ogu has been in the team for some time now,he understood how the team plays,he can easily replace any of the midfielder depending on the formation without any any problem,he is also a better passer of the ball than joel obi,his size is also a plus .
what is Joel's middle name? You have never watched the guy play football

Joel Obi - I definitely hope so

Enyeama - Only if he finds a club ASAP. Rohr ain't ready to take clubless players to the World Cup

Ikeme - I definitely pray and hope that he fully recovers very soon. And by the way, if I knew him personally, I would've advised him to get a second and even a third opinion on that diagnoses. A few people I know were given wrong diagnoses by their NBA and NFL doctors .... if not for second opinions, these guys would not be playing today. And I actually heard that stuffs like that are very common but the doctors like to protect each other.

O pari
Let me ask you an honest question. Would you choose Ezenwa from IU Fc over a clubless Enyeama?

You see this is why I hate interacting with dimwits. So mickael2 is now being 'bitchy and blabbing nonsense?' I am now going very low because I have a 'psychological problem', please for those who saw that senseless and utterly stupid comment from theSuperNerd y'all should come and speak up now. Icon4s I have respected you well enough but this one makes no sense. Of everybody that said that Pietrico had no option but hit below the belt it is only mickael2 that has a 'psychological problem'. I am going to bottle up my emotions for now though, I have an exam coming up soon so if nobody calls him to order from now till when I am done with my exams next two weeks then y'all had better be ready for a seriously heated round 2

my thoughts exactly, we need luck as well, we bossed the game against France in 2014 but fell short cos onazi was taken off.
we fell short because we got a penalty in the first half when Evra was holding Osaze during a corner kick, the ref saw it but because no nigerian player complained he didnt give the penalty but later went over to warn Evra. We lost that game because when we were a goal down, Mikel got a blatant chance which he missed, with that chance in the back of the net we would have dragged the game to penalties and, ofcourse, Enyeama saves.

Highly Seconded. It's better to have peace, it's better to resolve this thing once for all. I nominate You, kog45 and tbaba1234 as members of the reconciliation team. Others can have positive input. Both of them erred.

Let me also say this generally it would greatly help if we all have the mind of Seun who owns nairaland who is self effacing and has no sense of entitlement. My thread, my thread, our thread, our thread no be am if it leads us to erecting walls around opinions we feel are sacrosanct. No opinion is unassailable. Again I tell you that views can be disagreed with in a most polite way and maybe even strongly without insults and name calling and put downs. Sometimes we do not have patience with contrary opinions. Not good enough please. I don't enjoy the dark views of Mickael2 but I know we need that healthy dose of scepticism for the sake of balance(fact is I don't like it but I like it). It's not for nothing that he and nerd do clash often(some have erroneously interpreted it as envy). He is the counterpoint to nerd's enthusiastic and positive views. Goodjoe always uses humour to blunt the edge of the axe of criticism and sometimes insults. Komekn is truly a British man, highly cultured and urbane.

Hello everyone, been one of those ,that have been following this thread ,from day 1, from first page..

I have Never intended to post anything, but to just read ,and learn from great analyst here.

But the situation of things here is not good, and the thread needs to heal, so as one of elders of the readers crew, we agree that thesupernerd, is one of those, that reading his posts, excites us.., so we are not happy he left.. Buhhhh, opening his own thread is not a bad thing, but the series of thing that happened before it, is very bad

Now , the supernerd, correct guy, I like you, but truth is, you have broken some people heart by leaving, note(not because of opening your own thread),; but by leaving, when they asked you not to.. Not cool, they see you as family..

Now safari, honestly, i think you chased supernerd away, wait for it, don't get pissed yet, not intentionally tho, see ehn, that guy likes you, so it got to him that, that you called him "rude," it showed that you are a good friend by doing that, yes, buh you were probably too honest, and maybe you should HV been more pragmatic about it, the bluntness shocked him, e pain am, as a friend, he didn't expect the bluntness and the harshness I of the statement..

And the end of the day, thanks to all of you who keep educating me'\us on this thread..

there's a popular saying if it ain't broke don't fix it so its only logical we continue to use a formation that has worked thus far for us. i watched rohr's interview on channels tv and he explained that as much as 4-2-3-1 is the base formation depending on how the match is progressing can switch to 4-5-1, 4-3-3 or even 4-4-2.

well yes the SA match was poor all round but sometimes having the best tactics may not be enough if your players are unable to carry out the game plan.

bar one or two players the list is largely ok. i still expect moses simon to start ahead of iwobi because of the former's defensive discipline.
if there's any change i would make to our starting XI it would be for rohr to be brave and start aina ahead of echeijile.

let's continue to be humble and focused

LET'S GO SUPER EAGLES AND FINISH THE JOB IN UYO
I agree sha but the sooner we fix it ourselves before someone exposes it the better for us. I mean we need to improve because this team isn't the finished article yet else Spain....hmmmm

And when we won the first leg, did we not play our wingers or use the wings? Watch the highlights again.

If it ain't broke, no fixing needed.
against Zambia we played Iwobi, we only had one functional wing(MS's wing) and it was hardly functional. Our main play came through the middle mainly

Are you serious? Then maybe all the attempts at goal from Moses and Simon came from the midfield then.

