CrimeKidnapped Victim Recounts Ordeal, Praises Abia Police For Timely Rescue (Video) by Metrix147(op): 2:07pm On Mar 16, 2025
One of the four kidnapped victims rescued by the Abia State Police Command has shared a chilling account of their harrowing experience in captivity and the dramatic rescue operation that brought them to safety, ABN TV reports.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbpKjSi0bIs

Narrating his ordeal, the victim revealed that he and his friends were on their way to drop off a companion when they were ambushed by kidnappers along New Umuahia Road, Obingwa. Unknown to them, the assailants had already abducted another victim nearby and seized his car.

"They had already kidnapped my friend in front of his house and taken his car. They drove around for over two hours before forcing us into the vehicle and taking us to an unknown destination," the victim recalled.

For five agonizing days—from Sunday to Friday—the captives were held in a small, cramped room, deprived of basic necessities. The kidnappers confiscated their phones and forced some of them to transfer money while also contacting their families to demand ransom.

"There was nothing to eat, nothing at all. They took our phones and reached out to our families for ransom," he narrated.

However, hope was restored on Friday afternoon when the victims heard gunshots—signaling the arrival of police operatives.

"We had prayed for help, and suddenly, we heard gunfire. The kidnappers started shooting, but by the special grace of God, the Nigerian Police intervened. The officers engaged them in a gun battle and broke into the room where we were kept. That was how we were saved," the victim recounted with relief.

The victim also disclosed that while in captivity, they heard voices, including those of children, suggesting that the kidnappers may have been operating within a residential area.

Governor Otti made the announcement on Saturday during a world press conference at the Banquet Hall of the Abia State Government House. Speaking alongside the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, the Governor declared that his administration would not tolerate buildings or individuals linked to criminal activities in the state.

“I instructed earlier today that the bungalow in Osokwa, Osisioma Local Government Area, be completely demolished. We will also identify and prosecute the owner of the building,” Governor Otti stated.

He further directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Uzor Nwachukwu, to engage the Traditional Ruler of Osokwa Community to explain how such a criminal operation could take place within his domain without his knowledge.

Commending the Abia State Police Command for its swift and decisive action, Governor Otti praised CP Danladi Isa and his tactical team for their bravery in rescuing the victims and neutralizing six kidnappers.

“We have made it clear that no part of Abia will be ceded to criminals. On behalf of the Abia State Government, I thank you,” the Governor said.

He also hinted at a financial reward for the officers involved in the operation, revealing, “I have already whispered to the CP that a financial reward awaits you.”

Providing details of the operation, CP Danladi Isa explained that the incident began on March 9, when four men were kidnapped along Umuahia New Road in Obingwa by unknown gunmen.

“Our tactical team immediately swung into action, utilizing our technology to track the kidnappers’ location in Osisioma,” CP Isa stated.

“Yesterday, we moved in and encountered them in a fierce gun battle. Despite being under intense fire, our tactical team successfully rescued the victims and neutralized six of the kidnappers.”

CrimePolice Invade De Latinos In Abia Over Suya Entry Rule, Many Injured (Video) by Metrix147(op): 6:44am On Mar 10, 2025
A violent police invasion at De Latinos Concept, one of the biggest entertainment and hospitality companies in the South East, on Sunday night, March 9, 2025, left several people injured and properties worth millions destroyed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrbJn6Z8lAI
The incident, which was reportedly triggered by a disagreement over suya meat, escalated into a full-blown attack on the establishment.

Speaking with ABN TV, the CEO of De Latinos, Mr. Emmanuel Okenini, popularly known as Bello, narrated how the incident unfolded. He stated that the trouble started around 9:15 PM when a police officer in Mufti attempted to enter the De Latinos premises with suya meat. The company, which has a strict policy against bringing in outside food and drinks, denied him entry. Despite being repeatedly informed of this rule by the bouncers, the officer insisted on gaining access with the suya meats.

