Politics › 2023: Political Market - The Bayelsa Case by MetaPhysical(op): 3:11am On Nov 20, 2019
May he live long and in wellness! ...when Baba Obasanjo passes, who are the eligible candidates to fill his political shoes? They need to be identified while Baba is still around.

Many have wondered what GEJ has been doing since leaving government, what his legacy would be and whether or not he is able to redeem his image from the prodigal Presidency he led. GEJ once called OBJ the godfather of godfathers, the boss of bosses! This is true! No past Nigerian leader has attained the notoriety that follows Obasanjo, whether in military, as a political figure or even as a private citizen. None of the heavy weights thrown in prison by Abacha came out alive but OBJ did....more than that, OBJ survived Abacha! When we look outside our shores, no African leader, from North Africa to South Africa, from West to East and the Central, commands as much credibility and trust with foreign governments as Baba OBJ. Can GEJ be our next political OBJ? If he has what it takes it was not demonstrated during his rule as President, but what happened in Bayelsa's 2019 Governorship election is an outcome that is potent with many interpretations. What is GEJ doing?

We Yoruba call it displacement in the political market. Let me describe it.

I have 5million ordinary shares of Yam Flour Inc (Amala) grin Cassava Mills Inc is competing with Yam to dominate market share for grains and mills, so it offers 50million ordinary shares to raise capital and expand production. I quickly buy 35million of the 50 and hold on to it for two years. Third year, I dumped all 35million and flooded the market. The supply will overwhelm demand, and so naturally price falls rapidly. 15million of those shares is out there somewhere in private hands. Panic hits the Cassava Mill shares and the 15million plus many more previously invested were further dumped by their owners to further plummet value and confidence in Cassava Mill. In this scenario my interest is the success of Yam Flour but I want to displace Cassava and make it fail so I can monopolize market and price in future. I first gave Cassava a short term market boost ahead of my market (Yam) equity....three years later I unleashed strategy and displaced Cassava from market domination.

In advanced countries government usually put in place a trade protection policy that caps how much of capital (real estate, gold, corporate stocks) foreigners can hold.

Could GEJ's action be taken as a pro-APC stance? Not so fast! grin I return to OBJ and his pandora bag of tricks. OBJ wanted to blanket SW with PDP. The first thing he did was to sleep in same bed with Governors in AD. He first gave them victory ahead of his own party PDP...and then came from behind to displace them and put in their place PDP Governors. Tinubu was the only survivor!

Displacement is nature's way of crowning new rulers and empires. Those who perfect the art of displacement rule the political market. GEJ has earned his first displacement in Bayelsa, and it is very meaningful as well as very strategic for the political shift in 2023. Could he anoint who will be PDPs next flag bearer...and score more displacements between now and 2023?

We shall see....a new Lion King is in the making!

Politics › Re: Lyon's Victory And An Imaginary Political Alliance Between The SS/SW by MetaPhysical: 1:14am On Nov 20, 2019
PassingShot:
Let me educate you why it seems so:

1. Bayelsa state is a core SS state in the league of Rivers and Delta states. A state like other core SS states where APC had no foothold in as recently as 2018 - not until 2019 when we started seeing some presence of APC there.
3. Bayelsa state is the home state of the last president produced by PDP. The state and the region have been hostile to APC as a result of GEJ's/PDP's loss of the presidency.

3. That GEJ abandoned PDP in Bayelsa state and showed support (or being indifferent of the contest, at least) is an indication that he has moved on despite his loss and what his wife is going through with EFCC.

4. Winning Bayelsa state gives a lot of confidence and hope to APC for other states in the region and for 2023 general elections. Such victory will surely boost their performance in that state and in the SS region entirely.

5. Surely, if GEJ/PEJ could support APC which sent them packing from Aso Rock, it means the entire Niger Delta which is their primary constituency can move on and be less hostile to APC or even embrace the party more.

6. With what played out in Bayelsa, APC's headache of worrying about SE has been reduced greatly. It's now much more easier for APC to ignore SE and their emotional blackmail and focuse more on the SS with appointments and inclusiveness. That way, SE becomes less relevant in the scheme of things since APC will now have strong footings in NW, NE, NC, SW and SS. Surely, that's a huge competitive advantage over PDP which can only boast of strength in SE and SS (now diminished) with not-so huge following in other four regions.

There are more implications but these ones should educate you already.

Lol, seems we are the only people that understand the Igbos. Their ideology has not changed since 1958.

