Ethiopia Coach Sewnet Bishaw: We Must Score Lots Of Goals Against Nigeria Ethiopia coach Sewnet Bissaw has said that his side must face their last encounter against Nigeria with a lot of hunger for goals if they are to go through to the quarter finals. The Walya Antelopes were defeated 4-0 by ten-man Burkina Faso in the second game of Group C in Mbombela on Friday. Having taken a point in their first game against Zambia, lots was expected from the Ethiopians going into the game against the west Africans but they fell short having lost inspirational forward Adane Girma to injury early. “We didn’t expect this result from the very beginning. We hoped that we would play again like the first game and take a point against Burkina Faso,” said Bissaw. The Antelopes who have a point still have a mathematical chance to qualify for the last eight when they play against the Super Eagles next week. “We’re not going to the field to defend, because defending will only give you one point. Now we must try to play against Nigeria to score goals to have three points. “Maybe if we have three points, totally we will have four points, and we may qualify to the next stage. “Not only will we just score one or two goals, we need to score lots of goals also, otherwise, it is a matter of dignity and to maintain the level of football of our boys,” he said. Ethiopia will play against Nigeria in Rustenburg on January 29. Source: (http:///XHIMTR) |

In life;there's action and Reaction.it's quite unfortunate a lot of humans focus more on reaction. Whereas the genesis of the trouble is d action. Naturally, reaction is opposite but never equal. Finally, Late Actress Bisi Komolafe’s Fiance Speaks Up Nollywood actress Bisi komolafe lost the battle to illness and gave up the ghost over a week ago. However her fiance Tunde Ijaduola has been embroiled in lots of controversy and accusations. He bared his mind in an interview excerpts below: On Bisi’s Jeep and Property I didnt take Bisi’s property. I don’t think it is a proper thing for family members to be fighting me for Bisi’s property less than 24 hours after Bisi’s death when we should be mourning her. Bisi died at age 27 and it is sad. I am sending the Honda Pilot (vehicle) back to them, sadly enough Bisi’s parents do not have issues with me but her extended family members. Please note I have given them time and place to pick the car. On the Accusation that he went back to pack Bisi’s belongings while she was ill I came back to Nigeria on October 24th 2012. Bisi and I left the Ikorodu flat on October 26th 2012 and till now (as I speak), I have never been to the Ikorodu apartment I rented for her. It is shocking what I am hearing. When I meet Bisi, she was living in Ajao Estate and I was the one who rented the Ikorodu apartment for her. On accusations that he was “hiding” Bisi while she was ill I had to change Bisi’s numbers because she needed rest. When she was ill people kept calling her for work. His Opinion on the Cause of Bisi’s Illness It is sad that Bisi died the way she did. One of the main issues between me and her family was that when Bisi’s sickness dragged on, I went spiritual and we were told her problems were spiritual but her family didn’t allow us to take her for spiritual care. “I Loved Bisi” I loved Bisi till she died and she loved me. What property of bisi will I take? Please go and ask about me. I am from a good family background and we are comfortable. My father retired as a permanent secretary in Lagos and I have a thriving car business. On reconciling to his ex-wife after Bisi’s death All that is crap! Till Bisi died she was my wife and I will forever cherish her. Bisi’s death is so sad. May her soul rest in peace. We hope that all family issues are settled as soon as possible. FIFA Accuses Nigeria Of Match-Fixing •We Are Unaware —NFF The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) says it believes 2010 World Cup warm-up match between Nigeria and North Korea in June 2010 could have been pre-arranged. The match was played on June 6 at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa, outside Johannesburg, and Nigeria won the game 3-1. In a report on behalf of FIFA security team, Terry Steans alleged that the match officials led by Niger referee Ibrahim Chaibou were chosen by convicted Singaporean match-fixer Wilson Perumal and his Football 4U organisation. Perumal is believed by both FIFA and Interpol of fixing matches in several countries, standing to make hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal profits. The match-fixing report, which was handed to South Africa Football Association (SAFA), said the Niger referee gave a harsh penalty against North Korea even when it seemed that the Korean defender did not commit an offence. Obinna Nsofor stepped forward to score the resulting penalty in the 62nd minute and double the Eagles’ lead after Yakubu Aiyegbeni had put Nigeria in front. Interestingly, Chaibou was also at the centre in another Eagles’ friendly which has also been listed by FIFA as “suspicious.” Nigeria beat Argentina 4-1 in June 2011 in Abuja with several questionable calls by the Niger referee. However, spokesman for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ademola Olajire, told MTNFootball.com they are unaware of this allegation and have yet to be communicated on it. “We have not been communicated by FIFA on such, so until we get that, we cannot comment about any allegations,” Olajire said. In South Africa, the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) leadership led by president Kirsten Nematandani has been reinstated while a probe into match-fixing allegations continues. http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/sports/item/2481-fifa-accuses-nigeria-of-match-fixing-%E2%80%A2we-are-unaware-%E2%80%94nff Source: (http:///Us16jc) |