Frustrated by the refusal, the officer allegedly called for reinforcements. Soon after, a group of armed police officers, accompanied by some soldiers, stormed the premises. In the chaos that followed, one of the bouncers was severely beaten and forcibly taken away in a police vehicle, bleeding heavily.

The situation escalated further around 10 PM when another officer, a female police officer, arrived at the premises with her family, also carrying suya meat. When she was also denied entry, another wave of police officers arrived, this time in three to four pickup trucks, surrounding the entire De Latinos premises.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, as police officers fired tear gas into the area, causing panic among customers and staff. Officers allegedly threatened everyone to leave immediately or face more consequences, forcing people to flee in fear.

Many victims, including asthmatic patients, were severely affected by the excessive use of tear gas, with over 10 people rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia for emergency treatment.

One of the victims, who barely escaped, shared their harrowing experience: "I was a victim, like I almost lost my sight and life. How can you throw tear gas, putting the lives of innocent citizens at risk? Abia State government should call all officers to order. This is the height of it. My whole body was covered [in tear gas], if not for Good Samaritans that rushed to rescue me, what would have been my fate?"

As the biggest entertainment and hospitality brand in the South East, De Latinos Concept suffered huge financial losses from the attack. According to Mr. Okenini, the police invasion led to customers fleeing in panic, leaving behind unpaid bills for food, drinks, and other services. He estimated the loss to be in the millions of naira.

CrimePastor Uche Jailed 10 Years For Defiling 4-year-old Girl In Abia by Metrix147(op): 2:06pm On Mar 08, 2025
A Magistrate Court in Umuahia North Magisterial District has sentenced Pastor Uche Arua Kalu, 40, to 10 years imprisonment without an option of fine for defiling a 4-year-old girl in Amaogudu Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzr3NLYeFQg
The judgment was delivered on Friday, March 7, 2025, by His Worship Onuoha U.C. (Miss) after the defendant pleaded guilty to the crime.

During the hearing, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), ASP Iweajunwa, was called upon to present the facts of the case. However, the defendant, Pastor Uche Arua Kalu, denied knowing what he was being accused of, contradicting his earlier guilty plea on December 20, 2024.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Chinedu Ikpa Esq., from the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Umuahia, reminded the court that the defendant had already confessed in the charge sheet, admitting that he had no idea what came over him when he committed the grievous crime.

In a desperate plea for leniency, the defendant fell to his knees, begging the court for mercy and a reduced sentence. He expressed fears of facing life imprisonment under Section 7(1)(2) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law 2019, under which he was charged.

The prosecution presented undeniable evidence against the accused, including his own confession and the IPO’s investigative report. Citing the case of Uket v. The State (2024) LPELR – 80009 (CA), the prosecution emphasized that for a defilement case to be proven, three key elements must be established:

Recall that Mrs. Ugo Enyinnaya, the mother of the victim, first exposed the case on the popular podcast show "Talk Make I Talk" with Fakzy. She publicly narrated how Pastor Uche Arua Kalu lured her daughter under false pretenses, defiled her, and then bribed her with snacks to keep silent. Her revelation on the podcast brought widespread attention to the case and intensified the demand for justice.

The ruling has been met with mixed reactions. While many have praised the court for delivering justice, some argue that the sentence should have been more severe, given the trauma inflicted on the child.

PoliticsSen Kalu Pays Courtesy Visit To President Tinubu by Metrix147(op): 11:54pm On Mar 06, 2025
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has confirmed a friendly visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The former Abia State governor shared the update on his official Facebook page, stating:

"Tonight, I paid a friendly visit to the working President, H.E. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR."

While details of their discussion were not disclosed, the meeting has sparked political conversations, given Kalu's influential role in national politics and his history of close ties with the president.

Political analysts suggest that such visits often serve as platforms for key consultations on national issues, party affairs, and regional development. As a senior member of the Senate and a key figure in the ruling party, Kalu's engagement with President Tinubu may have touched on pressing political and economic matters, including governance strategies, security challenges, and infrastructural development in the Southeast.

