Politics / Re: No Muslim Governor In SW Nigeria. by MetaPhysical: 1:29pm On Jul 17, 2022
PHYTECH:
The rate of Religious sentiments on Nigeria, is of serious concern.

Osun state won a Christian-Christian ticket

When a presidential candidate picked a Muslim as his vice, the noise of Muslim-muslim ticket was everywhere. Today, Out of the 6 SW and SS/SE states. There is no single Muslim Governor, not even 1. While no one is even talking about this. This is absad state. Even in some states like Ondo state, there's barely a Muslim ssa, commissioner or director.

Even when it's obvious that muslims are majority in SW.

This is a call if concern to everyone and all hypocrites.

Please, we dont care in SW if all governors are Christian or all are Muslim. You people keep your sorry sense of religious entitlement out of our space.

APC no clinch any 15... Oga na 13

You are correct! APC won 13, not 15.

The errors came from counting the blue shaded cells. Irewole LG was entered twice in error, Ife North was shaded for both parties. I can't correct the table but I edited my analysis.

Thanks for pointing out.

PDP-SW are not happy with Atiku. Have you not seen what's going on in Oyo PDP?

PDP did not win Oyo because people liked them, they did so because people did not like Ajimobi...and they shut his candidate Adelabu out, in addition to denying Ajimobi"s run for Senate.

Laws differ by state on video/audio recording of persons in US. You can record in public space but in non-public places, like restaurant, home, inside vehicle, some states want you to first obtain consent of the target. In those consent states a target must first issue a warning and say I do not consent to being recorded, stop recording me. If the recording continues a law of privacy has been breached and target may press charges.

I expect a more landslide victory for adeleke. But we should not forget that osun is the home state of BAT and APC has been the stronghold.

The disagreement with aregbe is part of what gave victory to adeleke.
The future goes dimmer for APC in southwest. Thanks to fayoshe for destroying PDP chance in ekiti.
Let's see who wins Lagos and Ondo state. Ondo and Ogun is likely going to be APC but sanwo-olu the tinubu escort might find things difficult in Lagos.

Osun is the only state PDP is going to get in SW.

The table can also be used to advise outcomes in Executive vs Legislative relationship.

What Governor Adeleke can expect
1. Osun legislature has 26 seats, only 3 are PDP. It is APC controlled House of Assembly. I said earlier APC won 13 LGs out of 30 and that even though Oyetola is defeated, he still control a lot of popularity in the state. The members will seek re-election in 2023, after the general election has held and victory declared. Relationship between Governor Adeleke and House of Assembly is going to be a delicate dance. He should not alienate the members or antagonize them. As an executive, Governor Adeleke must demonstrate plenty leadership skills and have restraints. He will be provoked...but he must respond with diplomacy. His goal remains winning legislature to his side so that his victory can last and tenure long.

Based on who wins general election of 2023, Osun legislative members may find empowerement to remain in APC or defect to PDP in the short week before their own scheduled election holds.

Next I will use result from Osun to forecast what to expect in general election of 2023.

Here is data analysis of the table -

1. Overall, PDP beat APC by 24,380 votes.
2. PDP won EDE North by 14,328 difference.
3. PDP won EDE South by 13,734 difference.
4. APC clinched victory in 13 out of 30 LGs.

PDP's margin of victory came from Ede North and South, the hometown of its candidate, Adeleke.

This data show that the rest of Osun are yet to accept Adeleke. This election should have been a landslide for PDP but it wasn't...Oyetola is still very much popular.

Unless he listens to the people and take ownership of their issues, Adeleke would likely be a one term governor. In contrast if he brings himself to their level and deliver results he will grow his popularity and acceptance and is definite to outperform himself in a landslide in 2027.

frog12:
so who do you think was his preferred candidate ?

Buhari's hands were tied. He is a bold and fearless man but he also has boundaries that he does not cross.

1. Selecting Osinbajo ahead of Tinubu appealed to him but it was not a comfortable line for him to cross. Choosing Osinbajo will have a resounding impact APC-SW cannot recover from but will give tremendous victory for APC National to defeat PDP hands down. Buhari love the idea of winning with Osinbajo but he will leave plenty bodies on the battlefield doing so; he backed off.

2. GEJ was not his cup of tea, interest groups in the Arewa caucus were lobbying him to bring GEJ as successor. The lobbyists will return GEJ to administration, in return he will waive probing them and also allocate plum positions to keep them in continuity and access. Pretty much a godfather role. This option was the fastest route for Presidential turn to rotate back to North.

3. Rotimi Amaechi is favored by Arewa caucus because he is a suitable conduit for One Nigeria. As a governor he bankrolled Buhari's election. As a minister he deployed infrastructural solutions to North beyond expectations. It is not hard to imagine that Amaechi as a President would deliver more largesse. He will not place barriers between North and oil fields in Delta, thus further cementing the North/South economic partnership and One Nigeria.

