This is the intolerant spirit we must all combat here to create an open, thriving space for discussions and avoid a repeat of what played out not too long ago.
They have a different opinion on Mikel. Mickael2 is almost habitually negative in his views which you can either respect or ignore(his comments prick me raw but I do respect them). People disagree - Doesn't mean they are haters. Please quit this stance of tarring others who disagree with you with the tar brush of hatred. It doesn't help create an atmosphere for fruitful engagement. Please enlarge your heart. Cheers
Much respect for this article, much much respect

that's what I want you to see, the bigger picture, each club have their legend who are you to dispute it with the individual club, we are not talking world legend here. what you are doing is like a Kenyan telling a Nigerian jayjay is not a Nigeria legend bcoz he has no nations cup medal nor has he won African best player.
if you are a writer you will know that proof-reading is best done by a different person, not the author. Sentiments may cloud your judgement(it affects everybody even me) but it won't hold sway for an outsider. I have always loved Mikel, where do you think my name came from? When I was in the university we played a tournament and that was how I got Mikel as my nickname but I told them I'd rather be original and took Mickael, so you can't doubt my love for Mikel Oga, but the truth has to be said

Omo, e don do. It has been established on this thread that Mikel is a football and Chelsea legend all wrapped in one without a single FIFA XI nomination to show for it. Make una Goodnight

He sprinted away from the player does not make that Okocha's style of play. Mikel has sprinted away a lot of times but that does not make Mikel a pacy player. Ha.
I can't remember the last time Mikel outpaced an opponent

Yes he was their captain at some point but in no way is/was he a Madrid legend. That is the thing, just because you play very well for a team over a long stretch does not automatically make you a legend. Hierro would probably make it into the best 50 madrid players ever but that does not make him a club legend, Mikel wouldn't even make it into Chelsea's top 50 players(he probably should though but he is black)

TheGoodJoe:
I argue what I know. Wait. Are you talking of Hierro?

Jesu. Hierro is a Legend of Madrid and also a football Legend. That I not up for debate. That guy who gave Raul that Super pass and assist against us. Then scored that beautiful freekick against the Psychological unprepared Peter Rufai.

I think he was Captain of Madrid for long and also captained Spain.

As if Busquets will play all the wings. You goofed not knowing Mascherano is a Barcelona legend. Know need to try to cover it with salad. cheesy
what Busquets does affects all the wings so yeah, he does dictate how all the wings are played

He is not fast.. we know what fast is in football.. So give me an instance of what you just watched. Did the player catch up on him? What really happened?
i think it was Bolton against Manu, he sprinted away from his marker(and the guy wasn't able to keep up) before he unleashed a strike. This was from his Bolton days, when you watch his matches for PSG you will see what he brings

typical. I have already pointed out that Mikel was a great player for Chelsea who deserves a place in their history but not their legend, how does that make me a hater? Whenever you criticise a nigerian you become his/her hater? Will hating on Mikel increase my salary? Or will it elevate me to the rank of a consultant in 2months?

what has making FIFA to 50 got to do with club, clubs choose their legend and not FIFA, joetex frimpong is a legend for enyimba, verdy, mahrez, Kante, okazaki etc are legends for Leicester, Mikel is a Chelsea legend bt shevy who made FIFA top 3 is not a Chelsea legend, hope you grab.
did Shevy make that top 3 while playing for Chelsea? Nop, and isn't he an AC Milan legend? Yep

Giggs did not do it internationally for him but his longevity in Manchester United makes him a footie legend and not just a Manchester United legend.

His accolades is in respect of his Manchester United performances but doing it for so long makes him a footie legend. Gerrit?
ok so your point is that longetivity is a sure sign of legendary status? Have you heard of Hierrerio before(hope that's the spelling), from Madrid, do you know how long he stayed there and was a regular player too but is he a legend?

the thing is YAYA'S IMPACT @Barca is nothing Compared to Mikel's IMPACT @Chelsea, if I was lucky to sit on Barca's bench during their champions league winning campaign I too will v a champions league medal. u get?

the IMPACT over a LONG PERIOD is what stood MIKEL out. yes MIKEL won the Afcon before YAYA.

another thing, Mikel SURVIVED over 13 managers in one team before Conte came, but YAYA in his prime lost out under only the 3rd manager. Mikel survived different philosophies even when he was in form, out of form, inside form, on top of form he was always innit.
funny enough Yaya Toure wasn't just sitting on the bench during his time at Barca(that was Keita you saw there brocheesy) and he was an active member of the squad, even started the champions league final.

Yaya's impact at Man City is ARGUABLE better than Mikel's impact at Chelsea, I mean he won the PFA award didn't he?

I didn't know winning the Afcon first is also a title?

Yaya is no longer in his prime. When Yaya was 30 he was tearing up the Epl not China. And Yaya's case is far far different. He was relegated to the bench because of disciplinaries issues not football-related issues

Thank you for your exceptional point. Even though Giggs did not cross over to do it in the International stage, his longevity which spans almost two decades raises his status to legendary because Giggs did it for so long at a very high level.

Thanks man.