However, when an ABN TV correspondent reached out to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu via phone to inquire about the visit, he reaffirmed that it was purely a friendly courtesy call and nothing more.

"It was just a friendly visit, nothing more," Kalu clarified.

Senator Kalu, known for his strong advocacy for national unity and economic reforms, has consistently engaged with top government officials on issues concerning his constituents and the nation at large. CrimeMother Accuses Pastor Of Defilling Her 4-Year-Old Daughter In Abia (Video) by Metrix147(op): 5:59pm On Mar 06, 2025
A heartbreaking case of child defilement has surfaced in Amaogudu Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, as a woman, Mrs. Ugo Enyinnaya, has raised alarm over the alleged assault of her 4-year-old daughter, Miss Chidera, by a man identified as Pastor Uche Arua, ABN TV reports.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bv7g5zQRTM

Speaking on the podcast show "Talk Make I Talk" with Fakzy on Thursday 6th March 2024, Mrs. Enyinnaya recounted how the accused, a teacher at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, allegedly lured her daughter to his house and violated her on October 24, 2024.

According to her, the suspect had claimed to be a relative from Ebem Ohafia before taking the child under the pretext of showing her his house.

"Chidera later told me what he did to her, how he silenced her, and gave her snacks," Mrs. Enyinnaya revealed.

Following the incident, she immediately reported the matter to the police. However, the suspect initially evaded arrest. Days later, he was seen entering the church where he teaches, but instead of turning himself in, he attempted to escape responsibility. It was the intervention of local youths that led to his eventual capture and subsequent handover to the police at Abiriba before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Umuahia.

Despite the arrest, the case has been fraught with delays and frustrations. Mrs. Enyinnaya disclosed that a first court hearing was held on December 18, 2024, but she was not informed on time due to financial and distance constraints.

During the second hearing on February 21, 2025, at Magistrate Court 11, Umuahia, the case suffered another setback as the assigned police inspector failed to appear.

"I want justice for my daughter," Mrs. Enyinnaya pleaded. "But the barrister handling the case has told us that if we don’t provide a certain amount of money, he will not push the case further. He even suggested that we let the man go since we cannot afford it."

She expressed fear that the case might be abandoned without public intervention, allowing the suspect to walk free.

As she continues to seek justice, Mrs. Enyinnaya is calling on authorities, human rights organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians to support her in ensuring that the perpetrator is held accountable.

"Little Chidera wants justice! Say no to rape! If justice is not served, this could happen to another innocent child!" she cried out.

PoliticsKalu Advocates For Senator Natasha’s Aides Amid Suspension Sanctions (Video) by Metrix147(op): 5:10pm On Mar 06, 2025
During the heated plenary session that led to the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, made a case for empathy towards her aides, urging the Senate to amend a recommendation that called for the withholding of their salaries and wages, ABN TV reports.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwkDTv2QH4Q

The Ethics and Public Petitions Committee had recommended that, along with Senator Natasha’s six-month suspension, all financial entitlements, including salaries and allowances, be withheld—not just for the senator but also for her aides.

However, Senator Kalu took a stand against this, emphasizing that the affected aides were innocent and should not be punished for an offence they did not commit.

"We cannot punish the aides of Senator Natasha for an offence they did not commit," Kalu stated on the Senate floor. "They are staff of the National Assembly, and they have no other farm or means of livelihood apart from the salaries they earn from the Senate. As such, it will be wrong for us as a Senate to deny them and their families their salaries."

The former Abia State governor, now a distinguished senator, passionately moved for an amendment to the recommendation, urging his colleagues to allow the affected staff to continue receiving their salaries despite their principal's suspension.

While the Senate upheld the suspension of Senator Natasha, deliberations on Kalu’s plea gained attention, sparking discussions on the fairness of extending punitive measures to legislative aides who played no direct role in the senator’s alleged infractions.

