Jubilation is deserved to support Adelek as incoming governor in Osun. Don't overdo it and polarize the people of Osun against one another. Don't arouse passions and envy.

Continue to celebrate his win without mocking and jeering the opposition, APC.

I have seen some posts online that went too far.

Winning the governorship is just a step. After taking oath, and when the cheers and jeers have died down and everyone went about their business, this man has to work with a house of assembly in which his party PDP has only 3 members. The remaining 23 members are APC.

We pray for Osun and wish incoming Governor a healthy and conducive partnership with state legislatures. Amen!

Video and audio recordings are entirely different things so do not lump them together.
Here we are actually talking about video recording and I do not believe there is any such law anywhere in the US

I think I remember in an old thread saying I would stop responding to you in Nairaland. You do not apply critical thinking in your responses.

You are often easily distracted by technicalities and you wander off in a different branch altogether.

Whether I say video/audio or I say electronic recording devices or even use camera and microphone recording, to a reasonable person the communication is clear. But to you, it must be clarified if its wireless or wired device. You want to know if it was hand held or on tripod. Was it sony or panasonic.

This is not a forensic class abeg.

Just because the court say Tinubu's money should be confiscated does not in any way portray guilt or crime.

This court record is from early 90s. In that time period and even till recently blacks that lived in exclusive neighborhoods with plush apartments, drove luxury cars or have plenty bank balances were profiled and automatically flagged for criminal activity.

If it were possible to open file on the IRS investigator, K Morris, and go through all his surveillance cases, arrest cases, prosecution cases and witnessing on stand, we will find them to be biased against blacks.

Blacks did not bring drugs into United States in 93. They turn away from the importers who are exclusively whites...and target blacks on street retailing and buying.

You cant accuse a person of drug trafficking because he has huge balance in account. That's insufficient probable cause.

Was drug found on Tinubu?
Was he ever arrested distributing drugs?

His crime is that he had huge amount of money in bank. In a racially tilted justice system as the society was back in 1993, a black person could not legitimately earn or raise $50,000, much more half a million dollars...there had to be some illegal activity involved. They did not find any illegality to indict him but still confiscated the money anyway.

If that had been in the 60s and with that kind of money they racial justice system would have convicted him of bankrolling communism or black panther with goal to overthrow government.

If this seizure was about drug, where is the drug charge?

In states like California it is simply illegal to record video/audio without first warning the target that they are being recorded. This was put in place to restrict paparazzi madness. On the marketing side, it also protected consumers against debt collectors.

I dont know what state Aregbe was in but it doesn't matter, fhat recorder was wrong.

The space inside of a restaurant is a private space and you need consent to record a guest in there. But if you start a recording without first obtaining consent and the target says "stop", if you don't you have violated them.

There are many privacy rights that overlap in America. Since this incident occurred in a restaurant I will use it to highlight the rights of a paying guest.

Picture it the same way you will use a license on a computer in a public library. They warn you not to copy or distribute without consent...but we all copy and distribute anyway, and nothing happens. Correct? How many times have you obtained permission from Microsoft before you share an excel file or a word document composed in a library? A licensing company can choose to prosecute for copying and distributing their material without consent, but they don't because it is not cost effective. That does not mean we have rights to do whatever we want because the computer is in a public library.

A restaurant can claim rights to proprietary ownerships like for instance, recipe. What this means is that they offer a cuisine for people that desire it in exchange for a price. That's what I meant by paying guest. If you are not there to sit down and enjoy the cuisine, what is your business inconveniencing those that are guests? What is that guy doing there? This is nuisance, trespass together.

It is important to know that Aregbe invited him, he turned the invitation down. At that point he had no business recording a guest. If he had accepted the invitation to sit he could use the argument that he was in there on invitation.

Aregbe can press charges and the restaurant can sue him.

I swear to God, I can't understand it. Many people are pigs. The sweat, the fluids...everything is just yucky and must be washed off and the body refreshed.

There is need for ballot education and the political process in Nigeria on Nairaland Politics Section.

This platform is a huge congregation point in election cycles and many people are still deficient in political literacy and how INEC and the Parties conduct election and voting exercise.

It has been told thousands of times that candidates name do not appear on ballot papers, yet we still see posts asking if people will vote Obi on ballot, or vote Atiku or Tinubu on ballot.

Such posts ought to be closed and referenced back to a Ballot Education flyer in Nairaland (we need such).

People vote for parties on ballot paper. The candidates are nothing more than contractors or partners in proxy. Obi's name will never appear on ballot, instead LP name and logo will be on ballot. Illiterates will enter polling booth and get confused because they can't find Obi on ballot, and then flip a coin, head or tail, and then vote opposition party.

Same for APC and PDP, Tinubu and Atiku will never be found on ballot. Infact the ballot does not know who they are.

The big fish for APC is general election. In Osun, APC control the house of assembly, so they have a lot of power to get things done their way. At the Presidency level however, loosing the seat is loss of power completely.

Their reaction in Osun is understandable. Everybody has jubilated that APC lost Osun "fairly"....no one has complained of rigging. It will be expected that if they win general election they should be seen as a fair player...and no one should have right to complain of rigging.

This is a political intrigue, nothing surprising. Even Buhari has sent congratulatory message. Tinubu has drafted a Congratulatory message for Adeleke but waiting on Oyetola to first concede before it is published.

Aregbe is not on public street, he is a host in a private restaurant. Laws of privacy extends to the space in that restaurant. By recording him in that restaurant over meal is no different than recording him withdrawing cash in a bank lobby, or in a medical facility receiving injection. Clear violations of law of privacy rights. The recorder overstepped the American freedom rights of privacy. While claiming freedom to do anything you want that freedom stops when you impinge on the freedom of others....as in the case of Aregbe, freedom to enjoy his meal in private.

Aregbe should teach lesson to this freak and press charges against him in America so lawyers there can teach him how to properly exercise his freedom, both in public and in private spaces.

Osun is probably a Muslim majority state, and the Local Govts that voted Adeleke are also Muslim dominated parts, but we don't consider that rubbish amongst ourselves in Yorùbá land

For me, as a Christian Yoruba, I am an Omoluabi first and foremost, which means discrimination on petty sentiments, is not our thing.
