Nnamebuka:
I'd said this previously in one of the thread but let me repeat it:

One would expect President Buhari to deepen the free, fair and credible election that Jonathan bequeathed to him. It is really disappointing that after the widely acclaimed free, fair and credible election that brought him to power the rest of the election under him has been anything but free, fair and credible.

Integrity must have a different meaning since his assumption of office.
Jonathan bequeathed Rivers and Ekiti. You want Buhari to deepen that. Is that what you said?

You all are reading the outcome in Kogi wrong. Why didnt violence and deaths break out in Bayelsa? You all call yourselves political analysts but too lazy to analyze inputs. Why did one state conduct peaceful election and the other one end in violence and deaths? It is not Buhari....it is local politics. What attributes in that local election cause the violent eruption? This is what you should enquire.

stop fooling yourself we all know the heads behind this reckless killings. 10billion did wonders in kogi. Now yahaya bello is decleared winner how do he retrieve those arm frm his political miscreanthuh Watch as insecurity tripple in kogi
Thats the problem thats been lingering and PDP supporters hailed Dino and his foolishness with evading law and violating law. Both sides accused each other of arming thugs. This problem could have been prevented much much earlier on but it wasn't. PDP leaders looked on and praised Dino as he repeatedly made fool of himself and local politics.

It is always wrong when politics end in deaths and injuries but we should stop getting alarmed because our attitudes and reactions to the warnings is to praise and hail, no one calls for control or hail and praise police for arresting flagrant lawmakers. We need change in attitude to law enforcement so our politics and elections can have some measure of sanity and peace.

We must support govt. The problem here is not govt the issue is polarization in Kogi. Was there no election in Bayelsa ni, why this kind thing no happen there?

Kogi is very polarized. Dino is not a politician, he is an educated thug, he has not hidden this from us in all his dramas since his first election into NASS.

When NASS members were locked out of Assembly in 2014, Dino was the first Representative to climb over the fence and others followed him...in that open fracas he got in fist fight and had his clothes shredded.

After he got in Senate he had not dropped his thuggism...he told a fellow Senator he would rape her. PDP fans celebrated him and applauded him. So he became more confident and rooted in his dramatic tantrums.

When police went to get him he jumped out of van. At one point he said he ran to a tree and hid on top tree to evade police arrest. A lawmaker telling the public with pride that he evaded enforcement of law. Then police went to his house to arrest him again for failure to show in court he hid in the house and announced via twitter that he was in Kogi and he was watching them via his security camera feed as they laid siege to his home in Abuja, this was another offense of resisting arrest and evading law. The police refused to buy his story and stayed put. They cut electricity to the house and forbid anyone to turn on generator. Few days later Dino emerged from the same house he reported falsely that he was not in. His supporters and PDP followers hailed him.

Well...here we are, people are dying for Dino's foolishness, and PDP is blaming opposition. Why are people not killed wantonly in Bayelsa where APC also won the election as they did Kogi?

PDPs accusation of rigged election is unacceptable, they were not at home and on the ground to promote and win voters support for their candidates in both States. Absence of opposition party leadership is a worse act of negligence than election tampering by ruling party.

you might be right about yorubas attacking yorubas but igbos have witnessed such attacks from the North and igbos who did not have a plan B lost everything including their lives with no arrests or justice coming their way , while praying that peace reign in the whole country , igbos will deem it wise to have a second plan more like a spare tyre should the first plan now worl according to plan
Hausas kill each other for politics as well. Fulanis kill each other for politics. Are you in Nigeria at all? You have never heard of Northerners laying siege to a neighborhood in their own walled city and almost wiping out whole place because they refuse to support a particular political candidate?

Of course, Plan B is always good to have.

UdechiHD:
Such would have been possible had we still had the regions. But regions don't exist anymore.
The SE leaders who supported the NEDC for the NE feel that a commission that will address the post civil war neglect in Igboland should also be formed too. One good thing about the Odua group is it comprise, the Western region after the Midwest was created. It has always served the Yoruba's.
Unlike the Eastern region whose assets where not equitably shared amongst the old east before the civil war. Up till now, no consensus has come up to do so. Every SE state plus Rivers and Crossrivers now independently owns any post war surviving asset domiciled in their area that was once owned by the eastern regional government. The federal government I must confess helped in this disorderliness.
Now, the reason why the IPOB apologist are gaining ground in the SE is because of the infrastructural neglect the east suffered post civil war. The SE has a right to this claim and such commission will foster a sense of belonging in the minds of our people.
I am not sure you read my post earlier about a military tradition of executing leaderships of rebellion and civil wars.

You had no right to anything...Gowon and Awolowo were more than gracious to return to you what you got and also for breaking tradition with global Best Practice to execute your leadership. Are you blind to military coups in Nigeria? What do they do to failed plotters? You were very lucky indeed!

