofunFatoyinbo won’t make me become a SLANDERER by default. This story rings very FALSE.”

PoliticsFaleke Declines Offer To Contest Kogi Governorship Race by MediaGuru36(op):
Hon James Abiodun Faleke, on Friday, said he will not be contesting in the Kogi State 2019 governorship election, Igbere TV reports.

This was in response to reported pressure on the lawmaker to contest the Kogi number one seat, by members of the Kogi West senatorial district.

Igbere TV reports that Faleke is member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja.

Speaking at a meeting of Kogi West stakeholders in Abuja, Faleke told the people that he was back to Lagos where he was trained politically and would only support any candidate selected by them.

He, therefore, declined the offer from the people to contest the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November poll, and instead, asked them to choose a candidate with the interest of the area at heart.

Faleke said as a result of the suffering of his people, he had to reach out to Governor Yahaya Bello in 2017 on the need to address the challenges faced by people of the state, pointing out that the governor paid deaf ears and never showed any interest in reconciliation.

He said he told Bello that there was the need for true reconciliation if things were to work out well for him, adding that the people of Kogi West voted for Senator Dino Melaye during the last election as a way of protesting the treatment they suffered from him (Bello).

CrimePastor Arrested For Raping, Threatening To Kill A Lady by MediaGuru36(op): 4:37pm On Jun 15, 2019
The Cross River State Police Command on Saturday said it has arrested one Mr. Hossana Okoi, Senior Pastor of Gate of Testimony Church, for allegedly raping a lady and threatening to kill her if she tells anyone, Igbere TV reports.

The police also said it arrested a 400-level student of Medicine and Surgery, University of Calabar, Nnamdi Kingsley Ikezue, for allegedly being in possession of arms and military uniform.

It said the student confessed to being a member of a secret cult.

Igbere TV learnt the student told police that the locally-made pistol found on him was for protection.

Our correspondent reports that Okoi and Ikezue were among 25 suspects paraded by police for various crimes in Cross River state capital.

The State Commissioner of Police, Austen Agbonlahor said Okoi, who claimed that his church was located in Sierra Leone, was arrested after a lady reported that a pastor, who was supposed to pray for her, had raped and threatened her with a gun not to divulge the incident to anyone.

But Okoi denied any wrong doing, saying that he only took the lady to a wedding and later to a drinking joint.

He said the lady was only framing him up, insisting that he didn't take her anywhere aside the joint.

On his part, Ikezue who claimed to be a student of Military College, Zaria before coming to UNICAL, said he was a cultist and only using the locally-made pistol to protect himself.

The police commissioner appealed to parents to monitor their wards, stressing that the police would do everything to rid the society of criminals.

Mr Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, has come under heavy criticism following his negative comments on Edo State Youths.

Igbere TV reports that Osagie had on Wednesday, referred to Edo Youths as “lazy” in a comment on social media.

He was reacting to a video in a WhatsApp group where a social media user had criticized the state government for leaving some bad roads unattended to.

The social media user had uploaded a video clip on the page, calling the attention of the group's participants to the bad state of a road in Benin City, which got worsen following a few minutes downpour.

But Osagie, instead of acknowledging the clip, went ahead and attacked the social media user.

He started by comparing Edo to Lagos, adding that Lagos boys would not post such clips of mere downpour like Edo ‘Lazy Youths’ does.

The comment of Osagie did not go down well with members of the group as majority of the group members reacted by calling for his sack.

The governor's media aide had to exit the group chat when the situation became unbearable. Despite leaving the group, the bashing continued till the following day with his foot soldiers unable to defend him.

PoliticsBREAKING!!! Cancel Feb. 23 Presidential Election, Party Tells Tribunal by MediaGuru36(op): 2:25pm On Jun 13, 2019
The Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and its presidential candidate, Mr. Albert Oworu on Thursday, June 13 asked the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal to cancel the February 23 presidential election, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the February 23 election saw the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress as the winner of the contest, which is however, being challenged by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The HDP in a petition sighted by Igbere TV on Thursday said the presidential poll was a “referendum” and not an election.

The party, therefore, urged the Tribunal to nullify the outcome of the exercise and order a fresh poll.

