They insert some metal sheet(s) in between the wood to fortify it so you can use as main entrance/exit security doors.
Gives you the best of both worlds - form (aesthetic look) & function (security).

I’ve just not been impressed with the samples I saw from the person I had in mind.

In the UK they use 4" pipes and in 9ja with our open heavens rain a lot of roof gutter are either 1" or 2"

I used locally fabricated metal/steel doors for entrances and I regret it cos I got a pictures from the pop guys showing me the damage on the front door... It is basically breaking from the top, they said that it doesn't close well except they bang the doors.. Will have to change it to foreign door after I am done with other important stuff before screeding and painting starts.

Going by your criteria, Isreali door fits the bill more. I use wooden door reinforced with steel for entrance and Isreali doors for rear and any alternate exits.

I also need to buy two or three Isreali doors for rear exit, so if there’s anyone here dealing in such then pls post samples with prices.

Show some effort yourself by getting the roof or floor plan from your person. If no drawing, then make a hand sketch and indicate the dimensions.

The house is now in lintel stage.

I later settled for 3 bedrooms with two sitting rooms. I mould all the blocks and I had to dig sand from the land itself( I actually followed the surveyor advice, he told me to dig it so that the block can sit firmly) Even though I later paid heavily for it by using laterites. Lol.

For the wall, I think it depends on the material u prefer to use. It can be done with either wood or POP. So ur furniture or POP guys can do it for u.

A 3rd option would be to use cement and sand, which can be done easily by those guys that do moulds for pillars, windows, and so on.

For the floor skirting, I suggest u just buy readymade PU skirting boards and install.

This right here is actually one of the first steps to self-regulate here (and the sector at large) if we are being serious about doing things right and different from the govt regulatory bodies we criticize daily for lack of enforcement of building codes.

Once you understand this, then it is easier to understand why naija is where it is.

Also, one of the false narratives they push is that... the licensed practitioners (to avoid using pros) only have paper certificates and are not competent, while those that knows the real work don't need the yeye license (recall late Femi Fourscore made similar remark in his ChannelsTV interview) . This cannot be further from the truth, at least for Lagos state.
Infact, one of the best hands-on structural engineer I have come across is not only licensed but actually works with the state ministry.

The requirements to practice are defined and clear, the least we can do is comply. Then you can choose to exceed the standard if possible.
I don't blame these hustlers tho... i blame clients, project owners and decision makers that don't look out for the right selection criteria.

The kind of things people get away with here, they would think twice if something more significant like a properly archived historical review system or a practicing license was at stake.

We have to do better than the system we fault if we are to change this country, by starting with ourselves: Am I hiring the right people? Do I hold the license to practice in my field?

The reason Femi Fourscore took shortcuts is cos he knew he can get away with it. The reason substandard practices will continue to occur here is cos folks know they will get away with it. No difference!
