Nopuqeater. Address the substance&stop chasing shadows&irrelevances.
Did mohammad placed a curse or not according the islamic hadiths? If he did,is this love for ones enemies or hatred? Jesus&Stephen in Acts 7 was being stoned to death,before he died of the stoning he said father forgive them. Why couldn't mohammad have done same? Theres no love in islam but hatred&terrorism+promiscuity.
@jesus,
please can u substantiate ur claim on the curse placed on the jews for me with a quote or reference? thanx

don't worry henceforth there will be civility with u.
I dont believe you. The direct meaning of the verse is clear why twisting it?
@toba, i am not twisting anything and hopefully, i will never. i quoted from which translation book i got my source, actually i "cut and pasted" it. Now what is left for u to do is to google for translations of the Qur'an, get the translations i quoted and see for yourself. Then also, on your own part please let me know which translation u copied from, then hopefully we shall come to a better understanding. 'PLS DO US ALL THE FAVOR OF COMING BACK TO REPORT UR FINDINGS so that some1 coming later wouldnt think I am just misinforming u. Like i said earlier, pls lets be civilised and honest enough in bringing our facts to the table. what patience does not give u, impatience cannot!

may we all be guided

@frosbel,
i'll love to have a civilized dialogue with u. i have read some allegations u put forward, and it is my wish for us to see if we can sort out the difference. who knows, maybe one of us would come to a better understanding or even see the light?

Please, can u educate me (evidences) on your posts regarding;
1. Muhammad is a liar
toba:
There is a verse in the Quran that says “they deceived and Allah deceived and Allah is the best deceiver.” (Q. 3:54)
Why would an all powerful God want to deceive, is something that only Muhammad can think of. Certainly, might and deception are oxymoronic. A God that resorts to deception, can't be almighty. The entire career of Muhammad was filled with deception, lies, manipulations and tricks. He even licensed his followers to malign him in order to win the trust of their victims and when they lower their guards assassinate them.

his criminal Mujahid, who regards himself as the “Purest Among Muslims,” (and I agree) sees no need to prove Islam and to ascertain that the seventh century Arab for whom he is plotting to kill innocent people was actually a prophet of God.  He rightly says that Muhammad never bothered proving his claim.  He simply raided and killed people, and imposed his religion on them by the sword. Consequently, Muslims should do the same. You can't get a more truthful definition of Islam than this and at the same time there is nothing more diabolic than this.

This brain dead murderer does not want to consider the possibility that Muhammad might have been a liar.

This is what Muhammad is offering his brain-dead followers.  What a shameful religion. If you still call yourself a Muslim, aren't you ashamed?  You should be. If you had any dignity and pride you would be. Kill those who do not believe in me so you can have intimacy with 72 whores in paradise?  Is there any low, lower than this? And you call that fiend a prophet?
haba toba, i simply said i wanted to have a civilized dialogue, u have rained all kinds of insult on me, my religion and everyother thing u could find. This is exactly the reason y i do not even like responding to posts on NL. I'll give u the benefit of doubt and respond to part of your posts, but know that i am too busy to be responding to insults and comments that would derail the main topic of the thread.

i dont believe in insults because Allah says in 6:108 (Asad-translation) "But do not revile those [beings] whom they invoke instead of God, lest they revile God out of spite, and in ignorance, "

As regards the verse of 3:54; translation from Asad-translation
3:54 (Asad) "And the unbelievers schemed [against Jesus];  but God brought their scheming to nought: for God is above all schemers."
translation from Yusuf Ali-translation
3:54 (Y. Ali) "And (the unbelievers) plotted and planned, and Allah too planned, and the best of planners is Allah."
do u see any difference in these translations and the one u quoted?

unfortunately, in most cases pple try quoting the qur'an but quote it out of context or wrongly (i'll assume in your own case it was a mistake since u may not have a knowledge of the Arabic language)
Generally, the verse is in defence of Prophet Isa with regards to the persecution and his attempted killing by the unbelievers of his time. If u can find a copy of the translation of the Qur'an it is a beautiful story and i sincerely urge u to read it

BusinessRe: Dangers Of Allowing Sanusi Lamido Implement Sharia Banking - Learn From The USA by mendax: 6:44pm On Apr 17, 2010
@frosbel, a link was posted earlier from wikipedia where u can get an overview of how the sharia banking or musharakah or whatever u wish to call it is performed. If u take ur time to read it, it will explain how it is different from interest based banking.

if u wish to sincerely learn something, learn from a good source. like some1 pointed out, u cant learn about islam from anti-islamic sites. Y do u not goto learn maths from an english teacher? is it because he cannot count or is it because he is not an expert?