The final decision on the proposed amendment remains pending, but Kalu’s intervention has drawn reactions from various quarters, with some commending his stance on protecting the welfare of National Assembly staff.

Politics“I Am Ready To Pay The Supreme Price” - Governor Fubara (video) by Metrix147(op): 11:50am On Mar 04, 2025
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured his supporters that victory is inevitable despite the ongoing political turmoil in the state.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBNPF6nseU8
Speaking on Monday during the commissioning of the Government House Staff Quarters at Forces Avenue, opposite the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara emphasized that the struggle in Rivers State is not just about politics but about standing for truth and justice.

Quoting from Philippians 3:18-19, the governor underscored the importance of faith and resilience, declaring, "Despite everything, victory is sure."

Amid rising political tension, Governor Fubara made a bold declaration that he would not hesitate to make the ultimate sacrifice if necessary to protect the interests of Rivers people.

"It must be on record that Rivers State is my top priority. If it requires me to pay the supreme price, I will not hesitate," he stated.

He further emphasized that his administration stands for peace but will not tolerate any attempt to destabilize the state.

"No matter how much we have been deceived in this state, the time has come for Rivers people to take their destinies into their own hands," he asserted.

Meanwhile, the Martins Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Fubara, demanding that he present the 2025 Appropriation Bill without delay.

Citing a Supreme Court ruling that halted statutory federal allocations to the state pending the passage of the budget, the lawmakers insisted that urgent action was needed to prevent a financial crisis.

“We do not want Rivers people to suffer. We, therefore, urge you to do the needful in the best interest of the good people of Rivers State,” read a letter signed by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.

The Assembly also announced plans to amend the Rivers State Local Government Law No. 5 of 2018 and the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission Law No. 2 of 2018 to align them with the Electoral Act, paving the way for fresh local government elections.

Christianity EtcViral Video Sparks Controversy Over Woman’s Testimony At Zion Ministry by Metrix147(op): 2:59pm On Mar 02, 2025
A viral video circulating on social media has sparked intense debate after a woman, who previously testified at Evangelist Ebuka Obi’s Zion Ministry about purchasing a multi-million naira mansion, was allegedly seen selling drinks after the testimony.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfcC2tYqniI
The development has raised questions among Nigerians, with some suggesting it casts doubt on the authenticity of testimonies shared at the popular church. Critics argue that the incident reinforces concerns about exaggerated or fabricated testimonies in religious circles, while supporters insist there may be more to the story than meets the eye.

Reacting to the controversy, Evangelist Ebuka Obi had, in a prophecy on February 4, claimed that a major accusation would be fabricated against him and his ministry this year. He warned that the alleged scandal would “shake the internet” and “look real, but be fake.” He further declared that those involved in orchestrating the allegations “will all die.”

The statement has since fueled more reactions, with some questioning whether the recent viral video aligns with his earlier prophecy. While some followers of Zion Ministry view the video as an attack on their spiritual leader, others believe it raises concerns about the credibility of testimonies within the church.

As debates continue, the Zion Ministry and Evangelist Obi are yet to issue an official response regarding the authenticity of the woman’s initial testimony and the circulating video.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has fulfilled his promise to members of the Abia State House of Assembly by presenting them with 24 brand-new Roxettes Utility Pick-Up Vans to enhance their legislative and oversight functions, ABN TV reports.

During the official handover ceremony, Governor Otti presented the keys to the Speaker of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, emphasizing that the gesture was aimed at improving the mobility and effectiveness of the lawmakers.

"I promised that I was going to make available a truck for each of you for your oversight functions," the governor stated.

Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting local businesses, noting that the vans were locally assembled in Abia State by Roxettes. He highlighted his policy of prioritizing indigenous manufacturers as a way of fostering local industrial growth and improving product quality.

