Which very small compared to market capitalization. His argument is that we won't experience crash again since the local participants are dominant. But is that really true?
Okay.
Yes, I think local players took over after the global crisis and are more dominant in the market now. And I suspect that's a reason the market has been somehow resilient in recent times.
Even Covid-19 also gave opportunity to local players to gain more control when stock prices fell drastically.

You prefer to queue under the sun at passport office while being given strokes of koboko by immigration officers?!

Take a que from our filling stations. Pay and go. It is left for you to double your hustle.
Can't you see the bigger picture?
There are less queue at filling stations because a lot of people cannot afford to buy the fuel.
Do you want the same thing for international passport too which is supposed to be affordable to the ordinary Nigerian citizens, including students?
Does it make sense to you that minimum wage is N70,000 and the passport is N100,000?

I can easily afford to pay for the passport, but the effect of govt policy it is not only about ''me, I, and myself''.
You need to re-educate your mind and how you think about these things.

Given that the market has weaned itself of FPIs that like dumps, I don't think it'll swing that much.

Those FPIs showed me(us) shege during COVID when crude dropped below $0.

My 10k band estimate would be 137 - 147 for the rest of the year.
But I heard that CBN (or NGX) reported that FPI in NGX is about N1.3 trillion

It is not about how current or stale the news is. It is about how strange and unusual the action is and what might have caused it.

Its very sweet...we continued to buy as the opportunity present themselves, my target quantity is 1m before the end of the year.
Some few thousands away.
grin grin
I support the bonus because it is good for shareholders. My concern is the technical implication of raising additional equity capital the following year. It could be that they are very confident the business has the capacity to expand massively and support the bloated outstanding shares. It could also mean the directors did the bonus for them to be benefit more and cash out big time in dividends. And then do this new capital raise for them to buy majority of the shares again.

VFD Group’s Q1 results showed great improvement, yet the share price kept falling. I think this is the time to accumulate, assuming they maintain the same total dividend payout: ₦2.50 per share × 7,601,094,600 shares = ₦19,002,736,500.

After their proposed rights issue of 2 for 3 at ₦10 (is this correct?), I expect to see new shares outstanding of about 12,668,491,000. Dividing ₦19,002,736,500 by 12,668,491,000 gives roughly ₦1.50 per share.

Stay with me: if they maintain (and I actually think they might pay higher) the same total payout ratio, the dividend should come to about ₦1.50 per share (probably more). Here’s where it gets interesting — after running a dividend valuation, I arrive at ₦20 (minimum).

With the current price at ₦12, that’s still a significant upside, even if one doesn’t pick up rights. To me, VFD Group is a solid BUY at ₦12 (or maybe a little lower). Do your DD, and keep in mind it will likely be a gradual climb. lipsrsealed
Thanks for bringing this up.
This VFD seems a quiet, but valuable stocks. What is getting me confused is why they did a 5:1 bonus just over a year ago, and then do another capital raise this year. Apart from this, their fundamentals look good. It is a stocks one can load without much noise if the price is right.

in a bid to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Passport, they jerk up the cost above minimum wage.
There is nothing like ''quality and integrity'' for anybody to uphold in the Nigerian passport! The clueless govt is just increasing the price of everything just to make Nigerians suffer.

Naira devaluation
Price of fuel
Price of electricity
Price of Gas
School fees increment
Bank transfer levy fees
VAT was to be increased to 15% but NASS stopped it
Price of passport now increased twice within a year

For those apprehensive about Ellah's ability to raise N250b, let's engage in some deductive reasoning, shall we?
At the EGM, a shareholder stood up to ask about rights issue , a question that was artfully dodged by Ellah chairman and Chuka. This should tell you that Ellah doesn't even need to issue rights to existing shareholders to meet their target
You commot from Oando come enter Ellah!

"Investing stage"
That is what some people failed to realise. It is abnormal expecting Ella to be at the same level with Okomu or presco. It is good that meristem did not say the Ella farm is not in existence as many are insinuating. Palm farming is a long term business. Fine, you might have started producing something as from five years (maybe three nowadays), the fruit and output will still be very small at this stage. Some fruit will practically be the size of a fist. It takes many more years before you really start to make the money. Okomu and the likes are maybe as old I am, and they buy existing farms and trun it around. This is not the same as planting afresh, which I belive is what Ella is doing most. I believe Ella will perform excellently in the nearest future. "Except, Nigeria." Is like comparing O and O and Seplat also. O and O too is going places. Even without PBAT. "Except, Nigeria."

I wish I had money to do what I wanted to do and still retain my small holdings. Same with WEMA which some don't believe in that time.
Valid points.

