my guy this is another injustice in Nigerian judiciary system. I don't understand this country called Nigeria and that might be the reason why some ethinc group wants to pull out from it. How on earth will a right thinking judge sentence a thief that stole that amount of money to death by hanging and sentence another person that stole 2.2 billion niara 74 days in prison with an option of paying 3 million naira fine.
A shameless country.

He shd've gone to rob rich men, not further compound the poor's problem.
Imagine someone going to feed his family with 5k for the month getting dispossessed of that money, it's more wicked than stealing 500k from a wealthy politician.

By the way, the law's judgment for armed robbery is clear once guilt is established.

Attempts shd be made to define clear judgment on corruption's variants too.

Let us hope humanitarian orgs. Will be able to help him out, Getting sentenced 12years after arrest (taking it he was caught in the same 2003), is enough suffering already.

Family / Re: This Is What My House Help Did To Me by mickey45: 10:40pm On Nov 23, 2015
Rukemi291:
I work with a very wonderful organization and as my job demands, one of my very crucial academic meetings is always held outside Nigeria.

I am also married with a 1yr 11 month old son and pregnant (few weeks gone).... My husband works and lives in a town that is 4hours away from Lagos where I work.

The need for a house help arose when morning sickness started. So I told a lot of people in the office that I needed a girl. Luckily one of the staff told me she could help me send down her half sister who is 15years old and her mum can no longer carter for because they are poor. She said she's also with the girl's elder sister.

I spoke with the girl's mum, she was so excited and prayed for me and all she requested was for her girl to go to school. I promised her that the girl would go to school. The girl was brought to me on 19th October.

So I went in search of a school and I was lucky she was admited into a Lagos State Government School that is close by. The principal said that it was late actually but she doesn't want the girl to be idle at home, so she could resume immediately but her academic session would be from January. I paid all d fees and got her two sets of uniform. She started school early this month.

My son has also started school, so she drops him in school and picks him up when she's back too.

Fast forward to this time, d official assignment that would take me away from the country was close. I couldn't risk leaving her in Lagos with my super active toddler for almost two weeks that I would be away. I had to take them to my husband.

Early on Thursday, 19th, I received a call that my girl had left home with her belongings and she left a note that she was angry with me that I did not let her go to school and that if not that she loved my son ehn.....

My husband's job is a shift- based job and he was on night duty to be back home by 8am the morning she left.

A neighbour called my husband who was at work that the girl took my son to them very early in d morning that we sent her on an errand and that they should borrow her N500. They took my son from her and told her to wait for my husband to return. They said they did not know when she left.

The girl scattered the whole house took all the pieces of meat in d pot, the juice packs at home. I Knew she wouldn't get money, my husband isn't as careless.

My husband spoke with her mum that didn't sound surprised and all she said was that she would scold her when the girl comes home. Yes, d girl is home now.

I was devastated and destabilized for two days. I never ever maltreated this girl. My conscience is as clear as a gallon of distilled water.

Well, my son is now with my mum.

My mum also spoke with her mum that the girl said neighbors were calling her omo-odo (house girl). She left the 6th day she got there. We stay in a compound of 5 flats where everyone minds his business. So who called her a house-girl.

I think the mistake we made was that we got her a phone and even loaded the phone. My husband said he noticed she was always calling someone and he once heard her telling the receiver the address of where she was.

I really wish to visit her mum when I return and I hope to see her and ask her questions.

I really appreciate my family for staying with me throughout this period and I'm glad I'm not hypertensive maybe I'd have lost this pregnancy. And I thank God most that she didn't hurt my son because I never hurt her.

Well, it's all good. Life goes on.

I am not trying to discourage people from getting house helps....

Perhaps a distant relation will do this better?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How I Lost Two Jobs I Needed Today. by mickey45: 10:39pm On Nov 23, 2015
Sashafm:
One of my greatest selling point had always been the fact that I am very outspoken. Well that advantage turned into a great disadvantage for me today sad. I have always heard about people saying how they kept on saying rubbish at interviews and they new it but could not stop themselves, that was exactly what happened to me today.

Today I woke up very optimistic, I had an interview in V.I, that was number one and another job consideration, number two. In which, conversations had already begun on it.
I got to the venue of my first interview very early and I was person the first person to be interviewed. After the interview I got a call to come back for another testing to decide who will get the job. I was already congratulating myself, only for me to shoot myself in the leg sad sad as my brain was coordinated but my words refused to follow suit when asked what I thought of the job.

Alas , my mouth started spewing out jargon about how not tasking enough the job was, shuuuu shocked shocked for someone that has been sitting down at home for over a month after service. I tried to rephrase my words but Iro o, the deed had already been done. After listening to my self and seeing the expression of the interviewer, I new even I wouldn't employ myself. I was devastated at how, so close to the job I was and how I lost it to over-zealousness.
Not long after that I was dismissed while, the other girl girl stayed behind. That was when I realized the gravity of what my mouth had done, I already passed all the test to the best of my ability but why would you tell an interviewer that the work is not mentally challenging enough!!! who does that

Now the second one was supposed to be easy, as the owner of the business has already called me and I thought we were on track only for me to return back b from the island and receive a message about how someone else closer to the office has been found and even had an experience in customer service. Alas that was the Last straw, I received the message and I WEPT.

