BabsO2: .
I have read in the past of oil majors like those you mentioned talking about low margins for their refineries. That is despite all their years of experience in the refinery space. Not to talk of Oando that ain’t got years of experience. Perhaps the oil majors offer fat staff salaries and Oando will save some costs here by offering lower wages. Even at that margins being low is a refinery thing compared to oil exploration and production. Don't you think what may be considered ''low margins'' by those big guys (Mobil, Shell, Chevron, etc) could make a big difference for Oando? |

BabsO2: How profitable is this refinery sef. Refineries usually have low margins. An old one like this will have very low margins. Or is the TT government giving special concessions like paying ops fees even if it operates at a loss, otherwise it doesn’t look attractive to me. Refineries outside an integrated framework may have low margins. But this would be refinery to be owned and operated by an integrated oil and gas exploration and production company. It is like a refinery run by integrated oil and gas majors like Mobil, Shell, Chevron etc. Such refineries would perform better than the ones owned by a non-integrated oil and gas companies, because of potential savings from economies of scale, transfer pricing, benefits of value chain, logistics, certainty of supplies, pricing, economies of scope etc. Again, Oando would be selling most of its refined products offshore for dollars |

GeeKudi: Just imagine OANDO getting the nod to run any of Nigerian refineries? The noise, the protest, the cries! Even with a refinery in a far away country, Nigerians are still insinuating corruption. Even with this, some people are insinuating that both Angola oil bloc and T&T refinery were won as a result of so called ''phone calls'' from the president. I am not a fan of the president, but I think Oando deserves some credit for the efforts, especially if they could buy Connocco Philips for a whooping $1.5b as far back as 2014 when TPain was no where near the presidency. It seems some people strongly believe or feel that only ugly, bad news should be heard about Oando and any positive news is underserving, and must be as a result of TPain's influence or manipulation. |

AMINDA: Disgraceful! All that talk about being a "democrat" were all a ruse. They now have power and see them behaving worse than IBB and Sani Abacha combined. If truly the House was on recess, then nobody has the legal authority to reconvene the House except the Speaker himself, so the members who met to impeach him got it wrong from the beginning! That is very critical and cannot be swept under the carpet! |

Sunrisepebble: Financial track record or a phone call from the number one citizen I also hope it doesn’t end in tears C'mon, haba! They made reference to Ondo's acquisition of ConnoccoPhillips for $1.5b several years back. Was it a phone call from a number one citizen that made that to happen too? But I agree that Oando still needs to do a lot more to manage its assets and liabilities, especially the huge loans in order to deliver good rewards to shareholders. The several acquisitions alone, without very good management, would not automatically translate to positive results. |

My limit order at ₦46 failed.... Be patient and strategic. Sometimes, you have to wait until close to end of trade to put in your order. That is how some people are able to get good closing prices, especially when the market is so too bullish! Oando seems attractive at current price and may oscillate around N45-N55 range for a while. |

Raider76: Sometimes I am a conspiracy theorist. I believe those major shareholders of Oando who agreed to pay back their loans in shares are pulling a classic short on the stock. They agreed to pay back in stock at a very high price, say N100 per share. However instead of giving up the stock immediately they are holding it and giving it to the other shareholders in bits. This means they are practically borrowing the shared as a short seller would do. Now they crash the price and buy it back at lower a lower price. A classic short. This scheme will be even more perfect if they pay in cash in subsequent tranches. Just bury the idea of cash payment! It will never happen. How do you even expect them to do that? What value will be placed on each unit of the shares before they pay the cash equivalent? |

Sunrisepebble: I've voiced my concern about the financials. I dont see what is there to sustain the price, they gained massively from Other income which was a one off. The only thing I see saving the price is the news of the positive refinery bid. Otherwise, there's nothing in the stock
I could be wrong. I know some others have their different opinion which I respect also I don't think this current Oando price drop is only due to poor financials. Several factors could be at play, including the share redistribution because the price started dropping just after the due date. Also, it could be due to some market or deal makers trying to get the price to a certain range and mop up. About 2 years ago, GT was selling very low around N16-N18, even when there was nothing wrong with its financials. If you are interested in Oando, just make sure you buy at a convenient price and be ready to hold for the long term. There is 50% additional ''bonus'' units for you if you hold till 2027, if you can. But the only thing that can prevent a further decline in the short term is positive quarterly results, and some major positive news e.g. successful refinery bid or the Angola oil bloc producing some good volumes |

CodeTemplar: Source : Daily Post Very shallow assessment by a clueless and incompetent president! Nigerian masses are suffering today because of macroeconomic issues which have made life difficult and unbearable for them e.g. inflation, interest rate, devaluation and floating of naira, high cost of fuel etc. These things have a direct effect on the cost and standard living of the people, and are under the direct control of the FGN. State govts do not control or determine these parameters, therefore multiplying their allocations by even 10 times would not have any meaningful effect on the economy and life of the masses. It would only increase inflation, corruption, and maybe add to the salaries of a few State workers etc. But the generality of the population would suffer, and that is what is happening. Not every Nigerian works for FG or State govt The state govts lack the capacity to affect these Macroeconomic issues positively in a manner the way the FG can. A sensible govt would rather do everything and use some resources to ensure that these things are kept and managed within the range that the generally masses can cope with. |

ositadima1: Now, I bet you’ve never heard much about geothermal energy. Cold climates like parts of Canada, Alaska, Sweden, and Norway use it. In fact, the lower the temperature, the better. Read up on it.
Regarding the issue of energy storage at night, many technologies are being updated. We have wind energy, which performs well at night when tidal currents are strongest. Some places even use massive sand silos as thermal batteries—during the day, they heat the sand to extremely high temperatures, and at night, they pass water through it to generate steam and recover energy.
There are also man-made water reservoirs. During the day, water is pumped up to these reservoirs, and at night, it is released to turn turbines. Another method involves lifting heavy concrete blocks—these weights are raised during the day and dropped at night, effectively converting potential energy into electricity.
So much is happening. Do you think Oyibo is happy giving away money, especially to Arab countries? They are working day and night on solutions. One day, a major breakthrough will come. Do you know how long they worked on GSM technology? Do you think it just happened overnight? Eventually, they made it market-viable.
Anyway, I’m done derailing. This is not derailing at all. This kind of discussions should be encouraged. Investing is better when done with some basic knowledge in the subject matter and relevant developments that could affect such investment or portfolio. |

thebargainhunte: Oando getting to that price maybe attributed to share redistribution, but oga may not like to distribute it now cos it will tank the price further.I only see Oando at the range of #55-663 this week. Oando can easily fall below N50.in the next few days. Those who qualified for the first tranche may still sell some of their units. Only very good news like solid Q1 2025 results, more acquisitions, etc would create renewed interests in Oando for now. But I think it is a stocks to buy and hold. It can cross the N200 mark in few years from now especially after the share redistribution is complete. |