Bro, Rohr will decide who gets to play, as for me, I want our wingers to remain and trouble the full backs of Zambia that day. When they have alot to deal with, they wouldn't even remember to forge forward to trouble us.

Our 2 goals against Zambia in the first leg came from the wings I think.
one of our goals was the brilliant interplay between Nacho and Ideye. If you remember that match, you will recall that the Zambians had a lot of joy down the flanks and created many chances, thanks be to God for Ikeme sha. I am making these suggestions solely on how our last match against them panned out. I don't see why a midfield combo of Mikel-Onazi-Ndidi with Iwobi helping out won't be able to hold their own against Zambia!

I hate I when people have superiority complex and he displayed that. My mother has been insulted countless times on Nairaland, did I accuse the whole world of the insults?

If he thinks this is a one-off, he is wrong. As long as he keeps hitting people, many more of his relatives will be dragged into insults by people who have no scruples. You cannot throw dirt at someone and dictate what he throws at you.

You are talking like they also don't have their own midfielders, can you play within the midfield alone for 90 mins? What happens when they keep sending balls to the wings from the back while the SE pack themselves in the midfield? You want to play within the midfield while exposing your wings?
if we win the midfield battle then they will result to long balls to the wings, last I checked our fullbacks are tall and that would be to our advantage.

I said we should attack through the middle not keep the ball in midfield for 90mins, how will you score if you do something like that?

So you think we don't need wing play because Zambians use the wing? Seems you have forgotten that our attackers that give opponents problems are wingers? Shehu is fast and Simon too, both can collabo, the only issue here is Ederson. He's not fast, only if Onajzi and Moses are to assist him. The best form of defence remains to attack. Iwobi is not even good at holding ball, that's the job of Mikel, we need our wingers badly since Zambians don't even play midfield football. You neutralize threat with equal threat, not reducing your fire power.

Let's just wait and see what Rohr has in stock for us, he's in charge and knows his players better than us.
most of the chances we created were not from the wings. VicMo was always running into the middle, only SM was creating width back then. Not to mention that we have enough firepower in the middle with Ighalo's recent form.

Now let me make it easier, if we can manage to keep 60% of our possession in the middle of the pitch, then the Zambians might get 6-7 oppurtunities to make some moves through the wings, that means our fullbacks will only have to sprint 4-5 times each half and they can cope with that well. But if we start attacking through the wings exclusively, then our fullbacks may have to sprint like 10times per half and that's where the problem comes in. I didn't say we won't attack through the wings, just minimal attacks

why do you think so,??... if you ask me I'll go for simeon...
iwobi is too slow for my liking!!!
exact reason why I would start him. Some games need to be slow to favour us, like this match now. The Zambians would want a fast-paced game so they can use their quick wingers to devastating effect

Nah, the MS of the last 2 matches shouldn't be benched for AI. Doesn't make any professional sense. AI can't even function well from the wings and yes, we are to go out there for a win. No sitting back, we don't want any 89th minutes goal from Zambia.
not that we won't attack, no. Have you seen the pace of these Zambians on the wing? Coming up against them on the wing will be a serious problem because we don't have speedy fullbacks who can cope, so the idea is to make sure the bulk of the game is played in the middle of the pitch were we have our own advantage(s) and this can be achieved easily by playing Iwobi(not that MS isn't a good option but the opponent determines the team for me)

Joebie:
If you wan't chemistry, you need to have a healthy measure of continuity. This has helped us to a large extent during the qualification. National football is no club football. Friendlies will be lined up. Some new players will be integrated, as the process of integration does not happen overnight. The likes of Onyekuru, and even Kayode will take a while to really announce their coming to the SE fold. We all know how long it took Ighalo before he just now made it to the core of the SE. Some of these players will be left out, but later given a second chance. Then they will snatch it like they have never done. Ask Ighalo.
Whether you like Rohr or not, he will go in the history books as our best coach, if we go beyond the second round. I think he is the best for Nigeria, because many foreign coaches will not be able to cope with NFF and their money issues. Rohr is ideal because he is hungry for success -- not for money. Tactically speaking, how would you rather have played those matches leading to our position now in qualification?
apart from Echejile I did not mention any starter so I don't think replacing them will affect the team chemistry one bit. We are still building that we all know, we already have a starting XI so now we should be looking at a bench that can provide something better than the starters or atleast something close to that level, Uche Agbo at CB or Ahmed Musa at WF isn't a step in that direction. However I get your point about team chemistry, but all to his own.

Tactical managers are managers who can pull off something extraordinary. Rohr hasn't done that, we have one stagnant formation, every substitution we make during the game is just the same as removing a 2ohm resistor from a standard resistor and trying to replace it with another 2ohm resistor, no diversity at all, 4-2-3-1 till thy kingdom come. When tactical awareness was needed against SA well we came up short and we blamed it on the absence of key players but top teams don't blame any loss on the injuries to key players. Iniesta is a great player but without him, Spain would still field a strong team with another formation, that is because the coach is tactical

To displace who?
Moses Simon. I don't think we will be going for an all out wing-play against the Zambians and that's why I think he will start. Concerning his defensive frailities, when we lose possession he can easily get into the middle of the picth while Ndidi drops back to the Dmf position, Onazi switches to a LCB while Shehu switches to a WB and pushes high the pitch to start the press, easy thing to do
