Politics / "We Will Deal Decisively With Qur’an Desecrators" - Zamfara Gov (3 Weeks Ago) by Meiji(m): 5:06pm On Aug 23, 2016
August 1, 2016

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara has warned that the state government “will deal decisively” with anyone caught desecrating the Holy Qur’an in the state.

Yari made the declaration on Monday while addressing newsmen shortly after meeting with the state’s Council of Ulama Consultative Forum in Gusau.

He said the State House of Assembly would soon review its law number seven so that the culprits would be prosecuted under Shariah law if they were arrested.

He said those who committed the offence did so to perpetrate their evil machinations and called on the public to pray that such evil doers did not succeed in their mission.

The governor said the state had never experienced such situation especially since it launched the application of Shariah legal system in 2000.

He said the state government would investigate the motive behind the act which came to public knowledge during the last Ramadan fast.

He said while the state government would continue to encourage preaching against the act, it would also deploy security personnel to monitor possible places where the acts were carried out.

Mutilated pages of the Holy Qur’an were discovered in sewage in Gusau which attracted public outcry.

salykely:

Chief let us cross check the Bible with ur suppose insult. Open to Mathew 21 vs 10 &,11, it says 10

As he entered Jerusalem the whole city was thrown into an uproar, saying, "Who is this?" 11 And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee."
Matt 21:10-11

Again Mathew 21 verses
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them. 46 They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, because the crowds regarded him as a prophet.
Matt 21:45-46

Again Act 3:13
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate after he had decided to release him.
Acts 3:13
Mr. Man go learn ur scripture

Are you aware that there were two elements to my statement? I said "regard him as a mere prophet" AND "deny his divinity".

I guess in your haste to post a comment you didn't bother to read and understand. Work on your comprehension.

And don't get me started on the numerous Bible verses that support the divinity of Christ. I don't have time this night.

I'm talking about insult and u are talking about ideological differences. The prophethood of Jesus Christ is duly captured in our Holy Book and that is what we go by. I can assure u that any muslim who insult Christ will be attacked by his fellow muslim. If saying that Jesus Christ is a prophet translates to insult, it means that they are insulting their Holy prophet too because he is also regarded as a prophet. So, it is just about ideology rather than insult.

So if I say Mohammed is not a true prophet of God because Jesus is the only way to God and has the true message of salvation for all mankind - is this an insult or an "ideological difference"?

These christians are always out looking for problem with the muslims. May be that one thinks he is on nairaland. For God's sake, what is the meaning of this rubbish? U will see them insulting muslims everywhere for no reason only to turn around and start forming the victim. After creating the storm, they will be asking why the rain. Has any muslim ever insulted Jesus Christ? This thing is getting too much. And they know very well that a muslim will never take that from u except if u hide behind the laptop to do that. We shall see the end of this problem they looking for upandan.

Actually from the Christian perspective, Muslims insult Christ by saying he is a mere "prophet" of God and denying his divinity.

That we don't scream and threaten violence as a result doesn't make it any less an insult.

And it just so happens that they chose to arrest him at the venue of the convention? If they've suspected him of being a beneficiary of Dasuki's "largesse" all this time, how come it is after he declared for the PDP Chairmanship that they suddenly decided to arrest him? Why not invite him for questioning first, then arrest him if he refuses to show up?

Yes the EFCC has a right (duty, I should say) to investigate suspicious transactions in any account. However, are they empowered to FREEZE an account without a court order to that effect?

Below is Section 34 (1) of the EFCC Act that requires a court order before the EFCC can freeze any person's account. We need to insist that our institutions follow the rule of law.

You people have to consider the dangerous of homosexuality and lesbianism first before you make any comment, what did our religious scriptures said about this shameful act, in Islam if you found guilty of homosexual activities its death penalty, and there's three ways to conduct this punishment, 1. hanging 2. buried alive 3. thrown from the tallest building in the town. I don't know what is the specific punishment behind homosexuality in the Bible and other religions scriptures but I'm sure both Christianity and Judaism doesn't advocating homosexuality. surely what the youth done isn't the right thing, they could have handed the man to the authorities, but taking laws from civilians is the hazardous thing to do, I hope people with this detectiful behaviour will take a lesson from this scenery.

Politics / Re: Navy To Establish Own Maritime University, Operational Base In Lake Chad by Meiji(m): 3:58pm On Mar 10, 2016
Just two months ago, the Federal Government scrapped the Maritime University project of the last administration situated at the Niger Delta, claiming that we already had a transport institute in Zaria (see link http://www.thewhistleng.com/fg-scraps-maritime-university-in-delta-opts-to-upgrade-transport-institute-in-zaria/). One wonders, therefore, what informs this decision to set up a "needless" maritime university at Lake Chad, or how the navy is expected to conduct training exercises for sea operations in a fast-receding lake.

