You guys and religion...

Always find it funny how Nigerians seem to not understand the concept of keeping religion between you and your God. It's pretty rude, Lets try to not turn this thread into a church.
Good day mr solo, after living in Canada for a minute I totally agree with you on the keeping church aside.

However, haven lived in naija, Kai I will understand why we can't keep church aside. U need God oh. For something as little as visa one can use diabolical means to make sure that u never get the visa (all them our village people). My brother u won't understand. Naija tough. Lol

I know that u cannot comprehend the juju things. Juju is a real as HIV, until e catch u before u go believe.

Please don't crucify me. I'm just saying oh

Cherokee's delay just got me worried.
Cos I intend using my paternal uncle(a distance one) who doesn't share my surname as sponsor. I grew knwing him as my dad's brother not same parent though and he's already sponsoring is kids in canada. My worry is how do I prove our relationship?
Wait. Let's analyze this sir. Before I delve deeper u mentioned that he currently has dependants schooling in Canada, right? This means that he will be spending at least 20k/yr per head, right? Knowing his yearly income will help us analyze this properly considering the fact that his kids come first before u. From my end I see a financial burden on him and only a good income will convince me. Sorry I dey use me, trying to act as a vo. Pls answer the income question and we will go from there

Don't get scared u will not be denied if we address the salient points. By the way that line "I grew my seeing him as my dad" touched me. It will make a good catch phrase on Ur SOP. Don't worry u will be fine. Pardon any typo

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by mevisbleek: 3:47pm On May 27, 2015
Visa process pretty convoluted. I read some comments where people posted that your course of study must be in line with what you coming to study in Canada, interesting. How can we explain the fact that someone studied accounting in Nigeria and now is doing masters in supply chain and she was given study visa. As a business major there is correlation between both courses.

Also, couple of us are saying that Canada visa hard but have we noticed that we only hear stories of dulling on this forum. For God sakes, where are the people that have received trv? Mind you the people on this forum is just a fraction of those that apply and receive trv. I have met 5 guys so far that just came to canada to study and they are not on Nairaland. They haven't even heared of NL before. Another chick just got her trv last week, she dey east she no even get Internet to even comment on NL.

So my people let's just apply and be hopeful it ain't that bad. We cannot really tell what the VO is thinking.

This whole visa stuff is crazy. Can't wait for the day our country will get better. One last thing, I visited Zambia in 2012, if u see the crowd for front of naija embassy eh lol they were dulling people anyhow. 2 Zambian women were even crying, Chai. I was proud to flash the green passport then.

God bless Nigeria, God bless us all. We shall hear success stories. And please don't run when u get the visa. Share ur timeline with others. :-). Pardon any typo I dey rush

How sincere do you want our brother to be on a public platform? For sure any sane human being will sensor some info, innit? Let try to help with the little info we have. It's hard but that's what it is.
When men dey apply for ontario PNP, 5 guys dey use the same $11,000 apply some get caught whilst some don't. So my brother that asked the question, just make that 4m reappear in your account the way you did it the first time, if you know what I mean.
You are blessed that they asked for evidence and not outright dulling. You are almost done bro be calm and think this straight. You will be just fine :-)

Thank you sir. I went to manitoba for 1 week and couldn't help but notice how dry that place is. To hustle 14k ain't easy at all but doable. Since money is kinda tight (not for so long no worry) I guess you should go for the cheaper tuition. Maybe when school close u fit come out west to do heavy hustle. Maybe work 14 hrs a day to get that money fast. I must confess it is possible to hustle real douche but possible when school close cos then u can pickup more hours. No worry my brother as I said just come first e go align no worry. It is well no worry

Blair area is cool too, Montreal area is fine, bus 12. But let him states his main preference, hopefully I can give better suggestion.

Just to clarify something here, even 400$ at fairlea is super difficult, maybe it was easy when you were here though, but I feel he should not plan on 400$ so he doesn't get stranded. That's my view though.
Really? Even in Alberta you can see a room for $400 as well as Toronto. Transport from fairlea in extremely easy as bus 8 goes straight to downtown. Suggest other places to him but when I was there it was uber easy I tell u with couple of Nigerians around (chicks to be precise) so he will enjoy it

It depends on which kind hustle you involve yourself in, if you know what I mean. Also depends on the province where you stay hustle. If you are in Ontario $10.25 minimum wage based on 20hrs a week ain't gonna cut it. Nwanne, forgive me jor anything is possible but it will be extremely hard tho. Just come first things go align. Hello everyone. I would like to find out a thing or two.

