Good job, man.

Happy holidays people,

Pls I need a mason that can do block setting jobs over the holidays & weekend in Lekki.

We need to set ~900 blocks to push through during the holidays as the main crew had to take the break.

Will be glad for any recommendations of someone that is available immediately from tomorrow through Sat/Sun.

Thanks

Hmmm...have you sighted the structural design of the suspended slab to come to this conclusion @ bolded?
For all you know, the first floor slab design may have beams in place to support those new partitions. Afterall, there's nothing that says the layout of the floors has to be typical.

While the general layout may not be the most optimal, the changes desired are not a big deal at all and easily achievable with minor tweaks provided the original structural design was robust in the first place, if done at all.

@ Pompoms

UC92:
.
Madam, to the best of my knowledge, this design here is faulty and should be remedied.
It lacks privacy and direction of flow of activities.
The living room is more of a circulation lobby than a living room.
Design of this nature doesn't require an emergency stairs, even if you insist on having one, it shouldn't be a spiral stairs. The position of the emergency stairs is entirely off.
Laundry not well positioned.
Main staircase not well positioned.
On the first floor new walls were imposed on the suspended floor covering the living room, this will pose serious structural failure if not well handled.
Let the Architect work on the Functional flow and relationship of this spaces please.

Please involve an Architect and a structural engineer to resolve all these before you continue with this project.
God bless you.

Happy holidays guys,

Pls are there still approved Peugeot dealerships and/or service centers in Lagos that provides specialized services?

I have been using the guys at Oluwalogbon Motors in Ikeja but I've had a lot of repeat jobs over time. I doubt they are still affiliated to Peugeot OEM and I suspect they are just riding on past brand equity.

I hear there are other centers in Yaba and Lekki but I've not tried either as I'm not sure if its same kind of arrangement or not.

I have a Peugeot 301 that has multiple issues and I'll like to have a comprehensive check and repairs. Hence, I will appreciate any useful information that will point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Oh I see.

That sand qty is conservative. looking at the picture, it has gone far.

- Is that sharp sand or filling sand you're using?
- What is the height of your raft?

I'm just trying to do a rough number on the filling cost.

Thanks

Jeez!!!

You say all these to someone that was once your client? Someone that paid your bills at some point and must have been your toast at the time?

You even dragged his kids into it. Man, this is tasteless.

From 2011 to 2016 to 2021, at least one thing appears not to have changed much (if at all) i.e. how you address clients (or anyone for that matter) that you fall out with.

People change contractors in the middle of a project for various reason, but you don't throw the kitchen sink and scatter everything because you're no longer on board.

It is cringeworthy to read.

While you are fighting to defend yourself on all fronts, likewise be wary of those urging you on.

Edit: Unsolicited opinion.

BrabusNG:

Is that all you’ve got?

Brabus underquote to build a 3 floor building for you with just N12m

Anyway, did you pay him extra money on your build? grin grin

Was the project delivered within schedule or not?

May I remind you of your pickup line when you called me... You seem to have forgotten how much you begged me and how you told me the stories of....

You seem to have forgotten your message to me when I completed your raft with meagre 2.5m using my marine boards and my dump truck to deliver sand. You’ve forgotten how you jumped for joy and told me you’ve never believed raft won’t cost less than 4.5m and how you’ve been watching closely to see if I’m not cutting corners.

I can send you screenshots of some of your msgs though to refresh your memory or maybe you ask Kazeem grin

____

At what point did you realize Brabus work was unsatisfactory? Remember he doesn’t take money for a new milestone until the client is satisfied with the one paid for.

Was it at the beginning or the middle or at the very end after he has delivered and moved on?

Or you were saving it up?? grin grin

The gullible ones will buy your stories.

How many trips did this take?

Let me try....
I think that's filling (and not sharp) sand, if that's the case i'll guess about +/- 20 trips of those smaller MACK trucks that they commonly refer to as 20T (not the HOWO or china trucks).

You also had a bit of sand already from your excavation.

How close/far is that number?

Good job, again!

How can one utilise those american ceiling fans that comes with lights and rated 110V here in Naija?
Do we have to step down from mains or at each local connection point? Let's say we want to use them in all the bedrooms of a duplex, what's the best approach?

Absolutely!
Pls waterproof. Look around you and you will see wet walls even in recent builds. be rest assured that they used floor drains and tiles and still..

Poor workmanship is another huge factor but whatever the case you should make plans to waterproof.

What is your plan for the upper floors? what are you doing differently? I asked question below about that recently, doing some consultations already and will share what comes up.

Cheers.

Hello guys,

We are planning the casting of a slab that will serve as an outdoor rooftop terrace. this is not a roof slab but a fully exposed slab.

Pls what are the other options of treatment/chemical/admixtures that can be mixed with the concrete during casting to help the slab withstand all the harsh weather conditions it will be exposed to over a long period.

Note: Post-casting and during finishing, proper waterproofing will still be done and the surface tiled. Just thinking of a double/triple pronged mitigation plan.

Any recommendation/suggestion welcomed.

Thanks

This is so spot on and puts things into perspective.

I hope the poster takes the message to gain more insights into the workings in the country, but knowing that many here read to respond and not understand then message may just be lost.

qdlvy:

I tried ignoring this because you're either living in a different country or you're being willfully blind to the situation in the country.

I'll take your first paragraph as nothing but boastful talk to gain internet points. Go against anybody with more means, power and time than you in Nigeria and you'll be the one in jail regardless of who's guilty or innocent.

Regarding your second paragraph, a search of the accused's name on google will show you he was arraigned before a magistrate court for alleged fraud, with said case reported on a national newspaper. I could be wrong but I believe the accused himself comment on this thread about said case. If you care about evidence, which I doubt you do, you'll see said case died a slow death due to the plaintiff being unavailable (lives in another country, potential lost income and more expenses attending a court case in Nigeria) for a prolonged hearing.

I don't know which country you live in, same country where Al Mustapha, Oluomo, many ex-presidents, policemen, lecturers, primary school teachers sexually molesting kids, local iyalojas embezzling owo ajo, cultists, yahoo boys, Naira Marley, Mompha, even everyday people giving bribes, disobeying traffic laws, all of which are walking the streets free, not in jail. I know a lot of people who have committed fraud (I'm not accusing anyone of fraud, just making a point that your point is pointless, pun intended) and walking the street free. The country is a shitshow when it comes to upholding law and order. Besides, most cases of fraud in Nigeria are civil cases rather than criminal cases. Only the poor goes to jail in Nigeria.

I'm not defending or making a case for either side. I'm just surprised at some of the awful defenses I have seen here. If you're going to defend something, at least do so from a logical perspective rather than making moot points that portray you as a fanboy/fangirl.

I'm not replying to any further illogical responses. The thread should go on with its intended business.

Your message is understood but let's be clear that this is a gross exaggeration.

The problem with such misinformation is that you could potentially discourage others from venturing or even make someone pay more than they should while thinking they got a fair deal.

If you want to, you may state the amount you were billed and what it covers.

One thing you can bank on with Elegushi is that once you pay in full at commencement nobody shows up at your site again. That's a big deal for a prime location, especially when compared to what obtains in some other areas.

As per the legality... we've been told many times by LASG that they are illegal and you don't have to pay anyone anything. It's then up to us what we make of that.

Can you and all the practicing builders here confirm they are dully registered with NIB/NSE/COREN or other bodies as the case may be?

Can all the dully registered professionals on this forum signify, provide their registration nos for verification and state the licensing body?

This might be a good place to start from.
