Even if you write the exam ehn, you'd probably get admitted and then what? spend 4/5+x years studying a counrse your mates spend less time studying abroad and still not know as much as they do. E |
Politics / Re: Buhari To Attend Nuclear Security Summit In Washington by mickey45: 1:13am On Mar 10, 2016 |
Allwility: Nigeria's uranium is already being mined by Chinese through using our Majors and Generals. go scout out konduga in Borno state. kay29000: Nigeria has a fully fledged Agency for such duties, the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NNRA) and they're quite well staffed. They've been doing a good job so far monitoring compliance in the use of radioactive materials in the O n G industry. your concern is however not invalid as the article below shows http://spectator.org/articles/63620/saving-niger%E2%80%99s-uranium-boko-haram-gets-it 1 Like |

Politics / Re: The New International Passport And Price by mickey45: 6:35pm On Feb 23, 2016 |
International passport is almost like Dollar supply, The official price for 32pages is 18k but the "parallel market price ranges from 25-28k. While for 64pages, official price is 25k while the "black market" price is anything >/=32k I'd advise you go for it though, unless your intent for it isn't for traveling. And you'd better get it fast before the agents dollar-ise the thing 1 Like |

akanbiaa: This passport blackmarket issue is why the personnel in those agencies (especially immigrations ) will not allow any of such plans to see the light of day. The New NIMC cards shd actually have served the same purpose as a passport, maybe with some small modifications or certification from immigrations but nor be for Naija. Lai-lai..... |

For every blunder, they'll always noisily come up with one harebrained excuse or the other. If it was GEJ, they'd drum or ears deaf with "he's a drunkard" . I wonder what we'll ascribe to PmB. Just let them "kontinu!" At least falling oil price isn't a factor we can blame here. Have you seen lai mohammed's excuse for that shambolic document? 1 Like 1 Share |

HopeAtHand: Agbami is one large field operated by chevron in the Igbokoda/Ilaje area of Ondo State and its a large one at that. Yet its not the only one as I know mobil also operates in the area. So ........ While I see sense if LADOL's yard had been in the Niger Delta. But people don't start such ventures without serious pre-feasibility analysis. So who blames a businessman for siting his business where he desires and is assured of better returns? 1 Like |
Our Civil Servant are even more corrupt than the politicians......
You don't say. I was in a s.western state while it Audited staff demographics about two years ago. Imagine a director whose wife has been taking salaries for 10 yrs as a level 12/17 officer! Yet the woman is at home jobless and never knew of her husband's move. Another had three of his children who were at the time still in secondary school (SS1) on the payroll as Masters grads. Yet over 90% of the state's staff profess a single religion. |

kraftykc: So do I brother, We only need Saudi to dare it's tie with the US ( a relationship that has been hurting its economics lately and which the incoming monarch doesn't seem to favour either, as it was predicated on the US buying OPEC oil which it no longer does) and join Russia in trading oil as well as holding it's reserves in the Yuan and oil shd bounce back some serious bit. Our manufacturing capability will definitely go up some notch. |

Investment / Re: LADOL & Samsung Invest $400m In Vessel Fabrication, Integration Yard In Lagos by mickey45: 3:04pm On Feb 16, 2016 |
kraftykc: This project has been in the works long before now, I think MOU was signed since 2013. It is actually one of the fruits from Maduekwe's local- Content- Policy (which is why I pray Buhari will appoint a fair-minded, indigenous, son-of the soil, petroleum industry insider like Allison in that post) Total awarded it's Latest and Largest FPSO (EGINA) to Samsung heavy Industries. But Samsung was mandated by the Local content bill to partner with an indigenous company to undertake not less than 10% of the jobs in the country. LADOL won the technical partner contract (of course with Tinubu's contacts and perhaps GEJ thinking Tinubu will give him softer landing come 2015) Perhaps as lagos was surely lost vote-wise, GEJ issued a counter directive, close to his departure, mandating Total and Samsung to move the construction yard down to Bayelsa citing its 'closerness' to the site and deeper water levels. Prompting LADOL to go to court then. This news proves the issue has been resolved. It will be disappointing if they fail to fulfill the backward integration vision the country has for them starting from local sourcing of consumables etc. They (samsung Heavy ) and NLNG have been jointly moving Nigerians to Korea for training on Welding, fabrication and shipbuilding. Perhaps they'll now employ them into full term work. That is the beauty of Civilian Govt. AustineE1: GoodBoi1: 1 Like |

hungryboy: And give the money to your State Governors? What have they done with the 13% derivation fund so far? Corruption or not, each agency will play its part (however small) in improving the people's livelihood. You add up those multi-lateral trickles and you'd get a pool. But you waiting for the state governors to come do these intervention projects will surely take a longer while. |

While I trust the Russians to still be able to put the structure back in place efforts should be made to get indigenous but experienced Project managers to analyze it's profitability. I somehow think Dangote and others would've bought it up since if the margin was that encouraging. Otherwise, we should just obey Lord keynes and focus on areas where we have real competitive advantage, economic success is first a matter of what you should do than what you'll like to do. New Zealand has a well developed dairy system, they supply more than half of Asia's beef and dairy, solid minerals is to Australia what Oil is to us and they have well developed structures for it. it's time we grow our own engine, with our own template and stop all this copying or at least copy and adapt to local conditions like the Chinese did. Irrespective of what we may all think, the market always speaks, and you had better listen to it than pay for your disobedience. We're in a financial mire presently, the current budget despite it's (resource wasting appropriations) is almost entirely to be debt financed. we need every revenue generating avenue we can and serious exportation would have saved us like it did China, India et. al but these export avenues have been cornered by our "honourable men" as their territories. a popular "Oga at the top" runs cassava exportation and others, another set of "Ogas at the top" currently export solid minerals with tacit supports and Nigeria is left to fend for herself. If we want this country built, all we need is everyone's unreserved patriotism. I've decided to do the best I can in my own little corner, many thanks to cooljade and others who are fighting tooth and nail for this, tributes to all the philantropists especially in the jobs/vacancies sections. it's the least people can do to make the officials notice the discontents in Nigerians' hearts. |

ozor1: I can point you to myriads of "we will revive Ajaokuta complex" comments from 1999 till date.... that place remains as it is... Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigeria Metallurgical Society have presented presented plenty Ajaokuta related papers before now. I expect some shakara from this people but there's dreams, then there's facts and we know which judgements should be made with. Ask any current Metallurgical engineer who knows what the current metal exchange market speak and you'll know that part of the economy isn't inviting for now. But white elephant or not, I like the fact that youths are now gradually demanding answers from their leaders and that's a good place to start. we'll never know all that went down with Ajaokuta, but at least more people are now aware of its plight. Anyone can as well revive talks about Nigeria's Aluminium refining plant in Akwa-ibom. it's also suffering the same fate currently, except it has once worked for a while before our "Nigerian Factor" set in, Ditto for "Olua Glass company" the only Glass company in W. Africa, a company which is now moribund but whose then directors and principal officers are rumored to majorly be millionaires in their own rights currently. |
