Seems like you are disappointed with the good news that real inflation is falling and the people’s purchasing power is improving

Any failure or clueless person can project somewhat better results when the economy is rebased.
Why rushing to rebase the economy in less than 2 years in govt if they are really confident of their performance and not trying desperately to whitewash the figures?.

My brother, just ignore the GEJ tales people keep bringing up every now and then. Failure is still failure, even if na 10% compared to 25%.
GEJ had more than enough economic reason, economic resources and agility in human resources to remove the petrol subsidy alongside the exchange rate debacle but chose to pander towards political views who had ulterior and selfish reasons which eventually cost him the reelection he needed badly.

If GEJ had taken the bull by the horn in the early stages of his government, we would have seen some level of adjustment to lifestyles and possible changes which could have led to the nation experiencing double digit growth of at least 10% or close to it over the past years.

It would have also weakened the glut of cash available to those who benefited from the petrol subsidy and foreign exchange challenges which gave such people a platform to harness resources to sabotage his government.

He failed Nigerians as well as his successor and even previous governments. A lot of the things we are experiencing today ought to have been done several decades ago.
If you do not realize, only a clueless president would float the currency of an import-dependent, developing nation. It is never done unless such country is ready to destroy its economy. Do yo know how many lives and dreams have been shattered by the reckless floating of the naira e.g. those who could no longer pay tuition fees etc?

So what positive adjustments to lifestyles have you had now with:
a. unprecedented poverty in the land ?
b. untold inflation and high cost of living?
c. destruction of the purchasing power of the people?
d. increased and unprecedented unemployment?
e. companies declaring losses and folding up in droves?
f. massive downturn in the economy, especially the informal sector

Under GEJ, the minimum wage could buy 2 bags of rice. How many bags can you buy now with the ''bold'' president?. Boldness can only be a good thing if it leads to positive results! Foolish boldness leads to negative effects. An armed robber must be bold to act or operate, but do you praise him when he inflicts pain or kills someone?

Of what benefit if a nation records double digit growth and the people are dying of hunger and poverty? What is the essence of such useless growth? Growth for dead people to enjoy?
It is only a clueless president that would implement policies that would record double-digit growth and still plunge the majority masses into unprecedented poverty, hardship and suffering, while the same president budgets billions for his feeding, entertainment expenses and buys a new jet.
Subsidy is not a crime, and most developed countries have subsidy schemes for their people especially in key areas or sectors of the economy, which also helps to boost growth and redistribute wealth. Even at that, there was still subsidy being paid after the fuel price was increased, until Dangote refinery started operations.

I feel your frustration. That's the same reason I've been sceptical about taking tech courses. I'll only enrol for one if I'm sure of relocating. I got a degree in Mathematics/Computer Scinece but I can confirm the guys that bagged Science Degrees from my school that are practicing what they read and are balling are the Engineering and Architecture guys. Most of the IT guys despite all their certifications are struggling. I'm shelfing my IT Certification plans for a PG in Finance so I can make significant progress.
Get your IT certifications first, especially the ones that have some bearing with Finance and then go into Finance or you combine them. You will have good prospects if you go into Finance with a strong IT background and certifications

Since inflation rate has fallen, so I expect the interest rate to drop as well hence impacting on the TB rates as well.
The new inflation rate is based on rebased i.e. ''padded'' figures.

We are here for investments, but all the factors and parameters that determine the fate and performance of investments are controlled and affected by the political authority e.g. inflation, interest rates, exchange rate, purchasing power, etc.

I have noticed on the this forum that when someone makes a post praising or eulogizing this govt and/or the president, the whole place is quiet and most people don't make any comment.
But when someone says this govt and/or president is clueless and incompetent, some crowd of people suddenly emerge out of their hideout and cocoons, unhappy and they remember that there is a ''politics'' section and such comments should be taken to such section.

I cannot even imagine that a terrible govt like this could be said to be better than Jonathan's (even though GEJ had his own issues).