Excuse me are there just 11 world class player playing every year? there are many exceptional players who miss out of the FIFA 11 and dat doesn't devalue their talents and qualities most of the times the trophy winning teams like BARCA and Madrid dominates the fifa 11 and say bayern but that doesn't mean legends don't exist in other parts of Europe and elsewhere. if u use ur logic then people like Giggs isn't a legend cuz he never played a major international tourney abi? remember unknown players from Saudi and Honduras players do make the World cup.
who said anything about international tourney again? Christ! And I am not complaining that he never made the FIFA XI but he never even made the list of nominees which includes close to 50-70 players, that is not so great

Mascherano has been in Barcelona for about Seven years and won this:

Barcelona
La Liga: 2010–11, 2012–13, 2014–15, 2015–16
Copa del Rey: 2011–12, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2016–17
Supercopa de España: 2011, 2013, 2016
UEFA Champions League: 2010–11, 2014–15
UEFA Super Cup: 2011, 2015
FIFA Club World Cup: 2011, 2015

And you want us to believe he is not a Legend at Barcelona. Fear God.
should I show you Pinto's trophy cabinet as well? Winning a lot of trophies with the team as a regular does not make you a legend. During that run, there were times when he was on the bench for Puyol, on the bench for Busquets(yes Busq played as the CB sometimes), on the bench for Batra etc etc, so he was a valuable part of the team but he wasn't irreplaceable. Remove Busquets from Barcelona and you have won the game, that is a legend

sir. I'm fully aware of that. but there is a difference, a big difference. sheb Gervihno too has an AFCON medal does that put the 3 of them on the same level or status?
you said if you remove his Man City era then he has nothing. Well he has the champions league for Barca and an Afcon for CIV, so his own Afcon is different from Mikel's own?

As I said, Mikel’s style is not flamboyant and gets overlooked. You do not see him running and panting like a tiger on the filled and he gets overlooked. But, to the team, he was reliable and key to their trophy reign.

He must not get nominated before his pivotal role deserve respect. Even though he did not get the nomination, his longevity in the role certifies him. Especially with the team winning loads of trophy.

Simple. Gerrit?
so he is a legend who was never even nominated for the FIFA XI never mind getting into the team? Ok

Wasn't "FAMOUS"huh??!!!!!!

Does "Famous " now v a different meaning which I don't know. why do u guys like antagonising him?

OK I think it's high time u people stopped this Mikel argument. the guy x a chelsea legend so nobody's opinion cam change that. I mean comparing Yaya at barca to Mikel at Chelsea. remove Man City era from Yaya's career and the rest is average. but unless u remove chelsea era from Mikel's career u can't render him average cyz he still has the AFCON & the FIFA recognition. 2nd behind Messi no b beans abeg.

if he were white u guys disputing him wouldn't be doing that, referring him to people like Pinto?? that useless goalkeeper. he was long at barca coz they really had no need for a 2nd goalkeeper during that period values had little to do as number 1.
Yaya Toure also has an Afcon and he was very very good at Barcelona too, maybe you should check the stats

Mascherano was brilliant at Liverpool and a brilliant shield during a nice time and when they clinched the Champions League.

Moved to Barcelona, and despite in an unfamiliar role, reigned in another trophy filled time.

For Argentina was a Regular for them in when they reached the Copa America finals. Then had a brilliant World Cup performance, being one of their best players and reaching the final.

Mascherano, Legend Certified.
he is a legend but not a barcelona legend

gerrit?

Comprehend. Longevity. He was not a regular shield for a long period. Even in that season he was not 100% a shield. Mikel was. For a decade. The point is too simple.

What is the difference between pacy and fast? Pacy is more of like a player who relies on his speed but a fast player is a player who has the speed although he may not use it unless the situation calls for it. Okocha was fast but he relies more on skills

Gerrit?

TheGoodJoe:
Look at the person who is talking highlights. I watched Okocha regularly 90 minutes. Watched some of his best games without highlights. Okocha is not a pacy player.

Okocha relies on tricks to get past players. Not speed.

Stop acting as if you can not comprehend a very simple and well laid out reason why Mikel is a Legend.

Multiple tourneys but Domestic and European. Longevity at a high level. Then making a major impact domestically.

And yes, Mascherano is a Legend.

Kroos was not shield. He played the role in some games but that was not his regular role. If I am correct, Kroos even played in front of Alonso. Ha.
that year the midfield was mainly Kroos-Modric-James with Kroos as the Dmf/shield totally for a whole season, I don't know why you are saying sometimes.

Meanwhile even the season he played as a shield he was still nominated, your point is?

I wonder who will tag Okocha pacy. Unless he has not watched Okocha before.
Okocha is fast as simple as that. Is it thesame Okocha? Maybe you need to watch his highlights for Bolton again, if you see the speed he uses to hit teams on the counter you will not say what you just said. Maybe you can only recall his last years as a footballer, there is no shame in that, the human brain can be funny sometimes

Kroos has Casemiro today behind him. Even at Bayern, he had shields behind him. Busquets plays in one of the most offensive sides for club and country in the history of the game.

Matic and Kante do not have the Longevity yet. Matic has come under heavy criticism a lot of causing the team problems. So making list of FIFA is not a stamp of Legendary.

The point is clear but you still want to argue.
when did Casemiro start playing for Madrid? And Kroos was the Dmf all along, even when they won the UCL.

Ok I don't understand how this explains your point. I said Busquets and Kroos have been nominated for the FWBP despite playing as the defensive shields for their teams but Mikel hasn't even been nominated for the FIFA XI, why is that if he is that much of a legend?

I want to think that Mikel was more a holding defensive midfielder -- specialized defensive midfielder. Thats the aspect I think we are talking about. There are not many players that play that role. Makalele will be a good example.
that defines precisely what Busquets does for Barcelona but that hasn't prevented him from being nominated for the accolades.

Ok, during his best patch was Mikel ever included in the FIFA best XI? Atleast there is always a DMF there, he has never even been nominated for that one as well

Shields are underrated and overlooked a lot.

Ramos goes front during Corners while others shield. I think until Gus Hiddink's second return, Mikel was among the most popular and trusted by the managers to shield even during corners.

That is why he was overlooked but key.

I believe I mentioned Busquets and Maldini, please put forth your excuses for them as well