I noticed, like many other pple here, that ur problem is the "islamic" or "shariah" denotation. Lemme ask u, a question. Have u heard the word ARABIC NUMERALS? do you know y its called that way? because the west got the digits u use in maths today from the arabs. Do u or the rest of the west, think that the arabic numerals are been imposed on them? or is it another way of imposing the arab ideas that has not materialised over the past thousand years? so i dont think that if u really search ur soul, u have any complaints

finally, unlike u, the west has seen the value in interest free banking (even though u dont believe its interest free). But, during the recent economic crisis, banks were reducing there interest on loans, until at a point in the uk, it went as low as 0.5%. Then why not remove it completely? It was clear to the whole world at that time (i mean economic experts), that at that time, there would be no way forward if the interest rates were sustained.

i am sincerely hoping that we are sincere in seeking out the truth as opposed to winning an argument or just causing deviations from the topic at hand. The poster is free to post his questions if he is really sincere he wants to learn. The link posted by codebase, hopefully will satisfy the poster about the real ethics and values of the banking method in question. I hope the link will be useful

unfortunately, i dont hav much time, but i wish to quickly point out that, the name of something shouldnt really be a problem to you (because i noticed that is frosbels major problem). But if i may point out, that if the principles are good for your economy and the name is changed will u stil be willing to accept it? or are we still going to reject it (wether its good or bad) just because it comes from the muslims?

Again, I am more of a passive nairalander, because i dont like (& dont even hav the time) indulging myself in most of the distractions we find in such theads, but i hope the poster (frosbel) finds the guidance he is seeking.

Car TalkRe: deleted by mendax: 9:14am On Apr 07, 2010
ireneann:
Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this question. It only shows that we are still our brothers keepers. The reason the car was overheating was as a result of air pocket in the radiator.

I drove the car back from the east on Sunday and it was purring and eating up the miles with the temperature gauge not moving an inch above its normal position and this was with the air-condition at full blast.

Once again I want to say thanks to everyone who contributed. And for those fighting grin I say take am easy oh. E neva reach that stage na grin grin grin ;

Shalom!!!
@poster, there goes, i guessed u needed to bleed the radiator cos i once had a similar problem. i am also glad u had it sorted out. but u must also be careful to always fill your radiator to the exact gauge level.  if for any reason u fill up the radiator higher than the required level, u'll have to bleed it again (remove the airpockets), if not u are back to square one and your mechanic wuld hav money to chop again

cheers
Car TalkRe: deleted by mendax: 11:20pm On Apr 04, 2010
@poster,

well, many of the previous posts on chemistry, engg and personal experiences are relevant, but i just wanted to add that; its very important to note that after having a good ratio of coolant and water, some cars require u to bleed the radiator if not the car would start overheating, even if ur fan, top-gasket etc are in perfect order

for the bleeding aspect, just meet ur mechanic

hope this hleps

@nosa2,
yeah u can stil download & install apps directly on the iphone if u hav access to wifi or EDGE (not a wired internet conection). But u'll definitely need access to a PC or MAC to sync ur multimedia (eg music, photos ,videos) thru itunes. in much the same way ur ipod needs a computer with itunes.
the problem is that, u can only sync ur iphone details to a particular itunes library, and if u want to sync ur fone again to another computer, u'll have to erase(or overwrite) the data already on the phone. Also, i dont think u can go and sync ur phone details on sum1 else's itunes library if they already hav another phone synced to it, otherwise they'll loose their data in their itunes library for their phone also!

infact, what it means in summary is they try to make the iphone as "one phone, one computer", no Ashawo OR polygamy wink

hope, this helps

SportsRe: New Fifa Ranking: Nigeria Now World Number 15 by mendax: 12:32am On Feb 04, 2010
cant u guys read? someone has pasted the rankings for u all on comment #10, the updated fifa ranking just reflects teams that played in the african cup of nations and friendlies, the last column reflects this, thats y u'll notice most other nations didnt move. for example they added a whopping 108 points to nigeria to move us 7 places, while most other nations just stood still.

so we shouldnt start celebrating yet. and do we even need a fifa ranking to know the state of our football?

I honestly didnt get this part of your msg. If you were referring to the grup screen. Then everytime there is a kernel update, you have the list of the latest kernel and the previous kernel show up in your grub menu. The reason is to allow you switch to a last working kernel in case the latest kernel give you some issues.

2ndly, are there anythings I should take note of if I want to upgrade to 9.10, would I loose my docs for example? Thanx
My advise is to backup and do a clean install. 9.10 is a major release and comes with many radical changes from Jaunty. many things like Hal, boot manager, filesystem and init etc have either been depreciated or completely removed. hence the chances of failure is very high, also with the unstable internet we have in nigeria if anything does wrong like internet gets interrupted or power failure doing an upgrade you system would be horsed. The clean install has many advantages and much more a preferred and recommended way of installing a new release.
@bigrovar, thanx. u ar right i was referrin to the grub menu, i thot mayb there was a way i could reduce the number of items listed. if i had my last 4 updates there, and i am dure atleast the last 2 worked fine, u see there mayb no need to keep all.

also is there anyway i could stop the counter frm counting down just 10 secs b4 it automatically logs me in (thats on the grub screen), since i'm dual bootin

lastly, i'll take the advice on the fresh install, but why is it that anytime u reinstall a new distro, it creates a small partition of abt 1 - 2GB, i know its necessary but, if i keep havin small partitions of 1GB, it may look clumsy, cant i mayb merge the smaller ones together when i dont need them or direct the new one been created to overwrite an old parttion or just do sumthin smart like that to avoid wastin my HDD
