Esthered: Taiwo didn't work with PWC his former employer on this? Taiwo Oyedele probably got excited with the opportunity of his appointment and rushed with the so called reforms without carrying along the Big 4 (Deloitte, KPMG, PWC, EY) and others. This probably explains why there was no broad based support for the new tax laws, and he had to rely on the govt. to push the legislators to compromise before the laws were passed. Even now, we know the version that was gazetted is different from what was passed by NASS |

brain54: Over immigration and customs issues...
Not related to the extradition case filled against him by the Ghanian government?
This report isn't clear or specific but if its the former I think the US is just trying to play smart and beat around their own laws to repartrait him back to Ghana to face his corruption charges.
If he gets to Ghana. No how he would not end in jail! He ran away from Ghana under the pretext that he was going for medical procedure in the US and refused to cooperate with the Ghana govt. when he was invited to come and answer questions about some govt contracts and expenditures. The govt then filed an official request for him to be extradited from the US. He is apparently overstaying his visa in the US in order to avoid coming to Ghana, which has now landed him in trouble with Trump's ICE crackdown. Such a disgrace to a whole Finance Minister |

I don’t know the reason for the recent laxity the whole Stanbic business is displaying.
Mutual fund ❌ Underperforming yields Brokers ❌ Zero traction on transactions
When you don chop belle, na sleep remain naa. Issokay. Stanbic-IBTC seems to be more active in the fixed income market (T. Bills, Bonds, etc.) than the equity market. |

pluto09: I think it is appropriate that you add that deap capital still have a negative equity of over 2b and they are still making loss. I only mentioned what I could remember from what I have read about the company. He asked for factors that may be contributing to the price rally. Definitely, the negative equity and losses (which you mentioned) are not expected to contribute to the rally. My comments were balanced enough, and did not heighten any unnecessary hope or doubt about the stock. |

Help a novice who is still learning. @awesomej @mikeapollo @mpeace @streetinvestor @emmanuelewunmi @agbalowo etc Deapcap has restructured and deleveraged its AMCON debt from about N1.5b to about N400m. They also have plans to do a debt-equity conversion programme and possibly raise additional capital in the market. These and some other info may be responsible for its recent performance. But I don't know if it will continue the rally or decline or remain stable. |

I thought when you input my mandate on their app it goes directly to the Ngx trading floor application.
They are just lucky i am a long term investor, anybody doing JIJO for don reach their office scatter everywhere. Sometimes, you don't have to rely on the App/email alone. They should have someone that trades daily on the floor of the NGX; get his number and call him to action your mandates faster |

They struck first last June and almost got annihilated so much Trump had to quickly call for ceasefire in 12 days after he witnessed the serious destruction of the US proxy state. I think you feel good with yourself and Iran when you tell these cheap funny lies about the Iran-Israel war. You forgot that it was Iran that first attacked Israel by sending over 300 missiles, most of which were intercepted. Israel decided to wait and respond at their own time, which you now describe as striking first. |

nosa2: You are right but since we have been unable to find a solution to corruption then we are best using a development model that adds it as a factor. With regards to external policy, yes that too is a factor. So add it as a potential risk. So unless those things happen Naira will not collapse The govt stopped subsidies since 2023, but they have been borrowing like crazy to finance the budget with no concrete results to show. Ask yourself why they have borrowed trillions of naira when there is no subsidies, and still nothing to show? |

nosa2: The only thing that will make dollars attractive over the Naira in the next 10 years would be if a government comes in and reinstates fuel subsidy, fixes the exchange rate and nationalizes all refineries. If these don't happen then Naira will not witness the kind of collapse you referenced. Have you thought about policy decisions in the US that could strengthen or weaken the dollar against the naira? That is not under your control. The issues you listed can be worked on without the naira being weakened. e.g. Nigeria had a stronger naira with national oil refineries working in the 1970-80s. State ownership of assets is not the problem; corruption and mismanagement is. Aramco is owned by Saudi Govt and they are doing fine. Don't demonize subsidies. Every country on this earth gives some form of subsidies to their citizens. |

nosa2: The time for Nigerians holding dollars is gone. The structure of the economy has changed so much that the best thing any Nigerian can do for the foreseeable future is to focus on increasing their Naira income Nothing is ''gone'' in the long-run. How many regime policy somersaults and inconsistencies have you witnessed and fallen victim to in Nigeria? Naira was about N200 just 10 years ago. Never downplay a relatively stable currency like US dollars for an unstable naira, especially in a country that relies heavily on oil prices which may experience a drop and put pressure on the currency. A new govt may come with something better or worse than what we have now |

megawealth01: ²Billioniare Otedola has done it again
He has just made a big move by selling his majority stake in Gerugu power company worth $750m
This is same stake he acquired 12 years ago for less than $150m...that's 5X ROI
No jokes, Otedola is gunning to become the Omaha of NGX, Lagos Island.
Question now is why did he sell it?
What does he want to buy next?
#moneylessons247 Possibly gunning for a bigger stake in Dangote Refinery; paying dollar dividends would greatly enhance the trading price on NGX |
