The governor of Lagos State, Akinwumnu Ambode has arrived the scene of the building collapse on Lagos Island where over 100 school pupils are reportedly trapped.

The Governor, who came in at exactly 2:45pm, said from the briefing he got from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency boss, 25 bodies have been rescued so far.

He said,

“I’ve been briefed that the building is a residential building accommodating an illegal school on the second floor.

“The rescue team are fully in charge and they will continue with the rescue operation. But I appeal to people to give the rescue workers a chance to save more lives.”

He, however, said the state government will carry out an integrity test on buildings around the area and demolish and any that fails the test.

A Nigerian lady, Victoria Adewole, is seeking for help to retrieve her three kids that were allegedly taken away from her in September 2008.



In a video she posted on social media, Ms. Adewole who was in tears, said she lives in Sweden and that the Swedish government forecfully took away her kids on grounds that she is not mentally stable. In the Video, Adewole said she has gone through medical examinations and that doctors have certified her mentally stable but the Swedish government have refused to hand her back her children.

Former Abia state Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to arrest former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, for allegedly embezzling $16billion meant for the power sector.


Kalu stated this, while speaking to journalists, on arrival at a private hangar at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday.

According to him, Obasanjo wants to control every sitting president and remain relevant for life.

“He brought corruption to government in 1999, Atiku who is good now, was bad to him before.

“No one is good to Obasanjo. He wants to remain relevant for life, this is his character.

“This same Obasanjo squandered over $16 billion on the power sector .

“The EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, should do his job and bring up all petitions written about Obasanjo. I challenge him to do so,” Kalu said

At the just concluded Lagos City Marathon, the life of a random street kid changed forever when Nigerian pop legend, Dbanj randomly gave a fan an opportunity to sing with him on stage.



The young boy, Joseph David dazzled and impressed the crowd so much that Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode came on stage and promised to take him off the street as well as gave him a cash reward of N2.5million which has been redeemed.


Days after the Marathon, the young boy was invited to the state house, Alausa-Ikeja where Governor Ambode and his wife presented him with a one year free education scholarship while Dbanj alongside the CEO of DKM media, Damian Ifeanyi Okoroafor offered him a deal with CREAM Platform to nurture and develop his talent in music education and entertainment.

On Wednesday, an Ikeja High Court sentenced Saheed Arogundade, Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Boundary/Aiyetoro Unit, Lagos State to death for the murder of a 32-year-old policeman, Gbenga Oladipupo.



Justice Olabisi Akinlade discharged and acquitted Arogundade’s five co-defendants Mustapha Layeni, Adebayo Abdullahi, Seyi Pabiekun, Sikiru Rufai and Yusuf Arogundade of a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit murder.



In a three-hour judgment which started at 2.35p.m., the judge held that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Arogundade murdered the policeman. Before delivering the judgment, for security reasons and to avoid disruption of proceedings, the judge ordered that the courtroom should be locked and the keys kept in her possession.

“The prosecution has been able to prove beyond reasonable doubt, the ingredients of conspiracy to commit murder and murder against the first defendant (convict).

“I therefore pronounce the first defendant guilty as charged on the counts of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

“I hereby pronounce the sentence of the court upon you Saheed Arogundade – that you be hanged from the neck until you are dead. May God have mercy upon your soul,” Akinlade said.

On hearing the sentence, Arogundade collapsed in the dock while his relatives wailed in the courtroom gallery. According to the prosecution led by Mrs C. Rotimi-Odutola, the convict committed the offences on April 10, 2010, at Gbara Junction, Aiyetoro, Ajegunle, Lagos.

“The deceased was on a commercial motorcycle to visit his mother, Mrs Mojisola Martins, in her home on Olayinka Street, Ajegunle, when they were ambushed and attacked by four men at Gbara Junction.

“Oladipupo was held down by three men and the convict stabbed him multiple times before fleeing with his accomplices.

“The deceased who was gravely injured, was taken to a hospital at Opaleye Junction in Ajegunle where he passed away,” the prosecutor said.

