Go straight to the airlines website.I reserved on air France and Ethiopia airlines. They don't require that you put in credit card details. Just choose the option of paying in their office. its valid for 2 days or so. Don't bother about the duration of the validity. Just reserve, save on your desktop and upload. They know its not a confirmed ticket cos they don't require you to pay for one b4 you get your visa.

There is another market where I got my things from. Cant remember the name but its after Agbara market but before badagry. Had really good stuffs. I saw trucks unloading there. Heard its the main market for winter stuffs and other sellers across the states buy from them. Cheaper than Yaba. I still use the jackets I got there. I think its once a week market on Tuesdays. Not to sure.

Even if you have an invite letter, what is the purpose of your trip? I know some people provide a day to day activities and what they will be doing in Canada. When I invited my mum for my graduation. I uploaded my graduation invitation as her purpose of travel and on the IV letter I wrote she would stay for a couple of weeks afterwards cos I had not seen her in 2 years.Yes you can upload your flight itinerary/reservation. They advise you don't pay for a ticket until your visa is approved.

Good Day my people, For the option of online application, while filling the TRV form ( IMM5257) , please how will i go about the signature of applicant and date...should i leave that part empty? please i need the experience of people with online application option. Thank you.
Not sure which form though. If its the family form just leave it. If its the main TRV application form, after filling the form you will need to validate it by clicking on "validate" on the top right corner. You don't need to sign it.

Hi Everyone,

Glad I stumbled on this thread. So I have a question. I plan on applying to study in Canada and here's a brief profile. First degree in Physics (3rd class) and this is my primary concern. I have worked for about 13 years mainly in the finance industry. I have ICAN, PMP and some UK insurance certificates.

What are my best options? My plan was to do a Masters in finance or economics or even management. But i just read up that the 3rd class will be a problem. I started out a masters locally but didn't complete - just one course left. Was finishing off with a distinction though.

Sorry the info is kind all over the place. Please advise.

I was considering Saskatchewan and Manitoba for my postgrad.

Masters in Finance will be a good choice with your experience. You never can tell. With your experience and certifications you can get an admission. Also try an MBA and major in finance. If you have just one course left and coming out with distinction, why don't you complete it and then go for a PHD.Lots of funding for PHD students.

Thanks.

thanks for the response Jawa.
I'm going the online route. If my biometric is done in Lagos, can I submit my passport outside Nigeria when dey request for it? or use courier service to send the passport to them. Please kindly advice. Thanks
You can submit your passport anywhere in the world. Had same issue with my mum. Left for the UK a day after she got the passport request. I sent an email to Accra with copy of exit and entry stamp to the UK asking if she could submit in London. They replied that she could with the passport request letter. I didn't get any formal letter from them. I printed the email and attached it to the passport request letter and the passport. It was stamped. If you have plans made already outside the country, go on with it. That's the good thing about online application. It doesn't tie you down.

I want to make reference to a past post..... Weather you apply for PGD,PGC,MSC,PHD... Just put up a simple and good application.. And pray and hope for the best... What will be ,must surely be... Not the discouraging post of PGD hardly scale through... #just saying #
Don't mind them.

I agree with you. While there are still people going the PGD route and getting Visas, majority of them get denied.
PGD admission is very easy to get, most people do not even have to do any form of writing to get the admission so it becomes the 'easier route' to schooling in Canada. The VOs know this, so to get approved in this 2017 o, your case must be extremely convincing.
To be honest, quite a number of PGD students from Nigeria, do not have genuine intent to study in Canada. PGD students get approved everyday from other countries (as seen on Canadavisa) but we Nigerians must have done something in Canada to be getting these high denial rate.
Go for masters to be on the safe side.
This is so untrue "To be honest, quite a number of PGD students from Nigeria, do not have genuine intent to study in Canada" and so unfair to PGD students studying in Canada or intending to study. Most PGD students have low GPA that getting into a masters program is very competitive. I came to Canada as a PGD student and will be going for an MBA. What differentiates a PGD student with masters and PHD student based on genuine intent? Are the master students and PHD students not looking for greener pastures and education too?

Hello. Thanks for your response. My mother in law completed her application online but I've been doing follow ups on her behalf. She provided me with a UCI and a file application number that starts with V and I've been including those numbers in my emails to accra. What is the DLI?

Also, when I've sent e-mails to accra and requests through the CSE forms with additional documents, I've only received the standard automated messages. Is there anything I should be putting on the subject of the email or in the body of the email to get a personalized response and not the automated response?

Thanks!
Sorry DLI number is for students. Mixed it up. Don't worry, if they have a response for you other than the automated emails, they will respond. After my mums visa got approved, we needed to submit her passport in the UK cos she had already travelled. I sent so many emails to them and they responded to all of them. I keep replying to the last email I got to keep the trail. The very first email I sent had subject as "Urgent request-then the UCI number. Make sure you send emails with the email address she put on the form. My mum gave me her password so I sent all the emails via her email.

Is it possible to send an additional document after paper submission without request? Will it be accepted.? Thanks
Do you have a DLI number to enable them trace your application? I did online application for my mum and sent additional documents after submission via email without them requesting for it. They sent a confirmation of receipt email saying the documents will be added to her application.

Hello. Which email did you send the inquiry to? Is it accra.immigration@international.gc.ca And was the application you sent an online or paper one?
Its the email address above. If you applied through paper, its better you link it online so you can see any update made on your application. You need to quote your DLI number when sending an email to them to trace your application.