These 3 were on his shortlist. I don't know who was the final pick on the day of primary.

this has got nothing to do with adeleke , i will even say he is a lucky man , he is just reaping the benefits of apc failure in the state and the nation as a whole . if pdp had presented any other candidate , that candidate would have won easily just like this and of pdp didn't contest this election , any other party with a good candidate would have won . people are just tire of apc at least so far in Osun state because they have demonstrated it glaringly

Is this not a replay of Oyo?

Makinde was a political non-entity where Ajimobi stood but the mighty Ajimobi establishment was disgraced by the people.

Makinde did not win Oyo, the people did. Makinde just happened to be the next person to try and see if we get it right.

Very likely Osun will end same way today with Adeleke.

It is reflected in my last lengthy post....why do we keep trying next guy and regretting it four years later? Reactive politics is damaging to society. Should we not proactively have set of calibrated models to weed out non-merit candidates long before primary and even election day?

Politics / Re: Why I Didn’t Anoint Osinbajo Or Any APC Presidential Aspirant – Buhari by MetaPhysical: 5:34pm On Jul 16, 2022
bennybuhari:
The President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has opened up on why he was neutral and allowed delegates to vote for their preferred presidential candidate during the All Progressives Congress’ special convention and presidential primary.

The President opened up on what transpired during the buildup to the party’s convention on Saturday in Katsina when he paid a Sallah visit to the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumin Usman Kabir, at his palace.

Speaking on what played out before the emergence of the party’s flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, Buhari explained that the delegates were given a free hand to pick him (Tinubu) in demonstrating the internal democracy in the party.

According to him, party leaders initially gave me a list of thirty presidential aspirants, out of which I was asked to pick a candidate of my choice.

The President said rather than pick or anoint a candidate, he allowed the delegates to pick the candidate of their choice which resulted in the emergence of Tinubu.

Buhari, who spoke in Hausa, said, “I was given a list of thirty (30) aspirants to pick from. Most of them were my ministers and governors. So, who will I choose or support?

“One of the governors even came to see me and asked who are we to choose.

“If I do that, it would affect my Vice President because he was listening to our conversation. I then told them to choose who they want.

“So, they elected Tinubu as APC presidential candidate.”

https://punchng.com/why-i-didnt-anoint-any-presidential-aspirant-buhari/

Buhari is lying to his Emir.

He had a preferred choice and it was not Tinubu and was not Ahmed Lawan. He had planned to bring his preferred candidate out on primary day in similar fashion that Adamu was announced as Chairman but Tinubu had planted Sanwoolu and some people into ongoing progressive governors meeting to erupt chaos if it came down to it and destabilize the Arewa plan. Tinubu also had successfully infiltrated the impenetrable Arewa caucus in the NWC. Ahmed Lawan was a smokescreen, he wasn't Buhari's choice. By announcing Ahmed Lawan they wanted Southerners to react, a second announcement from the President himself would then cancel Adamu's announcement of Lawan and throw a curveball in the responses coming from South. SS and SE will accommodate Buhari choice but SW will be singled out as trouble maker, particularly following the Emi L'okan speech in Abeokuta. Buhari's choice will receive stamp of authentication and be the flag bearer. It's a smart attempt at divide & rule.

Adamu fulfilled his role in the plot. Progressive governors, led by Tinubu implants rebelled but their Northern peers begged to be allowed to approach Buhari to straighten things out. This is why it looked like their intervention saved the day. That was not the case. Buhari did not achieve his intended end goal because Tinubu representatives dismantled their plot before it had become public.

At the end of this exercise we all must accept outcome of this election. The people of Osun have decided who will govern them in next four years. We should respect the choice they made and not ridicule or denigrate their decisions.

Personally for me it is painful that we experiment every four years to test a candidate and at end of that term we are worse off with him than with his predecessor. In Osun, that was the case with Akande, with Aregbe, now people are condemning Oyetola and asking for Adeleke.....four years from now same people will condemn him. Why don't we have a template for succession between governments? So that we accept the seat as a sacred position that is bigger than its occupants and individuals seeking to occupy the seat must prove themselves far above its value. This will force parties to scout for achievers to carry their flag and compete for votes. It should not be about party or individual, the seat belong to the people and it is sacred...it cannot be bought or tarnished.

A candidate seeking to be councillor must be qualified at level of a Senator. A Senator must qualify at the level of a President. A Governor must qualify at the performance level of a President. A Presidential candidate must qualify at the level of a multi national CEO. We need to calibrate a model that protects the sanctity of public office. At the current cycle, twenty two years after we began this phase, we have reduced all aspects of Nigerian democracy to commodities....sold to highest bidder.

It is very sad that money was not available to pay staffers and provide quality and consistent education to University students but there is abundant funds available to pay the grounded students to sell away their democratic choices & rights.

I am disengaged in the Nigerian citizenship, Yoruba Nation is on my mind.

If it's not written on return report it is not official and should be discounted.

All the people typing results are not qualified to report and opens room for error and cheating.

Keep the thread clean. Anyone with good and authentic info should take screen shot of return and post. No other return format is acceptable.
