designking: Oando announced a share bonus but they didn't realise how complex it is to fulfil such promise.
They are in a delima at the moment... They are still figuring out how they can work around the share redistribution or cash bonus.
Oando has about 268,000 shareholders. It would take the Registrars some weeks to complete the assignment, and get NGX/SEC clearance. Just like what happens after a rights or bonus issue Just be patient, Oando will mature soon for every shareholder to enjoy the redistribution.
I may not be able to say exactly how long it would take for IB to turn around. But based on historical facts, its industry performance and potentials and being a member of a global brand (AB InBev), the world's largest brewer, I think it as very good prospects in the future or long term (you are the one that can determine how ''long'' the long term you are willing to invest and wait).
Just one so-called ''Detty December'' in Lagos. Let us see how we are able to sustain it going forward. Ghana has been doing this for many years with foreigners (both Africans and non-Africans) from all over the world troop there every December. Rita Marley, Steve Wonder and a host of American and foreign stars today have Ghanaian citizenships and/or spend holiday in Ghana every year.
This is tricky; but let me try: The quantum of capital and how long you are patient and able to wait could be key factors to consider:
These are my take: a. International Breweries would be for longer term recovery and higher profit margin/returns in the long term. That stocks can easily clock N30-N40 in the long term after the recovery/turnaround and that would be huge gain considering the current price
b. Nigerian Breweries would be for middle term growth and moderate profit margin/returns in the middle term. I think it can clock N50-N70 or thereabout in the middle/long term.
shonyboi: Not really sure if some of the aforementioned names fit his theory as you described. But he did mention that our Banking stocks are highly undervalued, his reason being, a foreigner with USD and the weak Naira can literally come and buy up our banks which he says should be avoided by all means(He said and I quote "when a stock is undervalued due to the manipulation that occurs, the people that value it will purchase and delist it...why should Dangote and Bua be trading at such values and Lafarge be like that?" . For Banks he loves his Zenith and GTB and has decided to increase his stake in UBA based on their last dividends. I follow him but we do not necessarily agree on everything . I love Access due to its low entry point but he doesn't. He doesn't want anything to do with Oando even if he is offered for free (Although I have a few units in it for JIJO which I learnt from you guys)
I agree with some of the points raised by your dad; but you should not worry too much about foreigners coming to buy the banks. Whenever there is a foreign bid for a bank, the market would react and the share price will most likely increase; and one can make good gains from the buy-out offer price e.g. WAPCO and FMN are good examples. Unless your dad's concern is to remain a shareholder in the company e.g. for future dividends.
shonyboi: I am still learning the ropes but my dad advised me to get this NB amongst a few others this year, his reasoning was simple "son always look for the best performing stock in the sector, if it is trading below others in the same sector then it is undervalued and is a good bargain"
Your dad has given you a golden secret and tip to make good money in the stocks market. Some stocks that fit his theory would include: FCMB, UBA (Banking), Honeywell (FMCG), Intl Brew (Breweries), Unity Bank (Banking; but under technical suspension), Oando (Oil and Gas; but very controversial), MTNN (Telecoms) etc.
ndept: Don't waste your time on that moniker. He has practically fought with almost everybody on this platform. You can just do a little background check on his moniker and you will see what I am talking about. My advice to him is to change his ways, behaviour and personal relationship with people. It is only by then that he can have absolute rest of mind without anybody tracking him. I wonder what he has that people are tracking him up and down? maybe those that he has fought with before sha . I saw him calling you a crim.ina.l just because your moniker is old and idle, without decently finding out why. You have been good with your responses so far, and I encourage you to keep to it.
On Chams, you have not done anything bad by your analysis/criticisms, that is why this thread was created. Due to Loco's stance on Chams, I made some background checks and discover that they are somehow linked with the powers to be, therefore, it is most likely they will be favoured by this government. Thereafter, I bought close to 4m units. I rest my case for now.
I may have to consider this Chams.