The ratio of denial for PGD I have been seeing here is almost alarming. In comparison to Masters and PHD. In fact I am yet to see a PHD who has been denied. It's not hard to miss why. On the enchelon of importance and credence going by denials here, VOs must think not very good thought for those going for PGD. Good that you made it. For every one or two PGD that made it, those fallen soldiers of PGD on the road side, vastly outnumber. Just thank your God and stop arguing the obvious.
I still stand on the fact that when applicants cant show academic or career progression with any intended program of study(PGD, masters and PhD), it raises questions. I am not arguing and its not the obvious because you have said it and believed it.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by mesh2003(f): 11:41pm On Aug 10, 2017
jnyuwa02:
Its not that they don't get approved. The bar for approval for PGD is very high to clear. For some reason, VO views it as not a very serious academic endeavor, so usually deny them for purpose of visit. I will encourage people to apply for a masters or PHD or undergraduate and run away from PGD.
I strongly disagree with "VO views it as not a very serious academic endeavor, so usually deny them for purpose of visit". If its seen as a not serious academic endeavor, then people like me wont be here and also someone I met on NL that is coming to Vancouver in 2 weeks. When applicants cant show academic or career progression with any intended program of study(PGD, masters and PhD), the purpose of visit arises.

Good day everyone, pls has there been a testimony of anyone that got visa with her children. I have 4 boys and heading for a phd that might take 4/5years. I have every genuine intention to return home in the long run but the truth remains I cannot concentrate if I am alone without my kids. I would worry endlessly. So better option is for husband to remain home in Nigeria as he has no desire to settle abroad and probably come visiting. If this is of any help I am a civil servant and will be on study leave.
So the question is; has there been any such approval? If yes pls what is the link so we can all learn cos most mothers I believe are in this dilemma.
Pls don't ask me to read from thread 1-10 as I have tried doing that but it ain't just easy. Cheers
My advice is that you apply alone. Your children will serve as a good home tie for you. All the Nigerians and Africans in my school left there kids back home. They are all here today. I also left my daughter and she just came last week after 2 years and 8 months. Canada is a country that doesn't play with family reunification. If you check the latest demographic report released last week or so, they are in need of families relocating. You can concentrate more when you are not with them and they will be your greatest source of motivation. A lady in Calgary left all her kids below 8 when she came for nursing. She got her PR which she included her family in. They are coming in this September. I know it wont be easy but I have always been an advocate of taking important decisions in life without emotions. Apply first and after 6 months you can bring them.

Hello all, good evening. For those who have travelled to canada on visit visas, how were you able to ship your foodstuffs (Palmoil,Garri, etc)? A friend of mine is going to Canada and USA on visit and needs a ''Genuine'' company who deals on shipping foodstuffs to enable them carry foodstuffs to the people hosting them while on visit. If you have any, kindly let me know. Thanks
I don't know anything about a shipping company to help but I will answer based on my personal experience. When I traveled to the US to have my daughter, I went with a box of foodstuff. Anything you can think off except oil. I declared to the last item what I was coming into the US with. The inspection officer removed all the indomie he could lay his hands on but my foodstuffs were left. I also think they is a limit of what you can take but am not sure. My mum travels to the US often and she goes with a lot of food stuff for her siblings . She told them she has a lot of relatives in the US and they need a lot of food. Never had a problem. So if your friend is genuinely going with foodstuffs for the hosts and not business, then he/she shouldn't worry. When I came to Canada, I was able to carry a lot of things though and they only thing they questioned was my original pure shea butter(ORI).

Hi mesh2003, timelines matter depending on an application. I know people whose GCMS notes specifically mentioned that. You may need to research on that. If you have a time dependent application and you missed the timeline due to application processing times, even if a VO is merciful and issues, the CBSA officer can still refuse entry. If this is a reunion of family/friends alongside whatever, the case is then different.
OK. Am just saying based on student visa applications that are approved after resumption date and family visit visa I guess. I think it might not apply to conferences or business meetings.

Please I had applied May 17th for a Canada visit Visa I have visited Canada before. I'm a frequent traveler so I had booked my ticket for August 12th already and visa still not yet out please what can I do because it's so expensive to change the date I'm traveling. please someone should give me an advise on what to do
In my case, I invited my mother who was leaving for the Uk. I sent an email pleading that they process her application with UK visa attached and flight itinerary. They responded and told me I would get a passport request the next day, which I did. So you can try and plead with them. No harm in trying.

The zeal to travel to Canada or out of Nigeria is always high especially when one has never gone before.

But once they step their foot out there, see and do all you always dreamed off...the urge to come back home immediately arises!

So leave all these people that claim they will never come back, Life will definitely happen and they will be among the first running back to Nigeria.

No matter how useless our leaders and APC have decided to become! There is no place like home! I wont lie to anyone!

Every Nigerian abroad prays for the day the country can get a bit better so that they can come back! If anyone doubts me, confirm when you reach Canada! wink
You should only say for yourself my dear. Home is wherever you make it to be and it mustn't be your place or country of birth. Everybody has a choice to choose where he/she will call home.

I don't think it's neccesary to state a relative because you'll indirectly loose your home tie and the VO might be on a *wavy level* thinking you wudnt return after completion of your studies...
Just my thoughts....
You are indirectly telling her/him to lie. Please you have to tell them that you have relatives if you are asked. To avoid misrepresentation.

Oh! Thank you plenty much, my dear! I don't want to carry plenty load on that day but I want to spend less. So, clothes are relatively cheaper in Canada then?
They are not necessarily cheaper. It all depends on the brand and where you are buying from. But my dear, the jeans we buy from yaba and Balogun market are still the bomb. They call it stock jeans. They don't relax even after wearing for years compared to what we get here. My friends still order from Nigeria whenever someone is coming.
