PoliticsRe: Saraki, Ekweremadu Will Be Sent Packing Next Week – Senator Marafa by Meiji(m): 10:27am On Jul 24, 2015
Senator Kabiru Marafa has vowed that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu as well as other principal officers in the Senate leadership would be impeached on Tuesday, July 28, when the upper legislative chamber resumes.
I thought one required a two-thirds majority to impeach a Senate President? Does APC have a two-thirds majority in the Senate?

PoliticsRe: We Will Continue With Jonathan’s Privatisation Programme – Buhari by Meiji(m): 5:00pm On Jul 21, 2015
Ah... one of my biggest fears has been allayed. I had feared that the Buhari administration may seek to reverse the privatization and take the sector back to government control. Thank God he has said he won't.

PoliticsRe: What Is The Need Of Minister When We Have Permanent Secretaries by Meiji(m): 9:38am On Jun 27, 2015
So why did Buhari promise to name his cabinet within a week of inauguration if according to you there's no need for ministers?

http://dailypost.ng/2015/04/15/buhari-to-announce-his-ministers-one-week-after-may-29-inauguration/

Nigeria’s incoming President, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), yesterday disclosed that his cabinet would be announced very quickly within one week of inauguration; and that “Anyone with a whiff of corruption or any kind of taint will not be in the cabinet. Our manifesto will reflect zero tolerance for corruption”.

PoliticsRe: After Going Against His Party's Directives, Saraki Adjourns Sitting To July 21st by Meiji(m): 12:56pm On Jun 25, 2015
presido1:
Hehehehe, the problem is that APC are not united to take a united stand against anybody. As it is now, Saraki is the one punishing APC and it looks like he has the backing of Aso Rock.
The only thing that united APC was the common desire to remove Jonathan. Nothing else.

doxime:
This is the beauty of Democracy.

on the flip side, anybody who thinks that Saraki is exhibiting all this Bravado without a strong backing from the presidency needs to think again
Why would he be doing this with the backing of the presidency? You do realize that the Senate needs to be in session in order to confirm the ministerial list? How will Buhari be expected to keep running his government without ministers? You do realize that he promised to hit the ground running?

So what happens to governance now that the Senate is going on recess? Are they also going to collect full-month salary this month and next?

Speaking further in Yourba language, the governor said: “I know what they want is money. Call me one of my aides to find something for them. I don’t have time for any comment.”
The journalists, upset at what some of them described as a behaviour unbecoming of a governor, ignored him.
Very disgusting comment, if true. "Find something for them"? Arggh...

I can't remember him ever saying that he doesn't fly business class. What I heard from him is that he doesn't fly first class, and then he shared a picture of him sitting in economy class to buttress his point. Is business class the same as first class?

Naija Twitter should focus on more important things, please.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge (commonly known as the "Bay Bridge" ) is a major dual-span bridge in the U.S . state of Maryland. Spanning the Chesapeake Bay, it connects the state's rural Eastern Shore region with the more urban Western Shore. The original span opened in 1952 and with a length of 4.3 miles (6.9 km), width of 28 ft (8.5 m) (eastbound) and 38 ft (11.6 m) (westbound) was the world's longest continuous over-water steel structure, the parallel span was added in 1973. The bridge is named the "Gov. William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge" after William Preston Lane, Jr.who, as Governor of Maryland, initiated its construction in the late 1940s after decades ofpolitical indecision.
Interesting that such a bridge can be constructed by a state governor. Here, a Lagos State governor cannot construct 4th mainland bridge because of "federal waters".

U guys should stop Being pessimists abeg, no be una dis senators and reps dey represent?

Recall any moda-f***ng legislator dat went dere to fill up his purse rather than representing his people. E better make I no get senator representing my zone dan get a docile chronic thief there
Recall of an erring legislator is possible in theory but almost impossible in practice. The constitution provides for recall, true, but it would require a majority of registered voters in the constituency of the erring lawmaker. Now you have to ask yourself how easy it would be to retrieve the voter's register from INEC, how to mobilise the entire constituency to come out and sign and deliver the notice of recall. The sheer logistical challenge makes it virtually impossible.

So really we have to ensure that we vote in the right people going forward and exercise vigilance to ensure they perform their constitutionally assigned duties.

Though I doubt that the bill will be passed, it's good to see Nigerians protest for a worthy cause rather than their stomachs. It shows that all hope is not lost.

I'm encouraged.

that one is not our concern in this article.. moreover dont forget as an Apc state he was starved of Fund by the then PDP lead government. so i expect that to change now that Apc shangiya is in power
Please stop this rubbish about APC states being starved of funds. If you've been following the news, you'll know that oil prices have been on the downward trend since last year, and Nigeria is even finding it difficult to sell our crude oil.

I earnestly desire the day an Igbo man will be president of Nigeria, but please not Rochas. I won't mind Peter Obi though.