According to her, Oladipupo was murdered because he purportedly encouraged the use of commercial tricycles in Aiyetoro, causing loss of income for the NURTW unit. The offences contravene Sections 234 and 316 of the Penal Code Law, 2003.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was a worse dictator than General Sani Abacha, when he was in office.



Oshiomhole said this in an interview with Channels TV when he was reacting to a recent statement by former President Obasanjo in which he accused President Buhari of returning Nigeria to an era of late dictator, Sani Abacha, in which impunity reigned supreme.



Recall that Obasanjo in a 16-page letter titled,

“Points for concern and action,” released in January, made some damning allegations against President Buhari. He alleged that the President was putting into practice, the lessons he allegedly learned from late General Sani Abacha.

“Today, another Abacha Era is here. The security institutions are being misused to fight all critics and opponents of Buhari and to derail our fledgeling democracy,” Obasanjo had said in his letter

Reacting to Obasanjo’s claims, Oshiomhole disagreed that the country is drifting into a dictatorial state.

“Obasanjo can’t look me in the eyes and say those things, he is a worse dictator, he was worse than Abacha. How many people disappeared under Abacha's watch compared to the number of Nigerians who disappeared under Obasanjo's watch including his own Attorney General who didn't who didn't get justice. Even if you reduce it to family values, the argument betwen him and his son over who is the actual father of his children. Please don't talk about Obasanjo. There is a problem I have that in Nigeria, Obasanjo seems to eat his cake and have it. ” Oshiomhole said.

On the case of Justice Walter Onnoghen, Oshiomhole said it is morally improper for the Chief Justice of Nigeria to maintain multiple foreign accounts, and backed calls for the CJN’s resignation.

“You can’t fight corruption selectively, Onnoghen should spare the Judiciary the trauma,” Obasanjo said

The lawmaker representing Rivers East West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Magnus Abe has reacted to the Appeal Court ruling which granted Stay of Execution on the Judgement of Justice Kolawole Omotosho of the Federal High Court, which nullified all primaries of the party.


According to NAN, Patrick Luke, counsel to Abe, who is also a factional governorship candidate in the state, said the ruling had not changed the position that APC candidates had been omitted in the election list.

Luke, who is counsel for Abe and 42 others, in suit No: CA3/37/2019, said “The appellant asked for a stay of execution of judgement of the federal High Court delivered on Jan. 7. They also asked for a restraining order.”


“At the end of the proceedings today, the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division, delivered a ruling and refused the reliefs restraining INEC from obeying orders of the reliefs that were sought in the Federal High Court judgement,’’ he said.

Also reacting to the ruling through his Campaign Organisation, the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, said he was not perturbed by the decision.

Emma Okah, the spokesman of the organisation, said Wike was confident of winning the election because of his achievements in the state.


“We are not perturbed. We are not afraid of any candidate contesting against Gov. Nyesom Wike.

“His achievements in the state will speak for him and the people of Rivers State will surely grant him victory any day,’’ he said.

A Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) Ita Enang, has declared that among all the presidential candidates, President Buhari stands out as the best.


According to him, if former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar were to be elected, “it will be difficult to get him committed to a single term” adding that “he has refused to be committed on whether he would do one term or not.”

Enang urged Akwa Ibom people to vote for Buhari in the February 16 presidential elections as there was no alternative candidate to the seat for now.


According to NAN, the presidential adviser said this in an interview with journalists at his country home in Ididep, Ibiono Ibom local government area of the state.

He expressed optimism that Buhari will garner enough votes to win the forthcoming election.

The presidential aide said the performance of Buhari for almost four years now had put him above all other presidential candidates, stressing that Buhari will win the election convincingly.


“From all indications, I have seen and weighed all the candidates, particularly the two candidates, President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“I have looked at the pedigree and manifesto of all of them, the records and the antecedents of each of them and concluded that there is no alternative to President Buhari,” Enang said.

The former lawmaker said that voting for Buhari would enable him to continue with his credible programmes, adding that on completion of his tenure, power would return to the southern part of the country.

