sontoly:He has been playing in that position for FC Porto since he moved there, the excuse is poor. I mean that's the same thing we say when Iwobi flops in the same position that he has been playing for Arsenal since |
SlayerForever:Very very impossible my brother, I mean it cannot be done. But then again he wants to believe that we play a double false 9 in a two man attack |
Icon4s:I never said red hot with respect to this or that. I said he is in red hot form and quite simply that is true. Do we have another striker with a better goals to game ratio right now? |
Icon4s:No offence but you are getting it all totally wrong. A false 9 IS NOT an attacking midfielder running into the CF position, rather he is a CF running into the attacking midfield position. Those are two distinct patterns, one is running forward whilst one is running backwards. When you play two forwards one almost always drops into the position that Ahmed Musa was operating from and it is called the SS position not a false 9 position, I mean that was what Anelka used to do at Chelsea, they are not even remotely connected to each other and it is quite funny you are equating the two. As an AMF you can go to any side to detect play, even before Iwobi we had even Di Maria operating as a wide AMF like in that champions league final against Atletico, that one is totally different but a false 9 is a rather distinct position. In conclusion Iheanacho and Musa were playing the SS role not the false 9 role please. to answer your question I could ask you where was Dembele when Messi gave him that pass with which he scored against Chelsea. Or maybe where do you normally see Ronaldo during games? Are they also false 9s? A good coach will tell you that your formation is rigid until you enter the final third of the pitch then you can start being creative with your movements, even if it means a RB occupying a CFs position so long as it is effective. Okay his second goal was scored from which position? |
Icon4s:Is he not currently the highest goalscorer in China?? |
Icon4s:Musa's game against Iceland was not from a false 9 position. That is not what a false 9 is, that is just a perfect example of a fluid 3-5-2 turning into a 3-4-3 because Moses was joining the attack. That was not a false 9 play at all, Musa was almost always on the wing and from that you can see that he was in now way a false 9. Let's just say he was a mobile forward drifting to the wings but calling him a false 9 in that role is a NO NO |
Icon4s:The only time I ever advocated for Ighalo because of his holdup play was against Cameron way back then and it worked. Simy Nwankwo has how many goals in the Serie A this season? There is no way any coach would start him over a red-hot Ighalo, that is one of the laws of nature. If we have Simy averaging like 10-15 goals per season then we can call his name but he isn't, and that's the reason. It is currently clear that we are short of options in that department presently. Quick question, based on your definition of a false 9, what did Musa play against Iceland? A false 9? |
Icon4s:When you play as a false 9 that means you have to drop into the hole originally occupied by the opposing team's DMF there is absolutely no space around that area. First of all Musa CANNOT function as a false 9, from his style of play you can see that. How will Iheanacho who can hardly beat his man function as a false 9? If you play Iheanacho as a false 9 then he will continue drifting backwards until he starts playing as a 10 all over again and the function becomes null. Do not make me laugh, Onyekuru as a false 9? There is a big difference between beating your man all ends up around the touchline and actually having to drift through 2-3 players in the middle of the field. If you think Onyekuru can function maximally in a tight space then you really need to start watching him more often. Like I said only Iwobi comes close to that role but his finishing abilities is a great negative for him presently. |
darkelf:That I will totally agree with if we are willing to change our formation to suit that other person, but can you trust Rohr to change his formation? Give Rohr anyother type of player and what you will get will be the same game Iheanacho had against SA, dry and poor by every means and then he will come to a press conference and tell you how we need more presence up top and Ighalo is back |
Certitude:My idea of a false 9 is a striker who drops deep, collects the ball and makes something happen with it. Now dropping deep means you will get crowded out, can you trust any of our present players to beat their man in a tight space?? Neither Iheanacho nor Musa can do that, Iwobi can but does he have the other attributes of a false 9?? I dont think so. If however there is another style of false 9 then I am willing to learn. |