Once again, thank you for the great words of wisdom this early 2025. I wish perfect peace unto all those who seek, work and act for peace in 2025! Shalom!
megawealth01: If you have "PATIENT FUNDS" secure your FUTURE with that BREWERIES of NIGERIA. It's currently #30+
Thank you for this. Goodness and mercy shall follow you and those who give good tips on stocks in good faith because they want to help others to make it too. ProphetUtuocha has also called out FCMB; Locotrader also called out CHAMS.
emmasoft: No, the rule is for all companies not only banks. For companies that has December as year end, they are expected to submit their audited account 3months after year end which is 31st March and companies that have March as year end are required to submit by June 30th.
The rule is submit your audited report three months after your year end
Yes, you are correct. I was mixing it up with filing annual returns at CAC which is 6 months after year end

Words of wisdom from someone who has received ''revelation'' on how to relate with toxic charlatans!
Raider76: Is the deadline for filing previous year financial results for stocks with December 31 year end, June 30 or March 31? If Oando really wants to regularize their financial reporting schedule they must report 2024 audited results no later than 31st March 2025.
For most companies (non-banking and non-financial institutions), the deadline for filing previous year financial results is 6 months after the company's financial year end, which means Oando is expected to file its results on or before June 30. However, the banks have an exception and they must file their results on or before Mar 31.
Raider76: As you said, it is not easy to predict Wale/Oando, or the market in general. But one scenario I am looking at is that the share redistribution will come as the corporate action of the 2024 Financial Report. That way it will look like, and have the effect of, dividend or bonus payment, and shareholders will be happy. Unfortunately, I have observed that Oando did not give notice of a Closed Period to start January 1st, like other companies are doing. So we may still be in the woods as far as corporate governance is concerned, and one cannot say when the results will be released.
I think Oando's share redistribution would not go beyond Mar2025, roughly 3 months after the AGM, which was held as part of corporate action with respect to the accounts for financial year 2023. Oando always delays in releasing their audited accounts, usually after the deadline of June 30, which would be more than 6 months after the AGM, so there could be pressure on them to get it done before the 2024 accounts are released.
Stocks that underperformed can turnaround bountifully. It happened to Ikeja Hotels, FBN, Wapco, Oando etc It may soon happen to IB Plc, HoneyWell, Unity Bank etc
Thanks for the updates. I have a feeling 2025 will be great for all the oil companies (Aradel, Seplat, Oando) as FGN will need them to produce more for higher revenue, plus the share redistribution from Oando shareholders'.
Odafe360: I posted a previous topic about my divorce with my wife and i got alot of advice on this platform which really encouraged & have me strength.
I'm really grateful for the nairaland community. The only issue i'm still battling with right now is how to move on, i'm trying everyday to forget the past, but the more i try, the more it's becoming fresh in my heart and the pains too. I won't lie to you it's difficult. Sincerely sometimes i cry and the thoughts of ending my life comes and goes. I don't drink, I don't smoke, neither do i womannize and worst of all i don't have much friends cos I'm more of an introvert.
A snippet of the entire problem is that most times we have an issue and she leaves the house, i've always been the one going to speak to her mum, plead and bring them back home, that's why whenever there's problem and she goes back to her mom's place, nobody from her family would contact me to even hear my side because I've become like a fool to them cos they know i'll still come. This last one that she left, we just had a little issue and she packed a her things and left. So many people not to go to her family house and beg this time around since i didn't send them packing. I swear guys, i've forgiven and tolerated what 90% of men won't forgive nor tolerate from her.
Please guys help a brother with more advice, how do i move on?
You need to start doing some activity that will get you busy and engaged e.g. gym, sports, some academic or professional course or pursuit etc. Focus on improving yourself and with time you will be stronger and better. Don't rush into a serious relationship for now but you can acquiant yourself with some new friends of the opposite sex just to take your mind off her. Going to the gym really works as it has a way of reducing the stress .
So because ipobidients were ranting all over the social media, you assumed Nigerians are in your support.