Useless and misleading news.
Go to the market and see how expensive things are.
The govt rebased the economy in order to churn out false economic parameters that look better on paper but the people know the stark reality on ground.

How will this Providus/Unity arrangement be worked out on NGX? Unity has the listing, Providus has the money. Meanwhile no efforts being made to release Unity outstanding reports.
Providus would most likely acquire Unity Bank. If that happens, the relevant financial reports to look out for will be those of Providus. They may have to raise further capital to meet CBN requirements though.

Wait for the surprise. I wish I can say all I know. Long story short don’t undermine or underestimate the influence of the North.
On point.
Unity Bank is to the north what Wema bank is to the south-west. I don't know why the south-east allowed their regional bank to go down, if I am not mistaken (cant recollect the name now). These assets should be maintained and improved upon because they are closer to the people and can engender grass root development better than the newer banks.

Most predictions on NSEMPA are actually the predictors' wishful thinking.
If several "wishful thinking" of a person becomes reality with some stunning accuracy, then such "wishful thinking" should be taken seriously.
We should also remember that some people in this forum may be connected to the industry/sector or company and therefore know more than the rest of us about the happenings in a particular stocks e.g. Bagwa and ProphetUctuocha seem to be connected to (or know much about) Oando but probably not revealing their true identity or connection for ethical reasons

Very likely traders are trying to lock in the cash (10m+ units on offer)

Now the seemingly ridiculous 1:12 bonus makes more sense.
A 1:2 or 1:3 bonus would have resulted in full blown sell off...

I would have loved to wait until after the next tranche on June 30 before touching my units, if possible.

Why is Oando down?
It is normal to expect Oando to be down today, because a lot of those who got the extra redistributed shares (which is being termed as ''bonus'') would want to sell and monetize the reward, so supply is more than demand for now.
This may continue for a few days.
I also want to sell some units, but will wait for the rush to die down a bit.

But the price should rise again very soon.

Politics › Re: 2027: Peter Obi Or Akinwumi Adesina? by mikeapollo: 3:08pm On Feb 11, 2025
Penguin2:
As the race for 2027 gears up, alignments and realignments have continued to dominate our political space with leaders of opposition trying to unite and forge a common front to face APC in 2027.

Now, with Peter Obi’s showing in the last election coupled with the fact it’s the turn of the south, by Nigerian political convention, the pendulum seems to be swinging towards Peter Obi to be the candidate of the united opposition. Add the fact that Obasanjo seems to be sold out to the Obi project and Obasanjo is a big factor in the ongoing discussions for opposition leaders.

But the recent interview of the outgoing President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwunmi Adesina, talking about being available for any role in the future (with 2027 presidency clearly in sight) there seems to be a new bride who might be entering the race.

Ordinarily I would have taken Adesina’s interview as a no issue but knowing that he’s another guy President Obasanjo admires, I won’t be surprised if he becomes a surprise joker in the race.

But now I want to ask, who would you rather faces Tinubu as candidate of the united opposition, Peter Obi or Akinwunmi Adesina?
I guess it is time for Akinwunmi Adeshina to destroy himself!
He must be thinking very highly of himself because he is AfDB president!
He is welcome

When investing and making great profits, at what point do you actually enjoy the gains in terms of benefits to oneself(buy a house, take a vacation , maybe a car etc) without the guilt of oh I could have reinvested this profit and made more gains.
No one here can provide a perfect answer to your question. We all face the same dilemma.
What most people do is to set thresholds or targets and then weigh the cost-and-benefits of each scenario or option.
Then you take action when the time comes or target is achieved.
Sometimes your permutations work perfectly, other times it may not.
Sometimes you may have to abandon your earlier plan when a new and better opportunity arises. Hence, you have to monitor the market and your stocks very well.
Sometimes, may also decide not to sell and rather keep the shares if you are very sure of the future potential and possible gains that you can make from a particular stocks.

But remember that not everything can be 100% certain at all times
