Politics / Retirees Still Collect N2000 As Pension In Adamawa - Official by megawax8: 3:16pm On Dec 15, 2015
Comrade Umar Mairiga, Secretary, Adamawa chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), on Tuesday in Yola said that some pensioners still collect N2,000 monthly as pension in the state. Mairiga told newsmen that “Adamawa is the state where you find the least paid pensioners in the country; we still have pensioners that collect N2000, N3000 and N4000 as pension”.

He said that the development was as a result of lack of compliance with the pension law that said government should increase pension by five percent every five years and whenever there was an increase in workers’ salaries. “There was salary increase in 2003 but we did not benefit; there was another in 2005, but we were not captured. We also lost out in the minimum wage increase of 2010.

“Some of our members, out of frustration, vowed not to show up for the ongoing verification exercise, saying they would rather forfeit their N2000 or N3000 monthly pension”, Mairiga said. He urged the new APC-led administration of Gov. Muhammadu Jibrilla to make a difference by looking into the plight of pensioners in the state as they had been neglected for years by past administrations. Mairiga said that retirees in the state were being owed about N8 billion accumulated pension and gratuity arrears, and urged the government take steps, such as allocating between N200million to N500 million monthly for the clearing of such arrears. ” We won’t mind even if it is N10 million monthly that is dedicated to the settlement of the arrears, particularly those of junior civil servants whose gratuity is between N400,000 and N800,000.

“Those category of retirees have no houses of their own; they need the money to erect a mud huts in their villages and wait for the end. ” It is not proper to deny retirees their right when it matters most; every able worker today is a potential retiree, hence the need for all stakeholders to start taking pension matters more seriously”, Mairiga said.

Jobs/Vacancies / The Best Way To Answer The Question: “tell Me About Yourself” by megawax8: 2:46pm On Dec 15, 2015
Goodday fellow NLders,

we all might learn a thing or two.

Goodluck in your endeavours.

Feel free to add suggestions.

The Tell me about yourself question is perhaps the trickiest interview question posed by recruiters. And it is also the most misunderstood for candidates. While this question seem harmless on the surface, giving a less-than-impressive ramble for an answer could prove costly. So how then do you answer the question? Read on.

It’s a TRAP, so be careful: About 80% of all interviews begin with this innocent question. Many candidates, unprepared for the question, skewer themselves by rambling, recapping their life story, delving into ancient work history or personal matters.

BEST ANSWER: Start with the present and tell why you are well qualified for the position. Remember that the key to all successful interviewing is to match your qualifications to what the interviewer is looking for. In other words you must sell what the buyer is buying. This is the single most important strategy in job hunting. So, before you answer this or any question it’s imperative that you try to uncover your interviewer’s greatest need, want, problem or goal.

To do so, you need to take these two steps:

1. Do all the homework you can before the interview to uncover this person’s wants and needs (not the generalized needs of the industry or company)

2. As early as you can in the interview, ask for a more complete description of what the position entails.
You might say: I have a number of accomplishments I’d like to tell you about, but I want to make the best use of our time together and talk directly to your needs. To help me do that, could you tell me more about the most important priorities of this position? All I know is what I (heard from the recruiter, read in the classified ad, etc.) Then, ALWAYS follow-up with a second and possibly, third question, to draw out his needs even more. Surprisingly, it’s usually this second or third question that unearths what the interviewer is mostly looking for. You might ask simply, “And in addition to that?…” or, “Is there anything else you see as essential to success in this position?"

This process will not feel easy or natural at first, because it is easier simply to answer questions, but only if you uncover the employer’s wants and needs will your answers make the most sense. Practice asking these key questions before giving your answers, the process will feel more natural and you will be light years ahead of the other job candidates you’re competing with. After uncovering what the employer is looking for, describe why the needs of this job bear striking parallels to tasks you’ve succeeded at before. Be sure to illustrate with specific examples of your responsibilities and especially your achievements, all of which are geared to present yourself as a perfect match for the needs he has just described.

Ebonyi Auto Crash Claims Lives Of 8 APC Supporters

More than 8 All Progressives Congress (APC) members mainly supporters of House of Representatives candidate in the just concluded National Assembly election in the state, Mr. Uche Nshii died in a ghastly motor accident that took place at Ezzamgbo junction along the ever busy Enugu-Abakaliki Federal road in the early hours of today.

The accident involving an All Progressives Congress (APC) Sienna branded bus without registration number rammed into a tipper carrying full load of sand heading to Abakaliki from Enugu killing 9 occupants of the both vehicles.

An eyewitness, Mr Chinedu Egwu, who spoke to our correspondent, said “accident use to happen all the time in this Ezzamgbo junction. The truck was carrying sand and was heading to Abakaliki from Enugu while the Sienna bus driver was heading to Enugu from Abakaliki”.

Regrettably, the Sienna was on a very high speed. On getting to Ezzamgbo Junction, there was a motorcyclist plying one way, on sighting the motorcyclist, the Sienna driver while attempting to avoid hitting the motorcyclist, the Sienna bus skipped off the lane, jumped over the pavement and rammed into the oncoming tipper killing everyone involved. “It is due to over speeding that made him to rammed into the on coming truck. If he had not been on a very high speed, he would have avoided the motorcyclist without having to jump over the
pavement before ramming into the tipper”.

The eyewitness called on the state government and the Federal Ministry of Works to construct bump at the junction to prevent further accident occurring at the area.

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, who stopped on the scene of the accident to assess the nature of the accident and the state of the victims, described it as painful. Governor Umahi noted that the victims were Labour party supporters who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and were heading to Enugu to witness the Appeal Court Judgment against him in the April 11, 2015 governorship election.