Rights and equities in Nigeria is fluid. Ijaws were heavily grieved and used militancy to disrupt the political landscape. If it wasn't for Obasanjo Jonathan would never had become a VP, much more a President. But since then Ijaw see themselves in a different political limelight than previously. This is the power of ethnocracy. Fulani is a demographic minority but military self-interest catapulted them into political power and now they view themselves differently. Igbo must find its own magic route to power so you can view yourselves differently. The militancy that worked for others may not work for you. The political intrigues that works successfully for Yoruba may not work for you. The military hierarchy advantage that worked for Fulani may not work for you. You have to find your own comparative advantage that will get you into power and with an outcome that secures your equitable hold into the future, past your reign as President.

Biafra will work against you, not in your favor. Your rights is not more trampled than anyone else's....they are bold and daring to do what you are unprepared, or negligent to do.

Yahaya Bello is an APC endorsed candidate, all APC stakeholders are in support of him in Kogi but in Bayelsa it a different ⚽️.

The Lyon that won in Bayelsa just defected from PDP to APC last year. Are you sure he will not defect back to PDP after his swearing in.
These are all beside the point. A party Presidential Candidate must know which States are critical to victories and expend resource and time to show presence and influence. This is how Jagaban got to where he is now....he has never been Presidential Candidate of any party but never under-estimated his opponents or trusted his victories to local candidates. He got up and made the trip, showed up and gave support. Even in elections he lost...his credibility as an asset was never doubted. He lost his candidacy in Ondo to Akeredolu but when Akeredolu got in trouble guess who he went to call...Tinubu! Because he knew no one can sell him for a re-election like Tinubu.

By coming to Kogi and Bayelsa, Atiku and Obi will start to build resume of accomplishments and lessons learnt towards 2023.

i only picked an article written in vanguard and posted on Nairaland , i forgot to put disclaimer , i am of the opinion that igbos should keep their minds open and put on their thinking cap, if Nigeria , africa's soviet union survives the post oil era , then good and fine , if it does not then igbos have a back up plan .

Igbos should never be found with out a plan B as it happened in 1960, Nigeria is not yet defined, during the presidential elections of 2011, 2015, and 2019 we all saw how igbos were attacked in the north and lagos with lives and properties destroyed , igbos should have a plan B and a pay back plan for any eventuality
The attack in Lagos is not unique to Igbo.
In 1964, 1979, 1983, Yorubas killed each other over political turfs.

Politics in Nigeria is interwoven with violence and fatality, it knows no brother and is all about camps. Yorubas can share many stories with you of brothers with same parental roots violently attacking each other and ending in hospitals over politics.

Gowon declared 'No victor No vanquished'. Everyone was forgiven. However the 3R wasn't really carried out in the east after the war.
This is why Stella Oduah is bringing it up now. Nigerians need to support the SEDC in order to foster unity and true reconciliation in the SE.
I would love SE to create and self manage its own Development Commission and not accept one from FG. Any Development Commission funded by FG remain a national institution even though it carries a regional identity. Every State in SW is a equity partner in Oodua Investment Corporation. OIC is in top 3 wealthiest Corporations in Nigeria. SE can do same. You can syndicate importation of goods designated for SE, you can also syndicate distribution of goods to Igbo retail markets around Nigeria, West Africa and SA. A self-managed SE Investment Corp can do all that and invest capital development in each SE State to boost employment, production and revenue. Go and look at OIC market footprints, Yoruba did not wait for FG to give it a SWDC, it raised its own independently.

Stella Oduah's efforts should be praised in that regard but do you want to wait for handouts from FG in order to grow?

Nothing like Biafra. It died in 1970!
Alex Ekwueme was Vice Presdent 10 years after the civil war. Our father, Ojukwu contested election for Presidency and was given a national burial when he died.
Kanu, Onwuaka and Uwazuruike and all upcoming fake freedom fighter are all enemies of Ndigbo. They are political drawback to Ndigbo in Nigeria. What the Igbo's want is Presidency, 6 states to be at par with other zones, fairness, justice and other inputs that the National conference report highlighted.
Thank you jare!

To Biafran warlords...
All over the world, when a civil war ends, the leadership of the loosing rebellion are court marshaled, found guilty, sentenced to death and summarily executed. The rebel group is also financially obligated to reparate the victor for its war costs and losses. This is the practice...a military tradition adhered to around the globe.

In Nigeria, we were an exception to the rule. Biafran leadership were reabsorbed into military and then retired, with gratuities as if they had never commited any crime against the Sovereingty. Those in civil service were reabsorbed and returned to their wage scale.
As already mentioned, an Igboman became second in command of the Sovereingty in less than ten years after the war. Igbos properties and markets were returned to them and your liberty to work and earn was never censored afterward.

Now you want to risk it all and return to rebellion. You will loose again....but your leaders this time around will all be executed and there will be no placard reading "No Victor, No Vanquished"!

Get sense...