The HDP presidential candidate who polled a total of 1,663 votes in the election, insisted that the exercise was not conducted in compliance with the Electoral Act.

Igbere TV recalls that the HDP had similarly approached a Federal High Court to stop the inauguration of President Buhari for a second term. The case was, however, thrown out for lacking “merit.”

Meanwhile, Igbere TV had earlier reported that the Tribunal will today, Thursday, June 13 hear the application of the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar seeking access to the INEC Server.

INEC had declared Buhari and APC the winner of the February 23 election polling 15,191,847 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abubakar, who polled 11,262,978 votes.

But Atiku and the PDP, in their petition filed on March 18 to challenge the outcome of the poll, contended that “from the data obtained from INEC’s server, the true, actual and correct results showed that we polled a total of 18,356,732 votes to defeat Buhari whom they said scored 16,741,430 votes.”

PoliticsKano Government To Continue Investigating Emir Sanusi by MediaGuru36(op): 8:02am On Jun 13, 2019
The Kano State Anti-Corruption and Public Commission has insisted that its investigation into alleged financial misappropriation by the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, would continue despite reports of reconciliation moves between Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the monarch, Igbere TV reports.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV, the Commission’s Chairman, Barr. Muhyi Magaji Rimin-Gado said the three fundamental issues raised by the commission include obstruction of its investigation which necessitated its reports to the government.

He expressed worry that after the issuance of the query to the Emir by the Government, many things happened which necessitated the stating of its position as an independent entity.

“Our position that the investigation was not commenced at the instance of the government but as a result of series of complaints by Kano Citizens, and that by virtue of section 8 of the State Public Complaints and anti Corruption law 2008 as amended the Commission shall not be subjected to the direction and control of any authority, that the Commission is not under the control or discretion of any authority or person.

“That our preliminary reports is only for the government to act administratively so that the Commission can continue to exercise its responsibilities without any interference and nothing more.

“That as far as the Commission is concerned this investigation is ongoing and the Commission will do everything legally possible to deliver its mandate with respect to the case.

“The Commission hopes that with what is happening, Nigeria’s anti-corruption crusade would be allowed to flourish regardless of who is involved,” the statement read in part.

PoliticsTribunal Hears Atiku’s Motion Seeking Access To INEC Server by MediaGuru36(op): 7:50am On Jun 13, 2019
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has fixed Thursday, June 13 for hearing of the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s application for access to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s electronic server.

Igbere TV reports that Abubakar and his party, PDP are challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, All Progressives Congress at the February 23 presidential election.

By calculation, Atiku and PDP claimed to have defeated Buhari by 1,615,302 votes.

However, in its reply filed on April 10 to counter the petition, INEC urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition, insisting that the petitioners’ claims were false.

It said, through its lead counsel, Yunus Usman (SAN), that it collated the results of the election manually and never transmitted them electronically.

It added that it kept no server where results could have been transmitted electronically and stored as alleged by the petitioners.

However, the petitioners, in their application filed on May 8, maintained that “INEC kept central servers in which information was recorded and stored in database packets relating to accreditation of voters and transmission of results from the presidential election”.

They sought to be permitted to inspect the said servers and the card readers used for the conduct of the poll, examine and analyse the information obtained from them.

They also prayed for the tribunal’s permission to be allowed to file a report of their inspection, examination and analysis of the content of the facilities.

The applicants filed 13 grounds to back their application and their claims in it.

Part of the grounds of the application acknowledged that INEC was constitutionally and statutorily vested with the responsibility to conduct and manage the presidential election and set up electronic data central servers.

Maintaining that INEC deployed the servers for the conduct of the February 23 poll, they said as part of the grounds of their application, “the results of the election were electronically transmitted to the 1st respondent’s Central Server”.

PoliticsBen Kalu Reacts To Exclusion Of South East From 9th NASS Leadership by MediaGuru36(op): 1:53pm On Jun 12, 2019
Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, member representing Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has reacted to the exclusion of South East from presiding offices of the 9th National Assembly.

Igbere TV had reported that the inauguration of the 9th Assembly held on Tuesday, June 11, which saw the emergence of presiding officers in the two legislative chamber.

