Celebrities / Re: 2face Idibia On Drugs: ‘i Have Stopped Smoking Marijuana’ by Meldrick(m): 3:23pm On Jul 28, 2011
According to Tuface:
I have never taken marijuana to go onstage. It was just for relaxation purpose. But like I said, I don’t even want to go there.

So, let’s leave that. I just knew marijuana wasn’t for me. So I stopped. Because it makes me feel I am in another world.

I stopped using it a couple of years ago. I wouldn’t say it was difficult stopping it. It wasn’t too difficult.

It was just craziness that introduced me to marijuana. You know how youthful energy used to push one into things like that. In those days; I listened to songs like Rolling down the Street Smoking.

All those songs can influence, if you want to be influenced. It is not for me to advise musicians not to write or sing about drugs.

@ post
Look very well at the bolded part. Your foolish title make him look like someone who is addicted to marijuana and is fighting to stop.

u sure will make a very poor reporter. No difference between ur misleading post and the sick editors of City People's write up.
I read the story and had to come back to your misleading title. Just couldn't get a mix.
And to think this will make front page is baffling.  Tomorrow when Tuface says, I eat food, some people will post it and it will make front page

Nairaland / General / Police Run Away From Station At The Sound Of Boko Haram by Meldrick(m): 4:30pm On Jul 06, 2011
Bauchi – In what could be described as a revenge mission, just barely twelve hours after the police, yesterday, killed three suspected members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram,
in a gun duel at Unguwan Kaura, in Jahun ward of Bauchi state, gunmen suspected to be members of the group, Tuesday night, invaded Toro Divisional Police Station.

Vanguard gathered that the gunmen, numbering about five, stormed the station at about 8:00 pm, shooting sporadically into the air, causing panic not only among policemen on duty, but members of the public, in the neighbourhood, who scampered to safety.

When the gunmen entered the station, they met it empty as all the policemen on duty ran for dear lives, leaving behind their arms and other belongings. It was further gathered that the gunmen ransacked the station, carting away guns and ammunition. They also freed the only suspect in the cell who was arrested on Sunday, for stealing a goat.

Our correspondent also learnt that the gunmen left behind a bag suspected to contain explosives at a spot between the police station and the Toro local government secretariat.

No casualty was recorded during the invasion as the hoodlums carried out their nefarious activities unchallenged.

When contacted the Bauchi state Police Public Relation’s officer, Mohammed Barau said he has ‘’no comment
’’ as at the time of this report.

Crime / Re: Skye Bank Worker Stabbed To Death By Husband, And Cut Into Pieces (with pix) by Meldrick(m): 8:49am On Jun 30, 2011
Must all marriages end in the ''till death do us part'' theory?

I first heard the story on Ispiration FM and it was very annoying and indeed pathetic especially realizing that a lot of women face this domestic violence and family keep saying ''be patient'' and this is what they say till the woman dies. Just so painful.
Crime / Skye Bank Worker Stabbed To Death By Husband, And Cut Into Pieces (with pix) by Meldrick(m): 8:43am On Jun 30, 2011
Although details are sketchy for now, but is confirmed that, Arowolo Akolade, allegedly stabbed his wife to death and cut her into pieces on Saturday June 24, 2011.Kolade was claimed to be a born again Christian, and Titilayo had been married for two years and had a daughter. No one knows exactly what transpired the day he killed his wife, only, family and friends got worried when Titi didn't show up at work or contact anyone for days. The police were called in and when they got to the couple's home, they found Titi's dismembered body and a distraught Kolade there. He has since been arrested.Friends say Titi had left Kolade sometime last year, after he beat her mercilessly, but went back to him, only to be killed. The late Titi was a staff on Skye Bank, Victoria Island.May her soul rest in peace, amen

Seconded!!! They are really mad. If the scoreline was in favour of the Argentines, then it wouldn't have been Ojoro. It is normal for Argentina to beat Nigeria but abnormal for Nigeria to beat Argentina. We won and it should be investigated. una and FIFA dey mad truly.

Nairaland / General / 17 Year Old Chinese Kid Sells Kidney To Buy Ipad 2 by Meldrick(m): 4:28pm On Jun 03, 2011
Apple lovers are known for their somewhat radical devotion to any new products the company introduces, but selling body parts to afford them is definitely something new — and scary. According to Global Times, a youngster in China's Anhui province wanted a new iPad 2 tablet so badly he was willing to part with a kidney to be able to afford it.

The student, a 17-year-old high school student named Zheng, told a local newspaper "I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it. A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20,000 yuan." The "broker" was true to his word, and after the operation was completed on April 28, Zheng received his 20,000 yuan, which equates to a little over $3,000.

The young organ donor carried out these plans without the knowledge of his mother, who was surprised to see her son awash in new, expensive electronics. After discovering what Zheng had done, she promptly alerted authorities, who have been attempting to track down the buyers ever since.

Renaming an institutional facilty to bear its own name, from the acronyms of a politician is now vendetta? What logic? undecided Can they just arrest that buffo-on already?
There is no other word to define his leadershiprulership than tyranny. An individual who knows what Democracy is all about will not try to muscle out the legistature and the demon was comfortable ruling the state without a legistative arm. Renaming institutions to bear his own name. The height of misrule.

I agree, he is the worst thing that happened to Ogun State.

u see , the ways of God will only be mysterious to men. I don't question the wealth possessed by any man of God. Who am I to do that? I leave them to their God.
I acknowledge the part of the bible that says, the earth's the Lords and it's foolness therein. If you father possesses the earth then why struggling with poverty. My advise to you is to stop judging men og God, there's always a consequence.

Kobojunkie:

Bill Gates worked to produce products since he was 13, struggled to sell that product to people for years, to get where he is today.  What similar accomplishment, if any does this pastor and others who are considered richest in the world boast of?

Bill gates will not even brag of hardwork the way you are bragging on his behalf. Listen to his interviews.
Remember, except the Lord builds a house, the labourer loabour in vain. Even Bill Gates acknowledges that all wisdom cometh from God.

Kobojunkie:

Here are more direct questions for you.

a) How much does the pastor give himself as salary each year?

b) How much are his expenses and how does he justify them?

c) What fraction of monthly take ins go to actually tending to the poor in the immediate communities around the many churches?

d) What service do these churches offer and how often?
How do you expect me to know the pastor's salary. I don't nose into what doesn't concern me just the way you are nosing into Oyedepo's affair to know how much he earns as salary, the type of food he eats and how much he has in his account. That's not your business.
Secondly, when he gives , he is not accountable to you so don't expect him to start telling you those he has helped and those he intends helping.
