tbaba1234: Awoniyi scored 7 goals in over 20 league games in the league last season. Awoniyi has not scored at all this season in the league after 10 games.
Osimhen already has 5 goals in 7 league games.
The invitation might be early for Osimhen but i do not think Awoniyi has done enough so far to force the coach's hand.
Rohr clearly likes Osimhen so it is not surprising that he is getting called up. Going by this judgement, shouldn't we have said Keshi loves Agbim? Or maybe Oliseh loves Igboun? When it comes to a foreigner we use everything to defend them, you hear stuffs like Rohr does not rate so-so player(although he has scored a ton of goals and is a solution to an ailing part of our team) instead of saying it straight and direct that Rohr too is biased. I do not care if he is biased or not so long as he gets the result but sugar-coating it is my problem. Rohr said he does not think any player from Rangers or Kano Pillars is good enough for the SE, then he goes ahead to invite a player from FCIU who has not played in ages and was not the standout defender in FCIU when he was playing, yet nobody is talking, if na Keshi invite Agbim this thread will not rest. Rohr keeps on inviting Ikechukwu Ezenwa and we will say it is because he is in his plans, if na Keshi invite Egwuekwe war start. Like I said, call it what it is 'selection bias', forget all these professional names |

AIG07: The November list didn't come as surprise to me. One thing this list and the previous ones have done is that, it continues to show that the man Rohr does not know the way to the promise land. He has contributed immensely to our football by bringing us out of agonizing period of bad football and barrenness, he has brought back the fear factor known with the Super Eagles on the African continent. In short, he has achieved more in few years that he has spent with us.
Going forward, I'm afraid to say the man lacks idea(s) to improve the SE. We might continue to win our African opponents and even go on to win AFCON 19. But truth be told, the farthest his revolution will take us is just a football orgasm and we will be back again to the drawing board.
Note: why do some people get emotional and attack others for stating their opinions. Just saw where Mickael2 was attacked for writing off the team’s chances against SA. On paper, with the thin midfielders we will be parading, we don't stand a chance and every reasonable pundits will never give the Eagles a walkover over the southies. Not forgetting that they whipped our ass right there at our backyard.
We all hope the team wins. That is what Komekn calls emotive bias and prejudice |

No disrespect to Onazi, he was at best a whit above average for us when he had it, and he did bleed for us, but now, he aint got it no more and he should make way. Onazi was outstanding from 2013-2015, not even close to being average at all. |

Abeg, list the great SA midfielders that will grind this out with us, let us also know where they were when Seychelles held them to a draw.
You people should Kponkpi..... The midfield is thin, but we go manage, as long as the coach knows what he is going for Last year I predicted that we would not defeat Algeria, and well we did not did we? I can not recall anything connected to the Cameroon game at all. The same SA midfielders that made our midfielders look like garbage last year are coming again. I bet you didn't even watch their game against Seychelles to see the number of chances that midfield created, like I said this will be a tough match |

chiscodedon: Finally Chukwueze made the list... Take it easy with Rohr. Osimehn must have been inform to make the list.... Haven't been following his progress in his new club lately... But why just 3 midfielders..? Nice to see Agu back, the dude hasn't really been given time in GWG Who's Adeleye..? So Iwobi is going to be our controller against South Africa? In South Africa? I thought Mikel Obi is back? So we want to face the South Africans with a midfield trio of Ogu,Etebo and Iwobi. Bash me all you want, but we will be lucky to get away with a draw, mark that anywhere. This would have been an even better game to invite Kelechi Nwakali or some of these foreign pros like Ebere Eze, come on!! Who is this Adeleke guy? If na Keshi now, we will scream Egunje. Nice to see Victor Oshimen and Samuel Chukwueze. But don't we have wingers who are playing in better levels than Villarreal B? I love the guy's invitation but it is detrimental to our midfield, the SA's like playing on the counter and we do not ha e enough experience, skillset, speed or technical knowhow in this crop. I mean our midfield was overran in patches by Libya's quick midfielders, and now we have less pace in Ogu, Mikel is needed or at least somebody who can control the game. That said Super Eagles till I die |

edi287: Partially true. Iwobi is used to playing with the likes of Ozil, Mkhitaryan, even Ramsey who also drift around to find space. I think he works well as an AMF when Musa plays outwide because Musa sometimes drifts to the middle while Ighalo go wide(still makes me laugh when people think Ighalo is a old school target man). This is why we need another AM...Eze, Onomah, etc...we need those kind of technicians not this B2B/DM fetish Rohr has been exhibiting. I agree, after watching these games I do not see Iwobi as an AMF, I see him as a fluid winger who should be allowed to move into the middle at will. If only Onyekuru was in form for us, he would have been my perfect winger because he too can drift into the middle just like Musa, the rest we have are old fashioned wingers |

Curtisaxel7: The bolded is the koko. Ighalo NEVER lost form for us. NEVER!. He simply wasn't fed the right passes.
Our fullbacks at the WC were piss poor. Idowu was particularly USELESS!. Not a single meaningful cross from him throughout the tournament!. No overlapping, nothing. The midfield was just non existent. How many defence splitting passes did Ighalo get?.
He is a striker for heaven's sake, you don't expect him to create chances for himself!.
Put Ighalo in a team with a proper midfield and watch him score until you beg him to stop. Ok let us not take this too far, he has had chances which he bottled. |