You will soon know if it is Nigerians or biafrans that were supporting you. You better start preparing how to defend those allegations you leveled against Afe.
Please stop this kind of attitude. Everything is not a out politics. Nigerians stood up for him, simple! Afe Babalola is not a saint either.
sapele914: Ignorant Eyepobian the Petroleum Industry Act (P.I.A.) removed subsidy, go & read & stop making a mockery of yaself.
Your ignorance is what has still left u in the pit till date.
With due respect, I disagree with you on the PUA removing subsidy. The same PIA was in operation when Buharu refused to remove subsidy on fuel and left the pump price at N200. The law is made for man, and not man for the law. A bad law can be suspended, kept in abeyance, amended or scrapped or repealed. For instance, Apartheid was backed by laws, but it was a bad thing so people fought against it and it was stopped.
Even if subsidy was to be removed, there should have been a gradual process and ways to ameliorate the effects on the people.
ndept: From my experience over the years, market crashes are always led by banks. The moment you see their financial results declining massively, then you should know that market crashes are imminent because institutional investors will start selling their holdings to move the funds to the money market. However, the fact that insiders in these banks are still buying their bank shares is a pointer to the fact that things will still be alright, at least in the next 3 months.
The market will not crash soon. At least not in the next 2 years. Unlike what happened during the global crisis of 2008-2010 when foreign investors dominated the NGX and the market crashed when they sold off, the market is now dominated more by local investors who took advantage of the crash in prices to load more shares. Hence the NGX is a bit more shielded from the volatility of foreign markets. More funds would be pushed into the economy between now and next year when politicians start their election campaigns and some of the funds will trickle into the stocks market. But a serious political crisis or uncertainty can cause the market to shed some weight
Locotrader: I have a complete 20m units of chams. I sold all my stocks for CHAMS. From monday I will start to buy 100k units each on Aiico Prestige Sovereign Royalex Regal Guinea Linkage Veritas These ones will be my new Jijo stocks
Locotrader: When I sight Gold I will start my campaign again. What I am seeing now is dredging and offshore and revenue is not much for a stock of 14.2B OS.
While chams will be hitting 18-20B naira revenue and 1.5B naira profit in 2024 financial year,Japaul will struggle to hit 5B revenue and 600m profit.
For now Gold is missing.I rather put money in insurance stocks.
Sorry I made a U-turn.Japaul last corporate announcement caused me to make this U-turn
Just keep your focus and strategy. Ignore any negative or provocative comments about your portfolio from anyone. That is how to hit the jackpot in NGX. That is my approach .
Locotrader: I have a complete 20m units of chams. I sold all my stocks for CHAMS. From monday I will start to buy 100k units each on Aiico Prestige Sovereign Royalex Regal Guinea Linkage Veritas These ones will be my new Jijo stocks
This is one of the surest ways to hit a jackpot in the stocks market, especially if the chosen stocks is cheap and one could buy very large quantities of it. I did a similar thing when I bought Oando and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to identify/discover the potentials when it was still selling around N5. All the best to everyone ! Shalom!
tpain121: how did OANDO that was almost going bankrupt turn to a multi million dollar company as koolu enter? e Fighting corruption indeed.
I am not a fan of Tinubu and I agree that his govt may be very corrupt. To me, he is totally clueless and grossly incompetent. But how does Oando come into this.? Oando has been operating as an oil company with shareholders long before Tinubu became president. Companies go through different phases. e. g International Brewereries and Unity Bank are also experiencing serious financial difficulties but will also come out of it stronger. Must Oando fail totally, be liquidated and closed down with the many employees working there becoming unemployed just because Tinubu is the uncle of the CEO?
