RandDigital: Unfortunately for them you can't go to the ICC with fake news 🗑️🚮 Most of the accounts on xenophobia are misinformation, Ghana will have raw egg on their faces after this.
SA won it's case against Israel based on facts and has won the preliminary rounds. Which favts?. Hypocrites SA What has SA done about the mine workers that masscared a few ago? Is that not genocide? What has SA done about Russsua's senseless killings in the war against Ukraine? Is that not genocide? Meanwhile, SA is even sending ammunitions to aid Russia and even allowed Putin to visit the country contrary to ICC arrest warrant! Then add Xenophobia to the list! Useless hypocrisy by a discredited country |

HesInMe: Our local experience with commodity produce boards is poor. They were so ridden with corruption and middlemen exploitation of small-holder farmers we dismantled them. What has changed? What has changed is that the producing countries have realized how much they are losing and being short changed by middlemen and chocolate producers who do not grow any Cocoa.. If Nigeria is not able to do anything, about it, fine. But CIV and Ghana are determined to do something about it because Cocoa provides significant revenue for their budget |

faoogoke: I think what is most important is for the foreign chocolate makers to site their factories in these four countries and export the finished product to other parts of the world. They dont want, or they are reluctant to do that. Hence the decision by the 4 countries. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 4:19pm On Jul 20 |
pluto09: I am actually taking about Nigeria. CIV and Ghana are at another level. The decision to curtail or minimise the wholesale export of raw Cocoa was not taken by Nigeria alone. It was a joint-decision by the largest producers of Cocoa in the world- CIV, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroun but the meeting was held in Abuja |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 4:09pm On Jul 20 |
Agbalowomeri: They should bring their factories into the country to provide jobs Exactly, that is one of the demands being made by the biggest producers. As it is now, some local producers dont even get the beans to buy because some middlemen pre-finance the buyers, so they collect all the beans and ship abroad for huge profits. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 4:06pm On Jul 20 |
pluto09: For now we lack local capacity to process all the cocoa we produce. The first thing is to build local capacity and not banning export by fiat. It will be counterproductive. It is not banning export by fiat. Maybe that is what Nigeria is trying to do. But CIV and Ghana are planning schemes that would enable them buy all the beans from the local farmers, supply enough to local manufacturers, and then be in a position to determine or control the price of the remainder to be exported abroad. This would cut off the middlemen. Currently, local producers don't get enough of the beans as everything is exported and the countries are not even able to determine the price; meanwhile middlemen are making much profits because they pre-finance the farmers and then export the beans abroad for huge profits. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 2:43pm On Jul 20 |
pluto09: If you are a cocoa farmer you will think differently. Selling to foreign companies give them more money. We need to be careful how we handle the issue. If there is no more money in it, many farmers will scale down production. What is important is for the farmer to know the price on the international market and willingness/capacity of the local buyers to pay exactly or something very close to that. The local buyers in this instant would be chocolate producers, manufacturers, and even govt agencies. If this can be done consistently and fairly, the local industry would be better for it. |

Oasisblue: They dont need to have Cocoa. The Shell of this world didnt have crude oil fields in Netherlands or the UK, yet they use their financial and diplomacy strength to run things in our countries, including allegedly colluding to change governments. It ultimately depends on what the producer countries (CIV, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroun) would do. These 4 countries acount for about 75% of global cocoa output. If the agree and cooperate well, they will dictate what happens. Incidentally, 2 are Franco-phone and 2 are Anglo-phone Oil industry is a bit different: it is highly technology and capital intensive, that is why the IOCs like Shell, Mobil etc. could dominate and dictate what happens global. |

Oasisblue: FTN Cocoa on full bid. I think it is riding the waves of current news of the Abuja declaration on cocoa processing. I hope West African leaders can stay the course because Oyinbo chocolate industry will fight dirty o. Unfortunately, we lack the national solidarity. Some Nigerians would support foreign interests against their country based on bias. The Oyinbo chocolate industry (Europe basically) do not have Cocoa, so they can only negotiate and lobby. The most important stakeholders Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria need to cooperate to achieve the stated goals. |

When you've overstayed your visit it's wise to leave.
Many foreigners are still in south Africa as we speak.

Nigéria should be asking questions to foreigners too. The petitioners are not living in SA. They live in Ghana. Read well and google their names |

It is well Ghana has been the leading light in the struggle for Africa independence, unity, freedom, democracy etc. They were the country in African that played the role to mediate and find peace when Nigeria was fighting the Biafra war. A country under a curse can only attract ill luck. Messi is a great guy but Argentina is not.
In the end, the hand which lifted the Palestinian flag lifted the world cup. The hand which lifted the Israeli (cursed) flag lifted humiliation.
Free Palestine. You people said you killed Netanyahu, celebrated and were happy! That is how you all lie yo yourselves about Israel |

If he needs FX, the once he exports to other country should provide him the needed FX. The govt should make enough crude available to the refinery and sell in naira. If they do not sell to him and the refinery has to import crude oil and pay in dollars, then there will be problems |

* If Elephant closes on full bid today @105.50, it will take only one more day's full bid to see FBNH trading at par with Zenith 😊
** Which stock is next to deliver like The Elephant? I think Zenith is stronger in terms of fundamentals, and pays much higher dividends than FBN, so it is favoured in the long term. |

megawealth01: I was quoted 13,500 USD for one hour helicopter ride in Nigeria. I pay almost 10 Times Cheaper in South Africa.
With houses, everyone prices their own property according to their wish. In South Africa, you can search the value of every property and know what the average value of the area is. The history of every property is available for analysis. The monthly municipality rates carry the current valuation of every property too. Nobody will say their property is worth 1 million dollars when it’s only worth 100,000 dollars.
Nigeria is heavily UNREGULATED. What shouldn’t be luxury is unfortunately luxury. Only 15% of a 230 million population are home owners especially in the cities. The rest are tenants. Simply because houses are over-priced. Even rent is over priced. And worse still, you are expected to pay 2 to 3 years of rent before moving in. But in South Africa, you pay rent month to month.
You can blame the Government but I blame the Nigerian culture of Greed and Classism. Which average Nigerian would pay $13,500 per hour of flight if they didn’t steal the money? Why does an hour helicopter ride cost over 18 Million Naira. Where else in the world are things so expensive?
© Charles Awuzie Please stop flying helicopter in Nigeria!. This is a serious advice! |

zendi: Hmn, the recalcitrant Iran Regime have their own game too, incidentally. They're trying to bluff their way to a goal. The goal is to drag on the crisis with hope to help their allies, the Kpakus, unpatriotic US "Democrats" annihilate Trump's Republican Party in coming elections.
It sounds funny, but the Iranian Regime are themselves actually doing or aiding power shift, IN WASHINGTON.
This report of attack on infrastructure is to enable the senseless "Democrats" start accusing Trump of war crime, civilian targeting, genocide etc, as if Iran has not been rocketing merchant ships and firing missiles at neighbouring nations indiscriminately. Well, you may be right! But the attack on the 3 commercial ships by Iran during the ceasefire (causing the death of an Indian) has made Iran to lose the support and sympathy of most countries and stakeholders. Virtually no country is holding US back now. No one in Europe is saying anything to stop US now, unlike before Iran played into the hands of the US this time around, that is why the US bombing has been more intense now. If Trump is able to achieve what he wants, this war could also turn into the Republicans favour because the Iran issue has been there for long without anyone tackling it head on. |