Icon4s:If I remember correctly you are the advocate of 'manage what we have'. I believe you have at least rudimentary experience in coaching and I am sure you know that 99% of coaches have a standard formation which they always fall back on especially when the national team is involved. Moreover you do know that virtually no successful national team plays with a false 9? The training you have to undergo to field a false 9 is impossible to achieve in a short while,I remember when we tried it in our medical games and the movement of our 'false 9' confused even the CBs and we had 4 weeks to train with a proper coach and the dude was talented. So first off, who is currently the striker who can precisely fit into a 4-2-3-1 which is virtually what we play nevermind the 4-3-3 you see? Don't say we can switch to a 3-5-2 because you know that is just a backup and the coach draws his list with preference to players that can execute that 4-2-3-1 formation, so please point out another player that can function there. Musa isn't exactly the type of player that can function maximally without the ball, you can see that most of his goals from 2014 are all as a result of playing the ball to his feet in space, do you have space as a single striker against 2 rough African CBs? Please do not even mention Iheanacho. Back in those days we had coaches who were actually tacticians, you can see Keshi switching tactics to play Ameobi as a CF today and then Martins next week, right now all we have is a German stiff-neck who arranges his team in the same 4-2-3-1 formation everyday then goes to sleep on the sideline, even if Rohr was appointed in the 2000s he still would have phased out Uche and other small out and out strikers then who could not play without the ball. Then who exactly can operate as our false 9? Again don't mention Iheanacho it has already failed before, ok maybe Musa, but he is not creative enough for that role at all, who else? Even if we crack that part, a false 9 formation only works well with CFs disgusied as wingers, when Messi was playing as a false 9 he had Henry and Villa at the wings, original CFs, so which of our CFs now can play the the Villa/Henry role well? Will our false 9s be effective enough to create chances for the CFs? There is a reason why Chelsea's false 9 approach with Hazard as the false 9 and Willian(another conventional winger) as one of the supposed CFs who should benefit from the pockets of space left by the false 9. So saying get rid of Ighalo without a proper replacement is going to trigger a chain of events that currently we cannot afford. So until we get rid of that imposter parading as a coach and hire an actual tactician who can use our players well enough just get used to Ighalo or Ighalo type strikers |
BascoVanVeli:The managerial change midway through didn't help matters either. Personally I think Stoke and Swansea are a level or two above the other championship teams and will easily make it back to the premier league if they can be consistent, the championship lasts longer than the Epl |
forgiveness:Toh we have been hearing since that he didn't have enough time to impress, but somehow he got 296 minutes out of a possible 810 which means he played for 37% of the time, if you can't achieve a single assist from the said time as an attacking midfielder then we have a problem. Another issue is that he is playing as a side midfielder in Porto B now, in the long run will he be our saviour in the AMF position? |
darkelf:That is very very sad, but so long as Nacho doesn't take it to heart and builds on this momentum(no matter how they want to take it away from him), probably next natch he will start from the bench but if he can make even more of his next sub appearance we are onto something. forget that stats for now |
Joebie:They are actually a good team, by next season he would be playing in the first tier I can assure you and by then it would be an awesome decision. |
SlayerForever:Obviously League 1 is not better than the dutch league, but saying the Portuguese division 2 is better than the Scottish league is even more absurd |
SlayerForever:Just imagine Komekn using this same argument to prove that League 1 is better than Dutch league and the type of abuse he will receive. The way we change pur goalposts here eh |
chrisooblog:We are not talking about average players or not, if you tag someone like Ajagun a below average player what does that make KC? On Taiwo, what is Echejile still doing in this team? I can tell you that a gassed out Taiwo is presently better than Echejile go and watch his recent matches. If Echejile is still getting invited then there was no reason for Taiwo's omission. Please do well to tell me any of our players that has 'pulled up' more trees than Ajagun in the past few years. You can decide to pick if you have more worthy persons which presently there is no one ahead of him in this hierarchy. Which other AMF/CMF did we invite? so that means the reason why Ajagun isn't there is because KC is there. I hate sounding like I don't want to see the boy there but due process has to be followed at all times. Well the present matter here and now is that at Bratislava Rabiu is bossing it. he was also a starter for Trencin a few seasons ago, and in the match he played against Chad he played very well in the limited time, go and check again. By the way when he was representing Trencin, a run of games for the national team would have propelled him to a better career which is what I believe we are trying to do for KC now, so why does player A deserve better recognition than player B? |
gamaliel9:Younger version of Buhari how? So his achievements in Kano mean nothing to you? |