Although I know this is based on the individual, how much do you think is ok for personal expenses for a year in Canada, excluding accommodation? A range will be fine.

Also, I'm heading to Ottawa. Is 800 CAD too much to pay for accommodation per month? It is a campus suite which I will call fully serviced: heat, water, laundry, gym, furniture, Internet, full bathroom but sharing room with 1 person. Should I look to get lower? I hear housing in Ottawa is generally quite affordable.

@Kepner you're heading to Ottawa as well right. Any thoughts?

I'd appreciate some responses. Thank you. smiley
I lived in Ottawa for a year. Rooms for a month is like $500/month. You can also see $400/month. Around fairlea crescent with is ghetto u can see $350/month

I don't get why people are getting their panties in a bunch, I never insulted anyone and even said I don't think you are lying. I gave you my opinion and told you exactly why I think that way. Your replies does not refute those points in anyway, or explain why, you just said again that another people also got those admission.

Only insecure people start going personal, I am here to give my opinion and help people from my motherland with absolutely nothing to gain (especially people that want to stay and excel here). I am in energy, you need your p. Eng to be in certain positions. If you think I am wrong, you can respond as a grown up and move on.

I don't deserve to be in Canada? Haha, I've lived 3/4 of life in Canada. I know more about Canada than I do of naija. I am also man enough to say I do not know about a certain topics when I don't, as a I've already done on this thread a bunch of times.

So, i'm just not sure.

@ DONMIKOA, you can get into an MBA without pre-MBA but that depends on the school and most importantly your grade. I did not have to do PRE-MBA.

A lot of people have been passing opinions as facts, Do not apply for things you can't afford. Masters is way more expensive and honestly a naija B.Sc does not hold up to a Canadian B.Sc, everybody know that, including the people looking at your application. A post graduate diploma is still an upgrade to a naija B.Sc. People here even do post grad diploma after going to university. If you apply for Masters you might have a better chance, but it puts a higher burden to prove that you can pay your fees and day to day living.

People are being denied on a case by case basis. It might be that you are not among the top choices during the period you applied and they have met their quota or many other reasons. Again thousands of people apply from almost every country in the world, including the states that is next door. Apply to what makes the most sense to you.

Lets not confuse people.
Good day Sir /madame,
MSc is actually cheaper than most colleges that people apply to. I believe we Nigerians do not like due process, anything that follows due process will be termed "long thing". Masters application is part of that long thing while pgd application take like 1-2 or there about. People don't want to write Gre or gmat becos they feel say na long thing

Don't crucify me oh its just what I feel. Lol

Note that not everybody can get admission into masters. That is the reason why majority tend to go for colleges.

I personally feel it boils down to having a simple case.
I feel this VOS are done assessing complex scenerios.
Really appreciate you stating what you feel. But the rate of denial is alarming. Are you trying to say everyone that has been denied got a convoluted case?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by mevisbleek: 5:19pm On May 21, 2015
I have been following NL for a long time. I truly love to see more Nigerians in Canada. I feel so terrible hearing all this horrible refusals. I sympathize with everyone that give refused from the bottom of my heart

In times like this we need to seat down, rethink our strategy and come up with quality ideas to tackle an issue. I believe in God but I'm also a firm believer of putting the right strategy in place so that God can easily do his job (people will say heaven helps those who help themself)

I know that what I'm about to say will hurt a lot of people but I'm deeply sorry. I'm giving my candid advise as a brother and as someone that has the best interest of fellow Nigerians. No disrespect to anyone. Please forgive me if I sound rude but it's not my intention at all God is my witness.

Let me put my self in the VO shoe for a second, if I were to be a vo I would deny a lot of apps that I see these days. My people why the sudden rush into colleges after completion of a BSc in Nigeria? These guys are researched inclined and know fully well that a college grad has little or no intention of returning because what kind of job awaits you in Nigeria, a market filled with masters and phd grads from Europe and other continent. I feel a Masters degree should be a better academic progression after BSc even if one has no intention of returning. Years back masters used to be the trend for Nigerians coming over but now college is because people have heared about PR and everyone is trying to get in by all means.

The deny for reasons like no family tie in home country, which other tie them want when all your siblings dey naija? Trust me the VOs are seeing a trend and they are trend for this but we Nigerians believe in packaging, packaging without strategy and critical thinking makes no sense .

Trust me guys, let's restrategize. Please feel free to insult me I hardly get upset. I'm just a concerned citizen. Let's go for advanced degree and show these Vo's that we have something to offer and not just hungry about PR.

Just an advise guys. No pms please. Curse me on this platform
