NYSC / Corper Donates A Borehole And A Library In Ebonyi (Photos) by megawax8: 5:19pm On Mar 18, 2016

A National Youth Corps member Okeke Stanley Chima has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ozo Ogbenye 1 of Igbudu-Ekka community for sinking a borehole in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Chima also stocked a library at the Community Secondary School, Nkomoro in the council.

Chima said the projects were part of his Community Development Service (CDS), a core part of the NYSC.

He said the initiative was informed by a need to solve a problem as he saw it upon his posting to the community. Chima said the need became an obligation considering that he was accepted and cared for by the people.
He added that the only way he thought he could impact on their lives was through such projects. He urged the benefit-ting communities to continue to extend the same hospitality showed him to other Corps members that would be posted to the area.

Daisy Girl Foundation, a Lagos-based non-governmental organisation whose cardinal objective is to support the development of future national and world leaders, sponsored the two projects.

Mrs Marilyn Maduka, the founder of the foundation said they identified with the Corps member because his CDS initiatives were in tandem with the core objective of the foundation.

She said the foundation was interested in developing education and values especially in the girl-child in Nigeria and beyond. She urged the communities to make use of the projects as the foundation would visit in near future to inspect and do more projects for them if they could maintain the existing ones.
In their remarks on behalf of Igbudu Ekka, the community Head, Mr Ogbaigbo Emmanuel Ugbala and the youth President, Ogwale Matthew who lauded Corps member and the Foundation said the new borehole has ended the scarcity of water hitherto facing the community.

They said the project was going to unite the people more and prayed God to reimburse them in double fold. The Principal of community Secondary School(CSS) Nkomoro, Mr Ugama C. C, who commended the Corps member and the foundation said the library was the first of its kind since the establishment of the school in over two decades.

He said the Library would inculcate reading culture in the students and pledged to ensure judicious use of the library.

The member representing Ohaozara East state constituency, Hon. Augusta Udeh who commissioned the projects said he was impressed to be associated with such laudable achievement and thanked the Corps member and the Foundation for the humanitarian services. Hon. Udeh appealed to the community not to discriminate among themselves on the use of the borehole just as she admonished the students and teachers of CSS Nkomoro to make proper use of the Library.

The state Coordinator of NYSC in Ebonyi state who was represented by Mr Kingsley Ndukwe commended the Corps member for the initiative and urged other corps members to emulate him. Highlight of the event was the distribution of items such as clothes, beverages, shoes, cream, etc to widows and other villagers by Daisy Girl Foundation.

No, never.

The risks are too much.

1. There is risk of turning key to complete of which in some cases will allow the steering to lock.
2. You will lose powered steering.
3. Servo brakes require engine vacuum to be soft. Brakes becomes hard as soon as you turn engine off.

Thanks boss.

Car Talk / Advice From Experienced Car Owners/drivers Needed Here by megawax8: 7:05am On Jan 05, 2016
Good morning all,

I was driving yesterday and i saw a car that was involved in an accident......the front tire on the passenger side blew out, no lives lost but the car was damaged considerably......some persons were grieving with the car owner while some maintained that the driver was a little inexperienced and then i got to thinking, do i even know what to do in that situation or any car trouble situation sef?

so my good and experienced people of Nairaland, what do one do if say......

1. One is on speed and realises he has a failed brake
2. One is driving and say the tires on any side pulls off (if it can be broken down to each tires, would be super cool)
3. Others can add theirs..

Thanks.

Romance / Married In School, Single At Home by megawax8: 7:34am On Jan 03, 2016
I don't even know if this should be in either Romance ,Education or Religion.

The message is what matters though

Thinking about this topic, I’ve been wondering who the focus of this post should be – girls or guys or both.

In almost every tertiary institution in Nigeria, you find ‘undergraduate couples’ living as husbands and wives. You find a lot of these misguided people in virtually all schools. It’s so bad that, often times, they are duly recognised and acknowledged as couples by lodge neighbours, classmates and even leaders of various students associations. Little wonder there is such an award as “The best couple of the year award” shamelessly and thoughtlessly received by students..

Like I said earlier, I really don’t know the particular gender to address but let me just keep typing. The rate at which girls live with their boyfriends in their various off campus hostels is painfully alarming. Most times, these young girls are very beautiful, with bright and promising future. They cohabit with boys who are their fellow students as roommates. The lugubrious part of it is that the silly girl would always introduce the small boy as her fiancé..

Our society is really sick courtesy of those that live in it. These girls collect either hostel fees or house rents from unsuspecting (and sometimes, struggling)parents and end up in the house of a boy. You struggled possibly for several years to gain admission. Then, you became a prayer warrior posting and shouting ‘Amen’ at the slighted provocation. You fasted. You had one prayer point filled with promises of your loyalty and devotion to God if only He would answer your prayer. Now that He has fulfilled His part by answering and granting you admission, don’t you think He is expecting you to fulfill your own part, to keep whatever promises you made to Him??