For the Senate, while Ahmad Lawan from Yobe (North) emerged as Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege from Delta (South) clinched on to the Deputy Senate President seat.

Similarly, for the House of Representatives, while Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos (West) emerged as Speaker, Idris Wase from Plateau (North) clinched on to the Deputy Speaker seat.

This development saw the exclusion of the South East geopolitical zone from the distribution of key leadership positions in the 9th NASS.

Also, in the executive arm, while President Muhammadu Buhari is from Katsina (North), Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is from Lagos (West).

For the judiciary arm, a Northerner, Justice Tanko Mohammed currently presides as the Chief Justice of Nigeria. A check on the list of Supreme Court Justices also showed that no Easterner currently presides as a Chief Judge.

Reacting, Benjamin Kalu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker, described the development as a sad one.

He said it was sad that the South East pushed for key leadership positions in the 9th National Assembly but ended up not getting any.

Kalu, who spoke in an exclusive interview with Igbere TV moments after his inauguration in Abuja, however assured that negotiations are top gear to get other principal positions for the South East zone.

He called on the Igbo nation to participate in mainstream politics, in subsequent times, adding that alienating themselves from Nigerian politics will do no good but further harms.

Kalu said: “We are not also happy about it. We are not happy that we made efforts for us to occupy some key positions and couldn't get any. But there are other positions coming, we are lobbying to make sure that we get integrated into the mainstream politics in Nigeria.

“This development is also a wake up call to the Igbos not to alienate themselves (from politics), but to participate in what is happening in the Nigerian politics. It is not every time you go hand tie with the system, you go with the flow.

“If you are not well equipped to sustain the temple while going against the flow, why attempt?, because it needs a whole lot of force to go against the current and Igbos don't have it at the moment.

“Until we are together with one voice pursuing one particular goal, understanding that our strength lies in all of us coming together with one voice, with what we have to bring to the centre in diversity, that is only when we can move the Igbo nation forward.

“A situation whereby a “pull him down” syndrome exist, we cannot move forward.

“Where a man is aspiring for a higher position and because you don't just like his face, you want to pull him down, it will not take the community forward. But if we encourage one another, definitely, the strength of one another will be showcased more than the weaknesses.

“What the Igbos have thrived on over the years has been capitalizing and showcasing the weaknesses of their brothers, let us encourage others in every effort they make be it in business, politics or career development. Let us encourage one another to push from one level to another level.

“But there is hope, and we are keeping that hope alive that we are going to get to the place of our dreams. The journey just started.”

On his emergence and inauguration as a lawmaker, Kalu said, “I am not just a Rep member for Bende, I am for the whole nation and very soon we will announce our presence. That will gladden the heart of the people of Bende and the nation as well.”

Asked what his Constituency, Bende should expect in the next four years of his representation, the Bende Federal lawmaker said, “availability.”

“They should expect us to be available, for us to network with them, and be able to represent them very well.

“You know the key functions of the parliament — the legislative, representative and oversight functions — we are going to carry them out effectively.

“But the one that is so dear to my heart is the representative function because that is where people element is so well expressed: where you understand the needs of the people, carry it on your shoulder and bring it down to Abuja to fight for them. That is the one I am interested in.

“I am now concerned with the ecological needs of our people. Erosion is ravaging our place and the roads are being cut into two. We can't access our farms again. Most harvests execution is hard because there are no roads to come back home with the crops home. Somewhere in Nkpa you cannot carry the crops with a vehicle, you have to carry it on your head and swim through a river because there are no roads, erosion have destroyed them.

“But we are pushing, very soon you will start hearing my voice in the National Assembly. We have been preparing and we have prepared couple of bills that we want to propose, motions we are going to announce. We are not going there to sleep, we are going there to showcase both the strengths and weaknesses of Bende.

“Now is the time to serve the people of Bende, the people are waiting. They are hungry for swift delivery of quality service and we are geared up, we are energized. We are passionate about the service that we are going to render, not for self but because the people are in need of it so we have to give it to them. It is not about Benjamin, it is about all of us.

“This is a call to all Bende who have something to offer to come, let's make Bende better. It is not for me to do alone. I want us to join our strength, our wisdom to project our community from where it is to where it ought to be,” Benjamin Kalu added.