"This vehicle was assembled in Abia State by Roxettes, with a workshop already in place in Ohia, Umuahia, while the factory is in Ukwa. This is all geared towards supporting local manufacturing and adding value to our economy," he said.

He further disclosed that the manufacturer, an indigene of Abia from Umunneochi LGA, is on the verge of completing his factory in Obuaku, Ukwa West LGA, with road construction to the site nearing completion.

Governor Otti emphasized that his government is focused on upscaling the quality of indigenous products to boost confidence in locally made goods and position them for export. He revealed that efforts are ongoing to establish an export growth lab in the state in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

"I'm sure you have read that we are trying to establish an export growth lab, and UNDP has promised to support us," he stated. "Our people are fantastic. There is nothing they can't produce with their hands; they only need a little support."

He also encouraged Aba-based manufacturers to boldly brand their products instead of using foreign labels.

"We see a lot of people improving on their products, particularly in Aba. What we are doing now is to encourage them to be bold enough to write their names instead of writing Prada, Gucci, or Fendi," Governor Otti noted.

PoliticsPressure Mounts On Tinubu As American Igbo Veterans Demand Nnamdi Kanu’s Freedom by Metrix147(op): 11:35pm On Feb 26, 2025
The American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID) have issued a strongly worded open letter to the Nigerian government, urging President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The group, made up of military veterans of Igbo heritage living in the United States, described Kanu’s continued detention as unlawful and a violation of international human rights.

In their letter, signed by AVID President Chief Dr. Sylvester Onyia and Secretary Dr. Godson Obiagwu, the veterans cited multiple court rulings, including decisions by Nigerian courts and the United Nations, which they argue invalidate Kanu’s detention. They emphasized that the Nigerian government has no legal basis to continue holding Kanu and called on President Tinubu to act immediately in ensuring his release.

The letter referenced several judicial decisions in favor of Kanu, starting with an October 26, 2022, judgment by the Federal High Court of Nigeria. The court declared that Kanu’s extradition from Kenya—described as an "extraordinary rendition"—was illegal and violated his fundamental human rights. The ruling further stated that his continued detention in Abuja was unconstitutional and amounted to a violation of his dignity and right to life under Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.

In December 2023, the Supreme Court of Nigeria also weighed in on the case. Despite remitting Kanu’s case back to the Federal High Court for trial, the court acknowledged that his initial detention was unlawful. It confirmed that he had been on bail when his home in Nigeria was invaded by heavily armed security forces, causing him to flee for safety. AVID noted that this attack, which forced Kanu into exile, was used as a false pretense to revoke his bail, issue an arrest warrant, and seize the bail bonds of his sureties.

"The government knew that their illegal actions made it impossible for Mr. Kanu to be in court for trial," the letter stated. "Yet, they proceeded to revoke his bail and claim he had jumped bail when, in fact, he was fleeing for his life."

Politics"Even Satan Will Claim Glory When Nnamdi Kanu Is Freed" – Emmanuel Kanu Declares by Metrix147(op):
Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed confidence that the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) will eventually regain his freedom, despite ongoing challenges, ABN TV reports.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIaCCAdR5bw
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Prince Emmanuel Kanu predicted that many individuals— including unlikely figures—will attempt to take credit for his brother’s eventual release.

"When Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is liberated, many individuals will queue up to claim glory, including Satan, and no amount of sabotage will be able to hinder his release. Write down today’s date," he wrote.

His statement comes amid growing calls for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in detention since his controversial arrest and extradition in 2021.

Prince Emmanuel Kanu’s remarks suggest that his brother’s freedom is inevitable despite obstacles and internal betrayals. His message reflects a deep conviction that external forces working against Nnamdi Kanu will fail.

The post has since sparked reactions among IPOB supporters and the broader pro-Biafra movement, with many echoing his belief that the agitation for Biafra remains strong despite attempts to suppress it.