safarigirl:I believe that means you have decided to endure the hot sun on that day so as to carry out your civic responsibility, big kudos to you. I must admit it wasn't easy, took me 2hours to actually get although I knew people so congrats. About my candidate we are still doing some background work for Kwankwaso right about now. the primaries are yet to be conducted(and that is for registered party members), but the background work is on going, we intend to meet up with aspirants in lesser positions even down to council chairmen so that we can also adopt candidates with a similar mindset so that the development will be holistic. If we have about 65% of lawmakers who have the same ideology (I could care less about their parties) and about 70% of state governors and state administrators then you can hold us accountable for not functioning well. Sha for now we are waiting for the primaries but we don't do parry politics so don't expect to see me backing Atiku if he wins the primaries. |
Icon4s:But are they....are they really all we have? Is it that we do not have any player playing in their position in a top league? Or we just decide to hinder under the umbrella of 'they are too old' and then invite other below par players? A player like Taye Taiwo was still in an active league few seasons ago but he was never invited, he was the top scorer of Kemi back then yet he wasn't invited and people here said it's because he is in a lo league, so which league now is higher between Bundesliga 3(the boy in question I believe just got promoted to Bundelisga 2 this season) and the Finnish league? I put it to you that if Taiwo got the invite he so merited back then he would still be playing professional football, I mean we invite players from Chinese and Saudi leagues but we rejected Taiwo's invitation because he was in Finland, what's the excuse?! Or didn't he distinguish himself before going to that Finnish league? Case number 1. Case number 2, is Ajagun a ball boy in Belgium? Why settle for a midfielder who got kicked out of a dutch league team(VVVenlo), failed to make a substantial impact in dutch division 2 and is now wasting away in Porto B? He is young, 20, wouldn't it make more sense to use more seasoned professionals? When did the national team turn to a rookies' joint? Or hasn't Ajagun done enough to merit an invite? Or at 29, is he older than almost half of our team?(Mikel,Balogun, Ighalo and the rest) or is it that we do not have any need for a midfielder? when we can barely create chances through the middle in games. or is it that he hasn't shown his stuff? Is it not if you get invited that you can show what you have? Case 3, still on our need for a midfielder, before KC gets a look in somebody like Rabiu Ibrahim should even get a look in. For those that do not know, Rabiu is a sure fixture for Slovan Bratislava, he has a position tied down even with a broken leg and the last time he played for Nigeria(I can't recall the game) he did very well yet he never got invited. Now Bratislava is one of the power houses in Slovakia and if I am correct they are in the Europa league or at least played the qualifiers is that not a bigger place than the LigaII in Portugal? Or is it that Rabiu is now an old man too? Or is that we don't like players from Slovakia? has he been invited enough to show his thing and he failed? How did he not at least merit an invite in that Atletico match and who is too he wouldn't have taken those academy boys on a ride? Let's be honest here, that match against Atletico makes no sense, any seasoned professional would have shone like a million stars in the game. Case 4, Ramon Azeez. Is he now a Spanish player? OK let me not say much about him because he is more of a DMF than CMF and is not exactly in direct contest with KC or Jamiu or the other guy. Case 5, Efe Ambrose. So a playing that struggled for game time in Cardiff last season is now better than one of the top players of a top 6 club in Scotland? I mean the talk is ridiculous. All in a my point is we have better option, but it is either we are not looking hard enough or there are some backroom politics surrounding this list. I mean it makes no sense that guys are busy proving themselves everyday and yet they do not get invited. Onuachu tried so much but did he ever get an invite? Onyekuru is probably going to come to this match against Seychelles and sit on the bench, players that deserve the invitation are overlooked for other below par players. |
elyte89:I think you all are underestimating the effect of Buhari's spat with Nnamdi Kalu then. The fact of the matter is that the man managed to gather enough supporters, in fact about 90% of Igbo people scattered all across Nigeria are supporting him and that means they are against Buhari. In this analysis you gave now (although it actually looks correct) you have totally neglected the eastern and western parts forgetting that they too constitute voters and because of the kind of publicity this election is getting, the number of voters coming out from there would be twice as much as it was last election. I guess you are a proper northern resident because you broke it down very well. But let's take Kwankwaso for example, he will win Kano hands down and his support base in Kaduna too which I have seen is massive add to that the fact that Jonathan, the main voice of the South South would invariably be supporting anybody that the PDP presents while PDP's alliance with APGA means probably a clean sweep for any PDP candidate in the East, an alliance with the West is usually quite tricky but can be navigated since Buhari through Tinubu already disappointed the westerners so possibly a strong base in the West too then you will realise that Kwankwaso for example would have succeeded in breaking up the support for Buhari in the north whilst staking a claim in other parts of the federation and that's how elections are won. forget those other pretenders |
