Please help me investigate this case... someone on what's app group is having issues with the painter he hired.

One of the issues at hand was that the painter was collecting the empty paint bucket used and he wants the empty buckets.. the painter said that's not how it is done.

This got me confused, I have done some projects in the past but didn't really get into details like that, like what happens to empty bag of cement, used bamboo , paint buckets etc. ( you need to leave room for family members to chop )

Who is right here? Does the client take possession of all the empty paint buckets or do painters keep them?

if the clients bought the paints and materials for the job,he owns the bucket and stuff. It's no brainer


But if the painter charged for the job and was made to procure the materials used plus paints, he owns the bucket because he might have factored in the cost of reselling the buckets in his charges. So taking the buckets means taking some of his agreed amounts

This issue is a dicey one. Real estate may store value but how easily can it be liquidated? With the rate of inflation skyrocketing, a house valued at N100m may stay months or even years in the market without buyers. I watched a documentary about some folks who had their houses listed for sale about 5 years ago without buyers even after heavy discounts. If owners want to match rent to high cost of building materials, their units will remain vacant because income is not rising with inflation.

The situation in Nigeria now is a very big challenge even for Economists.

N40m will be my conservative estimate for the complete building (construction of the carcass and the full finish till turnkey stage). In fact I have a client who still likes this plan and want(ed me to build it for him but when I told him the likely cost, he started considering a bungalow instead. This was just last week.

don't do it. Water is very heavy so adding such weight to your foundation will bring about cracks in no distance time especially if the foundation isn't prepared for it.


How about water leaking from the taps and dropping into the house and if it's pop ceiling,it immediately gets condemned.


How do you fix issues with leakage and routine washing of the tank. Just don't do it. Do a separate tank stand even though it's expensive but it's safer and better

Without stating what happened and how it happened,no one will be able to help you.

1 tonne of 12 mm rod in Lagos is #380k as at today.

I went to my vendor shop to buy and when he gave me the price, within my mind I felt he wanted to cheat me and we quarreled a bit before i angrily left his shop only for me to go to another vendor and they quoted me #385k last. I left there and went to another place and I was told #380k last price.

Shame couldn't make me go back to the initial vendor who has been my supplier since the inception of my project. Little did I know he was giving me the actual price. I had to later buy from the third person because I felt guilty of quarreling with my supplier and didn't have the energy going back to his shop.

God help this country with the way price of material is increasing. This same 1 tonne 12 mm rod was less than 200k as at October 2020.

please oga mi and everyone else reading this,if I give you a quotation and you angrily quarrel with me, kindly come back when you verify that I am not cheating you. Don't let shame make you give another person the money you're supposed to give me. It's not your fault for getting angry neither is it my fault for charging so high.