The Wonderful Creator gave us two ears and just a mouth,
Surprisingly, both ears are closer to the brain than the mouth is,
So words/questions heard through the ears shd be sent to the brain, processed before responding with the mouth.

Gaffes (costly ones sometimes) are always made when one short-circuits this network. And who doesn't sometimes?.

It's exactly what you thought, which I believe is actually true that your heart and mouth spoke, you just didn't think it over.

I take it you're a driven person so you'd probably have hated the job and its monotony.

Not the end of the world though, better ones are ahead.

Btw, if you're still interested in customer service gigs, maybe you should try out "jooble" and ngcareers

While only those who work there can debunk it
Rumours have it that the so-called drivers cum truck managers have very tight targets to meet within short times hence their breakneck speeds.

A good number of lives were also lost at the toll gate intersection along the lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
They just navigate bends anyhow.

For such drivers/managers who might be here, please do remember "Soja go Soja com", barak go remain o!

I graduated in 2012 and had my NYSC in 2014 but since then getting a meaning job has been a major challenge for me. Though after my NYSC,I opened an hair dressing salon for my wife in my hometown but after few months, she asked if we can relocate to abuja(where we met). After so many pressures from her,she moved to Abuja sometime in March,2015 and i later joined her in April after she secured an apartment i paid for. I stayed idle(after many job search) for two months before i got somewhere(through nairaland). As a graduate,i was earning 20k per month and transportation to work in month cost about 9-10k. Due to stress,i left the place after 3months. Now,this is November, no job and my wife is threatening to leave me,for reason that she hasn't experience hardship when she was alone. Please advice me on what to do friends.

Why not learn a trade say barbing (3 months max.) asap? At least to keep body and soul together till you get a job that will elevate your status.
You can even do it such that you only open for business in the evenings and weekends to allow you time and money for job-hunting during the week.
Plus how have you two been surviving with both of you still trusting God for work?

Guy, the truth is that you just need to try. You say you love staying indoors. It is difficult to improve your social life by staying indoors. You need to go out more. Attend office event, friend's birthdays, weddings, etc. From there, you will meet more people and they will invite you to more functins. You start gradually and begin to feel more comfortable.

Most guys conversation center on Sports, Politics and Business. If you are comfortable discussing those three, you should be fine. If you do not already support a team, I will recommend Chelsea FC. They have the best coach in the world and are positioned to win lots of trophy.

Arsenal never wins anything and Liverpool will talk about 25 years ago. Man Utd will never win again and Man City is in transition. So my guy, I recommend Chelsea FC if you are not one of us already.

You still support Chelsea?

Thanks for the understanding, to answer your questions, yes Wike "held sway" the as well.
But you should remember that those other FG scholarships have already established procedure for the selection, so it's much easier to distort this new scholarship than the old ones.
Don't get me wrong am not saying Wike in person has something to do with the 1:99 ratio, but something is definitely wrong with the process, which some of our law makers demanded for the criteria used for the selection, THRICE! but the then ministry of education refused to clarify.

But he's out now, so Buhari could've sanitized the process as he deems fit.
If saving cost is the excuse, there are many other government expenses that deserve such cancellations, take Hajj and Pilgrimage sponsorship for instance.

I never said Wike was the minister during the first batch, I said "held sway" we all know he was more powerful than the Hajiya, no thanks to his rapport with Madam Patience.
I also never mentioned the stats for the first two batches, I only mentioned the last which the Igbos dominated, and which you yourself confirm. Point is no justification could be given why for three consecutive batches not 1% northerners are deemed fit to qualify by using a shoddy process of selection.

Didn't want to say anything but may I ask whether or not the same Wike wasn't in the said posts when PTDF and NITDA were held in these years you mentioned?

And before you say, quota restricted him, "held sway" means he could always poke his hands into all programs given his "rapport with Madam Patience"

It's fine if they cite "funding problem" as reason but they'd have to come up with reasons why PRESSID is the only target.
By the way, PRESSID is the only non-proffessional oriented one of all of them.
PTDF doesn't sponsor development courses....

Such decisions need to be debated before action is taken, but only insiders know what transpired here.

Resolution 5: Approval for the Divestment of Interest in the Gas & Power Business

I wouldn't take that to mean the entire Gas and power chain, perhaps the power part though. And that'll make sense given the hiccups in revenue collection by the DisCos
Holding on to upstream assets can be excused given the near-nothing price they'd have to let off as at now vis-a-vis how much they acquired same.

Only recently has OandO's share price really began to reflect the company's true financial condition.
Plus I don't think they give that much hoot about shareholders.