Go back and read the tax law. Before you claim any deductible expense, you must show proof that you incurred that expense.

If you claim you paid 2.5 million rent to a house owned by a Nigerian or to a landlord in Nigeria or outside Nigeria, you'll be entitled to the 500k tax allowance but the landlord too must declare the 2.5 million as rental income and pay tax on it...else you or the landlord will have committed tax fraud, for which either of you can go to jail. Again, go and read the law before you argue.

There's a reason they're forcing everyone to have nin, bvn and link phone number and account number to nin. As long as you are in Nigeria, you can't hide. They'll simply freeze your account if you don't respond to text messages and show up to defend your claims.

Even those in stock market, remember your CSCS is linked to your nin which is linked to your bvn which contains all your account number.

There's no hiding place if they get intelligent people to implement it like IRS officials do in USA.

Your strategy now should be how to minimise or avoid the taxes. Trying to evade is fruitless cos na one click them go take frustrate anyone's life.

Hopefully they implement it to the letter so that everyone paying tax will start demanding good governance
Thank you very much for the explanations.
I was only seeking clarity, not argue. It is okay.
If I pay my rent to the landlord, he collects the money and travels abroad without declaring his incone tax, then they will come and arrest me and put me inside jail. A govt that does not help you to get accommodation in anyway. It is well. Kirikiri go overfull.
Same way FIRS tried similar thing with VAT returns and they abandoned it when they could not match VAT input claims of buyer to VAT output of the seller.
Hopefully this one will be less problematic

If you claim to have paid 2.5m as rent, the person who received it will have to declare it as income and pay tax on it, so it's pointless trying to forge rent figures. But then, anything can happen in Nigeria, especially if they have used nepotism, connection and tribalism to recruit empty heads to implement the tax law.
Who is going to declare what? If I pay my rent in Arepo (Ogun state) and work in Lagos, how would they make the retiree landlord to declare his income and to whom?
Some people work in Oyo state and live in Lagos and vice versa etc.
What about where the landlord is based abroad etc.

I agree with you absolutely.
This scenario has always constituted my personal worries.
I left the federal public service at the highest level of it's hierarchy, so I know what I'm talking about.
I have observed that generally, only a quarter of the members of staff do the work of a government department. This are the productive ones.
Most of the others are the ones going around gossipping, licking the boots of directors and very senior officers. And they are even better preferred by directors who love flattery and boot licking.
Before promotion exams, you see them going all over the place. They are the first to pass promotion exams.
It's so painful that the same crop of unproductive elements rise to become directors.
You will see ladies get to the office, open their laptops or handsets, and launch to the social media... Facebook, Instagram etc.
And when you give them something to do, after a few minutes, they would start taking permissions to go home and take care of their babies, or going to take their children from school.
The system is so annoying and you can do very little about it. And they always steal whatever comes their ways. Those in higher positions are always likely cheat to cart away what belongs to the junior ones.
And when it's come to going out for field assignments, which would involve money, you would see everybody prowling around the place.
And this same group, who would always escape writing field reports would always find themselves in the list.
To be frank, we don't need more than a quarter of the so called civil servants, who should be closely supervised.

I always stood up against the system. They tried to destroy me. I became a director by grace of God and they made me to Head servicom because they knew I would not compromise my principle and I would not be bringing money to the CEO.

For the public service to be productive, it should adopt the culture of the private sector.
Promotion should be based on productivity and the system of seniority should be abrogated.
So many times, I worked under morons and the only thing they know how to do is defend themselves whenever there are issues. Go to their tribalised directors and speaking hoaouosua.
Honestly, the system is annoying. Even though I was a part of it. They said I had no friends. How could they be my friends?
The only thing they scout for is money. Not interested in service at all!
I can relate my brother.
They would definitely not like your courage and principles, and you could become ''isolated'' or one-man soldier in the workplace.
In most cases you would find yourself doing most of the work because you would not want your job to be messed up by the other nonchalant colleagues. They would dislike or even hate you for speaking the truth.
They would not realize it until you resign and leave, then they start facing reality and regrets in your absence.

The rent relief is 20% of your annual rent capped at 500k.

Your annual rent will have to be ₦2,500,000 before you can enjoy the full 500k rent relief.

You all that support bulaba lack understanding or deliberately try to misinform people till it's too late for them to complain about a bad policy.

That's how you all praised him for scrapping unnecessary import fees and replacing all with just one flat 7% fee that has turned out to be even 300% higher than all the small small fees previously collected from importers.
Would this not cause a problem? How would govt/employer determine that the annual rent amount?
Because employees may claim that their annual rent is N2.5m, and could bring fictitious rent agreements/contracts as evidence.