PharmAlfred: This is not a sensible take. Where is the place of political will in governance? So some group people can scuttle the president's plan and nothing will happen? No wonder we are not developing. You people just sit down and support rubbish. How do you push more people into poverty, mint more poor people faster than bacteria can replicate and call it reform? What is "scatter everywhere first and we will arrange it back"? How is the arrangement going so far? The president has full capacity to go after those pocketing subsidies and not delivering products. He is in charge of our borders, so don't come with the excuse that people steal and sell petrol products in neighbouring african countries. If they can close borders against import from neighbouring african countries, I see no reason they can't close same borders again people shipping petrol out of the country. What about even making some refineries functional? This is 2024 for God's sake. The rest of the world have moved past this. You and your president are looking for an easy escape that is why you took the route of abrupt removal of petrol subsidy and devaluation. You go after the masses with ease but can't go against the supposed "cabal" that is fewer. See all people that died because they are looking for free food and palliatives. Something they could ordinarily afford before now. Show me one country that doesn't operate one form of subsidy or the other? Now, you have driven energy cost to the high heavens. How does this support production? How does this reduce production cost and by extension cost of finished goods and services that can compete or beat imports? Now rice, chicken, and arms smugglers are having a field day and no one is checking them even after plenty whistleblowing. Make we dey try use our brains.
God bless you my brother. My hope rekindles when I read stuff like this from knowledgeable and sensible people like this. Your level of reasoning and understanding is far above that of most Nigerians who are very myopic and ignorant, and unfortunately in the vast majority. Nigeria is shambles mainly because of clueless leaders and multitude of foolish followers.
Bovis: Tell us what the government should do differently? After all the years of subsidies didn’t translate to nationwide developments but huge debts and massive corruption
Venezuela and Norway are classic examples of two rich resource countries that you should go and research before you condemn the current government policies
Tax Reforms are desperately needed because there’s no ‘Representation without Taxation’. I wonder why previous administrations didn’t implement this policy especially our PHD holder Goodluck Jonathan that squandered the funds in the excess crude account and many other opportunities
Your clueless and grossly incompetent president should cut down on the size of his bloated cabinet and appointees to save costs, streamline expenditure to avoid or miinimse deficits .There was no need for the extravagant life style e.g. purchase of new aircraft . This is a clueless govt that implements bad macro economics policies like reckless floating of the currency, high interest rates which lead to high inflation and high cost of living but turns around and expects state governors who are not managers of the macro economy to solve the problems through palliatives and blames them for the hunger of the people. There is no sensible, import dependent, developing nation that floats it's currency and allows it to be at the mercy of the so called " free market forces" . What sensible govts do is to manage the exchange rate to ensure that the local industries remain competitive and are not overly disadvantaged.
TruthU87: Israel is Over-rated, Seems more and more are getting through all the Iron Dome protection methods and this will def embolden them to continue.
Israel over-rated ? How many countries in the world have been able to experience and survive what Israel has gone through in the hands of its enemies ? What you can say is that their air defence system is not perfect yet. But Israel is not over-rated. A country that is always at war with almost a dozen hostile neighbours. And always defeating them. I hope you would not be accusing them of genocide when they go all out against the Houthi rebels and Yemen!
Fans were quick to attack Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr, over her outfit for an Abuja show.
The award-winning music star was disturbing Lagos and having fun with her fans before travelling to Abuja some days ago.
A video of Ayra arriving at an Abuja event has surfaced on social media and gained publicity. In the video, Ayra addressed the crowd while wearing a skimpy dress that exposed a huge part of her body.
Another clip shows her using one hand to secure the chest area of her dress to prevent a fashion mishap.
This did not sit well with fans, who criticised her for stepping out in such an outfit, knowing she would be uncomfortable. This is not the first time Ayra has been dragged over her style; however, she seems unfazed.
Read some reactions below:
@chiamaka_fayvour: "I don tire to defend this girl."
@scarlet_zamani: "Fr fr tho why put on a dress you ain’t comfortable in."
@wazir_olatomiwa: "It’s like a deformity, but many of you won’t understand."
@ijerex1: "I know a lot of people will say mind your business, but the fact still remains that she is not comfortable in that dress."
@tayorcruz: "That is why I love Tems. She doesn't need to be na*ed to show how s*xy she is, but u see this one."
Useless girls and senseless people patronising them in the name of music!
