Firstly, our foreign missions have failed in their duties hence the need for such stringent measures. Our immigration agency has become a den for voracious unscrupulous men and women who hold no value for the country Nigeria.

Nigerians are smart and gifted, and the few with good heads that contribute to foreign societies are always well respected and rewarded.

The problem is that we don’t have a strong data base for information sharing with foreign agencies. The United States has pointed this out. In several developed countries with as simple as your Social security number or residence permit number all financial, educational and criminal information can be pulled up, and they all will be authentic I must add.

In Nigeria, with a simple affidavit a person’s name changes with no link to the former in some cases, criminal records can be wiped or not recorded, financial records cooked, birth, death and educational certificates questionable.
Worse off our soft-gloves approach to cases of fraud with international interest.

I strongly empathize with honest Nigerians that all they have is good intentions to be upstanding citizens of Nigeria in a distant land but no thanks to our government.

Poorer citizens of developed countries move freely between nations due to the power and authenticity of data base. The home country does its part to flag some persons as menace to society hence the individual cannot be provided travel documents (unless gotten fraudulently) or granted visa. That way miscreants are not given the opportunity to soil the countries image.

I urge everyone to vote right. We need a leader accountable to only Nigerians, not party, not friends, not sponsors. We need a man of prestige and pedigree.

Well said! I cannot count how many times foreign Ambassadors have pointed out how corruption in our government is making it harder for Nigerians to get visa. Most countries use the Corruption perceptions index to set visa requirements. Nigerians should remember this next time they go to vote. Don't go and collect bag of rice and vote for a useless plonker and then start crying later about economic hardship and why it's difficult to obtain a visa.