Many of you just got admission and once you settle down (especially from your second year), crazy thoughts will begin to creep into your minds. Yes by then, the heat of the rush would have been over; If God didn’t capture you (possibly through the various campus fellowships), boys would have caught you. In my school we even have an unrecognized, unregistered but well offered course(Moz101. moz, being the short form 4 Mozambique hall, were fresh female students are accommodated). For d guys its a course that shouldn't be carried over. Soon, they would persuade you to move in with them. Of course, they’d give you one thousand
reasons to make you give in to their prodding..

Before you agree to move in and live with a boy on campus, consider the reason why you are in school in the first place. What image would you be creating about yourself?
Can this boy marry you in case you get pregnant for him as is always the case, or will you resort to series of abortions like many other girls before you?
What advice will you give your children in future concerning this kind of things?
After school, what next? Will the relationship really lead you anywhere?

This post is finally addressing the female folks. I didn’t plan it that way. Maybe it’s because they are the worst hit by the grave consequences of illicit sexual relationships. They are the ones that turn out to be the sore losers in the end. They call it school life but they don’t realize how idiotic they have been till it’s too late. You are not in school to
get married. Part of the reasons why you are in school IS NOT to get the husband-and-wife
experience, to see what it feels like for the boy to provide the money for food and for the girl to go to the market for food stuffs and cook. That’s pure misplacement of purpose!
A guy told me that he was practically learning how tobe a caring and romantic husband. Such shameless! Then you hear the girl say, “We are not doing anything, we are just roommates”. Yet she commits countless abortions before graduation..

Yes, your admission has given you
unlimited freedom. Yes, your parents are not there to tell you what to do or what not to do. There is even no blood relation around, so there's no fear of someone reporting you. But what about giving your womanhood respect and protecting your dignity? What about living in such a way as to have a positive story to tell the next generation (including your children) without your conscience pricking you?

What Goes Around Will Definately Come Around....

WHY not exercise a moment of thorough thinking....

Religion / Christmas: Christ Is The Reason For The Season by megawax8: 2:06pm On Dec 24, 2015
The season is here again. There is excitement and anxiety in the air. Its Christmas!!!

Christmas marks the biblical event of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, the foundation upon which the world’s largest religion is based. The story of that birth itself is a lesson in humility. Interestingly, the celebration of the event leaves much to be desired.

Most people go about celebrating Christmas without appreciating the reason for the season. For many children, their impression of Christmas is a time for eating and drinking, getting new clothes and toys, visiting, singing or listening to carols, using fireworks and playing at carnivals. To many youth it is the season for partying, drinks, drugs and violence. The adults don’t fare any better in this matter. To most people who would celebrate Christmas, it cannot be Christmas without all the above seemingly baseless practices. The lesson of Christ as the hope of the world is hardly remembered at Christmas. In fact, Christmas day sermons are about the most ineffective in winning people to Christ because many attend church service on Christmas just to fulfil all righteousness, before setting out on their frolicking. Perhaps there was a time the date really carried the toga of Christianity but today it is more of a secular celebration.

We need to know that Christmas provides a time to reflect on the humility of Christ’s birth, his purpose in coming to the world and the hope he offers. There can still be Christmas without unrestricted merry making and spending only to become sober the month after.

Although, its the saviours birthday which calls for celebrations but we should have in mind the reason for the celebrations too.

May the good Lord continue to shower each and everyone of us with unmeasurable blessings as we remember and celebrate his birth.

Merry Christmas.

Happy Celebrations!

The account opened for corp members is usually current account. Others can deposit into it just like every normal account. You can also continue using the account after NYSC. I converted mine into savings account recently tho.

perhaps it depends on the bank, but i am very sure my account is savings.

I agree with every other thing in your post.

Politics / Re: Prayer For Nigeria In Distress by megawax8: 10:58pm On Dec 18, 2015
A prayer i was taught to say for my country and one i wouldn't stop saying:

All powerful and merciful Father, you are the God of Justice, love and peace. You rule over all the Nations on earth, power and might are in your hands and no-one can withstand you. We present our country Nigeria before you. We praise and thank you for you are the source of all we have and are. We are sorry for all the sins we have committed and for the good deeds we failed to do. In your loving forgiveness, keep us safe from the punishments we deserve.

Lord, we are weighed down not only by uncertainties, but also by moral, economic and political problems. Listen to the cries of your people who confidently turn to you. God of infinite goodness, our strength in adversity, our health in weakness, our comfort in sorrow, be merciful to us your people. Spare this Nation Nigeria from chaos, anarchy and doom. Bless us with your kingdom of Justice, Love and Peace, we ask this through Christ Our Lord, AMEN!!!

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: FG May Employ Jobless Graduates As Teachers – Ngige by megawax8: 7:42am On Dec 16, 2015
Would new schools be built yearly to accomodate the newer set of close to a million 'unemployed graduates' constantly churned out of our tertiary institutions yearly?

Would the 'half-baked' teachers be given new jobs or would form a new set of 'unemployed' citizens?

Is this a sustainable plan?
