Politics / Re: Kaduna Government Declares Shiite Sect Illegal by Meiji(m): 9:32am On Oct 08, 2016 |
Laughable how a government that has detained Zakzaky for 10 months without trial has the moral standing to label the activities of an Islamic sect "illegal". Hypocrites. 1 Like |

With this statement credited to the Zamfara state governor, it is unreasonable to assert that the governor directly instigated yesterday's killings? 14 Likes 2 Shares |

salykely: Are you aware that there were two elements to my statement? I said "regard him as a mere prophet" AND "deny his divinity". I guess in your haste to post a comment you didn't bother to read and understand. Work on your comprehension. And don't get me started on the numerous Bible verses that support the divinity of Christ. I don't have time this night. 1 Like |

kabrud: So if I say Mohammed is not a true prophet of God because Jesus is the only way to God and has the true message of salvation for all mankind - is this an insult or an "ideological difference"? 6 Likes |

kabrud: Actually from the Christian perspective, Muslims insult Christ by saying he is a mere "prophet" of God and denying his divinity. That we don't scream and threaten violence as a result doesn't make it any less an insult. 404 Likes 46 Shares |

And it just so happens that they chose to arrest him at the venue of the convention? If they've suspected him of being a beneficiary of Dasuki's "largesse" all this time, how come it is after he declared for the PDP Chairmanship that they suddenly decided to arrest him? Why not invite him for questioning first, then arrest him if he refuses to show up? 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Politics / Re: Does The EFCC Have The Power In Law To Freeze The Bank Account Of A Citizen by Meiji(m): 10:40am On Jun 21, 2016 |
Thanks OP. I fail to understand why the EFCC cannot follow basic procedures in the execution of its duties. What would it have cost them to get a court order to freeze his account? |
Politics / Re: We Have Right To Freeze Any Suspicious Account Including Fayose’s — EFCC by Meiji(m): 11:09pm On Jun 20, 2016 |
Yes the EFCC has a right (duty, I should say) to investigate suspicious transactions in any account. However, are they empowered to FREEZE an account without a court order to that effect? Below is Section 34 (1) of the EFCC Act that requires a court order before the EFCC can freeze any person's account. We need to insist that our institutions follow the rule of law. |
Politics / Re: Buhari's Ambassadorial Nominees And Their State Of Origin by Meiji(m): 5:21pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
Finally we're beginning to see more balance in the non-ministerial appointments by the president. This is why I always urge people to speak up when things aren't being done right. Doesn't matter if you're called a "wailer" - SPEAK UP. 4 Likes |
Business / Re: Buhari Endorses CBN’s Flexible FX Market Bid: BusinessDay by Meiji(m): 5:18pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
The independence of a Central Bank is one of the key principles of a functional market economy - every investor worth his salt examines the level of central bank autonomy in building country risk profiles before making investment decisions. We will pay for allowing Buhari erode the independence of the CBN. |

Referring to wanton massacres (permit me to even say acts of genocide) like the one at Agatu as "clashes" already shows the government isn't serious about addressing the issue. I urge the communities involved to arm themselves and defend their loved ones and their land. The government doesn't give a damn about you. 3 Likes |

The other day it was the Alaafin and his wives parading all around London. Who is paying for this useless ostentatious display of wealth? Are traditional rulers worth the amounts being budgeted for their welfare? We'll have a serious discussion over these issues when oil runs out. We're not yet ready. |

Politics / Re: Navy To Establish Own Maritime University, Operational Base In Lake Chad by Meiji(m): 3:58pm On Mar 10, 2016 |
Just two months ago, the Federal Government scrapped the Maritime University project of the last administration situated at the Niger Delta, claiming that we already had a transport institute in Zaria (see link http://www.thewhistleng.com/fg-scraps-maritime-university-in-delta-opts-to-upgrade-transport-institute-in-zaria/). One wonders, therefore, what informs this decision to set up a "needless" maritime university at Lake Chad, or how the navy is expected to conduct training exercises for sea operations in a fast-receding lake. Anyway, the 97% stay winning. 2 Likes |

Politics / Re: Why PDP Must Not Die by Meiji(m): 4:17pm On Mar 05, 2016 |
If the PDP must die, then let it be at a time when we get another alternative party strong enough to serve as a counterweight to the ruling party. All I know is that Nigeria must never again become a one-party state. |

Obiagelli: This is what they call "logic of Kagawa". What do you mean "do not allow them to operate"? How are defenceless citizens without any instruments of coercion supposed to confront armed militants to "prevent them from operating"? Why do we have a police force? By this flawed logic, we should also tell northerners to "prevent Boko Haram from operating". Nonsense. 3 Likes |

doctokwus: So let me get this straight. On the one hand you agree that the 5k promise was in the APC manifesto, yet on the other Buhari shouldn't commit to it? Why then were Nigerians presented a manifesto if the APC had no intention of abiding by it? What happens to those who voted APC specifically because of the promise of N5,000? When will Buhari apologise for scamming them? 1 Like 2 Shares |