CrimeWoman Posing As Gynecologist Caught In Umuahia (Photos) by Metrix147(op): 8:25am On Feb 25, 2025
A woman posing as a medical doctor at Echoes of God’s Mercy & Grace Mission Specialist Hospital, located on Finbars Road in Umuahia, Abia State, has been exposed as a fraud after an investigation confirmed she had no valid medical qualifications, ABN TV reports.

Miriam Ugochi Emenike, who had been working as a gynecologist and was later promoted to Chief Medical Director (CMD), allegedly used forged credentials to secure employment at the hospital. Despite concerns raised by staff over her qualifications, the hospital’s CEO insisted on hiring her in 2023.

Her fraudulent activities came to light after multiple medical malpractice cases were reported under her care. In September 2023, Emenike allegedly administered incorrect medications that led to a miscarriage for one patient and the death of another. These incidents raised suspicions among medical professionals at the hospital, prompting them to demand proof of her qualifications.

When confronted, Emenike failed to present a valid medical license. However, instead of being dismissed, she was promoted to CMD, sparking outrage among the hospital’s medical staff. In protest, all doctors at the facility resigned en masse, warning that keeping an unqualified individual in a leadership role could put patients' lives at risk and expose licensed doctors to legal liability.

Following a petition by concerned medical professionals, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) investigated Emenike’s credentials. Their findings revealed that her name was absent from the official registry of licensed medical practitioners. Additionally, the folio number she used for employment belonged to another doctor, confirming that she had fraudulently assumed a medical identity.

As a result, Emenike has been charged with forgery, impersonation, and obtaining employment under false pretenses. She is currently facing trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where medical professionals and other witnesses are expected to testify against her.

The operation, which took place on Friday, February 21, was led by the Deputy Commander of ASCP, Mr. Uhe, alongside key officials including Mr. Chibuike, Mr. Nwahiwe (Community Commander), Mr. Churchman, and Mr. Wisdom.

The arrested suspects, identified as Mr. Chinedu and Mr. Okezie (alias Nwa Aboy), are believed to be members of the same criminal gang involved in violent activities at Ahia Nkwo, where some of their associates were killed in November last year. According to the ASCP, the gang had been terrorizing residents and disrupting the peace of the community.

During the operation, security operatives recovered a cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and a locally fabricated gun. The criminals' shrine was also set ablaze.

CrimeObiano Used Unlicensed Companies For Fraud, Witness Tells Court by Metrix147(op): 7:20pm On Feb 24, 2025
The trial of former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, over alleged N4 billion fraud continued on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presenting its ninth witness.

Obiano is facing a nine-count charge of embezzlement and money laundering brought against him by the EFCC. At Monday’s hearing, the prosecution called its ninth witness, Andrew Ali, a staff member of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Head of the Licensing Office. Ali revealed that three out of the 23 companies linked to the alleged fraud were not licensed by the CBN to operate as Bureau de Change businesses.

“Sometimes around April 2023, we received two letters from the EFCC regarding some 23 financial institutions to determine if they were licensed or not. I forwarded the letters to the desk officer, who confirmed that we had received similar inquiries in the past. In our response dated May 21, 2023, we confirmed that three of the companies were not registered,” Ali stated.

The court admitted into evidence the EFCC’s eight-page letter and the CBN’s response, marking them as Exhibit A1 to A8.

During cross-examination, Obiano’s defense counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), asked Ali about the licensing status of one of the implicated companies, Zirga Zirga Trading Company. Ali explained that the company had failed to meet licensing requirements before 2014 and had been delisted.

“Once a company does not meet the requirements, it is delisted. The CBN only supervises licensed institutions. If a company is not on our list, we lose the power to supervise it. We issue public notices to warn people against dealing with unlicensed firms, and this information is available on our website,” Ali said.

He further cited Sections 15 and 19 of the CBN Revised Operational Guidelines of 2015, emphasizing that once a Bureau de Change (BDC) fails to renew its license, it is delisted and published on the CBN’s valedictory list. He also clarified that BDCs are required to conduct business through operational accounts and are not permitted to operate outside these accounts.