Confirming the accident, the Ohaukwu council chairman, Hon Clement Odah, who described the accident as unfortunate and regrettable, attributed the cause of the accident to over-speeding and cautioned drivers against over-speeding, dangerous overtaking, drinking while driving, especially during this yuletide period. He lamented that it was very painful that the victims would lose their lives at this point in time, especially as Christmas celebration was at hand.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Chief Friday Igah said; “it is very unfortunate and sad that we would loss 8 of our supporters this period. The most painful thing was the death of those who fought for the party during the electioneering campaign”. Also, Mr Victor Ituma a resident of
Ezzamgbo noted that “I was just coming
out from my house reaching to this junction, this truck was going on its own when the bus rammed into it. It would be called that in the last four months more than 40 persons have so far died in Ebonyi State as a result of
ghastly motor accident.

Crime / 10 Feared Dead In Auto Crash On Abakaliki-afikpo Road, Ebonyi State. by megawax8: 3:23pm On Nov 18, 2015
An accident involving an 18 seater bus and a crane truck, on Tuesday, claimed the lives of about ten persons, including a woman and her two kids, at Hausa quarters junction, along Abakaliki-Afikpo road, in Ebonyi State.

The 18 seater bus belonging to Ezza South Local Government Area with registration number NKE 28LG rammed into the crane truck belonging to a Chinese company, with registration number DKA 17YF.

Speaking on the incident, an eyewitness, Mr Favour John lamented the constant accident at the junction. He said, “The truck was trying to turn all the way from Spera in deo junction but the bus driver, instead of stopping like others who saw it decided to drive past but unfortunately he rammed into it, It is due to over-speeding that he rammed into the turning truck.” John urged the state government to put up bumps at the junction so as to forestall further occurrence in the area. It was gathered that officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, had last week warned the driver of the bus against over-speeding.

Those who were at the scene for rescue operation had to use axe to break open the mangled bus in order to remove the bodies within. However, a pregnant woman who was pulled out of the carnage was still breathing and was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki for medical attention

Fast-forward to 2015, i have some questions:

1.what happened to the website 'nigeria.gov.ng'
2. Who is incharge of the website, ministry of information right?
3. Shouldn't a country like Nigeria have a working website? If there's one and i do not know, do well to let me know.

Gracias.

I noticed since yesterday that my laptop won't boot.
It gives me the black screen.
I turn it on and all the lights are showing, but it just won't power up on the screen.

I tried removing the battery and holding down the power button for about one minute, before replacing and plugging to a power pack, but no show.

Still same status quo.
Please help.
What do I do now?

I don't mind taking it for repairs.
I just need to be sure he or she is trustworthy.

does it make any sound like usually during normal start-up and do you hear any now?

It displays nothing asides a total black screen?

Sounds like a screen problem but screens hardly black out unless the story is incomplete.

Politics / MTN Asks Nigeria To Let It Stagger Payment Of $5.2 Billion Fine by megawax8: 8:10pm On Nov 15, 2015
South Africa's mobile phone giant MTN has asked Nigeria for a plan to allow it to stagger the payment of a $5.2 billion fine just days before the Monday deadline, a source at the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) told Reuters.

The source added that the government was considering the request, made at a meeting on Friday between MTN and high-level government officials, and that the decision would be disclosed on Monday.

The NCC slapped the fine on MTN last month for its failure to cut off 5.2 million unregistered SIM cards.

MTN spokesman Chris Maroleng said: "We are waiting for authorities to come back to us".

Nigeria has been pushing telecommunication operators to verify the identity of subscribers due to concerns that unregistered SIM cards are being used for criminal activity or even by Boko Haram militants waging an Islamist insurgency in the northeast.

"At the meeting, MTN pleaded passionately for staggered payment since the option of reduction of the fine had been ruled out," the NCC source said. However, a source familiar with the discussions said that an eleventh hour reduction of the fine could still be possible.

"Until the final announcement is made, there may be some room for manoeuvre," the source familiar with the situation said.

Spokesmen for Nigeria's presidency and communications ministry declined to comment. The fine - if fully enforced - amounts to more than the past two years' profit for MTN in its biggest market.

The new communications minister, Adebayo Shittu, told Reuters on Friday the government did not want MTN "to die" or shut down operations as a result of the penalty. The fine is based on $1,000 per outstanding unregistered SIM card, as stipulated by Nigerian telecommunications laws.

Nigeria accounts for 37 percent of revenues for MTN, which operates in more than 20 countries in Africa and the Middle East. Since the announcement of the fine, its shares have lost nearly 25 percent of their value.

Mega..wax8

There's no way he will let go of the relationship without having an effect of sorts visit him.

He is afraid of the future and that in itself kills faster.

I advise people to live in this moment.
Live in the NOW...

Concerning your love life, what do you need to do right now? Break Up, right?
Then Break up.

Now, you need to have the understanding that it is not so much about what you are doing, as it is about how you are doing it.

Also, what is the state of your mind as you break up, do you have grudges, deep unspoken ones against her, or even yourself?

Before you embark on the breakup journey, you need to fill your mind with positivity, make sure you bear her no ill, and that you bear yourself no ill. Accept what is, and make peace with the things you can't change.

Talk with her in love. Express yourself, say all the things you feel went wrong...then make a declaration that you wish her well.

Whether the breakup will last or not is an issue for another day.
But after all is said and done, you sure do need time apart.

Finally, I leave you with this quote from Thicht. My aim is to get you to have a flip in perspective.