NDLEA Arrests Sunny Ade’s Ex-Guitarist With Cocaine Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a popular guitarist, Abiodun Fatoke, with 1.6kg of cocaine. Fatoke, 62, who reportedly played the guitar for music star, King Sunny Ade, for three decades, was caught on January 1, 2013 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while attempting to board an Air France flight to Italy. According to the NDLEA Commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar, operatives of the agency detected two parcels of cocaine that were industrially hidden in the false bottom of the suspect’s luggage. The Head, Public Affair, Mitchell Ofoyeju, told Sunday Punch that Fatoke owned up to the crime and blamed it on financial hardship. Fatoke reportedly said, “After my primary education, I only did one year in the secondary school before I went into music. I can play any kind of guitar but my music career is a sad story. I played for King Sunny Ade for 30 years before I was unceremoniously retired in 2007. I was unprepared and without a severance pay, I saw the bitter side of life. This is my first time of getting involved in drug trafficking. I did it out of frustration because at my age I could not provide for my family. I am ashamed of myself.” According to Fatoke, he got a phone call from a friend, inviting him to Lagos, where he was given N50,000 and was promised more money after the trip. He said, “I live in Ibadan with my family. I was invited to Lagos where I was given N50,000 and they promised that arrangements would be made for me to travel soon. They promised to pay me N1m. “If not for my condition, I would have turned down the offer but it was my last hope to free myself from financial difficulty. I was given the bag and my ticket but NDLEA operatives detected the drug. Since then, I have been in deep pain. I feel bad because I have no one to help me.” Ofoyeju said the suspect would be charged to court for unlawful exportation and possession of narcotics. If convicted, he could spend the next 25 years in prison. Source: (http:///XxzhMk) |
BARELY a week after the governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada, escaped with injury from a ghastly auto accident, which led to the death of his Aide de Camp (ADC), the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Momoh Jimoh Lawal, was also involved in a ghastly auto accident with a police corporal attached to his convoy losing his life. An eye witness account disclosed that the accident occurred on Monday December 31. Wada, who sustained serious injury was just discharged from the hospital where he was receiving treatment in Abuja. The Monday accident, according to the eye witness account, occurred beside Osara village on the Okene—Lokoja- Abuja highway while the speaker was returning from the Christmas celebration. The accident occurred when a heavy duty vehicle was said to have veered from its lane and crashed into the convoy with the speaker narrowly escaping being killed. However, a police corporal attached to the convoy, Lamidi Akeem from Erinle in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State who was said to be injured in the accident, later died on Wednesday morning at a private hospital in Lokoja as a result of injuries sustained. One of the legislators, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident but called on all Nigerians to pray for political leaders in Kogi State saying, “Kogi is passing through a trauma.” He said it was a thing of sadness and concern that another fatal accident occurred barely four days after the state governor’s convoy was also involved in an accident. Felicia, a 22yrs old girl has reportedly commited suicide in calabar. ccording to sources, this followed a misunderstanding with her aunt, Agnes, with whom she was living in Ikom, central Cross River State, Nigeria. A large crowd gathered on Saturday afternoon at the scene of the incident. The girl, who wrote the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in May 2012 at the Government Secondary School, Ikom, was a long standing maid to Agnes, the younger sister to the father of the deceased. “She had been living with me since she was three when her father died and I have been treating her as my daughter,” Agnes said while sobbing. The girl was said to have taken offence when her aunt scolded her for coming back late from the market. “I did not do anything to her. I just threw an empty water jog on her for staying too long in the market and she ran away,” Agnes further told our correspondent. Agnes said she thought Felicia had gone to her restaurant near the Ikom Motor park where she assisted her in serving food “but she went straight and bought Gamalin 20 and went to the house and drank it.” She said it was when the girl failed to come back after about an hour that she sent one of the girls staying with her to look for her and when she got home “she saw Felicia lying on the floor and called me and I rushed home and immediately took her to the hospital but it was too late.” The body of the dead girl, which was wrapped in a native mat and put in the boot of a golf car with her legs dangling outside, was taken to Obubra their birthplace for burial. Asked if she reported the incident to the police before taking the girl for burial in the village, she retorted in pidgin English: “Police go wake am up?” (meaning will the police wake her up?). One of the sympathizers who was also shedding tears profusely said the lady was always kind to her niece and wondered why the girl had to take her own life for whatever reason. Mandela To Remain In Hospital Despite Recovery SHARE THIS TAGS The former South African President, Nelson Mandela, is being kept in hospital despite “looking much better”, according to the government. Presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj said doctors treating the 94 year old are “in no hurry to send him home”. Mr Mandela was admitted to hospital 12 days ago and has been treated for a lung infection and gallstones. Doctors are satisfied with his progress but say he needs “extraordinary care” because of his age. Mr Mandela led the struggle against white-minority rule before being elected the first black president in 1994. He contracted tuberculosis while on the windswept Robben Island where he served 18 of the 27 years he was imprisoned for sabotage. His lungs are said to have been damaged when he worked in a prison quarry. #www.channelstv.com# My Observation: could this be a war between medical practise and reality? I do not wish Mandela's death but south Africans are kind of ready to "extend" Madiba's life span. What do you think? |