“And if we elect him, he will do only one term and power will return to the South, to go to either the South West or the South East,” he said.



According to him, If former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar were to be elected, “it will be difficult to get him committed to a single term” adding that he has refused to be committed on whether he would do one term or not.

On the health of the President, Enang said Buhari has become younger and healthier than when he was first sworn in to office in 2015, stressing that his health has been renewed by the providence of God.

“I am sure you are aware that the health of the president is no more an issue. By God’s grace, his health is being renewed like eagle.

He gets younger and stronger as he ages and am sure you know that Buhari looks younger now more than when he was first sworn in,” he said

Jamiu Olasheu, a 35-year-old Islamic cleric has been arrested alongside three others for being in possession of a human skull.


Two of the suspects: Teslim Ayeniromo, 45, and Sunday Kolade , 35, were accosted on a motorcycle, at Kofedoti area of the state, by a team of policemen attached to Agbara division. During a search, the human skull was discovered in a bag one of them held, consequent upon which they were whisked to the Police station.



During interrogation by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Adegbite Omotayo, the suspects , claimed that the skull was given to them by one Micheal Osanyinbi, adding that they were on their way to deliver it to the Islamic cleric when they were intercepted.



Spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest, said, “They led the DPO to the house of the man who gave them the skull. The man in turn, led the police to the self acclaimed cleric’s house. The Islamic cleric has made confessional statement that he actually requested for the skull which Micheal Osanyinbi promised to get for him at N25,000 and an additional N1,000 for the motorbike man who will deliver it to him.



He stated further that the skull is needed for a yet to disclosed ritual. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliaysu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Special Anti Robbery Squad for further investigation and prosecution”.

A helicopter in which Nigeria’s vice president Yemi Osinbajo was travelling crash landed in Kabba, Kogi State, his media aide said on Sunday.

Laolu Akande said the vice president and the crew were unhurt.

Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has described suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, as a shameless man for refusing to resign from office despite owning up to the charges of non-declaration of assets after he assumed office in March 2017.

The governor said this when he received members of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations that staged a protest against the suspended CJN in front of the state government house in Kaduna on Friday February 1st.

The governor while receiving the protesters, said with just over 20 years in public service, Justice Onnoghen possibly has more money than Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa. According to Governor El-Rufai, even Dangote cannot forget one million dollars in his bank account.

“

The case of Justice Onnoghen is the case in which somebody who has worked in government for past 20 years suddenly has millions of dollars in his account. He has admitted, but says he has forgotten about them. I want to express happiness to all of you for coming together to convey this very clear statement from the people of Kaduna State that in Kaduna we do not support corruption, in Kaduna we do not support injustice, in Kaduna State we are 100 per cent behind the integrity of our president. I can assure you that the message you have given to me will be delivered to the president today. The case with Justice Onnoghen is a very sad one. Othman Dan Fodio, the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate, wrote that the worst form of corruption you can find in any public service is judicial corruption.

“This is because when the president is corrupt or the governor is corrupt, it is to the judge that ordinary people can take their case to. When the judge himself is corrupt, it is the highest form of corruption and must never be condoned.

“The president did the right thing by asking him to step aside pending investigation. It is the proper thing to do. It is what is done in every organised and civilised society. Unfortunately, some people in Nigeria are trying to make white black and black white. They are using technicalities to delay bringing this man to Justice. Mr President did not remove Onnoghen from office. He said in honour of the Judiciary, he should step aside so that the charges against him can be investigated and prosecuted. But the man is shameless; he does not want to go but it is time for Nigerians to come all out and tell him he must go. Our judiciary must be clean. Our judiciary must consist of judges who cannot be bought,” the governor said.

President Buhari who claimed to be pro Anti-corruption fighter who seen endorsing Ganduje who was caught in the viral video collecting $5 million bribe from contractor.

Reno Omokri claim Buhari's desperation for 2nd term has caused him to abandon even his pretence of fighting corruption.

