Nigeria deployed 15,000 soldiers, with tanks, APCs, artillery, trucks, AAA guns, Frigates, LPD ship, corvettes, Alpha jets, C-130 Hercules, etc all 2,000 km away from Lagos, far up to Liberia/Sierra Leone and sustained them for 10 years without foreign help, because we were under international arms embargo.
That is world class force projection....Nigeria.....the strongest military in Africa second only to Egypt.
.
South Africa flew bombers in Angolas that had nuclear capability. LOL!!!! Read and understand first.
agaugust: SANDF has ZERO force projection beyond your local SADC region
.
Question is: Does Nigeria? Cause no country in sub saharan Africa has the capability to deploy and sustain forces, such as the size deployed by France in and around Mali.
zaandrew: It is called the African stand by force. It still ment to hapen some time. Problam so region is fully ready. The only region that pulled of a joint traning exersize is SADC. The UN FIB was ment to be a SADC intervenstion force.
Yep,we(SADC) couldn't fund the mission. I'm still a bit sceptical,on whether the brigades will be well used. 1.On who decides for the brigade to deploy? 2. Would they engage local government forces? ..............
ZeusAyo: that means we really need some serious planning. It would be nice if each region had something like ecomog with modified boeing aircrafts and antonovs for air mobility with bases something like NATO inshort with standing defence treaty that no matter what happens or with so-ever, members are liable by law to help each other in terms of war either conventional or unconventional and it might also be extended trade
Yes,it is still not settled who's going to be responsible for air mobility under for ASF. Regarding "help",democracy must come first.
agaugust: I hate repeating posts, but....Chew on this
Nigeria's NAF has 30 combat helicopters.

That is about 60 helicopters in NAF on SIPRI alone for purchases from year 2000 to 2013 only. I did not add 6 units new Mi-35M Hind E, squadron of Bell Rangers, squadron of R66 Robinsons, and the 40 new helicopters from USA/Russia arriving this month.
Nigerian air force (Not counting Navy helicpoters one squadron, not counting any NAF reserves two squadrons) will have about 120 helicopters rocking the skies....Biggest force in Sub-Saharan Africa !
.
SAAF has more than 70 helicopter in service. More are coming.
The wheeled mine-protected chassis supplied by BAE Systems Land Systems is capable of a road speed of 85km/h and a cross country / desert speed of 30km/h. "
All engines and chassis of G-6 Artillery were build in Britain and shipped imported to South Africa, Soweto does not make engines.
Gun is Canadian Engine/Chassis is British Tyre/Wheel is South African
No gun no artillery No engine no vehicle
South African army will have to Fvck around with the G-6 artillery tyres only
PHOTO : G-6 RHINO ARTILLERY TYRES...PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN .
When did BAE system buy Alvis OMC? Did BAE systems operate in South africa during apartheid? NO. By 1994 the SADF had 43 G6 guns. Your lack of knowledge is shameful and embarrassing at times. South Africa was under an arms embargo.
Henry120: Nigeria interested in buying Super Tucanos
Tweet "Nigerian Vice President Namadi Sambo expressed interest in purchasing the Super Tucano during a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Michel Temer earlier this week. Sambo and Temer held talks on bilateral relations between Nigeria and Brazil, and ......"
Henry120: They have standardised medical bags, I posted this image because I wanted to. You can not always be supplied with all the equipment you need, you don't abandon your mission because you feel you don't have the proper medical bag.
That's not a medic bag it is for your lazy special forces.
Henry120: They have standardised medical bags, I posted this image because I wanted to. You can not always be supplied with all the equipment you need, you don't abandon your mission because you feel you don't have the proper medical bag.
Rebel force. That's like saying are going to fly counter-air ops without ammunition. 1. What's a soldier what's his rifle? 2. What's a medic without his bag? 2. What's a commander without soldiers? 3. What's an artillery battery without shells?
Denel is the OEM. Britain nor Canada have anything to do with howitzer,China imported French and others engineers whom where in South Africa to design their J-10 fighter jet.
agaugust: I am your master, NATO has built more 105mm guns on tanks than any 120mm...
"The Royal Ordnance L7 is the basic model of Britain's most successful tank gun. The L7 was a 105 mm L/52 rifled design by the Royal Ordnance Factories intended for use in armoured fighting vehicles, replacing the earlier 20 pounder (84 mm) found on the Centurion.[1] The L7 was so successful that it armed not only British post-war designs, but was used almost universally in "the West" as the main armament of almost every main battle tank of the period."
Henry120: You improvise dummy. Troops don't always get all they require. So if you don't get a medical back-pack from DHQ, you won't treat a wounded colleague?
I posted that photo, expecting this sort of ignorant reply. Troops get issued with medical back packs. The complete DICON bullet-proof vest comes with pockets for medical supplies (photo posted in the past)
Refer to the post by @Augustine to see nigerian medical corps.
ZeusAyo: Brainwashed!!!!! Lmao. True we can win that war if we utilize Λ lot of advanced SAMs thereby denying them aeriel access because the moment we get those fighters into the air, they would be cleaning up there pieces with Λ mop when they hit the ground And also antiship missiles surounding the entire continent( you can say it again Λ logistics nightmare). But NATO would never allow it
Heh lol Remember MH-17? The plane that was shot down in Ukraine by the BUK missile used rebels. Let that sink that all armies in sub-saharan Africa don't have such missile or capability. We have poor coastal and air defencem