Following the witness’s testimony, Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned the case to February 26, 2025, for the continuation of trial.

PoliticsI Do Not Negotiate With Blackmailers, Criminals – Governor Otti (Video) by Metrix147(op): 1:39pm On Feb 24, 2025
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has vowed never to negotiate with individuals blackmailing his administration through the media, declaring that those removed from power in 2023 will never return.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlHj_HuQrFk

Speaking on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Grand Finale of the Power World Ministries 2025 Gospel Festival in Umuahia, Governor Otti assured Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, members of Power World Ministries, and all Abians that his government remains committed to the people’s welfare and progress.

“I want to congratulate all of you and thank God for keeping you alive to witness this festival. My prayer is that we will all be here again next year.”

Governor Otti expressed gratitude for Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai’s endorsement and the commendation from Rev. Dr. Uche Ume, stating that their recognition affirms that his administration is delivering on its promises.

The governor reaffirmed his stance against engaging with individuals who promote false narratives against his government, insisting that those who once thrived on corruption will not return to power.

“Anytime you see people supporting evil, they have already started derailing. Some individuals attack us in the media, but as the book of Jeremiah says, ‘They will fight us, but they will never prevail.’”

God removed certain people through the backdoor in 2023, and they will never return. Now, they want us to negotiate with them, but I say this clearly—I do not negotiate with criminals. This government was brought in by God Himself. They did everything in their power to stop us, but God said no.”

Governor Otti assured the people that Abia State would never return to the dark days of misgovernance.

“For those who think things will go back to the way they were, I want to assure them—it will never happen again.”

CrimeFear Grips Abia Community As Over 30 Bodies Linked To Suspected Ritual Killings by Metrix147(op): 7:57am On Feb 24, 2025
The traditional ruler of Oriendu Autonomous Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, HRH Eze Philip Ajomiwe, has raised serious concerns following the discovery of over 30 unidentified bodies in the Imo River since last year.

Speaking to journalists at his palace yesterday after the latest discovery of a woman's corpse, the monarch described the trend as alarming and deeply troubling.

According to Eze Ajomiwe, the victims, mostly young girls, are often found naked with missing body parts or packed in bags. In some instances, decomposing bodies have also been found near the NNPC pipeline.

“The victims are mostly young girls. The ritualists from Imo State usually come at night to dump their victims' bodies inside the Imo River, and in the morning, we wake up to find them,” he lamented.

Despite several reports to security agencies, the monarch revealed that no arrests have been made. He noted that while the community's vigilante group had attempted to stop the perpetrators, they lacked the necessary equipment to confront the heavily armed suspects.

"We’re appealing to the state government to empower the vigilante group with the necessary logistics and resources. You don’t go into such a fight empty-handed when the enemy is well-armed," Eze Ajomiwe stated.

The traditional ruler further disclosed that he had formally reported the situation to security authorities, including the Department of State Services (DSS). His latest appeal was in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly on February 7.

While appreciating the state government’s upward review of stipends for traditional rulers, Eze Ajomiwe noted that the amount remained insufficient to tackle security challenges. He emphasized that monarchs do not have security votes like governors, making it difficult for them to equip their community vigilante groups adequately.

In response to the revelations, the Abia State Police Command has promised to investigate the matter. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Maureen Chilaka, said she would inquire from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area to confirm the authenticity of the monarch’s claims. She also sought to determine whether any formal complaint had been lodged at a police station before providing further updates.

TravelAnother Truck Accident At Nmuri Hill Ohafia, Sparks Fresh Safety Concerns by Metrix147(op): 5:26pm On Feb 23, 2025
A heavy-duty truck belonging to All Best Logistics was involved in an accident at Nmuri Hill in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State on February 22, 2025.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv6rwDhWGos

The truck, loaded with chippings, suffered brake failure due to the deteriorating condition of the road. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.