He wrote:

This thief, this rogue called Gov Umar Ganduje is who Buhari endorsed. Imagine. It was fitting that the endorsement was done at the Sani Abacha stadium in Kano. What better venue for the show of shame than a monument to Nigeria’s biggest ever thief! Shamelessness!

Even his wife, Aisha Muhammadu, seems unable to bear the stench of her husband’s hypocrisy. Have you seen her in recent days on the campaign trail? I admire Aisha. I suspect she does not want to share the stage with the likes of Gandollar, Akpabio and Orji Kalu.

But even if Ganduje has immunity, does the Constitution compel Buhari to associate with him? By endorsing Ganduje, Buhari share in his crimes as an accessory after the fact. How can a President associate with known crooks and still brandish an anticorruption image?

PMB’s desperation for 2nd term has caused him to abandon even his pretence of fighting corruption. He canonised Orji Kalu, the alleged eja nla thief, as a saint. Orji was declared wanted by EFCC only to turn up at Buhari’s right hand during his Abia rally

As for EFCC, I quote Mamman Vatsa’s last words ‘as to the Nigerian Army, the minute you start insulting yourself, you will never lack those willing to help you insult yourself’. In endorsing Ganduje, Buhari has insulted EFCC and EFCC even clapped for him.

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to publicly declare his assets.


Leader of Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti made the call while reminding Buhari of the promises he made in 2014 that he would declare his assets.

In a letter he personally signed entitled “I pledge to Nigeria”, Fasoranti said the president had vowed before the electorate that all his political appointees would only earn salaries and allowances as prescribed by the Revenue and Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMFAC).


He said:

“I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees to publicity declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment.

“It is now four months to the end of the four-year tenure of Mr. President and this pledge has not been fulfilled. Instead of doing what he pledged, presidential aides have been giving all manners of untenable excuses in the last three and a half years.

“This is a moral burden as it is said that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands and that examples are better than precepts.”

The Afenifere leader stated that a leader must not set for others, standards that are very difficult for him to meet in the order of “do as I say and not as I do”.

He said:

“The jeopardy of President Buhari anti-corruption war has really been one set of rules for the goose and another set for the gander.

“Afenifere therefore asks the president to immediately make his assets declaration form public so Nigerians can hold him as a man of his words.

“Such a power of example sets greater tone for good conduct in society than a thousand arbitrariness in the name of fighting corruption. The true meaning of leadership is being able to lead by higher standards.”

The Inspector General of Police, Adamu Muhammad, has ordered an investigation into the unfortunate incident that happened in Benin City, Edo state earlier today where it was alleged that a group of police men shot dead an unarmed man suspected to be an armed robber.

According to Instagram user, @CarrickDublin who shared a video from the scene online, the suspected man was fleeing the scene after he was apprehended when the police shot him, killing him instantly.

The People Democratic Party, PDP through their National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan reacts to Buhari's campaigns in Owerri.

PDP claim there was scanty Attendance at the stadium where Buhari campaign for his re-election as some members refused to hold the APC broom.

In a statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan, he wrote:

The scanty attendance at President Buhari’s rally in Owerri, Imo state, on Tuesday, shows that Mr. President has become a ‘general without a troop’.

The situation was so pathetic that a discomfited President Buhari could not articulate any message to support his re-election bid but told Nigerians to vote for any candidate of their choice in the general election.

It was pitiable to watch Mr. President garble, as the audience who refused to carry APC broom also remained passive, while many started leaving the venue while he was still presenting his address.

Ironically, Mr. President confessed that he had nothing new to tell Nigerians. If anything, the APC Presidential candidate, in his party’s usual penchant for false performance claims, alluded to a non-existent ‘market money’ which elicited heckles from the audience.

The fact that a sitting President cannot attract a meaningful audience from the same state where a mammoth & overflowing crowd received our candidate, Atiku, just a week ago, further confirms that Nigerians, across the board, have attained a consensus to return the PDP to power.

We therefore charge President Buhari to counsel himself, end his desperation for power and spend the remaining days to prepare his hand over notes to @Atiku, so that our nation can be returned to the path of peace, national cohesion and economic prosperity