This is their Mantra in politics:
"In as much as a Yoruba man does not have it, then we are fine"

That is exactly why they have lived their life in competition and comparison with the Yorubas and the reason why they need a validation from the Yorubas to recognize their success before they can celebrate it. They are only successful when they benchmark it with the Yoruba success.

Their urge to antagonize Yoruba presidency far outweighs their determination to rule!

Politics › Re: President Buhari Honours Bashir Abubakar And Josephine Ugwu (Photos) by MetaPhysical: 8:33pm On Nov 19, 2019
Alimani:
President Buhari has presented Integrity awards to two public servants, Bashir Abubakar and Mrs Josephine Ugwu of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, for exhibiting Integrity in the performance of their official duties.

Buhari presented the awards to the recipients at the opening of the two-day National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in Public Sector held at the State House Banquet hall, Abuja.

The event is being organized by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in collaboration with Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).

The Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Abubakar rejected 412,000 dollars (N150 million) bribe offered to him by drug traffickers to import 40 containers laden with Tramadol, a controlled and highly addictive drug.

Ugwu, a former cleaner at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos had on different occasions returned millions of naira found in the course of her duty, including the sum of N12 million dollars forgotten in the toilet by an airport user.

Speaking at the event, Buhari stressed the need for Nigerians to uphold the traditionally cherished values of honesty and integrity.

‘‘Let me again note with concern the need to uphold the values of loyalty, honesty, trust, and integrity that were once cherished in our public service. Ethics and integrity are the foundation of an enduring society.

‘‘Nigerian culture does not tolerate dishonesty. Therefore, we must reclaim our traditional values of honesty, integrity and hard work. In spite of the few bad eggs, I am delighted that many Nigerians still hold on to our traditionally cherished values of honesty and integrity,” he said.

Buhari called on the National Assembly to fast-track the passage of the Special Crimes Court Bill. He also urged the judiciary to embrace and support the creation of the Special Crimes Court.

He said: ‘‘the fight against corruption is of course not only for government and anti-corruption agencies alone. All arms and tiers of government must develop and implement the anti-corruption measures. I invite the legislative and judicial arms of government to embrace and support the creation of Special Crimes Court that Nigerians have been agitating for to handle corruption cases.’’

President Buhari noted that the passage of the Bill was a ‘‘specific priority’’ of this administration’s Economic Recovery & Growth Plan 2017-2020. The President also used the occasion, which marked the launch of the Constituency Projects Transparency Group (CPTG) Report Phase One, to reiterate his appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians to join in the fight against corruption.

‘‘The war against corruption cannot be won without prevention, enforcement, public education and enlightenment. I encourage the ICPC and other law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts in public education, enlightenment and engagement with citizens.

‘‘I also urge our development partners, civil society organizations, and the media to continue to support our efforts to strengthen ethical values and integrity in Nigeria,’’ he said.

Its fair my brother! If I have 10 children and send 1 to you to live. Im sure you are not going to ask me for any aid. If I send 2 you probably still not going to bother.

When im sending 4, 5.....if I have shame i should not wait for you to ask...i should begin sending support for my responsibilities in your care.

You are obligated to demand it if I failed to show propriety and forward an aid to support my 5 children under your care.

SE is almost empty! We witnessed the demography during election. They have the least registered voters as well. Meanwhile Yorubaland is bursting with Ibo population and making quality of life difficult for the indigenes.

So if leaders in SE have no shame to intervene, our generation will not have shame to force their hand through statutory taxation and get that money due to us to maintain the Ibos on our lands.

We are willing to show them a way to recover their region and revamp it and make it habitable so their fleeing children will stay home. If they care to listen.... They will either get the message, or they will make us rich in their obstinacy.

I have always looked out for avenues through which Igbo can reinvent itself. Even my calling for a revision of the topic is also an advocacy along that line.

Imagine if everytime Yoruba relate on national issues we reduce it to a reference on Oduduwa Republic. Thats just not a way to progress.

Biafra has its place in your conscience and your history and aspirations but dont bug your future in the national contract to the cause of Biafra.....otherwise you isolate yourself and also project risks where everyone view you as a burden. ....but you want to be viewed as an asset.

Come to the table with values the nation can relate with. Biafra is defunct and the nation has no use for it. Keep it with you in SE....dont inject it into border closure, a national arena. Beside, does Biafra have international border? Change the topic.