The incident occurred at the same dangerous spot along the Federal Government’s F107 Road, where a tragic accident in December 2024 claimed the lives of eight travelers heading home for Christmas.

Speaking to ABN TV, the truck driver recounted the harrowing experience and how he managed to minimize damage despite losing control of the vehicle.

"When I realized the brakes had failed, I did everything possible to prevent a major disaster. To avoid endangering other road users, I swerved the truck into the gutter on my left side. We are grateful that no lives were lost," he said.

The driver further disclosed that he had loaded his truck with chippings from Amasiri in Ebonyi State and was transporting the materials to the construction site of the Omenuko Bridge in Abam, Abia State, a project currently being undertaken by the Abia State Government.

Motorists and residents have consistently raised concerns about the deplorable state of the F107 Road, particularly the Nmuri Hill section, which has become notorious for frequent accidents. Many have called on the Federal Government to urgently rehabilitate the road to prevent further tragedies.

The recurring accidents at Nmuri Hill highlight the pressing need for immediate repairs and enhanced road maintenance. As calls for government intervention intensify, stakeholders emphasize that proactive measures must be taken to ensure the safety of commuters and protect lives on this critical highway.

PoliticsHon. Amobi Ogah Demands Probe Into NGOs Over Alleged Terrorist Links (Video) by Metrix147(op): 9:29pm On Feb 20, 2025
Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called on the National Assembly to set up a special ad hoc committee to investigate the activities of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Nigeria.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCdEB4FaP5Y

The lawmaker made the call during a plenary session, citing growing concerns about the operations of these organizations, particularly in Northern Nigeria. Recent allegations suggest that some NGOs may be involved in illicit activities, including the alleged sponsorship of terrorist groups such as Boko Haram.

Hon. Ogah referenced a recent claim by a U.S. Congressman, who accused USAID of allegedly funding Boko Haram, stressing that such allegations warrant urgent and thorough scrutiny. He also raised concerns over reports that some NGOs own private jets operating in Borno State, questioning their motives and activities.

"The presence of private jets owned by NGOs in Borno raises serious concerns. What exactly are they doing there?" Ogah queried.

The proposed ad hoc committee will investigate various aspects of NGO and CSO operations in Nigeria, with a special focus on the Northern region.

BusinessFG Bans Fuel Tankers Above 60,000 Litres From Nigerian Roads by Metrix147(op): 10:43am On Feb 20, 2025
The Federal Government (FO) has announced a ban on fuel tankers exceeding 60,000 litres from operating on Nigerian roads, a move aimed at curbing accidents involving heavy-duty petroleum trucks, ABN TV reports.

The ban is expected to take effect from March 1, 2025.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) disclosed this development, adding that by the fourth quarter of 2025, no truck with a capacity exceeding 45,000 litres will be permitted to load petroleum products.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Ogbugo Ukoha, the Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage, and Retailing Infrastructure at NMDPRA, explained that the decision was reached following an alarming rise in road accidents involving fuel tankers.

“The first stakeholder’s technical committee met today to drill down and put timelines for about 10 resolutions that had been taken on how to drive down the significant increase that had been observed in relation to trucks and transit incidents and fatalities,” Ukoha stated.

He further revealed that key stakeholders, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Federal Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), and NMDPRA, were involved in the decision-making process.

According to Ukoha, a consensus was reached among all stakeholders to enforce the new regulations in the interest of public safety. From March 1, 2025, trucks with an axle load exceeding 60,000 litres of hydrocarbons will be prohibited from loading at any depot in the country.

“This is an important step because, for the first time, consensus was built amongst all stakeholders, and we are continuing to encourage cohesive efforts to ensure the safe transportation of petroleum products across the country,” he emphasized.

Addressing concerns regarding fuel quality, Ukoha dismissed recent claims about substandard fuel in circulation, describing them as “bogus, misleading, and unscientific.”