safarigirl:In 2015 Jonathan didn't cover himself in glory at all, his loss was as clear as the noon day sun even before January of 2014. Buhari merely took advantage of the collapsing ship not this his own ship was the strongest either. The other thing that Buhari benefited from was that coalition and a lot of the top dogs were part of it, rigging wise he had the base, money wise he had the base too and support wise he was there, right now he no longer has that coalition, he hardly has the support base either and we can only say he has the financial base as at now. OK let's say someone like Kwankwaso wins(who I will be voting for come the primaries)Kano and Kaduna would be won easily by the PDP no doubt at all, that would have already put the cat among the pigeons for Buhari and since APGA(the self acclaimed Igbo party) is in an unspoken alliance with PDP, they'd possibly run away with the eastern votes too. The western voters are still there for the taking and I believe Tinubu's influence there has waned seriously. The only reason why Buhari may even smell anything would be if APGA brings out a strong contender(that would split the eastern votes) and maybe another party brings out a western contender too, other than that Buhari isn't going to see anything. Forget all these ALSO-RANS that you are talking about. A few years from now you will see them occupying ministerial and ambassadorial roles and they will eventually retire on a fat pension living in well furnished houses, that's the aim for them. The problem though is that they do not understand that their presence is Buhari's advantage. If all the other parties in Nigeria can merge(or at least the top ones) like they did in the 2015 election and they collectively back one representative this election is done and dusted for them, take that to the bank any day. This is exactly why I love the US' system too. Meanwhile what I want to know is who you will be voting for, who you think will win because you are voting for them, forget who the market women will vote for, that won't reduce the value of your vote one bit |
safarigirl:Why would someone still be supporting Buhari? Or are you suggesting that the election has already been rigged because that is the only way he could possibly stand a chance, but now even the people that could help him rig the election are against him. This election solely lies on who PDP presents as their flag bearer |
Icon4s:well what it means is that at least I have seen you backing almost any player the coach invites so I can't say you are hypocritical |
Humility017:I would advise you to look up the meaning of that word 'hypocrite' before you use it again. |
TheGoodJoe:I think you should stick to doing his campaigns sha ![]() |
Kog45:I always try to talk football straight. At least devoid of insults but sometimes they just go personal and I have no other option but to say one or two things. I am sorry though but him making reference to a psychological example of learning is quite retarded if he doesn't understand what it is all about |
TheGoodJoe:Who is Fela Durutoye? |
BascoVanVeli:Babylonians probably |
Kog45:Sir you get time for hypocrites like that, people whose bread and butter is bashing Ighalo but will go to the most delusional length to back up another average player that they love. If na person like Icon4s wey talk I would ignore(even Tbaba has his own dislike for Ighalo) but people like these ones here? Pure hypocrites |
sontoly:I am seriously trying to figure out what my business with Vardy is. Am I a Leicester fan? is Vardy a Nigerian? For all I care he can kick out at the ref and get banned for life how will that affect anything I am attached to? If Iheanacho gets frustrated and kicks out(like he did when he was subbed against Algeria) then it's my business because he is a SE player do you now get that? By the way people will hear you saying Nacho got an assist not knowing that its false. He had a cross which was half-cleared by a defender and it fell for the eventual goalscorer who tucked it away, I thought an assist means that you got the last touch before the player who scored? That won't be recorded as an assist mind you, except you make it one in your own stat book. Finally I am not an authority in Psychology but I do know that learning by reinforcement is an influential type. Nacho had a 5/10 game which is average at best and you are here saying he had a decent game? If the people close to him are telling him also that 5/10 is a good performance then that means they are reinforcing him positively and he will be having 5/10 games constantly |