Anyway, the 97% stay winning.

Politics / Navy To Establish Own Maritime University, Operational Base In Lake Chad by Meiji(m): 3:50pm On Mar 10, 2016
Less than two months after the Federal Government scrapped a maritime university created by the country’s past administration, the Nigerian Navy has hinted of its plans to establish a new maritime university in the country and a Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Lake Chad.

This disclosure was made yesterday in Lagos, during a training seminar organised by the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC). The theme of the training was “The future of professional training in the Nigerian Navy”.

In his opening remark at the event, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Ibok Ette-Ibas noted that conventional security challenges have forced the navy to move towards adopting new strategies.

Using the navy’s participation in the northeast operation against terrorist sect, Boko Haram, as well as the force’ battle against militants and vandals in the creeks as examples, Ibas said he had directed a review of the navy’s training curriculum to address the challenges.

According to Ibas, the establishment of an FOB in Lake Chad, creation of choke points by placing houseboats around the creeks, as well as the enhancement of surveillance capacities were among the new strategies adopted.

The naval chief, however, did not give details of how, when or where the proposed maritime university – which he said would cater for the training of naval personnel and other maritime stakeholders within and outside the country – would be established.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government, in January, scrapped a maritime university established by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in Delta State.

Ibas said, “For over five years we have relied majorly on the Regional Maritime Awareness Capability (RMAC) that gives us an eye over the horizon.

“We have commenced the process of emplacing a more robust surveillance system, FALCON EYE, which when completed, will provide surveillance on the entire 200 nautical miles of our Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

“This will therefore boost our ability to contain the notorious maritime challenges that we presently have out there.

“The navy in particular has been obliged in the context of the prevailing national emergency to transit a complicated range of a full spectrum of warfare. From her traditional maritime environment in which she engages in ensuring order in the EEZ and territorial waters, washing ashore to be occupied by complex riverine and brown water operations, to a completely new challenge of engaging in fighting in build-up area and desert warfare, as obtained in the northeast theatre.

“On account of the foregoing, the navy has in the last couple of years found herself increasingly assuming operational responsibilities in the continental theatre. Even more profoundly is the asymmetric characteristics of the engagement.

“Suddenly, the navy has had to find herself fighting an adversary who uses unconventional weapons and tactics, employing terrorism to exploit the vulnerabilities of own forces.

“All of these have impacted a compelling need to admit new weapons and technologies, tactics, doctrinal shift and logistics management.

“The evolving scenario has necessitated significant changes in our operational procedures, particularly in addressing the spate of crude oil theft, illegal bunkering and attacks on shipping.”

Earlier, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) NAVTRAC, Rear Admiral Adeniyi Osinowo who noted that the command conducts over 120 courses in its 11 colleges and schools, added that the naval training was a function of operational realities, technological changes and fleet renewal.

“As we have witnessed in the past two decades, the operational doctrine of the Nigerian Navy has been challenged by emerging threats in our maritime environment.

“With attendant need for new technologies and fleet recapitalisation. As a result, it became apparent that we need to devote significant efforts towards reflecting on extant doctrine as well as the future direction of training in the NN,” he said.

Osinowo disclosed that the command has in the last six months embarked on a comprehensive review of the existing curricula in all NN training institutions.

“The review involved identifications of additions, retentions and deletions as well as recognition of new fleet and technologies. Apart from generating inputs from the operational command’s, an effort was made to align the courses conducted with global maritime training standards while new and more impactful teaching methods are being integrated into our practices,” he said.

At the seminar were Commandant, National Defence Academy (NDA), Rear Admiral Ilesanmi Alade; FOC, Western Naval Command (WNC), Rear Admiral Raphael Osondu; Director of Operations, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Uduak Essien; Admiral Superintendent, Naval Doctrine and Assessment Centre, Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani; Director of Naval Information, Commodore Chris Ezekobe and Commodore, among others.

Retired naval officers including Rear Admirals Ndubuisi Kanu, O.O. Joseph and Francis Akpan were also at the event.

Bet many didn't watch the video.
PMB said he never made that promise in his campaign stops, but admits it's there in the APC manifesto. Therefore the govt will look into it.
In otherwords he wasn't definite on the govt's stance on the 5k stipend,i.e he is not committing the govt, but also not dismissing its implementation outright.
But for me,unless the govt is suicidal or trying to pander to cheap publicity, the 5k free bill should be thrown into the dustbin. The money is not there and the infrastructure and modalities for its implementation are also not currently available

So let me get this straight. On the one hand you agree that the 5k promise was in the APC manifesto, yet on the other Buhari shouldn't commit to it? Why then were Nigerians presented a manifesto if the APC had no intention of abiding by it? What happens to those who voted APC specifically because of the promise of N5,000? When will Buhari apologise for scamming them?