BascoVanVeli: The wingers are expected to hug the line so as to create that space for Iwobi. There is no AMF that will just stand in one spot waiting on the ball. I did not drop Etebo because he was poor but so he can be a game changer later in the game. Onazi is capable of locking down the midfield defensively, he also knows when to use a hard foul to send a message and those SA boys are not ready for that. the wingers will not hug the line if they are not instructed to. Watch Musa and see that our formation is not 'touch-line' oriented, so they can't just enter the match and start hugging the touchline after spending the entire training session cutting into the box, that would then be on the coach for poor game planning. No AMF stands in a spot, yes, but no AMF will virtually become a winger all game long even when the team is defending, Iwobi is too used to that wide role that instructing him to play as an AMF may not work in the national team, it has to start from his club. So you are ok with Onazi's poor disciplinary record? If he gets a yellow early in the game do you know what Percy Tau will do with him? |

safarigirl: probabky because they were moving forward too easily rather than screening the defence like they should have. When both midfielders like to drift higher up the pitch, the likelihood of the opposition drifting past them is very high Nope. You could see Iwobi pressing the goalkeeper sometimes, he is supposed to be setting the pace and in that case he is signalling that the press should be aggressive, in that case one of Ndidi or Etebo has no choice but to push forward and cover the position vacated by Iwobi. I mean if you sit deep it still wouldn't change anything especially since the Libyans were willing to shoot from far out |

BascoVanVeli: I think it would be better to keep hold to Etebo. With Onazi and Mikel on the pitch one of them may need a breather or have a yellow card. Ogu can replace Mikel but if it is Onazi then there might be trouble. Etebo could be an impact player of the bench in a more further position. The problem I see with your lineup is lack of pace in that middle. Iwobi is the kind of guy that even if he is playing the AMF role he will still like to drift to the flanks and influence play from there but the problem he has is that even when he starts defending, he still sticks to the flank, at some point he was marking Samuel Kalu's man while we were defending and Samuel didn't know what to do hence he started moving from one side to the other to give Iwobi space that is why I have not blamed Samuel for his bad game knowing fully well that it would take a lot of training for him to know when to move central if Iwobi drifts to his wing, even Moses Simon or whoever would have a hard time with Iwobi as our AMF. Then back to your formation, Iwobi's absence then creates a space in the middle because only two players will be pressing in the middle, Etebo to me wasn't that poor because he was pressing for two persons and Ndidi was just sitting back doing almost nothing, just that if he(Etebo) does win the ball back he ends up making the wrong decision but with Mikel in the team I know that it will be reduced but if you remove Etebo for Onazi, is it Onazi or Mikel that will press for two persons?? You could see how the Libyans were easily creating passing triangles in our midfield because we had only two players chasing their 3-4 midfielders, don't forget that those two midfielders were Ndidi and Etebo, workhorses but still the Libyans found it easy, very very easy to get past the two of them and the Libyans aren't even on par with the South Africans when it comes to passing. So just imagine this; superior passing with even less energy in our midfield, that would be suicidal. I still think Iwobi should go back to the left or right flank and Etebo should pair with Onazi, Simon Moses should welcome Samuel to the bench |

This is like me saying give Nigeria Xavi and they'd have better control of the midfield and would have easily seen the game out at 2 nil. If you are smart, you will know that it means with better finishing, they would have won. But I guess English is not our mother tongue then |

charlesemeka85: and the responsibility of how the team play rest only on the shoulders of iwobi? they are three in the middle and everyone of them have their duty where as iwobi is given the licence to roam around and create something, ndidi is the shield of the back four so etebo is suppose to be the one to detect the tempo of the team's game flow but he lacks the qualities
i said it few days ago that the best midfielder trio for the team should be mikel(to be deployed as a deep laying player maker),ndidi(as the box to box midfielder) and iwobi(as the the teams number 10) I meant he is not our solution to life after Mikel. We need a controller with him in that middle, he can create and let the controller detect the tempo. My point |

Diavolo: sorry bro, but is it this same match going on ure talking about?. Libya isn't in control of the match and their goal came about from a set piece that Nigeria took their legs of the pedal. Even the commentators were saying that Nigerian are finding the game too easy. If u want to give a report, pls be truthful. Not sounding overtly pessimistic and critical. These commentators? Do you even know what the pace of a match is?? The Libyans are pushing the ball rapidly trying to play at a fast pace, Mikel would have slowed the game down to suit us since we are winning, that is what controlling a match means, have we been playing this match at our own pace? So how are we controlling this game? I never said Libya is controlling the game, I said we are not in control because we are playing at Libya's pace, two very very different things |

This may not be a popular opinion but Iwobi is not our solution. He is creative no doubt, but he is not a controller. At 2 goals up we were still playing at the pace the Libyans want us to play, same thing in the first leg. If Iwobi cannot control a match against Libya will he manage against any other team? Libya controlled the first leg and should have scored way more, they are controlling this one and should be level or even ahead but we are lucky.
Ndidi, I wonder why nobody criticises him, he is doing absolutely nothing. We attack Etebo for holding on to the ball too much but Ndidi does nothing, he does not chase the ball, he just has an automatic shirt which makes no sense. I watched the Algeria match and Ogu is a good controller, without Mikel he should be playing a part in all our matches, he will offer way more with Etebo than Ndidi |
